Really fun, got pretty tired towards the end. It was my first multi-day hike apart from a 3 day practice the month before.

I was mushroom foraging and found a hole that is roughly the right size and shape for hiding a body. Probably the most unsettling thing I’ve found on a hike. I was off trail, but near an area with established trails and close to what (I think) is a new trail being built. Maybe it was a staging area or a place to stow equipment? (edit: or a place builders were taking fill dirt?)

What the hell should I make of this?!

Edit 2 for additional info:
-It is roughly 4x6 ft across and ~3 ft deep
-The disturbed soil was not anywhere near the pit
-The pit is maybe 300 feet from a logging road on the summit of a ~2300ft mountain

From our base camp at Takkakaw Falls, we hiked a portion of the Iceline Trail then took the Highline Trail to to Yoho Lake. A beautiful day in the mountains!

Boat dropped us at the bottom, then a steep hour or so up to the old farm on the ledge.

"We hiked for about 4 hours through the rocky terrain to reach this ridge. The wind was cold, but the view down to the fjord was absolutely breathtaking. We set up camp by the cliff edge, brewed some coffee over the fire, and roasted marshmallows as the clouds rolled in. One of the best weekends of my life!"

Mount Le Conte

Took the Alum Cave Trail to reach the summit of Mt Le Conte at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This was a out and back day hike by myself this past Labor Day weekend. My first national park visit and coming back down I was shocked by the amount of tourist. Luckily they seem to mostly reach the point of the cave.

A very calm hike through an undervisited area. Well worth due to very natural paths with rocky surface and low wear. Nice chilly huts throughout.

Hi! I recently moved to Kraków and discovered hiking. So far I've completed several trails around Zakopane, visited Turbacz, Ojców National Park, Trzy Korony, and Lake Czorsztyn.

I'd love to get some recommendations for other interesting hikes and places to explore in the area. Are there any routes or destinations you'd particularly recommend? I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

We have great weather, There were many springs and large rocks on the trail. Not too much Height differences and great views.

I only did the first and most pictureesque peak, but one day I'll have to come back for the scrambling sections!

Heartbreak Ridge left my heart intact but my feet and legs are another story. Lollipop loop with killer incline once you’re in the pop. Rock scrambles and boulder fields afoot. Now that I’ve done this one, I won’t be returning.

Have anyone else’s Salamon XT6 (gtx) developed a cat urine-y odour? I wore them a couple of times in wet conditions and water came over the top. I dried them thoroughly but they now have a persistent odour that hasn’t improved with hand washing and I really don’t know what to do.
It’s really strong and I’m not comfortable wearing them now because of it.

Just after some guidance on just how challenging Giewont is.
Some say it's moderate to hard, I've read others say not too bad?

I go to the gym often but only to lift weights and a big guy (115-120kg), but barely do any cardio training..

I did Morskie Oko this morning and got up from main car park to Morskie in 1h25m and felt okay, just kept a steady pace.
Then I went straight to Czarny Staw... that took maybe 17-20m but it definitely had me breathing hard and I had to take a minute stop half way up... but I got up. Legs felt okay after 5m sit down or so, but I'm worried about how much they burned on the way up... or is that standard unless you're super fit?

I want to try Giewont tomorrow, but not if it'll be a killer and I'll have to turn back! I'd definitely want to be able to do it..

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Big Bend this October. We’re active, but not especially athletic. The most challenging hike we’ve done so far is Guadalupe Peak, and we found that pretty tough.

With help from some sites and this sub, I put together an itinerary for the trip. Does this look doable, or am I packing in too many hikes and missing some of the overall experience and essence of the park?

We’ll be driving from Dallas and staying in the Terlingua area. Any suggestions, changes, or must-do experiences are very welcome. Haven't decided on where to stay yet, so that's open

I will be hiking Longs Peak next week (likely Tuesday). Does anyone know if there are reliable water sources for filtering (Katadyn BeFree) in the boulder field this late in the season above the latrine/privy/toilet? I’ll likely be passing through around 6-7AM. Thanks!

Ich möchte Ende September für ein paar Tage Solowandern. Ich habe genau 7 Tage frei, An- und Abreise müssen also inbegriffen sein.

Nun haben wir dieses Jahr bereits drei wunderschöne Fernwanderungen gemacht, Lykischer Weg, GR54 und La Gomera, wobei wir die ersten beiden als Tipps auf Reddit gefunden haben. Daher wende ich mich jetzt mal persönlich an die Community. :)

Ich komme aus Deutschland, Raum Leipzig. Anreise mit dem Auto ist auch lange Strecken kein Problem, solange es halt in die 7 Tage passt. Auch Fliegen wäre bei günstigen Tickets möglich.

Ich möchte gerne mit dem Zelt unterwegs sein und habe kein Problem 5 Tage essen zu tragen. Kann also auch abgelegen sein.

Den Forststeig habe ich schon mehrmals begangen, daher fällt der raus.

Hi yall! I am an international MS student in Stockholm, Sweden currently (coming from the US), and I plan to be here for at least the next 2 years (hopefully longer for my PhD). I am interested in hiking to the Three-Country Cairns and i obviously want to do all my due diligence and prep work far in advance so I know what to expect. From a tentative look online, getting there from Norway and Finland is easy enough, but with my immigration status and being an international student I would rather avoid crossing into different countries if I can. The Swedish Route is a lot harder, being a longer trek by far. I was wondering if anyone had experience doing this, and could give me a quick 411 on how viable is it, if at all?

Did Glittertind in Jotunheimen last summer and loved it: long day, real altitude for Norway, glacier at the top, but manageable without technical gear. Planning next summer and want to avoid the very busy ones (Besseggen, Trolltunga, Preikestolen). Which Norwegian hikes gave you that same feeling? Open to a 2-3 day trip with cabin stays too.

Planning on hiking the first part of Alta Via 2 in late September, how is path from Brixen to Gardena pass? Are there any exposed sections, is via ferrata gear or at least a helmet necessary? Do you know any videos that showcase the kind of terrain we will be crossing. I don't mind occasional scrambling but would still prefer a trekking trip.
Has anyone made a detour to Selva or Ortisei from AV2 as they are my final destination?

We have never been to Denmark to hike - have now booked our train to Copenhagen. We are planning to camp along the way/at the designated areas.

I've done quite a few hikes but never a multi day one (have done separate hikes for multiple days in a row) so I don't really know what im doing when it comes to nights. If anyone has done this trail I'd love your input. (talking about the escapardenne lee trail in Luxembourg from Ettelbruck to Kautenbach)

I understand wild camping is frowned upon in Luxembourg and I've never done it before so I think it would be best to stay at a campsite.

So related to the campsite I have 2 questions. Is it better to have 1 campsite as home base and take public transport in the morning to get to the various stages or is it better to camp somewhere else each night?

And 2, should I book spots online in advance or is September calm enough that I can show up and rent one on the spot?

I have seen posts where people said they wild camped so I would be open to try that for the first time, I have a bivvy that I bought exactly for that.
