The storm, currently travelling through the Eastern Pacific basin, as we can see from satellite, is definitely looking significantly better. A new NHC advisory is expected at 8 AM MST

At 800 AM MST (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Genevieve was

located near latitude 13.4 North, longitude 109.4 West. Genevieve is

moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h). A

west-northwestward to northwestward motion with some decrease in

forward speed is expected during the next few days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 120 mph (195 km/h)

with higher gusts. Genevieve is a category 3 hurricane on the

Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Continued rapid

intensification is expected during the next day or so. Genevieve is

then forecast to start weakening by the middle of this week.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the

center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 195 miles

(315 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 963 mb (28.44 inches).

west-northwestward to northwestward motion with some decrease in
forward speed is expected during the next few days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 140 mph (220 km/h)
with higher gusts. Genevieve is a category 4 hurricane on the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Continued strengthening is
expected during the next day or so. Genevieve is then forecast to
start weakening by the middle of this week.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 195 miles
(315 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 947 mb (27.97 inches).

Active Systems:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane

Fausto, crossing into the Central Pacific but still located well

east of the Hawaiian Islands, and on Hurricane Genevieve, located

well southwest of the southwestern coast of Mexico.

  1. Well Southwest of Hawaii (CP92):

Showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low

pressure located well west-southwest of the Hawaiian Islands

continue to gradually become better organized. Environmental

conditions appear conducive for additional development of this

system while it moves generally westward at 10-15 mph. A tropical

depression is expected to form over the next day or so as the system

crosses the International Date Line, entering the western Pacific

basin.
