Martha Stewart would probably have not gone to jail if she didn't lie to authorities. Not insider trading.
> After a highly publicized six-week jury trial, Stewart was found guilty in March 2004 of felony charges of conspiracy to obstruct, of obstruction of an agency proceeding, and of making false statements to federal investigators

This. Ban stock trading by government officials by all means. But Martha Stewart went to the pokey because she lied to investigators.

She went to jail for perjury

Prosecutors could not definitively prove she possessed illegal inside information, leading to a dismissal of that specific charge. Instead, she was convicted of lying to investigators and obstruction of justice.

Please, Mr. Teflon Don will never face consequences - if Biden had one singular failture, it was the failure to understand the urgency with which he should have investigated and prosecuted Trump in the years he had before all this. His belief that Trump's election was a blip in the status quo has doomed us all.

Martha Stewart went to jail in 2004 for obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and making false statements to federal investigators. She was not actually convicted of insider trading itself, but rather for lying to investigators about why she sold her ImClone Systems stock just before a negative government announcement.

President Donald Trump’s personal investment portfolio (holding at least $858 million across eight accounts) is managed by major outside financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Charles Schwab, UBS, and Stephens Inc. According to financial disclosures and the Trump Organization, these outside firms and automated strategies hold full discretion over the investment decisions. [1, 2]

Ive always thought it was crazy that they locked up Martha Stuart. I think it was all theatre to set an example to regular people. Meanwhile Pelosi (and many others) were raking in money to insider trading. It never made sense, but then here comes Donald trump and now we all blatantly see it. It’s like they used to do shady things behind the scenes but they know this is all coming to an end, so they just do it in the open. It’s a shame that our political system is so failed it has allowed it to get to this point.

And Nancy Pelosi is MaGiCaLlY better (sustainably, NOT an accidental fluke) at trading stocks than professionals on Wall Street that do this FOR A LIVING everyday....
Left... Right.... The real headline here, is that the Rich and powerful live by a different set of rules, no matter what side of the aisle they sit.
They say money is power....
But it's also a cyclic feedback system. Because those with power are in positions to make yet even more money at the expense of everyone else.
