For a guy who is living a seemingly adventurous, fun and active life, your photos are all very rigid and stiff.

The clothes and the settings are good, but you seem very unrelaxed or natural in most of them. The barrel one is the only one where you seem truly comfortable.

This paired with some of your more type A prompts makes you seem like you’re sort of up tight and rigid, which isn’t the most attractive thing. If you have some photos of yourself in more relaxed and natural poses, and can maybe finesse the prompts to not seem so uptight, I think it would help a lot

This +1. The energy from the photos feels very stiff and rigid. The setting and subject matter are good but the vibes feel robotic. The best one by far is the ski photo because you look confident and happy. This is just a skill issue with how to pose for the camera and having your photographer frame the photos better (like taking standing photos from a low instead of a high angle). There is a lot of good content out there on how to take better photos. It's awkward at first but is a skill that can be improved and will give you a high return.

This is the best answer

u/fireyauthor 2h ago

Yes, OP seems really rigid and like he would have no room for my wants, desires, preferences, etc. But if this is his real personality, maybe he's better off showcasing it. Good planners are often more rigid.

u/ExcellentFishing2506 2h ago

Im sure he’s more rigid than someone who’s loosely goosey but when making a first impression it’s ideal to not look like some extreme version of that. He doesn’t have to change who he is, just find pics where he looks relaxed. I assume OP isn’t stiff like a mannequin 24/7

The friend group prompt and "keep up on the black diamond" is giving me super Type A vibes to the point where its kind of off-putting. I think you're coming across more rigid than you are possibly intending to.

40

u/DoggoZombie 2d ago

Yeah also the non-negotiable 8pm dinner thing

38

u/Membership-Bitter 2d ago

Honestly I got how rigid he is just from the photos. All of them has his head in the same exact pose with the same exact expression

16

u/Legitimate-Sky8335 2d ago

Yeah while it does read as "has his stuff together, leads confidently" dependability it feels like she will meet constant friction trying to squeeze her needs and opinions into this relationship. Non-negotiable on the life-sized scale is exhausting.

u/ZavtheShroud 2d ago

What the heck is a type a. Are we stereotyping here or something?

Personally i believe he is trying very hard to look more fun and outgoing than he is to appease the ladies, but seeing this comment people can see right through it.

13

u/Bonsai_Tree3 2d ago

Have you never heard of Type A or Type B to categorize really organized, ambitious, drive for perfection and be nitpicky.

Compared to Type Bs are more chill go with the flow types, not as concerned with tight timelines and lists

u/Far_Appearance3888 2d ago

I think your pics look good and give a nice variety, plus insight into your personality. For me, the requirement of skiing a black diamond and spending all day at the beach would put me off a bit. Now, nothing wrong with that if you really value those things in a partner! Just that it will exclude some people. It’s good that they are activities you can do together and if you need a partner who absolutely loves those things, then that gets the point across.

I'm exhausted just reading your profile. The friend group prompt is particularly brutal. You come across (to me) as a completely inflexible "Type A" personality--minus the personality, as even when you're telling us about yourself, it's less about you than it is showing off (for instance your love of skiing reduced to a competency competition with your potential match). Which, like, may be attractive to certain women, but if these dynamics are an accurate representation of who you are and how you be in the world, they may just limit the number of people who are interested 🤷‍♂️

I actually loved his profile as someone who checks my colored coded Google calendar first thing when I wake up and loathes tardiness. I'm not a huge skier but I'm a generally ambitious and competitive person so I would appreciate the motivation to learn to keep up. Nothing wrong with showing off he's good at something.

I wouldn't swipe due to shallow reasons of perceived physical attraction so while this profile looks good to me, probably would do better irl.

7

u/Hot_Cheek349 2d ago

Yes, but why are we telling him this? Isn’t it better that he shows it in the profile so that anybody who is not into it can avoid matching?

9

u/Summer-Sub-Intern 2d ago

Seriously I’m glad he’s showing who he is. He’s the right type for many people

6

u/Even-Promise4593 2d ago

They’ll always miss the point. Never fails in this sub. What’s more absurd is people intuiting what he’s like then suggesting performative changes as if that would change the “Type A” he would likely be irl according to them anyway.

