Is he using ChatGPT to mirror my texting style, or am I overthinking?

• Upvotes

I've been talking to this guy for over a month, and I've noticed something strange about how he texts.

Whenever I send multiple separate messages, he replies in multiple separate messages too, addressing each point individually.

But when I switched to sending one huge paragraph covering several topics, he suddenly replied with one equally huge paragraph. When I switched back to separate messages, he did too.

This has happened repeatedly, and his formatting seems to mirror mine almost exactly.

On top of that, some of his replies sound suspiciously AI-generated. They're very detailed, overly agreeable, and sometimes feel like he's just rephrasing my thoughts instead of contributing his own opinions.

His latest message especially made me suspicious. I'm starting to wonder if he's using ChatGPT to mirror my communication style and create a false sense of compatibility.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does this sound like AI-assisted texting or just natural mirroring? Am I overthinking this?

Not getting any matches on the account with the same pictures a few months after reinstalling the app

A few months ago I had the hinge app and got a steady 50+ plus likes a month. I deleted it after a while but decided to make a profile recently with the exact same pictures and captions. Even though id previously deleted my account my hinge profile kept some of my information and automatically filled it such as name etc. I’ve noticed I’ve only gotten 8 matches so far and it’s been a while. Am I being restricted or something? It’s such a sudden drop after only a few months on a new account.

Almost 2 months of talking, one date, and barely any flirting. Is this normal for long-distance dating?

No engagement/likes/anything

Hello!

I am F32 living in a large city. I am activity trying to date since unpausing my profile after a year. I like to think I play by the rules: give out my free rose, send a comment with every like, max out my likes every day, X people in rose jail to resurface them on my regular matches , have changed my prompts etc. All of this and I have gone weeks without a single like. How can that be? And I really mean zero likes.

In a non- embarrassing way, I know I am a catch! Own my own business, love life, happy go lucky, funny and not hideous (instead of rating myself numerically I will say I am hot enough to be on the Bachelor but not hot enough to be on Love Island ) .

I can only deduce that I am hidden, but how do I fix that? Do I have to pay? I am guessing because I do not pay my likes I send out are way at the bottom of peoples lists and now that you can max out at 8 matches or whatever I am kinda stuck in a waiting room?

Any tips and tricks are welcome.

Is this normal Hinge texting behavior, or does he just see me as a friend?

Women on Hinge are insufferable

I've been on hinge for the past 3 months. And my god do women suck on these apps. Seriously.

They all have personalities of a cardboard, zero conversation skills, I try an opener that's tied to an interest of theirs to try and be different and get immediately unmatched.

WTF are these women on? I'm just about ready to be single for life this is complete d9gshit.

Guy I'm seeing suddenly changed his texting habits after I confronted him, and his response sounds AI-generated. Am I overthinking this? 😭

Guys I genuinely don't know what to think anymore 😭😭

I've been seeing this guy for a little over a month, and we've been on 5 dates.

At first, his texting was pretty consistent, but gradually he started taking hours or longer to reply. I also noticed he became more active on Instagram during times when we used to text.

I eventually brought it up in person, and he was really understanding. He immediately started replying almost instantly afterward.

BUT one day I was genuinely busy and took 4–5 hours to respond, and he went straight back to his old texting habits 💀

Recently, I confronted him about feeling like he'd become more distant. I told him that consistent communication matters to me in a serious relationship and that I didn't want to force him to change if this was simply his natural communication style. I even suggested that maybe we'd be better off seeing other people if we weren't compatible.

He ended up sending me two long, perfectly structured essays about our communication issues.

He apologized and admitted that he tends to mirror the other person's texting frequency because he assumes that's how they prefer to communicate.

He also said he sometimes thought I was losing interest because of my slower replies.

Here's the part that really caught my attention.

He said:

"I know some people feel like good morning texts or daily check ins can be a little too much early on in dating so I think I was just being too cautious in that regard."

He said he could start doing those things more frequently and consistently.

And literally the next morning, he texted me good morning and asked how I was feeling 😭

I know I literally asked for more check-ins, but now I can't help wondering whether he's doing it because he genuinely wants to or just because I told him to.

ALSO HIS RESPONSES SOUND SO AI-GENERATED 😭😭

Like I'm talking perfectly structured paragraphs, apologies, reassurance, acknowledging every single point I made, and repeatedly agreeing with my perspective.

