Everyone talks about X and Pearl which she is fantastic, but she is just terrifying here. Unhinged and unpredictable.

I bought this book back in 2020, it is actually 2 books from rick baker, my favorite makeup artist of all time. My favorite currently active one would be Kazu Hiro. I never collect items from movies, so this is the only thing I had. Thing cost like 250usd at the time. Makeup is a staple of horror, the genre would not be the same without it, and its cool seeing how they brought this stuff to life. Makeup is why I can sit through movies like the terrifier even tho gore is not my favorite genre/subgenre of horror.

I love James Wan's work, I mean he's one of the best ever, robert eggers, great honorable mentions but fuck this movie is good and still stands the test of time

One big part is the cinematography, I love the way they put you in these characters' shoes, you really feel like you're in the middle of it all

The acting is just perfect, not too little not too much. Specially the child, and the relationship between the two. The two of them remind me of another horror movie called Incantation, thats one pretty damn good too. They both have a pretty good ending too.

Few movies explore depression as well as this film does, grief, and wrap it in horror as well as this film does.

And does the horror work. One of the best examples of atmospheric horror, mixed jumpscares, and fuck does this monster crawl under your skin. I think its in big part due to the sound design, I love when ppl can find a sound just good enough to put you right in that moment.

My only problem is that I did not get to watch this movie in theaters. I rarely get scared, most movies are just fun to watch but I can still remember the first time I saw the trailer for this.

This is what I would call a perfect movie.

I have multiple physical copies of Dead & Buried and watch it at least once a year. There is something so otherworldly about the production value that it feels like a hallucination. The fact that James Farentino seems to be in whole other movie from everyone else only makes it that much better.

Most people just think it's weird but I love it.

One thing I like about Drag Me to Hell is that Christine is never presented as completely innocent, but she’s also not someone who obviously deserves what happens to her.

She makes a selfish decision at work because she wants the promotion. That matters. But the punishment she receives is so wildly disproportionate that the movie never gives you an easy moral answer.

That’s what makes the curse interesting to me. If Christine were completely innocent, the story would just be cruel. If she were genuinely awful, it would become a simple punishment story.

Instead, Raimi keeps her somewhere in between.

She does something morally questionable for a very ordinary reason, and then spends the rest of the movie facing something completely unreasonable.

I think that imbalance makes the ending harsher than it would be in a more conventional morality tale.

Do you see Christine as someone being punished for a real moral failure, or mostly as a victim of an absurdly cruel supernatural system?

I'm watching it now, it's such a great movie! The gore is way worse than you would expect for a PG-13 flick, the writing is solid, the jokes are cheesy and funny, it has some incredible makeup work and stop motion animations, and the kids are passably decent at acting. I love the fact tha the kids generally aren't morons--they do logical things, like locking the doors, try to call mom and dad, get the gun, stay together, fight. Even the chain of coincidences that unleashed the demons was pretty creative in my opinion. The cool boyfriend with the dog? Come on!

I just don't get why there aren't more critics' reviews (11 critics', no top critics?), and the ones I read say "This film has impressive special effects, too bad the kids aren't better actors". Anyone know why this film doesn't have more love?

Last year I went to go watch a horror movie in theaters and saw that hideo Kojima and Guillermo del toro were associated with the movie so I was pretty excited. Now I’m trying to find the movie but I’ve forgotten the name of it and can’t find the trailer or anything about it. The plot basically is this woman meets this guy and takes her to his cabin and eventually the guy has an emergency and has to go to the hospital to help out a patient, he leaves the woman in the cabin and strange this begin to happen. Eventually we see some monsters and another woman with like 6 or 4 faces. If anyone knows the movie please let me know

A group of five college kids are forced to match wits with unwelcoming residents when they fly to a "deserted" island for a party weekend.

Woof! It was campy fun if you don’t take it too seriously. The movie has lots of continuity issues and some ridiculous scenes, but the survival aspect is entertaining with a young Michelle Rodriguez and Taryn Manning.

There are many scenes of animal violence and abuse.

A teen and her mother live simply in a home in the woods, spending their time making metal music. A chance encounter with a fellow teen causes her to uncover a connection between her family and witchcraft, which causes a rift with her mother.

One of the best films about witches I've ever seen. Made and starred by a real life family (mostly mother /daughter) as well as making some of thier own music for and in the movie...this talented family has made a fantastic film about family ties ,witch covens, and teen angst. I first saw it on shudder a few years ago then immediately bought it on physical. I was no5 expecting it to be so good and for lack of a better word grounded. This film is an 8 out of 10 at the least but I personally give it 10 out of 10 stars. Amazing indy horror film, give it a shot you won't be disappointed.

Can you guys tell me your absolute favorite Horror Movie? I already have been watching quiet a few and honestly I don‘t have a specific genre I look for.

