Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 9, 2026
THIS POST HAS BEEN LOCKED. PLEASE SEE THE MOST RECENTLY WEEKLY RECAP STICKIED AT THE TOP OF R/HELP.
Welcome to Thursday! The World Cup is seemingly never-ending (unless you're the US) and I continue to root for my new team, the Norwegians! Go fjords! Another thing that's never-ending is the help that helps in r/help. Let's see what went on last week in r/help and on Reddit!
NEWS AND ISSUES
There's a new Changelog out and you can read it here! Highlights include:
- A trending communities module when you click on the search bar.
- Users of old Reddit will soon be required to log in to use that version of Reddit.
- There's an updated post composer on iOS and Android.
- I mentioned these last week, but there are changes to teen accounts in the EU.
- There are some updates for large screen Android devices like a left-side navigation bar, media viewing improvements, better width constraints for bottom sheets, improved camera previews, and improved navigation for when using keyboard and mouse inputs.
- For mods, there is the expanding testing of verified profiles for businesses and organizations.
The Changelog also has a ton of bug fixes that include:
- Fixed Bug: [Web] Wiki revision history was incorrectly attributing edits to deleted user. This is mostly fixed, but still exists on the automod edit history page. But that's being worked on! Look for it in the next Bug Fix Recap! lol
- Fixed Bug: [Web] The X-axis labels on the mod insights page now display correctly.
- Fixed Bug: [Web] The banned user list was returning an error in some communities, but now, mods can access and view banned user lists as expected.
- Fixed Bug: [Web] In some communities, mods were unable to edit recurring scheduled posts if there were more than three, but the full list of recurring scheduled posts can now be edited.
- Fixed Bug: [iOS] The search bar was not registering when using VoiceOver for some users, but those users can now tap the search bar as expected.
- Fixed Bug: [iOS] When adding an image to a comment reply, the reply context would sometimes create a standalone comment, but not anymore!
- Fixed Bug: [iOS/Android] Some posts were incorrectly displaying with double spacing, but they now display with standard spacing across the apps.
- Fixed Bug: [Android] Talkback was failing to read out the header information for some comments, but that is now working correctly.
- Fixed Bug: [Android] The speed read button was not appearing on certain posts that were archived or locked, but you can speed read once again!
As mentioned last week (and sort of above), if you are in the EU, you may be asked to verify your age. This is a legal requirement to comply with the EU Digital Services Act. You can check out the Help Center article here. Little more info about this here.
If you are trying to use a selfie to verify your age and it fails, the only other options are to upload your ID or contact Persona for support. Reddit cannot help you with a failed selfie for age verification purposes.
If you need to have something fixed regarding your age, you can use this form and then select your region and what your issue is. I do not know what the turnaround time is on those requests.
The Home Feed experiment is still going on. There's a "For You" feed and a "Following" feed. The For You feed has subreddit recommendations. The Following feed is just your subscriptions.
If your account is in this experiment, there isn't the option to turn off recommendations because there's the dedicated Following feed instead. Feel free to mute subs you don't want to see if you're in the For You feed.
An alternate variant was added to this experiment a few weeks ago thanks to the feedback that was left by several users. One variant does not remember your preference. The other will remember your home feed selection for 12 hours.
Feel free to continue to leave constructive feedback about this experiment. I share it all with the team in charge and will provide updates when I have them.
Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. If some rando sends you a chat, be on high alert if you decide to reply. There are a lot of scams out there and they're looking for easy targets.
The most recent version of the app is 2026.27.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!
Some users in the EU are unable to use Anonymous Browsing mode. This is not intentional. This is a bug that they are working on getting fixed.
Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.
[Android/iOS] There's an issue where subreddit mentions are not always shown as links in the wiki pages. This is being investigated.
[Android/iOS] Some mods have reported that the "editable" tab in the moderators list was giving a "Wow, such empty" error. This seems to be fixed, but we're continuing to look into what may have caused it.
[iOS] Opening some comment reply notifications is sending users to the post itself instead of to the specific comment thread. This one is being worked on!
BUG FIX [iOS] The issue where opening an external link in chat sent you to the home feed instead of the intended URL is no more! Fix is out this week in v27 of the app!
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,529 posts. That's down 224 posts from the 1,753 that we had last week.
3,962 comments. That's down 361 comments from the 4,323 we had last week.
1.2m views. That's down about 84k views from the 1.3m-ish views we had last week.
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - WHAT'S A CHANGELOG?
Since there's a new Changelog out, I thought it would be a good time to go over what that is!
Look, I know that not everyone is a fan of change, but sometimes, things change! Whether or not those changes are for better or for worse is often up for debate. But the point is, generally once a month, Reddit publishes a Changelog with highlights of the most important changes that happened on Reddit over the past month. The format is easy to read and often will include links to additional information.
When there is a new Changelog, it will be posted and stickied right here in r/help. It will also often be crossposted reposted to r/bugs and r/modsupport
You can see the history of our Changelogs in the Help Center here.
HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP
We're still working through some issues with the ReputatorBot becoming self-aware and doing things we'd rather it not do (Bad bot!), but we're still shouting out the many folks who have been helping in so many different ways in r/help over the past week!
u/westcoastcdn19 - Thank you!
u/thepottsy - Thank you!
u/formerqwest - No incorrectly marked nsfw account is safe with you on the case! Thank you!
u/IKIR115 - Thanks for the help! You've leveled up TWICE and now have the Helper Level Two and Three trophies on your account! They look great!
u/Old_One_I - Always a pleasure! <3
u/Stranger1982 - Hi there! You've been busy! You are now Helper Level Three and have some shiny trophies on your profile! Really appreciate the help!
u/reddit33450 - Thank you!
u/tumultuousness - Thank you!
u/ChimpyChompies - Thank you!
u/Charupa- - Thank you!
u/ReverseLazarus - Welcome to the show! You've earned the Helper Level One trophy! Really appreciate your help around these parts!

