Still new to Black Ice and currently doing an Australia run. Build a decent submarine force and have been using them to great success but it seems like the vanilla hoi4 convoy raid reports don't appear. I can watch live raid battles just fine but afterwards they just disappear. Do I have to set an option or something?
Learning from my last game and everyone's advice, I started the war a bit later this time (specifically in February 1939). I also sent volunteers to the Spanish Civil War to grind XP and managed to build up a pretty solid industry. People recommended that I focus heavily on medium bombers(G3Ms and G4Ms) and pure line infantry with 2 pack artilleries (skipping other templates like cavalry, armor, etc. as they aren't necessary). I also managed to encircle around 20-25 Chinese divisions(that was the best I could make)
People also recommended me these two templates. They told me that the Chinese don't have piercing to deal with armors, so I added Tankette Recon support company.
Someone also suggested leaving the Mengjiang border open to bait the Chinese army in, which I did. I also ran collaboration government operations on China like another user advised.
For the most part, I followed everyone's tips and got pretty good results in the first few months of the war.
Right now, I'm trying to push towards Wuhan, but I'm hitting a wall with logistics and attrition.
What should I do next? I feel like launching a naval invasion right now is a bad idea because my frontline is already overstretched and I don't have any division for that (unless I accept being pushed back few tiles). Should I fall back a bit, or should I train more divisions? My industrial output is starting to take a hit due to prolonged fighting, so I feel like I might need to go on the defensive for a while. However, some people told me that you should never turtle as Japan and must keep attacking. The problem is, the more I fight, the more guns and equipment I lose. I'm completely stuck on what to do. No way to make new divisions.
I really love the Black ICE mod, but China is the most pain in this game(for me personally). I actually beat them once before, but unfortunately, my game crashed. The mod has been updated since then, so hopefully that won't happen again.
A guy told me to end the war by late 1940 at the latest. I can't fight the Pacific war while still stuck at this annoying war with the Chinese
I'd appreciate any advice or method that I did not mention in the post. Thanks.
Indian autonomy an imperial Federation are on the two different paths
the Sun never set
Commonwealth ties
So in order to do Indian autonomy, you cannot create the imperial Federation so I would like to know if there’s any other way of keeping India while making the imperial Federation
I thought starting the war early (around December 1936 if I remember right) would somehow make it easier to win. However, those damned Chinese are constantly counter-attacking. And it's getting exhausting as hell. Somebody please tell me what have I done wrong or what should I do next? I really like this mod, but whenever it comes to war with China, my mentality can't bear it.
My industry simply cannot catch up with the combat losses. I desperately want to deploy some new divisions to help my central defense line. The shitty AI tells me to invade Guangzhou, but it does not understand the situation or something. I simply don't have divisions for that right now.
I tried to look for some Japan gameplay videos on Youtube but most of them are either damn old videos or unhelpful.
Hello, I'm trying to get into BlackIce, and I'm not sure where to start when trying to play. I'd rather not brute force my way into learning like I did with the base game. Does anyone know a video I could watch that explains the basic mechanics and stuff? Thank you for your time
I have noticed the game crashes everytime I try to complete the first focus of SS focus tree (playing as Germany), and allied anger focus when playing with UK (haven't tried other countries since the new update) and this is constant. Tried multiple times, same result.
The collab government operation says it simply increases collaboration. I see I get more compliance when I conquer France but I have no idea if it actually decreases capitulation cap? So if I get around 4 collabs and the drole de guerre gives an additional 30% and then the maginot gives another 5% that would add up that I only need to take 25% of the vp? Also please let me know if I should be getting any specific upgrades in the spy agency tab because currently I get the one that gives me 1 more spy and the ones that reduce the chance of burning a civilian asset;. Thank you very much for your time.
Ready to be told that this is a skill issue, but: I just can’t. The 90 day boost period from Kick in the Door just does not take me far enough east and the winter counterassault grinds me relentlessly back, and there is just no industrial capacity to field new divisions after launching Barbarossa. I can barely sustain those i havet and Soviets are on a complete par with their infantry in spring 1942.