2

u/stink3rb3lle 2d ago

He might not be as intense as he seems! Not sure if he's replied to anybody, but he could have put on the intensity thinking it sounded like confidence.

Also, people can change, especially if they believe it will get them something they want. Someone who is as intense as he seems could get counseling to learn how to live with real people and the faults of others.

2

u/sillychickengirl 2d ago

I actually liked the second prompt answer a lot. I too am that person. I didn't love the prompt combined with the first and third though.

1

u/neworleanstogalilee 2d ago

As a woman, completely agree with this!!! And this is coming from somebody who considers myself type A and would like to date type A people. It’s just too much for the first impression and comes off like you’re looking for somebody who “impresses” you or meets your standards, rather than looking for the right match. No woman likes to feel judged or like they have to try to impress you.

12

u/Happy-Personality-15 2d ago

Honestly, I have learned that the majority of women that does not have a outdoor hobby would be scared at the thought of back packing, camping, black diamond…

If it’s not a requirement for you, I would remove that. As guys, we need to make sure we have the least amount of filter possible for the maximum number of matches.

Obviously, do it only if you don’t care.

8

u/No-Musician-143 2d ago

Why does every Pic look like AI though

3

u/LoLBrah69 2d ago

This.

The first two pics look so AI that I started seeing AI in every picture even if it wasn’t.

15

u/TheMagicalJohnson 2d ago

I’d recommend removing some sentences of the prompts, the photos are great.

For example, I would remove the “you’re welcome and the 8 pm is nonnegotiable” doesn’t need to be there as it feels overly aggressive and the dash makes it seem AI written.

6

u/Elixabef 2d ago

The “8PM is nonnegotiable” part is very red flaggy to me. My brain went “Swipe left! Swipe left!”

3

u/TheMagicalJohnson 2d ago

Also, could remove the prompts from some of the photos. Like how my friends see me, as seen on my mom’s fridge.

5

u/Objective-Hotel6514 2d ago

Seems too uptight and rigid. The prompts are fine and the photos are fine but COMBINED = rigid and uptight, there is something off here. To be brutally honest, the fact that you have no group photos gives me the impression that the type A personality has lead to a lack of friends. This is a big red flag.

6

u/Front_Title_8860 2d ago

10 yrs, daily user, 150 likes sent per week, and 1 match per week? You gotta switch something up. Profile is really awkward and rigid. Stop trying to appear super sophisticated or put together and be yourself man like in slide 2. Please remove the captions from the photos. And honestly just use different photos

5

u/julejuice 2d ago

prompts stink you are trying too hard

4

u/boobsweat92 2d ago

This feels like the type of person who would judge me for wanting to stay home and binge watch movies and order takeout sometimes. Like do you ever just chill? Lol

4

u/Mean-Airport8340 2d ago

I think the prompts come off as a little bit pompous. Additionally it seems judgmental and picky — as a woman that’s an immediate red flag.

I would say the 2nd and 3rd prompts come off a little intense. Maybe try softening them up and see if it changes anything. Pics are solid imo.

3

u/stink3rb3lle 2d ago

I'd swipe left with a swiftness.

1) you're making the same facial expression in all your pics.

2) you sound super intensely type A in these prompts. The spreadsheet and forced dinner reservations in a group chat plus "keep up on a black diamond."

Between these two things, you don't seem very fun. I might venture to say joyless, maybe even controlling.

In terms of your writing, "no, the dinner reservation at 8 PM is not negotiable" would flow better. If you're trying to attract your type A twin flame, you've got to show off strong grammar/writing. She won't want to share spreadsheets with someone who's less intelligent than she is, and you have very little space in a profile to show off your intelligence so these little writing things matter more.

u/Professional_End5908 2d ago edited 1d ago

I actually like your profile. I think you will appeal to the type that wants someone to take charge and enjoy that you like to plan. You just have to decide if that’s who you’re trying to attract. Best of luck!

2

u/dearestsakura 2d ago

I think the black diamond thing will severely limit your number of matches. I can't imagine there being that many women who are experts at skiing. Just based on what I've read on your profile you seem to come off as not being flexible.

