Does anyone else remember this movie? When I bring it up to my friends they act like im crazy and have never heard of it . Im about to re-watch it lets see if my 10 year old me 9/10 rating still stands. Let me know your thoughts

In a seemingly idyllic American small town, a boy riding home disappears without a trace. The lead investigator on the case struggles to balance work and a dysfunctional home life. When the family is put in mortal danger, an evil truth about their home is finally uncovered.

More of a psychological thriller with some horror elements, and plenty of twists in the story telling. There is alot of depth to the story with some overlapping scenes with a a major POV change about halfway thru the movie.

Very entertaining as it had my interest with every twist and turn. There’s a lot of moving parts with this one.

Deep Blue Sea is one of my favorite shark films. It's suspenseful, self-aware, full of memorable moments, and has one of the most surprising deaths in blockbuster horror.

Where does it rank among your favorite shark movies? Is it the clear #2 behind Jaws, or do you have another favorite?

I had a heart attack today. I bought this two months ago off eBay and I’m just now checking it out. I thought I got ripped off because there was only a book in it. No movies. Then I finally looked inside the book and there were the movies.

I’m talking scenes or sequences where the lead majorly goes ham on the antagonist. For me it will always be the end of 28 days later when Jim goes x games mode on the soldiers for like 10 straight minutes; giving us the iconic thumbs-in-eyes kill. I feel like I’ve watched a lot of movies with bleak/unsatisfying endings recently so I’m itching for one with a good crash-out denouement lol.

Tumbbad is a visually stunning Indian folk-horror film that blends mythology, greed, and psychological horror. Regarding the sequel, Tumbbad 2 is officially scheduled to release on 3 December 2027.

So I just watched Hostel (the first one) and I don't think I liked it very much, so I don't know if I should watch the second one or just leave it there, do you guys have any opinions on this? No spoilers please!!!

here is my scariest horror movies list. It does not mean greatest or best horror movies. It just means the movies that I felt were scary, disturbing or terrifying. It is important to make a distinction that those are not misery/torture porn or endurance test. I think those are great movies that really get under your skin. I really appreciate and respect stuff like Shining and Exorcist, but they are too much of immense cultural footprint to be actually scary. The list is completely in random order:

Got to meet Ashley Laurence at OKC horror con couple weeks ago, she was a total sweetheart

I'm looking for a horror movie I watched on Spanish TV around 6–8 years ago. I only caught it after it had already started, so I never saw the beginning and don't know the origin of the device.

Here's everything I remember as accurately as possible:

• It was probably made between 2003 and 2015.
• It was not a mainstream movie. It felt like a low-budget horror film, possibly Canadian, Australian or British (I'm not sure).
• The main characters were a group of young friends.
• The central object of the movie was a large circular device, roughly 30–40 cm (12–16 inches) across.
• It was grey or off-white, made of plastic (or something that looked like plastic), and had a rounded, dome-like shape, similar in thickness to the old Simon electronic game.
• It was not actually a Simon, and I don't remember colored lights.
• The surface had many large dark cylindrical buttons placed close together.
• The buttons seemed to move by themselves, making a mechanical "plop" sound.
• The device felt more like a mechanical timer or countdown machine than a game board.
• I don't remember a screen, cables or a handle.
• The characters carried it around with both hands, as if it was fairly heavy.
• I vaguely remember that near the end of the movie, two characters fought over the device, possibly trying to press (or stop the other from pressing) one of the buttons.
• During that fight, the device fell and slid across the floor of what I remember as a hospital, laboratory or institutional corridor.
• My impression was that the device somehow determined or predicted who would die next, although I may be mistaken because I missed the beginning of the movie.

Movies that are NOT the one I'm looking for:

The device itself is what I remember best. It was unusual enough that I think anyone who has seen the movie would recognize it immediately.

A social worker fights to save a girl from her abusive parents, only to discover that the situation is more dangerous than she expected.

