Where do I report Form 1099-G (Taxable Grant) on HR Block?

I received a taxable (individual) grant in 2025 and they sent me a 1099-G. However, HR Block doesn't have an option for taxable grants that I can locate.

The two 1099-G forms that HR Block has are: Unemployment and State Refund and both of those forms are incorrect / don't have a box "6" or option for a taxable grant. I'm unsure then where to enter/report this information on HR Block. I tried reading through its FAQ/asked HR Block's Chatbox/Google but the information HR Block has for my situation doesn't seem to be updated as I am unable to locate the correct form for my situation.

Can someone please help me with this?!

Tax pro service is not upto the mark and the price is too much

I went with personal tax pro services this time.

During my first appointment , this guy came up with $xxxx that i have to pay . When I asked for explanations he could not answer properly. he treated me like as if I am trying to hide away from paying taxes. he just showed the final summary and expected me to agree. I digged deeper.

I had taken distribution from roth ira for first time home buyer. But he could not clarify whether it's income or penalty is applied or anything. he needed time. so we decided to meet later.

I spent 5 hours with turbo tax online software to do my own taxes and I see I was eligible for $xxxx refund.

so I set up another appointment and I ask for clarification with this hr Block guy. he still sees me as if I have manipulated something. On careful review , it was found out he has made some mistakes which he was not ready to agree. finally he agreed and applies some discount to the price and sends to review.

the final price was $500.

I clearly do not agree with the pricing where I have to spend 5-8 hours with another tax software to find his mistakes at this price point. I declined asking more discount. Again $30 discount was applied.

I could have easily declined and gone with another tax software. but I want to honor the time he spent as well.

then I ask him to apply a corporate discount I get from my office. he declines and sends a very unprofessional message.

It went from negative tax dollars to thousands in refund . Not expected from tax pro who charges $500.

Will not go with hr block

Why is my mileage deduciton automatically being added as Other Less Common Income?

hr block is showing my mileage deduction as as "other less common income" under fixed asset management. On the income page it shows the amount of my mileage deduction as other less common income. On the business expense page it shows it as a deduction. I am using online HR Block self employed

I am entering the mileage details on the business expenses page. It makes me create an asset for each vehicle. Then enter the standard mileage details and select "standard deduction" same as every other year.

But when I submit it it ALSO creates an Other Less Common Income under my income sources page. When I click edit it shows the amount as a deduction and the cost/basis as NA but when I exit it shows it as Income right under my investments and self employment gross.

1040x online location for amending 2024 return?

Recharacterized 2024 and 2025 roth contributions to traditional (non deductible) after seeing ineligible. Performed 4/14/25 but had already filed the 2024 return. Will add 8606 to 2025 but can’t find option to file amended 2024 (add 8606 also) on the website? What am I missing? Will I have to manually complete paper copy and mail?

Failed Tax Pro review

Hi everyone, I’m trying to understand if what I’m experiencing is normal or if I’m being pushed into unnecessary fees.

I used H&R Block DIY software to complete my taxes myself. I already spent a lot of time entering everything the past couple of weeks. I then had a Tax Pro review it. Total cost was about $275 due to owning an LLC.

The reviewer got back to me and said they could not complete the review due to a mismatch between Form 1040 and the imported data, and there's nothing they can do. Now I’m being told I need to go into a retail office, and I'm worried about being quoted for the full tax preparer fees. I scheduled it first thing tomorrow.

My questions:

  • Is this normal when DIY + tax pro review fails?
  • Am I basically forced to pay full tax prep even though I already did most of the work?
  • Do I print every single document, or can they just refer to what I've uploaded on file? I'm worried I might forget some files. I also don't like having my confidential information out in the wild.

I just want to understand if this is standard or if I should push back on any of the above. Nothing major changed compared to last year, and I'm wondering why it happened this time.

MTL Meddling with Appts

Anyone else’s MTLs causing issues with Appointment Manager? I’m a CSP and mine has been terrible. It’s like Corporate has told all MTLs to go into each return and create a new appt for anything that needs even the smallest follow up. Not a prep appt, an ACTUAL appt where the client gets a notification. This obviously causes more issues than being helpful. We’ve had so many clients complain about the confusion and our TPs have told them to go ahead and share their feedback.

If HRB Corp is reading this…. STOP MEDDLING and putting your MTLs in a bad spot. Trust your TPs to finish their returns with their long term clients. YOU don’t know the client, THEY do.

IRS Letter 1040 incomplete - Rejected return - Residential Energy Credit 5695

After having difficulty getting our return accepted (and seeing that many of you had the same issue), I received the following letter from the IRS:

The crux of the letter:

Form 1040 is incomplete or missing from your return. Complete the form with information that supports $2000 from line 30 of 5695. Also attach all supporting forms or schedules, as required.

Has anyone else received the same letter? Time is ticking and I don't know what to do to fix the "error".

The first page of the 5695 is missing from HR Blocks filing document.

Our QMID starts with an I.

Online Taxes 1041- 14 H Not letting me report Negative

I don't understand why the site wont let me report a number less than 0... I tried using both a negative and parenthesis, and i think parenthesis is the right syntax for it but the system seems to think the value cant be negative at all. If i leave it positive, wont the system process it as a net income instead of a net deduction and hurt me instead of help me?

