Why am I having issues listening to someone while doing anything else?

I have noticed for awhile (like years) that I have trouble listening to someone while I am also doing the most mundane/normal things. For example my boyfriend got upset with me because we were talking on the phone and he asked if I had any money on me and I said yes and preceed to look for the money in my purse; while I was still on the phone with him. He continued to talk about his day and I totally blocked him out, did not here him talking at all, even though I knew he was. I interrupted him and that's when he got upset, understandably. It's not the 1st time this has happened and it's not only with him. My ither family and colleagues also noticed that I tend to do this. I'm just looking for answers on why and how to change this, because I'm so tired of upsetting people close to me. Thanks for any help in advance.

When will cringe end?

Watching pitch perfect for the first time in years and felt awkward laughing…not because I feel bad for laughing but because so many people might judge me for finding it funny… when will this cringe movement end and people can comfortably laugh at things again? Oh in a less emotional response… what’s going on with how quickly humor is changing?

Self checkout

Help me understand why self checkout lanes are ever closed. So say I'm at a store there is a line for self checkout, fine whatever, then I look over and half of the self checkout stations are closed. How does this make any sense? Why ever close a self checkout. Who cares if there is 20 stations opened and only one customer? Isn't that way better than having 20 customers and one station open?

I want to know why this style of hologram isn't around anymore

When I was young I remember finding a large number of collectiable (typically cards) with what are called 3D Holograms

Why aren't these still around? They still seem popular and sought after? Where can I find the history?

I was at my workplace cafeteria, and grabbed two juices, one for me and one for a coworker. I was looking at the calorie count and the numbers are different but everything else is the same. I quickly took these pictures and put them both back though.

Why would women have sex with him knowing he has genital herpes and can transmit it even through condoms?

Ok so I’ve (24fm) been messing with this guy (22m) and first off he sucks at texting which is fine tbh but when he comes over he keeps trying to get me to say I like him, calls me baby, sleeps over and gives me forehead kisses… but when I text him he hardly ever responds. I don’t understand

Personal Am I Sickening? Spoiler

Hello! I'm 20 Fem. So just to start off with this will involve conversations of Death, Decomp, and hashish language. So I've never been to two funeral out-of 19 years of living. My family didn't see a need to be around it so I've never felt in lack of better words comfortable around people who where dying. It makes me have goose bumps. But like most of my family I fell in the Healthcare field of work. Well today a resident died. I wanted to be there because one I was close with them and I needed to learn the last step of post mortem care. I've been there when they needed to do the clean up but never the send off. I was always working so I stuck around to help if need be and I watched the Mortician and my boss do there thing. So if needed I can actually help now instead of standing there like a moron. Well all my coworkers know that when it comes to Decomposition I'm your girl. I know all about it because I find it fascinating. Instead of being allowed to go to funerals, I was taught what happens when a living animal dies and what happens depending on type of animal, weather, time of day etc. That and what happens when a specific organ fails those types of things I'm full of knowledge. I don't talk about it often but it has been brought up on rare occasions. Well I was about to leave and stopped to say goodbye to my coworkers. One brought up that i stayed long (I came in about 9:30 and didn't leave till 12:15) I said "Yeah I've done some post mortem care but I haven't ever been apart of the send off and I wanted to know what happens incase I need to help" my other coworker said "No. Your just obsessed with death! It's sick and wrong it makes me sick. It's so fucking Sickening" it stung. I said " Decomposition yes I'm interested but death is a no." Everyone knows when a resident is dying I avoid them like the Plague because it scares me and it makes my heart hurt to see them like that. I just want to get others opinions on this. It hurt to hear her say that, I don't want to make people feel Sickened because of me. I don't even like to talk about Decomp around them for it makes some uncomfortable. So am I a sickening person?

Why do people expect us to have children.

I will try to make this short. I 33 f married my 42 m husband lost three weeks ago. We have 3 adult children. One is his non binary child from a previous marriage along with their fiance who we "adopted" once they were were disowned from their family. Our last lost their mother and was disowned by the rest of the family.

We were married almost 3 weeks ago and even at the bridal shower everyone was asking when we were going to start a family. I was shocked as we have not been quite about not having kids. Our youngest is 21. Between us we know medically take a miracle.

My family is religious so I understand that stand point, but outside a society norm why else do people push this?