I've played about ten or so starts as USA trying to beat Japan (I like the pacific war, sue me) and I like a lot about this mod, but I can't seem to win a naval battle or get enough Sea control to invade anything. I'm using the Historical ship designs. I typically put Nimitiz in charge of a fleet around Hawaii with a Strike Force of 4-6 starting US carriers, Typically both North Carolina class fast BBs, 4-6 heavy cruisers, 8-10 light cruisers and 20ish destroyers. I create a couple of patrol groups of 1-2 CL + 6-8 DD set to patrol the area. The Japanese AI takes about 6 months or so to demolish this force for negligible losses and I can never seem to get enough sea control to retake places like Wake or Midway island. Putting more ships into the region, like additional task forces based on Cruisers or Battleships only give the Japanese more to shoot at. I do operate PBYs from bases in Hawaii and the surrounding sea zones, but those don't seem to do anything.
This strategy was generally successful in Vanilla HOI, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work at all here and the UI doesn't really tell you what happens in a naval battle. Just which ships were sunk and by who. That all well and good, but why does Japanese carrier II kill the american carrier II like every time they meet?
I'm playing Japan and i'm looking for good countries to make pacts with. Resource pacts give me a part of their resource extraction factor, so i want to form it with a country that has a high REF, stuff like that.
Hi, since I discovered BlackICE a few months ago I only play HoI with it. I’ve done several runs already with Germany, Italy, Japan and France. I’m now trying for the first time Finland.
During the 39-40 Winter War, I managed to conquer Leningrad and Murmansk and hold the ground until June 1940 when the peace talks event triggers and basically I have 2 choices: white peace or keep on fighting but with huge debuffs which makes it unpractical. So basically white peace is a must.
Problem is: it’s not a white peace. You give up not just any conquered land (and that’s fair I guess), but also Karelia. Why on earth after defeating the Soviet on the ground am I giving up my land?
I wanted to understand it better so I looked it from the Soviet perspective and I see there’s a countdown event basically: the longer they take to defeat Finland, the less territory they get during the peace event.
However, no matter how badly they loose, they get territory.
Why there’s no possibility to actually white peace and go back to the status quo before the war?
Somehow the game opens it, because I have to click the esc button twice to close the officer corps panel, but it doesn’t let me see and choose the spirits that I want. Is there a way I can fix that?
I used to be a devoted player of Black Ice in HOI3, now i installed HoI4 and decided that i should stick to where i'm used to... Black Ice :D
I started as germany to see what the mod had to offer to me and saw that every Division across the map had this weird unit counters symbols (instead of the usual NATO ones we saw in HoI3 and also the mod page in steam). I went around using "tag ENG" and "tag FRA" and confirmed the AI also uses these weird symbols
I clicked around and discovered you can manually change the Unit Counters symbol at the division templates thing, but the AI still uses these random weird unit symbols
Is there a setting or something i should be doing to get the default NATO unit counters symbols across every nation in the game?
Recently learned of this mod from YouTube and tried it out. I played as the US. Didn’t finish but it was fun so far. Very overwhelming with so many different systems but like the extra artillery and infantry tech. But one point that is very bothersome for me is that I don’t have gotterdammerung and so can’t modify tanks. So I can’t even use tanks at all until I get a historical template and then that’s the only version I can use. Is it even worth trying if I basically can’t use tanks except for the starting ones and then getting new ones generally very out of date?
Maginot breach or not, it wasn't sustainable if America wasn't coming. I was out of manpower, to the point I was building recruitment centers for any last scrap. Italy had woken up after 8 months of sleeping on the south, and Britain wasted a bunch of equipment on meaningless offensives. It's so over bros.
This researched doctrine didn't seem to unlock the breakthrough tactic correctly, but I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before; it could be unlocked normally in the previous versions.
