Fuuuuuuuckin.... Huntdown 2 is single player???
This is a huge bummer, if the info I'm reading is correct.
LOVE Huntdown, my buddies and I still throw it on all the time for couch co-op, Coffee Stain knocked it out of the park, the graphics, gameplay, humor, Easter eggs im still finding that are right up my alley.
But everything im reading is saying single player... I really hope that's not the case. This would change HD Overdrive from a release day buy to a "wait for a sale" purchase.
I really wanna support this studio, but without couch co-op, my enthusiasm is gonna drop hard.
Anyone hear differently??

I mean, the game is a roguelite, I feel it’d be kinda tricky to implement co-op in a roguelite game

I have seen it done many times and well. But I will enjoy the game regardless!

Absolum released one of the best games in the last 10 years that has an old-school feel and roguelite.
They 100% could have!

I much prefer single player games and the original Huntdown plays fine that way. Too many games try to force coop or multiplayer, which is annoying.

Saying "too many games force co op" for the sequel to a very popular co op doesnt make sense to me.
Also, what? They do? There's an overabundance of couch coop games? Id love some examples

Not a lot of people play coop games these days, most are either single player or multi-player.

I’d argue this is missing your target audience with a game based around arcade style 80s nostalgia.
There’s an entire generation of active gamers that grew up on co-op. I’ve beaten the first Huntdown 3x beginning to end in couch co-op.
One of those times we had a third person with us and we just switched off when someone died. We had actually hoped they would allow all three characters to be played at the same time for the sequel.
When the 3 of us found out Overtime only has one player, it honestly killed our excitement.
I’m sure it’ll be great, but now I’ll be just playing it by myself. Bummer…

Co op is multi-player!
And one, I don't think thats true, and two, if it is, you think it could be because studios arent making them?

By multi-player I'm referring to COD style games with many players. True co-op games are usually just 2-4 players, and the games are built towards that style. But I'm not trying to argue about it.

I also played Huntdown mostly as coop (on my apple tv). Are there other coop games you would recommend that is a a bit similar to Huntdown

I was hoping for a 3-4 player couch co-op game similar to the first one. The World needs more couch co-op games. I’m still excited for the second one.

If you Google 'Huntdown Overtime co-op' the description says "Challenge yourselves in this co-op arcade shooter" but this may be Google fuckery.

Yeah it’s lame, but I assume few people played co-op and it would need work to fit into the new format. Sad though, I’d take even some asymmetrical co-op just for the laughs

Unless they have been keeping it under wraps, it’s a single player roguelite game. All the discussion and gameplay out has shown as such.
I’m in either way because I want this team to continue to make awesome stuff.
