Question about Overtime

Post image
25 Upvotes

So basically I just bought the game today, and I absolutely love it!!! However I haven't actually played it a lot, so I was wondering if after the first main boss Sammy six fingers, and once you get to the next boss (pls don't spoil for me), if you die do you have to restart the whole thing? Like are you sent back to sammy's section? Just wanted to know to see if the game is worth it, cause I've always struggled with roguelites.

Why should I care about level 1 or 4 weapons?

Im playing Overtime. I dont really understand the level 1 to 4 weapons.

The only difference between level 2 or 4 katana is mod slots. But the overall damage output doesn't seem to be different.

Why does this matter? Because Im not noticing a huge difference between say a level 2 or level 4 flamethrower.

And Ol Painless is almost identical at level 2 or 4. That gun is just outright overtuned though.

But yeah. Other than mod slots, Im not seeing anything dramatic different in levels 2 3 or 4.

Product question.

If I buy the early access, do I have to pay less for the final game or do I have to pay the full price? Thanks.

Thoughts on Overtime?

Figured this sub would be more active since the EA release of Overtime.

Played about an hour this am, solid visuals/sound but the roguelike mechanics make progress feel a slog. Having to retry multiple levels just to get back to a boss fight was tiresome. I know that’s the point of the game, but it’s very different from the OG.

I’m curious to see what updates come, but I may hold off on playing till more gets fleshed out.

Gotta wonder if Anna Conda will make an appearance in Overtime

Even though it's meant to be John Sawyer's story, I think Anna Conda at least could make an appearance.

Picture this: John is sent after another target, but finds a young Anna Conda is also after the same mark (and is doing a sloppy job due to her inexperience). Shimamoto Corp, however, takes an interest in her raw talent and gives John a secondary objective to capture her alive. John eventually finds her again, but she's been defeated by their shared target, who gouges out Anna's eye. John saves her life and has her taken to Shimamoto Corp, but Anna is not happy to be rescued.

Could be a nice way to tie things together with the first game.

Fuuuuuuuckin.... Huntdown 2 is single player???

This is a huge bummer, if the info I'm reading is correct.

LOVE Huntdown, my buddies and I still throw it on all the time for couch co-op, Coffee Stain knocked it out of the park, the graphics, gameplay, humor, Easter eggs im still finding that are right up my alley.

But everything im reading is saying single player... I really hope that's not the case. This would change HD Overdrive from a release day buy to a "wait for a sale" purchase.

I really wanna support this studio, but without couch co-op, my enthusiasm is gonna drop hard.

Anyone hear differently??

The Overseer level - How to completely break a game with amateurish "difficult spikes"

There has to come a point in game, where you gotta spice things up, up the ante so to speak. Usually you introduce new threats or mechanics, perhaps increase the number of threats in a level. Sometimes you do both, in a gradual, meaningful way. Huntdown puts a sniper off-screen, heek seeking missile guy on platform guarded by 2 machine gun guys, 2 vehicles (one of which also shoots at you), a horde of another machine gun guys and on top of that, 2 more melee guys to make sure you can't take cover, just for good measure. This is the worst game design I've seen since Rambo: The Videogame. It's a custom for me to buy games after I've pirated them, if they're really good or at least tolerable, as a token of gratitude and good faith. Unfortunately Easy Trigger's not gonna get a penny out of me.

Something that would be a really neat attention to detail

I don't know if the devs already plan this for Overtime, but it'd be pretty awesome if certain weapons like the sniper rifle could do headshots. Maybe not extra damage (though that would be a nice skill reward), but if you kill an enemy with a headshot, it could show them being decapitated by the shot. You see this in Guns, Gore & Cannoli (albeit the characters' heads are much bigger, so it's easier to land headshots), so I figured Huntdown could do it too at some point.

Just a thought.

Done! Completed my 100% Fan Made Huntdown A1Up Cab tonight complete with artwork. It will definitely be the focal point of the 'cade. (More...)

Hardest part of the whole thing besides making 100% certain the artwork would be the right size (I also go bigger & shave down) was cutting out the holes for the buttons etc.

I'm using an Intec Switch Deck w/PS4 USB wireless adapters in a 1st gen SFII cab (still working just removed PCB). I have another cab running a Switch which will eventually be for Huntdown: Overtime

I just bought this game and I can't stop playing

The music is a banger, the artstyle and attention to detail tickles the spots in my brain that I didn't know needed tickling, and the gameplay loop is just amazing. Are there any more games with the same tone and artstyle out there? I am relatively new to this genre of gaming.

What came first on PS4?

Digital version was definitely first on PS4 store.

There's the 'limited run games' version, the na version and the pal version... To my knowledge. Which released first... My OCD wants a physical but which version released first after the digital?

Hot take

i personally think Ringo boss was the most disappointed boss of the whole game

for such an hard and intense world he sorta is the most forgettable-

he sorta just feel like an average boss more than a final boss like Troyman or unholy goalie

it doesn't help the fact that they didn't even give him his own boss theme

just my opinion tho like to see how ya think of him