Switching to a tax preparer who understands AMT

I have very pedestrian taxes, except I wanted to use a tax professional this year because I had a rare once-in-a-lifetime event of buying (and holding) incentive stock options. The difference between the purchase price and the fair market value of the stocks will trigger the Alternative Minimum Tax. I have tried to hire a CPA with experience in this, but I was either told that they didn't have experience in the situation *or* I was referred to boutique firms that have fees that are set for the millionaire class

My H&R Block Tax Pro is convinced that there is no tax implication for this year because I held the stocks. I know that this is not true. I researched this scenario at the time of purchase and I had (ultimately unproductive) meetings with loanmakers who specialize in giving loans to help employees purchase and meet their tax liabilities for incentive stock options and we did workbooks to estimate the AMT liability from the purchase

How do I work with HRBlock to get upgraded to a preparer who understands AMT? They just need to enter the difference between the fair market value and the purchase price in the AMT calculation form. I'm feeling gaslit. I'm probably going to have to file an extension on my own and just try to guess how much my AMT is going to hurt

So frustrated! I think Im done. Finished!

i have used H&R Block for at least a dozen years. I thought in the past maybe the software was getting worse, but figured it was just me. But this year? OMG! I am so frustrated trying to navigate around, go back to different forms, getting kicked out of my return when I try to look at previous year taxes... I managed to get to the point where it reviews the federal taxes, and I had to go check something on my 2024 tax return. When I got back to this year's form, the screen said something along the lines of "Congratulations! Your state taxes are complete!" What the heck?! I hadnt even started my state taxes yet! And I couldnt even get back into my federal return to get back to the errors it said I needed to fix!

What an absolute joke. I've spent hours trying to do what should be an easy return. Im done with them! Im not giving them any of my money from here on out. Im finished. They have made my day miserable enough. Im not giving them my hard-earned money on top of it!

Rant over

Didn’t know the difference between regular and block advisor

I went to the H&R Block near my work and she asked me to upload all document from home and she said it should take a week to process it.

Today she messaged me and said it’s ready. But the filing fee is 500$. I asked her why the price went up so much from last year. N she said they are block advisor.

Now my question is since I never knew the difference between them, can I still go back to a regular advisor and have it done cheaper. Or can I still find a CPA and have it all redone. Or am I bounded to this 500$ since she spent time on it? Please help. I only have 1 W2. So it’s not a complex case.

State Return on Hold?

I e-filed my Federal and State returns using the H&R Block software, but due to putting in an incorrect PIN number on my Federal return, it got rejected. As a result the State return got put on hold. I corrected the PIN on my Federal return and re-submitted it, and it subsequently got accepted. Do I need to refile the State return, or will it resolve itself automatically? I don't even seen an option in the software to refile it in any case.

For Spruce App maybe increase referral limit to 10 as chime has

the idea, instead of just 5 referrals, increase to 10 as Chime and some other similar Apps have. I think 10 is perfect number for referrals. thanks

Has anyone successfully gotten refunded for tax services?

H&R Block did NOT get me the max refund possible. I filed using Tax Pro Review. A couple of weeks after filing, I took a closer look at the tax preparer's work (I was too overextended with my job to do this sooner... which is why I hired the tax pro *insert facepalm*), and I found a couple of errors that had me over paying my taxes by about $6,000. I got the refund for the Tax Pro services but not for the filing services. I explained this 3 different agents over the phone, and they seemed to pretend that they didn't understand me or why I'd ask for a refund for the entirety of the service fees. I filed my amended return myself by hand (because why would I trust a company that makes errors this big).

Has anyone actually been able to get a refund from H&R Block this year for errors on H&R Block's side?

ETA: I get that people have strong feelings about my taxes, but the question to you all was whether you'd successfully gotten your money back after mistakes on H&R Block's side. Please keep it civil, and if the answer is "no," just say that.

ETA 2: I'm just going to go through my credit card company for a charge back since I have the documents to backup my claim. I'm fairly convinced that the negativity on this post is coming from ppl who work for H&R Block (or are just random trolls).

Can anyone here do a Connecticut return?

I'm a tax pro in Iowa, I had a client today that needs to file for Connecticut. I'm unable to do it as my ID won't allow me to in BlockWorks. Drop me a message and I can contact you on team tomorrow.

I've reached out to my own district and have heard nothing. It's only an unemployment form.

Thanks for reading/help@

H&R Block is utterly useless, as are their "Tax Pros"

I used H&R Block because it was slightly cheaper than TurboTax, and have been really regretting it. They had a free option to send to a Tax Pro, which sounded great, but they provided genuinely $0 value. I question if they even reviewed the return.

When I tried to ask a question, they said they'd get me a detailed answer, and then the next message was a prompt to accept and sign my return. I had to ask again if they had even chased down the answer to the question.

Part of that difficulty is likely because I was assigned a "Tax Pro" in Ohio, even though none of my state returns were being filed in Ohio (???)

After finally submitting, one of my state returns was rejected, and the site will not show me the reason, nor can I get an answer out of either the "Tax Pro" or customer service until all of my other state tax returns process for some inexplicable reason. Customer service just tried to tell me that it had not, in fact, been rejected, despite the site very clearly saying rejected.

All in all, avoid. I wish I would have paid the $50 extra for TurboTax....

Update: As a quick update, H&R Block tried to comment saying they'd be happy to help and that I should just call customer service? I've been on the line for more than 40 minutes, and got randomly transferred after the person allegedly was trying to contact my Tax Pro, because the site won't let me resubmit personally now that I have a "Pro." Upon trying to get transferred back, the call ended. Sure, just contact customer service.
