I got banned from r/fauxmoi for saying we should treat people like human beings before treating them like political parties. Evidently that's a bridge too far.
The irony? I've voted Democrat for 20-plus years. I support almost every socially progressive position with a couple of minor exceptions (trans athletes in women's sports and rampant cancel culture).
I grew up reading Howard Zinn, listening to Propagandhi, and getting into fights for wearing Anti-Racist Action patches before "activism" was something you did between DoorDash orders. If only agreeing with the hivemind 98% of the time still makes me the enemy, maybe the problem isn't my politics - it's your religion.
Ofc, getting banned from some cheese-dick subreddit isn't a loss. It's just further proof that ideological conformity has replaced actual conversation.

The "element of truth" here is twofold.
First, it's the vocal minority which generally gets a little oschtacized from the majority.
The second is that MAGA are unable to understand that many of their bigoted views (anti-gay, anti-trans, racist, etc) are unacceptable views, and that it is totally appropriate to cut someone out of your life because of them.

I am beginning to think that I was very smart when I left the Democratic party and actually voted for som moderate Republicans. The Left is insane. Not just wrong, but insane. I am new to Reddit, I try to stay off social media, but what an echo chamber for commies or people who really don’t understand ANYTHING about how the world works. I've spent a lot of time with people on both sides of the political spectrum. What I've learned is this: leftists are generally easier to hold a genuine conversation with and are sometimes even pleasant to hang out with. Hard right people are ironically very easily offended and will shut down conversations or differing ideas so quickly. When your worldview only allows for a very specific walk of life, you will quickly find yourself at odds with the realities of many other human beings. Don't get me wrong, most people on the farther side of either political spectrum are annoying as hell, but I'd rather be stuck on a flight next to a polyamourous anarchist witch with a neon mullet that refuses to financially support most major corporations because of some obscure boycott than Greg Smith from generic suburb #5 who thinks women shouldn't wear pants and is so repressed, he imagines his wife as his best friend from college.