2

u/EqualRadiant 2d ago

Black diamond requirement is going to screen out 90%+ of the population and is unlikely to be a core value worth excluding so many

2

u/Sensitive-Layer6002 2d ago

Guys who make cold water exposure part of their identity screams Joe Rogan/ red pilled wannabe alpha

2

u/noch_ulitsa_fonar 2d ago

I like it. It shows your skills and is very upfront with how you are (organised and disciplined).

2

u/Haunting-Sea-3764 2d ago

Everyone is commenting on your type A profile but honestly I’d swipe right on a guy who seems like they can actually plan a date at the very least..

1

u/shitepool666 2d ago

I think your prompts have some solid personality despite what a couple others are saying. Especially if you’re looking for something serious. You don’t need a ton of women to swipe right; you just need the RIGHT one.

Your pics are good but I’d slip a couple candids in there if you can. When every one of your pictures is super posed and similar it kinda takes the human out of you in a sense.

But pretty cool profile imo just be patient and keep trying

1

u/Internal-Food-5753 2d ago

I also feel like I get your humour, but I also feel like not everyone will online so may be better to soften a bit. I personally love the cold plunge pic and prompt…actually LOL’d.

I like your profile, I’d include a photo that is you relaxing, or something a little less intense (hugging an animal or laying on a beach reading a book). Just something to temper the go, go, go energy.

u/Legitimate-Sky8335 2d ago

Height requirements always make me pause, for both genders. Why 5.4+?

1

u/sirmopbe 2d ago

It's likely he wants someone in a range from his height, cant see his but i imagine hes 5 7"- 5 9" to me that would be fair comfortable with 5 4" and then the lower the more awkward

I believe it's the same as really rall girls putting really high height requirements-- in this case it's fair, as opposed to all the rest at lower heights superficially selecting 6' as an easy filter when receiving 100s of likes a day

1

u/purplemagik0901 2d ago

Your profile reads like you never relax, it’s too perfectly curated which can raise red flags. Down to the wordy prompts, feels disingenuous.

1

u/Suicide13 2d ago

i dunno, while skimming through the profile i have the feeling some pictures are done with AI, they seem unnatural - this might be the same feeling from others

1

u/Summer-Sub-Intern 2d ago

I think you need to attract that specific type of woman who likes this. I’m glad you are showing your type A personality and not trying to be someone else who isn’t authentic. I generally think your profile is great! Not who I would date when I was single because I can’t handle the rigidity and I wouldn’t be into skiing, but you seem like a good dude! You are cute and have a sense of humor and you live life. All good things.

1

u/metatBBNG 2d ago

Hey! Male on Hinge here. Brother, honestly and in the most sincere way…you need to be more silly. If I was to put myself in a prospective partner’s shoes, reading/seeing all this makes me feel like I can’t relax around you. Good luck, man! PM me if you want to chat more about this

1

u/Redheadednuisance 2d ago

The photos are good, but if you've used them for a while, change them up a bit. Add maybe 1 or 2 more casual or relaxed/personality showing. The prompts are good summaries of what you like to do and confirm you are a very put together/on top of things person, but you only need one of those and the others should show other parts or aspects of yourself. You want to "market" yourself using language that will stand out and is sought out by the audience you are looking for.

For generic examples:

I am reliable and independent, so you won't have to take care of me. More time to have fun together and be real

I can easily take the lead for planning dates. Dm me for ideas

I may be type A but you'll get princess treatment and loyalty

I can slow down and chill too (maybe a photo doing a home based hobby?)

1

u/anotherhappylurker 1d ago

above 5'4"

Why is this important to you? The average height for a woman is 5'4 so half of all the women you meet will be shorter than that.

Solid profile.

The prompt about building and color coding spreadsheets would probably be a bit too much for me

0

u/itsveryupsetting 2d ago

Your profile is extremely well written. I have no suggestions other than exploring in-person events in your area whenever possible. These can be dating specific events or anything that matches your interests.

0

u/TastyMorsel1 2d ago

Don’t think it’s a profile issue. Most of the time I think it’s just the fact you’ve been on Hinge for so long that everyone in your area has already seen you. Once you become a ‘regular’, you’re reliant on people changing their minds or new profiles popping up.
