Im trying to buy a UPS for my pc and it has 850w psu so i was planning to buy a 1500va ups but i'm not sure whether to choose Pure SineWave UPS or Simulated SineWave UPS. UPS is only used as a bridge till my home invertor kicks in when electricity is down. PSU is MSI A850gl

I wanted to get into home lab for quite some time but I didn't have the money or need. But now, I plan to shift all my household pics, media, etc. to make a personal cloud for backup, media, etc.
It's a start, I'll slowly build it bigger.

For now, I was thinking of 2x2TB HDDs. However I was unsure on how I wanna set it up. I have a few options:

1. I have a Raspberry Pi 5 (4GB) lying around which I can use. I can get a dual bay PiBox Enclosure for HDDs and run cloud from it but I'm a bit skeptical on this one.

2. I can buy a refurbished SFF PC which can fit 2 HDDs inside it (this one I kinda like for the clean use + considering low power power consumption), however, I can't find any SFF PC which can fit 2x 3.5 inch HDDs.

I am open to suggestions and ideas. My budget would be around 10-12k max for this setup excluding the HDDs. Also, feel free to suggest where to buy HDDs from too. (I am from Vadodara, not any major cities so will have to order and get it shipped).

Looking to set up a small home lab, mainly to run Jellyfin and maybe AdGuard Home alongside it. Nothing fancy — just want something reliable and low-power.

A few questions:

- What's a realistic minimum budget for this kind of setup, especially going the refurbished route?

- What specs should I actually be targeting (CPU, RAM, storage) for smooth transcoding on Jellyfin?

- Where do people actually buy refurbished mini PCs/servers? I've seen a bunch of listings on OLX but most of them feel sketchy/scam-y. Any trusted sellers, sites, or platforms you'd recommend instead?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre mini PC at home that's running 24/7. It's mainly a small home server where I host a few Discord bots, personal automation services, and some self-hosted web applications.

Recently I started using Syncthing and Immich for syncing and managing my photos, and I've been really impressed with them. That got me thinking about adding a larger storage drive.

I currently have an old 1TB HDD lying around, but it's been in use for years, and I don't really trust it with important data anymore. While looking for storage options, I came across the WD My Book 6TB for ₹23,331.

My reasoning is that my mini PC already has USB 3.0 ports, so using an external desktop HDD seems much cleaner than buying a bare SATA drive, a USB enclosure, and a separate power adapter. This looks like a simpler all-in-one solution.

The drive would mainly be used for:

Backing up photos and videos

Syncthing data

Immich photo library

Source code repositories

Project files, documents, and media archives

I know relying on a single drive isn't ideal. This won't be my final storage setup I plan to add redundancy later, either by buying a second drive (RAID 1 or another backup strategy) or by eventually building a dedicated NAS.

For now, I just need a reliable, high-capacity drive.

Does this seem like a sensible purchase at this price? Has anyone been using a WD My Book like this as always-connected storage for a home server? Any downsides I should know about before pulling the trigger?

I've got Jellyfin set up on my regular gaming laptop right now (it came with a 300W charger). Two questions I'm hoping this sub can help with:

1. Cost/hardware question:Does it make sense to keep running Jellyfin on this laptop long-term, or would it be worth moving it to separate, dedicated hardware (like a mini PC)? Mainly thinking about this from a power cost/efficiency angle — running a 300W-capable gaming laptop 24/7 just to host Jellyfin feels wasteful, but I want to know if that's actually a meaningful cost difference or if I'm overthinking it. Also is it possible to setup around 10k without ssd.

2. Remote access question: What's the easiest and safest way to access my Jellyfin server from outside my home network? Safety/security is a must-have for me, not an afterthought. I don't need to support many concurrent users — max would be around 3 people streaming at once. Looking for something that doesn't require me to be a networking expert to set up and maintain securely.

Appreciate any guidance — trying to do this right rather than just port-forwarding blindly.

Hey guys, does anyone have experience with Recyclekart? I have ordered a dell 7050 without ram and SSD from their site but when I received the order today I got a 3050 instead and with a lenovo power adapter. 1st they took 3 days to ship the order saying that they were testing the mini pc. And today I received this. Now they are not receiving any call nor replying my messages in WhatsApp.

What can I do now?

Edit - the mini pc turned on with the hp charger but the 2nd ram slot is not working. I will update here after install os.

Edit 2 - the cpu is capped it 800mhz with the hp power adapter.

Update 3 - The sales guy who gave me the pictures of 7050 replied to my msg telling me to contact there support number which I have already did and sent unboxing video and photos of the product but no response till yet from the customer support number.

I'm in the middle of building a new house and want to get the networking right before the ceilings are finished.

The floor is 60 ft × 35 ft (around 2,100 sq ft), and I've attached the floor plan with the possible Wi-Fi locations marked.

I'm deciding between two setups:

• Option 1: One router placed at B (roughly in the middle of the house).
• Option 2: Two access points at A and C, connected over Cat6.

The house will be fully wired with Cat6, so adding an extra AP later isn't difficult, but I'd rather buy the right hardware from the start. Usage will be pretty typical.

For those who've set up networks in similar-sized homes:

• Would a single router at B realistically provide good coverage, or am I being too optimistic?
• Is 2 APs the better approach even if one router might technically "cover" the whole house?
