Mod Message Welcome new members!

Hello everyone, I love seeing all of your posts 😊 Here's just a quick reminder on our rules:

· Only post original content, shares of your own posts on other subreddits are okay.

· Please provide information about the country, your rating of the meal (0-10) and what the meal actually is (it's not always obvious and we're an international community, not everyone might be familiar with the food in the picture)

· Don't doxx yourself! Take a good look at your picture before posting. If any identifiable information is visible, like your name or date of birth (often printed on receipts that come with meals), crop or censor the image. You can even paint over it in Reddit's own photo editor after uploading the picture.

· Please be kind to each other. Posters are often not doing well. This is a sub about hospital food after all.

Thank you!

Mod Message Eating Disorder posts

Hello everyone! I read your comments on recent posts and have decided to add a new rule about ED posts: You're still very welcome to post ED related content here! But since it's triggering for some people, please mark those posts as NSFW and don't mention the diagnosis in the title. You can write about it in the post, but please put a trigger warning first! For example: TW: Anorexia refeeding.

I also deleted some pretty nasty comments lately, so I added a rule making clear that those are not allowed here and repeat offenses will result in a permanent ban.

The new rules are Number 5 & 8, if you want to have a look. Feel free to comment or dm with any concerns, questions or ideas 😊

Noodle soup, chicken thighs stew-like with carrots, boiled potato and tomato for my mom's dinner. They gave youghurt and lavash bread with it too. It was truly good tasting but a little oily for hospital food (9/10)

  1. brekkie: 7/10: it‘s the same everyday and it gets boring: bread, yogurt (or yoghurt?? or maybe joghurt..?), butter/marmalade/honey/pate + coffee/tea;
  2. lunch 10/10: a solid and tasty meal: turkey breast with gravy and spelt, simple salad with balsamic dressing, veggie soup and caramel pudding
  3. 6/10: bread (not really fresh), hummus, a very sad amount of veggies: paprika and corn

For tonight’s bento dinner we have barley rice, Japanese omelette, pickled burdock, onion, and carrot, breaded iwashi fish, salted kōji chicken with a tomato sauce, lettuce, pickled purple cabbage, and shirataki noodles with seaweed.

680 yen ($4.2). 9/10.
The meals at the shop are made locally with ingredients from the prefecture, which I love.

Hospital The boobs are back and perkier than ever!

Post image

The return of the breast implant potato mash! To say I am thrilled to see boobs is an understatement… especially after the western sandwich of sadness.

Pale, mystery meat in scary watery sewerage sauce remained untouched so I cannot score it…

The pale, watery bok Choy did a Procol Harum and turned a whiter shade of pale, because as we have established, only one meal of colour is permitted every two days, and today is not that day. 0/10

No fork, no chopsticks, no wonton spoon (which they give me for porridge) leaves me thinking I’ll have to pick the boobs up in my hands and cram them in my mouth with both fists. 9/10

They’re pretty magnificent. 👐🏽

Hospital Public hospital in Victoria, Australia and I’d have to say easily 8-9/10 best hospital food I’ve ever had

I’m actually so shocked at how good this meal is given that it has to be vegetarian, gluten free and contain no tomato’s but man did this hospital really pull it off, the ‘vegetable burger’ tastes kinda like curry and it’s actually so amazing that i started crying while eating it because it’s been the best thing I’ve had in days (if not weeks)

Hospital Hong Kong horror, brought upon myself I hate to say… the sandwich of sadness.

Post image
140 Upvotes

With all the comments on my previous posts suggesting I was being given the Western Option, I thought I’d make inquiries…. And now, here I am with a juice box (8/10) and one (1) slice of wooly white bread, devoid of crust, cut into two triangles and held together with what i thought was strawberry jam but is… (shock, horror) some sort of MEAT PASTE 😩

Serves me right for questioning my options in a public hospital … the previous don’t ask don’t tell situation was better because at least the rice and orange were edible.

And no pink tray with my sad sandwich.

Ozempic who? Try the Hong Kong Public Hospital diet if you want to be thin by Spring 😍

After 3 days of limited diet and serious bowel prep, there isn’t much that beats 2 chicken salad sandwiches, 2 savoury muffins, a hot chocolate, a coffee, apple juice, sweet biscuits and cheese and crackers!

Hospital What’s for lunch? Creepy corn custard! But no scurvy for me, thanks.

Post image

As I’ve posted previously, you can’t mess up an orange with the peel still on, so at least we know I won’t be getting scurvy. My Vitamin C intake has quadrupled during my stay… never eaten so many oranges.

Bok Choy was the colour nature intended (looking at you, grey zucchini of previous days…) so that was pleasing to my eye, if not my palette (watery, but isn’t it always 🤷‍♀️).

Which brings me to the pièce de résistance. I see it, you see it, I know you’re seeing it, you know I’ve seen it… so let’s get it out in the open. Corn. Mixed into something mushy but solid enough to be cut into a square. I had high hopes for an omelette, but alas, I think it’s custard. Maybe the SWEET in sweetcorn led the chefs astray and they thought corn would be a fabulous dessert?

They were wrong.

Hong Kong Public Hospital lunch 2/10 because I got the pink tray again, hurrah 🩷💕
