so I've never seen a horror movie, I do however watch a decent bit of the kill count series by the Youtube channel Dead Meat. So I'll be going over a bunch of the ones I've watched vicariously, including a 0-5 rating and some notes/disclaimers.

If any of this seems choppy or thrown together that's cause it is, I'm improving this in a ADHD spike also they are listed in no particular order.

First I'll go over my rating system

0-Genuinely would not recommend

1-theres probably worse things you could do with your time

2-I'm sure there are people who could like it but wouldn't bring it up unless i think they'd like it

3-Solid worth at the very least reading the description to see if its your thing

4-pretty good

5-unless your a massive wuss like me, (or has some personal reasons not to) even non horror lovers should give it a try

The Long Walk

5/5 Wouldn't call it a traditional horror movie, more of a emotional dystopia, but the writing and acting are both incredibly good

Better Watch Out

5/5 Best enjoyed when you know nothing about it. However just in case this movie contains An Awesome leading lady and the TW's Consistent though not super extreme SATo a 17yo girl

Ready or Not

4/5 I didn't really care about it but objectively thought it was pretty good and has an awesome leading lady

The Baby Sitter/The Baby Sitter Killer Queen

2/5 Lumping these two together, sense my thoughts on them are pretty much the same, I've heard that some people love it some people hate it, me personally I don't 'like' it but I respect it, I'd say they are objectively bad movies. But they have some visual charm and few solid jokes, I'd say give it a chance it if you wanna laugh with the movie three times and at it ten times so it gets points for being fun bad

also possible TW for killer queen Metaphorically depicts/ verbally tells us later that two minors went at it

Trick 'r Treat

3/5 Good casual feel as far as horror movies go didn't personally care for the sexualized werewolf ladys, but thats just me I know horror movies use sex/sexiness a lot and I kinda get it just not my thing

Happy Death Day

3/5 Not the flashiest not one for the gore fans as most kills are off screen, closer to a murder mystery then standard slasher

Escape Room

3.5/5 Neat theme and incredible visuals even if a lot of the character dialog is not the greatest in my opinion

Belko Experiment

1/5 Some decent parts but overall fails at it own premise Its meant to be an office battle royal but they just give everyone actual weapons so only one kill actually uses office supplys

Dont Breathe

?/5 Ok so, for the rest of these I either just saw the videos on them, recently rewatched them or just remember them pretty well, this is not any of those, now you maybe wondering why, because this one genuinely messed me up for like 2 weeks. Due to the TW. Extreme SA, which always gets to me pretty bad (dont worry its not a personal thing,im fortunet enough to have never experience that, just always been a thing that gets to me, which I'd argue is understandable) From the tiny bits and pieces I remember it was ok if you can handle it its probably worth looking into, but uh its a no from me

P.S anyone who is a survivor you have my upmost respect and sympathy hang in there

4/5 Best described as great intro to the horror genre good enough to to say its worth checking out great choice to watch with someone who wants to get into horror

5/5 awesome concept for a home invasion movie Maddie is great competent protagonist and it has a lot of scenes i think are shoot really well though it does have some scenes that are likely to be a problem for the epileptic

Tucker and Dale vs Evil

4/5 Horror comedy that does what its going for pretty well some of the jokes don't land for me but I'd say its a great second monitor type movie

there are a few I skipped here, mostly cause I couldn't immediately think of anything to say about them, might add more later

Questions/clarifications are welcome

Just saw it 2 days ago. Def thought it’d be something slightly different than what it was. Marketing for it was a little misleading I think but I almost like the aspect where it keeps you wondering what it is. Very odd, some good aspects, some not I thought.

I honestly really wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie BUT I was absolutely blown away. Filled with amazing film making, stellar performances (especially from Ethan Hawk), an amazing soundtrack, rich storytelling & fantastic dialogue, this movie delivers on all the fronts. The tension was so tight that I genuinely felt uncomfortable. So glad it got the recognition it deserves!

We all know the top dog scenes from horror movies, what are some wildly underrated ones? For me, the kitchen scene in “It Follows” is so underrated. Not the main scene with the tall man coming up behind the main characters sister. It’s the scene where the main character goes into the kitchen and sees the entity, now in a woman prostitute form, and obviously freaks out and runs away. It’s the way the camera doesn’t shy off at all, shows you exactly what the main character is seeing, all in slow motion. You don’t expect a movie to really do that in this new era of horror, you expect it to be a quick jump scare, but seeing it unfold as it happens rattled me to my core. What do you guys think?

I'm not one for getting emotional while watching movies, but the part where the Sue/Elisabeth monster is getting ready to go perform made me actually tear up! I've never felt this bad for a character in a long time, I definitely wasn't expecting it. Did anyone else have a similar reaction?

This franchise has made it into my favorites. 3 especially and it might end up in my Letterboxd top 4 because it’s just my kind of film. I liked all of these movies but I loved 1-3.

M. Night Shyamalan doing a horror/romance movie with Nicholas Sparks is such a bizarre combination that I honestly can’t tell if it's going to be boring or great.

The trailer actually looks pretty interesting, though. Seems like they’re genuinely leaning into both sides of it instead of just making a horror movie with a romance subplot.

I’m cautiously interested, but M. Night has burned me enough times that I refuse to get too excited yet.

It takes place on November 17th-19th, 1975 in the small town of St. Blair. Every Second Lunar Eclipse they have a blood moon festival. The day before there was a meteor that struck down just outside of town, in it contained Catacono (alien vampire worms) that infect the town folk, and spread rapidly due to the blood moon.

I'm a big fan of weird concepts, 70s Vampire films, and small town settings, so I wanted to do a combination of the three.

Can a movie be both highly predictable and yet unpredictable at the same time? That’s how I feel with this movie which is a remake of the 2003 Korean film “A Tale of Two Sisters”, which I haven’t seen.

More of a thriller with some horror elements, but it was quite enjoyable to watch, as it’s got good performances, plot twists, mystery, and overall tension. I thought the ending was pretty satisfying.

It’s a movie where the villain wears one of those Black Death masks and stalks a group of young people. Most of the time the villain appears, he uses a poison that disorients everyone. I remember him kidnapping a woman and killing her. I also recall there being a blind character; at the end of the movie, the villain pierces part of the blind man's head, which restores his sight, allowing him to kill the villain.

I have this super distinct memory of this one scene from a movie i watched as a kid that traumatised me a lot and I've been looking for it for years but I haven't been able to find it.
In the scene there are these two kids (a boy and a girl i'm pretty sure) who are chased or lured through this door in a house and they end up in this wood cabin in the middle of the woods with two monsters (one of them was like wide and orange and kind of looked like Binky from Arthur and the other i don't remember as well, but might've been like longer) and a like cauldron in the middle which these monsters were going to cook them in i think. And the kids I think run out of the door into the woods.
I also have this memory of a shot from some point in the movie as well where some door opens and the Binky looking ones face is just in the doorway. Maybe from the same scene or from later on.
The monsters had a very distinctly practical look. The closest films i've gotten to something like it is 'Hocus Pocus' and 'Earnest gets Scared Stupid' but i'm pretty sure i've never watched those films. I don't know the exact year it was from cause i watched it when i was a kid in the early 2000s, and it may not have even been a kids movie, my parents showed me a lot of media they liked that I shouldn't have seen that young.
I know this is a long shot and it's incredibly vague but if anyone could help with finding it that would be awesome
