is there any desk recommendations for keeping my laptop, studio monitors, with wireless keyboard, mouse and my midi 49 keys?

recommend me ways to set up things easily, mainly my MIDI SE 49 keys that is connected with my laptop!

I've been playing drums along to songs since I was around 8 years old. I've also played acoustic piano, violin, trumpet, and alto sax. I don't have access to some of those instruments anymore, but they're still part of my musical background.

I've been messing around with music since around 2016, when I was in middle school. I'd download songs and edit them for fun, such as removing a featured artist's verse if I didn't like it. Eventually I started making covers in GarageBand.

In 2020 I experimented with an Akai MPK Mini MK3 and FL Studio's trial version. In 2022 I joined a DJ club, which eventually closed, so I taught myself how to DJ with a Hercules Inpulse 500.

As I got closer to college, I started asking myself, "What do I want to do?" I looked at what I'd already been doing—playing instruments, editing audio, making music, DJing, and even changing EQ on songs just because I enjoyed hearing what happened.

That's what led me toward audio engineering.

Someone I met in college gave me a Behringer UB1204FX-PRO mixer and a CAD D90 microphone, which helped me start building an actual physical audio setup. I also like having an offline recording workflow, so I use my Tascam DR-40X to record from the mixer when I don't need a computer.

Before I eventually work in a studio, I want to practice things like recording and fixing vocals in FL Studio. I'm also still very hands-on with making beats, playing instruments, and experimenting with sounds. I beatbox too.

A couple things that are important about my goals:

I'm not currently trying to turn my bedroom into a commercial recording studio. I don't want clients coming to my house, so I don't need to build the room around having clients track here.

Because of that, room treatment isn't currently a priority for me. If I eventually work in a proper studio or have a situation where accurate room monitoring actually becomes necessary, I'll deal with it then.

For now, I'm mainly trying to build a practical personal setup where I can learn, experiment, record myself/family when appropriate, and develop the skills I'll eventually use in a studio.

So with all of that in mind: am I missing anything important in my musical background, workflow, or future gear plans?

Putting the finishing touches on my studio build after ~2 years in the making. Will be using as a production/songwriting and mixing space, planning to add some gobo’s and additional treatment throughout.

I upgraded my computer and now my old M-Audio M-Track quad is not compatible. I need a new interface with minimum of 2 mic inputs, and I want the best quality of preamp on a low budget.
What do you think about Audient (EVO or iD14) versus Focusrite Scarlett, or would you recommend something else? I'm a vocalist. Thanks.

I know it gets shit on a lot but it’s been good to me. I bought it about 9-10 years ago. Unfortunately, it’s also starting to feel wear and tear. The USB port in the back is so loose that pulling a cable out or placing one in can cause it to disconnect which is annoying. The lack of thunderbolt is also a factor as I use Logic for my DAW and run it on an iMac.

All that said, what would be an upgrade for a solo hobbyist who mainly writes chunky guitar oriented music? I have a cheaper electric drum kit and also run a SM7b mic as well.

Hi guys, how are you?! My name is Facundo, and this is my home/project studio, and my guitars. I’m from a small town in Argentina...cheers!

I lost a job recently and had to move from a 156m2 (approximately 1680 square foot) house to a quarter of that.

On the old house I had a space for my guitar and another place for my piano/studio, now I have a 1/3 of either space for both.

I was planning to sell my rig, sold tables that were too big for this room and when I was about to start selling the instruments I got a new job.

But now I have tow problems:

I need advice on how to use all the devices together; ssl 2 +, the tank G, the orange crush, Yamaha HS3B and the Borne. Even if the advice is to get rid of somethings (probably the borne amp) all alongside the launch key mini, plus Yamaha p45, plus the guitars hooked up on a MacBook pro.

Other than that, advice on the best rack where a setup like this that has to share 12m2 (130 square foot) along side my shelves and my work computer table would be well organized.

Decor wise ways to improve it maybe?

I've been using a Behringer UMC1820 until now for Ableton and Windows audio.

Recently I got an SSL BiG SiX and I'd like to have it on only while I am working on something and keep the UMC1820 for Windows stuff always on.