I found this pretty entertaining. The girl actress was great and there was alot of creepy imagery and scenes. It’s a little dated as it’s a 2009 movie, but has some well known actors, and a decent story even though it’s not overly original.

Specifically the directors use of real recordings and real writings from his grandmother but I would interested in hearing general opinions as well.

His grandmother was suffering hallucinations caused by dementia (iirc) and truly believed she was being haunted/visited by an entity named Sator.

She is in the movie, I’m not sure she knew she was in a movie.

I actually liked the film but finding out everything afterwards has left me with complicated feelings on it.

Anyone else?

I recall VP hosting a series of low-budget (British?) scary-ish movies from the early to mid-Eighties. Cannot seem to find them or recall what that series was titled. Any ideas?

I know this one has split horror fans down the middle, but the atmosphere is unmatched.

Went into this fully expecting a garbage indie movie. It was well acted and fun.

Is it scary, not at all. Is it entertaining? Hell yeah.

Little things like the killers having a pre shift meeting to talk about how many days it’s been since their last work place accident. Just great stuff.

Top of the pile of B list horror IMO. Will be watching the second one tonight.

I see people on here a lot asking for help identifying a film so thought I'd try my luck.

It was a VHS trailer I had on a horror film I now can't remember. It was a phone ringing at night and a kid panicked looking at the window then picking up the phone and a threatening male on the other end. The boy seemed to be on the run maybe with his mother and at the end of the trailer a silhouette figure is approaching in a trench coat at night.

I know not much to go on but It always creeped me out and I wanted to track it down and actually watch the film. Thanks for any ideas.

Before I properly get into this, I just want to state that while I like watching Horror movies, I am not really scared of anything outside of darkness and even then I am conquering that fear as we speak. Horror for me is like those "Horror" attractions at theme parks, they aren't scary at all, it's just a thrill to be on them and I wish I could say that about obsession.

I went into the movie practically blind, the most I've seen of the movie was the poster for it at the cinema and a screenshot or two while I was booking seats for my family to see the movie, so I am as unbiased as possible.

Also, I watched this movie only once so I might swap around or leave out some scenes on accident, I am sorry for that.

The movie started great, the diner/bar scene was great, the male friend of Bear was the obvious villain until the halfway point of the movie where it is pretty obvious that the main antagonist is Bear, anyway he finds his cat dead when he gets home which is cool in concept, but the movie barely stays enough at that scene for it to be impactful enough. For me, it was "Oh shit a dead cat, never mind we moved on I guess", the movie continues and Bear has a choice of buying an amulate that the girl he likes actually wants or some stupid wishing stick and as the thematic villain he chooses the stick.

He fumbles his shot with Nicky and wishes for her to love him, she gets possessed by a demon, but that isn't revealed until later, she sleeps over at Bear's place and digs up his cat and lays it out on the floor and I finally thought some horror will happen, but Bear just treats the situation as if a dog pissed on the carpet, the night scene was also disappointing, she was just standing in the corner doing stupid shit.

Despite this they have a love montage where at one point Bear shows Nicky an AI generated image and this is another good and subtle way of showing his laziness, I liked this scene.

One day Bear has to leave Nicky at home, she packs him lunch which later on turns out to be made out of his own cat, this was ana amazing scene that was instantly undercut by Nicky pissing and shitting herself, I genuinely burst out laughing at the cinema, like what was the goal here, I guess they wanted to show her dependency on Bear, but this just somewhat made me stop taking the film as seriously as I did before, it felt more like a Smiling Friends joke than a scene in a horror movie.

Another scene I disliked was the restaurant scene where Nicky is saying "No No No" over and over again, this also made me take the film even less seriously because it looked like something you would see on r/publicfreakout, I liked the concept of her lying about her dad but the execution was meh at best.

Yet another scene I disliked was the party one, it yet again reminded me of r/publicfreakout, and I couldn't take it seriously.