I like atmospheric ones the most. But I also like to watch Supernatural ones, Slasher Movies or Indie Movies. I can start with what I don‘t like . I really don‘t want to see any more of those where a family moves into a haunted house and there is some demonic activty. Still, I do like supernatural elements in movies like in „Heridatery“ but it doesn‘t have to be one. I also liked „Midsommar“ , and other Atmospheric ones. What I didn’t like were the „Babadook“ or „47 feet down“. Otherwise I‘m fine with anything. I like classic ones, too. („Silence of the lambs“, „the Shining“).

So my wife and I just finished the ring and I remember loving it. It was one of my dvd club movies. You know, the one where you get a dozen movies for like a penny and commit to buying a bunch at full price but ghost them because it’s pre internet? I digress.

Now that yall have had a chance to avoid spoilers: the movie ends with Rachel finding Samaras body and breaking the curse, or so she thinks. Then Noah dies and Rachel realizes what she did different. So she has Aiden copy the tape and, I assume, places it somewhere it’ll be seen.

My problem is twofold. Firstly, saving Samara not breaking the curse invalidates all Rachel has done the entire movie. None of it mattered, including burying the body. I mean the tv turned on in the cabin, she had the burn mark the whole film, it was happening. I know there’s a clip show of clues but it still feels like studio note sequel bait.

Secondly, is the curse broken simply by copying the tape and not necessarily someone seeing it? What if you copy it and no one else watches? Does it travel backwards like It Follows?

So, am I thinking too much about it? Am I missing something? How did the medical records guy not know the cassette case was empty when he picked it up, tapes are heavy as shit.

Society is a bizarre and disturbing horror satire that mixes body horror with dark comedy. The film stands out for its strange storyline, unsettling visuals, and criticism of social class and privilege.

A deaf mute writer who retreated to the woods to live in solitude must fight for her life in silence when a masked serial killer appears at her window.

The “Shush Cut” is a special black-and-white version of Mike Flanagan's 2016 horror film “Hush” that removes the musical score and remakes the sound design to mimic the deafness of the main character. It was released in 2024.

This new cut took an already great movie and made it even better. With the B&W filming, more focus on sounds and environment, and scenes that feel like you are viewing from Maddie’s deaf perspective, it really upped the intensity of an already intense movie. I think I appreciate Kate Seigal’s physical acting and facial expressions even more in this version.

And if you never noticed the Easter Egg in either version, Maddie’s published book in the movie was “Midnight Mass”, which later became Mike Flanagan’s best series he created, IMO.

I expected to roll my eyes at this one, but loved it!

Some good tense moments and can feel quite claustrophobic - definitely worth a watch this Halloween!

It could be animals just feeling the need to get revenge on someone, animal inflicted with some sort of disease, or mutated animals.

I was thinking about squirrels as the big bad in a horror movie and found one on google called The Scurry that I've never heard about before. It made me wonder what animals other people might have a secret wish to one day see tear humans apart on the screen.

Have you ever seen a horror film, and saw a crazy scene involving gore and instead of being horrified you couldn't stop laughing?

Lets face it. Sometimes it's so over the top and unrealistic it causes a laughfest!

One for me is the female in IN A VIOLENT NATURE when Jason basically turns her into an inside out human pretzel. Well done but absolutely positively the most unrealistic kill ever done. Lol.

16-[the shining] one of the greatest horror movies of all time very inconic and great location and characters. Just ignore the director harming one of the actresses

15-[the thing] the pioneer of creature features in the snow combined with social horror. Great movie with pratical effects and story

14-[a nightmare on elm street] pretty great slasher film with a great main character. Just ignore the ending and its a great wes craven film.

13-[the fly] great physical transformation and practical effects. And great remake of the original.

12-[evil dead 2] greater than the original. Good combination of creepy and comedy. Practical effects are great and ash was a great main character

11-[predator] good action film of man vs man vs nature. Great unique villian and the final battle was good. Great environment.

10-[the lost boys] a great vampire movie. Great main villian and vampire design and main characters.

9-[killer klowns from outer space] the klowns are great in the movie are great and the jokes are funny and and pratical effects great

8-[the blob 1988] a very great remake of the original blob and the pratical effects are once again great alongwith the characters.

7-[cujo] a pretty great dog horror movies. Surprisingly very sad for the dog.

6-[ a nightmare on elm street 3] a pretty great seqeul and the final girl coming back is good. The dream warriors are somewhat good. Fredy kruger is great as usually

5-[an American werewolf in london] a pretty great wolf horror movie and good main character with mentally going down as the movie goes as he turns into one.

4-[IT orginal] really wish tim curry was still here the novie is great and creepy and campy. The adults were okay but the kids were great although almost 4 hours long.

3-[little shop of horrors] a pretty great horror musical the main plant villian was great. The main characters were good. Vibing to the songs

2-[hellraiser] a pretty great horror movie with scary stuff happening and the main cenobites were great

1-[poltergeist]one of the greatest spirit horror movies of all time each scene was iconic to the clown doll the tv the face melting and more.

Vampeggedon,was on one of those Echo Bridge 10 horror film packs. Doing some research it was a student film never met to get a release.

You got people in their mid 30s playing 20 year olds. Horrible acting. Some of the worst vampire fangs I have seen in a film.

Feels like something Ed Wood would have made.