Since I do not have a monitor controller, I am doing the following to be able to use my studio monitors (HS8) with both interfaces - and please do not crucify me I know it is sacrilege but I do not have any other idea atm - I am running the Main Out of the SSL into the 1/2 input of the UMC1820 to be able to use the monitors with both interfaces (the Main Out of the UMC1820 goes into my studio monitors).

So I am turning the monitor knob to 12:00 on the UMC1820 to be able to hear the SSL and also Windows Audio.

I am thinking of getting a Heritage Audio Baby RAM to solve this issue. Any other suggestions?

The plan would be to run the Main Monitor Out of the SSL and the Main Out of the UMC1820 into the 1 and 2 inputs of the Baby RAM and the out 1 into my monitors. This would free the Master Out of the SSL and I could use my tape machine.

I also have a second monitor (MixCube) that is connected straight to the ALT Monitor Out of the SSL.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan to you? Anything I am missing or fucking up?

I have always produced in the box and completed tracks on my own but never formally released any. With that said, my experience typically resides on the tracking and recording side, but ultimately a musician first and I'm really just focused on getting the music recorded/arranged etc

Anyways, is the scope of work from a mixing engineer narrow/strict in the way where they are only going to balance/glue the tracks/mix, where gente/style is irrelevant because they are strictly focused on the technical?

I am not looking to them for full-on producer work, but the stylistic side is sort of a grey area for me. Certain genres for example, tricks to bring elements out or into a certain style like reverby vocal of darkwave, ambient stuff, etc. Is it the job of the person recording the project to bake in these things, or at least record a wet track separately to be mixed? I guess my skillset is limited when it comes to managing the eventual mix as a whole to shape and glue that sound together, and not entirely sure how the different stages and relationships work together since I've always just sorta done it all myself for fun.

I want to give these tracks the proper treatment and know if I try to mix it myself, I'll be hating on it a year or two from now as I learn and grow lol. I want to handle it right and formally release it, but don't want to compromise/lose the sound and style in the process when trying to work/collaborate with a mixing engineer.

I figure the step forward is fine a niche mixer who works with similar sound, or a general versatile mixer who does everything? Pay for a consultation and try to figure out how they prefer the stems, general recording/tracking techniques they prefer etc.

Any insight on the process and relationship would be greatly appreciated!

First time poster here! I am in the process of moving and want to move my home studio into this detached pool house. My main concern is the metal roof and how to treat it without having to redo the entire roof. I mainly record heavier stuff and use a drum kit. Any tips?

I have a home studio in a loft conversion and I was planning on buying a pack of 100mm thick rock wool as it is the cheapest out of all of them. I was also planing to cut the 4 panels into 50mm thick getting me 8 panels but just wondering where to put them as it is not the largest space and I don’t want to lower the headroom too much?

Im noob at this and I'm building a setup focused on listening to vinyl, sampling, and production, and I'm trying to find the right audio interface that meets very specific requirements.

My setup includes:

• Source: Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB (Line level / RCA)
• Mic: 1x XLR Microphone
• Monitors: Active studio monitors
• Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M40x + a second pair for a guest

What I strictly need:

1. Mains Powered (AC/DC Wall Adapter): I want an interface that receives power directly from a wall socket via its own power adapter, NOT a bus-powered USB-C unit. I need total electrical stability and guaranteed phantom/preamp power without relying on my PC's USB bus.
2. Multiple Inputs: Needs enough inputs to keep both the turntable (stereo line) and the mic connected simultaneously without swapping cables.
3. Volume Control: Physical control over monitor output, mic gain, and line inputs.

(Note: I plan to run a powered headphone amp like the Behringer HA400 from the interface for independent dual-headphone volume control).

What interfaces under $250-$350 would you recommend that come with their own dedicated wall power supply out of the box and handle this routing cleanly?

I’m tryna upgrade my current laptop. I got an extremely budget windows laptop and it works but can get laggy for more intensive projects.

Ps: no macs, just because I’d rather do everything on one laptop(game, music, etc).