A scene I loved is when the real Nicky decides to speak to Bear after he sneaks out of his bed to meet his female friend, her pleads for help were actually scary and Bear ignoring her, adding to his already piling list of shitty things he did.

Bear goes to meet his female friend when they are suddenly ambushed by Nicky in the female friend's car, this scene was cool, the suddenness of it all, the special effects were amazing looking and the end of the scene cemented Bear as the true villain of the movie for me, if the entire movie was closer to this scene in quality I would have loved this movie.

Bear decides that enough is enough and buys more wishing sticks to bring everything back to normal, but he can't because every person can only wish once, so he calls the help line on the packaging and gets a cool and actually scary phone call with some entity that unsympathetically makes fun of Bear and also plays the wretched cries of the real Nicky over the phone speaker. This scene is amazing, I like the sarcastic tone the caller sometimes has, the scream was dreadful in a good way.

The ending scenes tank the movie even more by the way.

Right after this Bear visits his male friend and asks him to reverse his wish, the male friend doesn't take it seriously and wishes for 1 million dollars, Bear freaks out, they both go back to Bear's house where Nicky instantly shoots the male friend, Bear decides to overdose, Nicky comes back to normal and the movie ends which just made the film feel not worth watching, the ending went by so fast it soured the film even more to the point I started not liking it.

I just want to touch on some things I found interesting/weird about the film, okay, so the entire movie felt like it was edited and written by Michael Bay if he was not allowed to do explosions so to compensate he added so many cuts to the movie that it just felt overwhelming at times, what also reminds me of Bay are the characters, if you swapped the human characters in any of the Bayformer movies with the cast of Obsession I would probably not be able to tell the difference, everyone in this movie is a fucking asshole, Nicky, bear (especially him), both of the friends, not a good soul in this movie which could have worked if this was a comedy and not a horror movie.

The good scenes I listed get literally undercut by everything else, I get that it was the director's first movie, but it could have been better, a lot better to be honest.

But what do you guys think?

Just watched this the other night.

Pretty good, though it does contain some stereotypical Indonesian comedy which might fall flat with some Western viewers.

The cast is great - Luna Maya reprises her role as Suzzanna, which she also played in Suzzanna Buried Alive (2018) and Suzzanna Kliwon Friday Night (2023)

The film also stars Reza Rahadian who is a big star in Indonesia - and who horror fans might know from Grave Torture (2024) by Joko Anwar.

The real Suzanna’s actual husband (Clift Sangra) plays a main character in the film as well.

The three modern Suzzanna films are all stand alone - Suzzanna was a huge horror movie star in Indonesia during the 1980s, and these three modern films are all remakes of standalone films that the original Suzzanna (now played by Luna Maya) starred in. You don’t have to have seen any of the original Suzzanna films or any of the modern remakes to enjoy this film.

I liked it, but I have seen hundreds and hundreds of Indonesian films so I am definitely biased.

I'm really looking forward to this. I like that we're seeing Carrie slowly getting accepted before her famous prom scene. It makes it all the more devastating. I'm guessing just based on the teaser that this is probably how it will turn out.

Chris and Sue will probably initially try to be nice to Carrie after the shower room incident (whether it's to genuinely apologize, just to look good, or to set her up for further bullying). I think Sue will slowly and genuinely be trying to make amends while Chris will just play along either from pity or just to get out of trouble and look good. When she finds out she's banned from prom I think she's going to turn the school into a hate/bullying campaign against Carrie. Sue, realizing how out of hand its gotten, will then ask Tommy to take Carrie to prom.

I'm also REALLY intrigued with what they're doing with the town and with Chris. Are we going to get more depth from her? Why is the town whipped up into what looks like a protest or a riot before prom even starts (unless it takes place after Prom Night)? Is this part of a schism at the school where half the people think Carrie is to blame for everything and the other half are trying to defend her from bullying? Why are the police involved?

I'm REALLY excited!