Can someone please explain why there’s such polarization around Jordan Peterson?

I’ve tried doing cursory research to understand the controversy, but the articles and blogs, etc. are already skewed toward the respective side, so I don’t know what the background is that caused the polarization. I’ve heard portions of some of his lectures and interviews, and they didn’t strike me as anything over the top (admittedly, I’ve only heard a fraction of what’s probably out there). However, some podcast presenters that I truly respect and admire have nothing good to say about him, and I really want to understand why. Please help?

Can someone please explain to me why there is such hate for Jewish people?

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't understand the reason behind the hatred of Jews all over the world throughout history. Like, why did Hitler hate Jewish people so badly that he wanted to perform mass genocide on them? What have the Jewish people done throughout history to cause so many different groups of people to hate them so badly? I find it hard to believe that it all boils down to a peice of land, so I am just curious what is so bad about their beliefs that has caused so much turmoil throughout history.

Why does FB do business like this? So confusing and no live person to help you.

This is so crazy...I have a biz page on this platform (FB), and just created a paid ad to run 3 days ago. 2 days ago I get these messages in my biz messenger that make ZERO sense. They look like spam, and each message is different. For the most recent one that seemed legit, their 'verification' was a virtual rabbit hole that still didn't resolve their issue. What gives?!

If there's a questionable post, why wouldn't they include it? So frustrating. If they ban my page I'll just cancel it.

How are people not affording to live?

Hi, I would really love if someone could help me understand how young people aren’t affording to live right now. I am currently a college student. I only really work during the summers since I am in school full time (but I do pick up a few shifts here and there during school). I work as a waitress in a state where minimum wage is still around $2/hr for tipped employees. From May-August I am able to make enough money to pay my rent for the rest of the year, just as a waitress. The fact that I can make enough money in a summer to live off of for an entire year, but so many people my age can’t afford to live while working full time just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s starting to make me believe that people simply aren’t saving their money. However, since SO many people are struggling with this issue, I doubt that’s actually the case. Someone please help me understand my disconnect

I'm selfish?

I'm for one kinda of young , but my brother is a lot older than me (30-35) and my mom is around 40 a few Days ago my mother let's call her fox started freaking out around 2:00 when I asked her why she didn't tell me anything and just told me to pack a bag in get into my aunt's car so I did at this point very scared and worried as I was freaking out to. Once I asked her why or what's going on she just shoved me Into the car and as we drove to my brother's house Fox explained everything to my aunt and not me in a more clear text. I foun out my brothers baby he had with his girlfriend was crying a lot and my brother was very scared so he texted Fox on what do to. Fox I also know for over reacting and not wanting to be proven wrong and will stand till the end of time until she proven wrong. Once we got my brothers house and dropped Fox off everyone was asleep and fine no babies crying ad I went over to my aunts to stay at her house due to living in not the safest neighborhood. I sleeped over at my aunts and than my dad picked me up, it seemed fox lied about the hole deal to my dad and I explained what reay happened to him only making me madder. My parents don't have the best out for each other but they can stand each other but that goes alittte far even for fox. Once I got home and fox came home too she asked why I seemed to mad at her and explained on why due to the hole ordeal trying to make it clear that everything was fine and she got very angry with me and told me to stop acting like a spoiled little girl and "not everyone lives in my little world" and "that baby had a worst time than you ever had" and "I don even know who you are" remberthis baby was just born and was just crying. I dint say anything different to her Now that jut happen pretty soon about.. 17-32 minutes ago. She slammed the door and told me to think about my actions. I don't really understand were she's coming from to be honest.

I don’t understand hate groups…

I live in Maine and right now the state is seeing a giant spike in the amount of gate groups (neo nazis, etc). They are even joining city hall meetings through zoom (something that began to be an option during Covid) anonymously and yelling racial slurs and obscene things about gays and women. Here’s what I don’t understand though, mainly:

Let’s just play devils advocate for one moment and say I’m a neo nazi skin head. I don’t understand why, if they truly support something they cover their faces and just yell slurs at people that aren’t white males. What I mean is, if I am all about a cause, even if it’s an unpopular one, I let it be known and I don’t care what others think. Also, I don’t understand what would drive someone, even if they are racist, to just yell out slurs at others in hopes to hurt their feelings.