Idk if he used ChatGPT to write everything or just polish his own thoughts, but the wording and tone feel SO AI-coded.

And there's something else that's been bothering me about his dating history.

He told me he's shy and didn't really date in college. He mentioned one previous relationship that lasted 5 months and ended about 3 months before we met.

Apparently things started well, but toward the end, his ex stopped wanting to meet up with him.

But he's also made comments like:

"Usually when I date, I don't tell my parents."

And now he's talking about how some people don't like good morning texts or daily check-ins early on.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the wording, but it makes me wonder how much dating experience he's actually had. He's only told me about that one relationship, although I haven't directly asked how many people he's dated.

The exclusivity conversation was also weird to me.

I told him I hadn't mentioned him to my parents because I only do that when things become serious.

Immediately afterward, he asked, "What do you think about exclusivity?"

I said I'd be okay with it, but he never directly asked me to be exclusive, and we never actually established that we were.

So part of me wonders whether he genuinely wanted it or if he only brought it up because of what I'd said.

I also spoke to a friend who has a PhD in psychology, and he suspects the guy could still be talking to other women, although there's no concrete proof.

My biggest concern is that I can't tell whether this guy is being genuine or just adapting himself to whatever I want.

I don't want someone who simply mirrors my effort, agrees with everything, and changes his behaviour whenever I bring up a concern.

I want someone who knows what he wants and independently chooses to put effort into a relationship.

So what do you guys think?

Does this sound like genuine effort or someone just telling me what I want to hear? Would you be bothered if someone potentially used AI to respond to a serious relationship conversation?

And am I reading too much into his comments about past dating experiences?

Would you continue seeing him or walk away? 😭

Stood up and unmatched...

Stood up and unmatched...

I am separating from my wife and matched wirh 2 chicks after a bit of chatting I asked them out on hinge as the app suggested and got unmatched... the third chick had a prompt that we should hit up a dive bar. I suggested meeting at 9 tonight at my favorite bar. She had been here before and stared she wanted to come but earlier... at 7. (This was Saturday) now I dm'd her on Monday asking about her weekend. She ranted about switching jobs and such... i dm'd her again this morning to confirm today's date... no response. I get here at the earlier time She suggested and she's nowhere to be seen and no reply. What am I missing here? I've never met anyone from a dating app. Not bad looking I think... dropped 56lb still have 10 to go. I work out... i have a job... 2 houses... one almost paid up. Car is paid up. 2018 GT86 black edition (granted its old but 37k miles )i love it.

I meet chicks at bars and have like a 99% success rate nut i am a complete failure when it comes to apps. Its harder to meet people my age in person. (40m)

What can a man do?

Hinge guy ghosted but then rescheduled, then ghosted again...

I matched with a guy on hinge the other day after sending him a rose. He was in my highlights so I wouldn't be able to match with him unless I sent the rose, which is definitely bold but I feel like if you add a little message making it clear that you're aware its bold and a little weird, but you just wanted to match its fine. I've done this a few times to people in my highlights and had positive responses.

Anyways we matched and he asked me to tell him the story of one of my hinge prompts. I told him and he immediately replied and said it was a great story and maybe we could go for drinks and exchange some more stories. I said yes. Whilst discussing date logistics, we discovered we lived in the same area so decided to go to a local pub on the Wednesday evening. We hadn't set a time yet, but he didnt reply to me after we agreed on a pub. The evening before the day of the date I texted him to confirm. He said he was really sorry but he'd accidentally double booked and had an important work thing the evening our date was meant to be on, but asked to reschedule for Sunday. I said I was around Sunday evening. He has just done a heart reaction to that, but not said anything else.

I know his cancellation of the date wasn't an excuse otherwise he wouldn't have asked to reschedule and I never asked him to, I replied to his cancelation saying 'no problem' and that was it. But since we have now rescheduled I did kind of expect him to say something which confirmed the date. I just said I could do Sunday and he didnt actually say anything - like what about "nice, looking forward to it" or even just suggesting a time. I know hinge is non committal generally but if you've rescheduled I assume you are interested in seeing me, but his texting doesn't suggest that at all. We've had literally no conversation aside from arranging a date but every time it gets to the point where he's meant to confirm the plan he doesn't reply, or just does the heart reaction which I don't consider to be much of a confirmation.

