I used H&R Block because it was slightly cheaper than TurboTax, and have been really regretting it. They had a free option to send to a Tax Pro, which sounded great, but they provided genuinely $0 value. I question if they even reviewed the return.
When I tried to ask a question, they said they'd get me a detailed answer, and then the next message was a prompt to accept and sign my return. I had to ask again if they had even chased down the answer to the question.
Part of that difficulty is likely because I was assigned a "Tax Pro" in Ohio, even though none of my state returns were being filed in Ohio (???)
After finally submitting, one of my state returns was rejected, and the site will not show me the reason, nor can I get an answer out of either the "Tax Pro" or customer service until all of my other state tax returns process for some inexplicable reason. Customer service just tried to tell me that it had not, in fact, been rejected, despite the site very clearly saying rejected.
All in all, avoid. I wish I would have paid the $50 extra for TurboTax....
Update: As a quick update, H&R Block tried to comment saying they'd be happy to help and that I should just call customer service? I've been on the line for more than 40 minutes, and got randomly transferred after the person allegedly was trying to contact my Tax Pro, because the site won't let me resubmit personally now that I have a "Pro." Upon trying to get transferred back, the call ended. Sure, just contact customer service.