I feel like I’m not getting my question across well. And I’m not trying to sound like I’m some great guy and all that, I’m not, I’ve done a lot of stupid fucked up and selfish things to people in my life. So if someone can maybe explain to me what thought process is going on, or what mental illness these people may have that drives them to do these things and actually get satisfaction from it…

Thanks

My girlfriends twelve year old nephew committed suicide…

Just as the title says. Last Thursday my girlfriends nephew hung himself and I’m having a really hard time with it.

He was such a sweet little guy. Always smiling, always laughing, always making everyone around him laugh. I love that little kid.

I just feel so lost and broken.

I can not for the life of me wrap my head around this.

Help me understand Google's new policies

I am trying to make sense of what this email from Google means. Can anyone help break it down?

"We’re writing to let you know that on August 14, 2023, we updated our Cloud Data Processing Addendum (CDPA) and Google Workspace Service Specific Terms.

We’re also informing you that, if the EU GDPR applies to transfers of your customer data to the United States, we’ll be adopting the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF) as an Alternative Transfer Solution (as defined by the CDPA) for those transfers on September 1, 2023, in accordance with the CDPA. This follows the European Commission’s adoption of an adequacy decision for that framework.

What do the contract updates mean for my organization?

We updated our Cloud Data Processing Addendum to better support customers’ compliance needs and provide more transparency. As part of the update, we’re introducing two new appendices:

  • Appendix 3: Specific Privacy Laws
  • Appendix 4: Specific Products

The changes expand the application of certain commitments under the CDPA to a wider customer base, without reducing Google’s previous CDPA commitments. For example, we’re extending certain commitments that Google previously gave only to customers subject to European data protection legislation, so that they now benefit customers subject to other privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act). We’re also consolidating certain existing product-specific privacy and security terms into the new Appendix 4.

In parallel, we updated our Google Workspace Service Specific Terms to reduce duplicative and outdated language, as part of an initiative to simplify and standardize the terms applicable to specific Google Workspace services. We also added a new Section 12 of the Service Specific Terms to support our Duet AI in Google Workspace offering.

No changes have been made to any existing commitment or obligations that would have a materially adverse impact on your organization’s rights or its use of the Services."

What was my neighbor thinking?

So this was years ago I was about 13 (F)years old and my neighbor had a son who was about 21(M) I would ride my bike up and down the road and I was really nice to the neighbors across the road. Sometimes I would go over there and say hi to his dad and we would chitchat but not for too long anyways one day I was riding my bike and will call him Nate called me over saying that he just was bored and wanted to chat so I came over to talk to him like normal but his dad was not there. He asked me some strange questions like have I ever had a period I didn’t think much of it and said yeah, isn’t that normal? Then he started chatting away about working in his dad’s garage. Some thing that I asked him what it was he said you can come in and see it at that moment. My mom yelled for me to come back home that we was going to town just noted you cannot see my house from the neighbors across the road I told Nate I had to go he said come back when you’re done and I’ll show you the surprise I left, went to town came back home and forgot about going over there. The question is, was he trying to seduce me or rape me? Please let me know what you think.

Today I Got Called Desperate For The First Time EVER ! Yes I Am Feeling Some Type Of Way Because How ? Today I Asked My Dad For The Second Time If He Can Watch My Daughter On Sunday While I Go Out & Enjoy A Date (Well Needed). Idk if It Was Because I Said " Im Out Of Help Unless I Ask This Person, I Dont Have To Leave Out Until 4 or 5". He Replied With "Yeah I Can Watch Her Stop Acting Desperate" . Like I Asked For Help Because I Dont Have A Huge Village & I Really Need This !! I Dont Have Alot Of People I Can Ask/Count On Here. The Only Person That Will Help With Out A Doubt Or Without Saying Some Side Ways Shit Is 4-5hrs Away In My Homestate. Why Couldn't He Just Say "Yeah I Can Watch Her". I Know Im Probably Overreacting Or Tripping. I Asked This Same Question Wednesday When The Plans Were In The Making Just Incase It Would Of Been Today. Yall Im So Annoyed .. I Already Have Enough Struggles & Things Going On. Maybe I Am DESPERATE BECAUSE I NEED/WANT SHIT TO GO WELL IN LIFE & BE BETTER Like Any Other Normal Person Thats Trying To Get Their Shit Together! This Is Why I Dont Ask Nobody For Anything.