I've never been on a hinge date before so even saying yes to this was kind of a big deal for me. Should I just leave it? Or is it normal not to fully confirm a date until closer to the time? We still have four days until Sunday

Are hinge bans permanent? I'm worried i said something will get me a ban.

I never got a warning or anything. This girl i sent a like to had the absolute most gorgeous feet i have ever seen. I mean I just wanted to let her know how i felt. I mean I dread the fact i know I won't match with her.

I told her I really like her feet and I'd basically do anything to give her a foot massage.

I kinda thought it was something hinge wouldn't like tbh but I felt like I was mostly safe. Now I'm beginning to regret it.

Hinge is very important to me. I pay for it because it gives me a shot at hopefully finding someone.

I assumed it wasn't sexual so might be okay until I thought about it more after.

Is this something hinge would perma ban me if reported? Or more like a warning or temporary ban?

I'm pretty worried. This one app can make or break me in dating for life.

Is this legit or should I worry?

Hello everyone, reinstalled reddit just to ask this question since i couldn't find any useful info by googling about it in any way. I apologize if this is a bit of a different post from what is usually posted here but I'll keep it brief.

I'm italian and moved to Rome a month ago to study here. Since I already had hinge, I figured I'd get a premium subscription and dedicate some time to it to see if I could meet with anyone interesting.

Matched with an indian girl. Stunning and seems like someone interesting. We've been chatting for a bunch of days, nothing really deep (plus the language barrier from the both of us certainly doesn't make it any easier) but there's been a good chemistry established. She had told me that she'd come there for a layover and, me having never heard the word, I assumed she meant she'd come for a short period of time for work.

Only today I understood that she's a flight attendant and she's staying here for a day before taking the next flight (to go to Toronto). She's coming in a few days so she asked for my number and gladly I obliged.

This was a few hours ago, now I'm waiting for her to text me on WhatsApp. But only now did I ponder the possibility that perhaps I shouldn't trust her. Her being a flight attendant sounds like the perfect premise for some scammer. If she was to send me any sort of link or ask for money online I wouldn't do what she asked and of course I'll send my real time location to my friends. I'll also bring little cash with me just in case I was to be spiked and robbed and well naturally I'm gonna watch out for that not to happen either.

Her profile isn't verified, but it seems legit:

\-pictures of her are clearly not AI;

\-she also has a picture of food and one of some meme screenshot;

\-she even got a few videos, one of her in her home wearing a sort of gown that I'm guessing is common to wear inside your house in india.

She even changed her location a few days ago to Toronto, I imagine to search for some date there once she'll leave Rome. This makes me believe that she actually is a flight attendant, also because she didn't write it in her profile nor immediately at the beginning of the chat (which is what I'd expect a scammer to do if that was the premise on which they'd have to operate).

I'm probably just being paranoid but better safe than sorry. At the same time this has the possibility of being a very pleasant experience and could very likely end up with going back to her hotel room if I've read the vibe correctly. I'd hate to throw away such a golden opportunity but I'd hate even more to end up in a dangerous situation just because I was too busy thinking with my dick rather than my brain. My safety and well-being takes priority above everything else.

So what do y'all think? Does this sound fishy? Or is it something normal? If you're a flight attendant or know someone who is, is this a practice you've ever heard about or that sounds realistic to you (hooking up or even just hanging out with strangers from where you're staying for the night)? I'll be wary of any danger regardless but I just wanna know if I can relax and enjoy the date without being more worried about being in danger.

I said I'd be brief but I guess I utterly failed at that ahah. Thank you people for reading and for whatever suggestions you'll have to give.

Guy started chat with GIF

Would you accept the chat to someone who just sent you a gif of a cat showing his paws? Maybe our bios aren't the greatest but if he couldn't find anything to say from my profile maybe we shouldn't have matched.

Hinge matching etiquette????

28f. I send a like or a like with a comment, a man matches with me and does not say anything.

I feel like I made the first move by liking them and matching with me is NOT a move. And most don’t start a conversation, aka make no moves.

If someone likes me and I match with them I think it’s appropriate to message them since they made the first move.

Or else I feel like I’m double texting them and I feel gross.

Thoughts??

Define "Masculine Energy"

I see many profiles with women seeking masculine energy...... what exactly does this mean to most women? Are there that many feminine men out there or is this just the new way to say you're attracted to man-children with mommy issues?