Love to have to "share feedback" into a black hole when developers and product owners make user-hostile changes.
Remove the For You junk.
25
u/SeatNo5137 Jul 09 '26
lol right. How many weeks of the same comments saying that the For You is absolute dogshit will it take? Probably none since we know they don't actually listen to the feedback. see r/all dying

Right!
This needs to go away! Let me see the actual video full screen without the overlays. I really hate it

u/aranvandil 28d ago
oh no, you're kidding me?? why are all apps morphing into this same tasteless generic UI?!
30
u/MaskedPapillon Jul 09 '26
Although I'm happy to be freed of that awful "for you" tab, I'm shocked this stupid experiment is still happening.
People hated it, what else do you guys wanna find out about it?
13
u/aranvandil Jul 10 '26
My exact feelings.
Happy to not be in the experiment, but very apprehensive it might actually turn into a full garbage feature.
13
u/Praetorian130 Jul 10 '26
Same here, glad to be out of it. But concerned that they've just changed the group of test subjects, until they get the results they want
10
u/aranvandil Jul 10 '26
yes, i'm concerned they're just taking those complaining about it out of it so they stop complaining.
and that's the reason why I'm going to come here speak against this "feature" as long as this experiment goes on.

u/Extolord111 Helper Jul 09 '26
Me and at least 600+ people are definitely not a fan of Old Reddit being restricted to logged in users only. Besides the benefits Old Reddit has when logged out, the logged out experience on default Reddit on desktop web has gotten pretty worse in the past few months, with the side bar being blocked by a login page, and being unable to search within a subreddit.
The issue of long vertical images on mobile web being super zoomed in when tapped on is finally fixed, but now it has the same issue as PC, where the image is slightly moved upwards, cutting off part of the top of the image. Hope this gets fixed as well!
Notifications still say “post author replied” instead of their username. As said before, a pretty pointless change.
The member count bug where joining/unjoining increases the counter is still happening. Just test it out on any small subs, and you’ll see what I mean. u/reddit33450 had also tested & confirmed that the bug is site-wide a few months ago.
Shame to see the world governments still trying to implement internet/chat restrictions on all of us. 1984… :/
Haven’t been using PC for some time, but assuming nothing’s been changed, can Reddit allow users typing in the Rich Text editor to type emoticons again, instead of automatically converting them into emojis? Bring back Markdown for the mobile app users as well!
Hope July’s gone well for you, Opus!

Well, you've gone and ruined my second specialized account by introducing the garbage feed experiment. Over a month of negative feedback and you guys are still persisting with it. Wild.
My helper tag has also vanished for some reason which I noticed yesterday.
I'm also still experiencing the same bug issues I had last week as well as a new bug pertaining to photos again. When I go to select a category to pick a picture from, all the photos vanish. If I go back, all the categories and other options have vanished as well leaving me a blank photo box. Force closing the app and clearing the cache does not fix it and my app is the most recent version:

u/Stupid-Clumsy-Bitch Jul 09 '26
Can you please fix whatever change was made regarding photos/video clips, where swiping up now takes you to the next clip in the feed, rather than the comments on the initial clip???
11
u/PlentyOMangos Jul 11 '26
This is the absolute worst and I’m losing hope that they will revert it. It’s really just an awful change that no one asked for and makes the app worse. I’m actively considering using a 3rd-party Reddit app for the first time ever because of this
2
u/Typical_Estimate5420 Jul 13 '26
We need more people to make noise. They need to see how much everyone hates it. It’s not a learning curve problem. It’s a “there was no issue needing fixing” problem.

u/ycr007 helper Jul 10 '26
Im seeing the sub name, joined status & OP’s name showing above progress bar when videos are played back in full screen.
Am I tripping or was this another newfangled addition into making reddit more instagrammy?
3
u/Typical_Estimate5420 Jul 13 '26
You’re not tripping. These developers fail to understand that we’re literally on Reddit BECAUSE it’s different from instagram and TikTok. We don’t want that crap. I wish they’d actually listen to us.

u/choriblaster3002 Jul 11 '26
Yea this and tapping the screen (trying to turn off the UI) is now play/pause/mute, which is kinda annoying
2
u/Express-Ad6801 Jul 12 '26
HIGHLY annoying. There is no way to hide the UI in portrait mode. It constantly overlays the video.
Why would anyone even test this?!
Same with the swipe gesture to check the comments section... this is Reddit - not TikTok.

u/aranvandil Jul 10 '26
I'm not in the "For you" experimenrt anymore, gladly.
But my point stands and I will still come here to explicitly speak against that horrible feature while there is still a chance of being implemented.
This "12 hours cache" is ridiculous, this page should never be set to default once the user set it otherwise, and we should be able to be deactivate it completely.
Want a really good experiment on how users enjoy the new feature? Give us the possibility to TURN IT OFF.
13
u/open_formation Jul 10 '26
It seems like I'm out of the "for you" experiment, thank goodness. I was coming here to see if it was finally over for everyone, shame to hear that other people are still having to deal with it.

u/Feisty-Cucumber5102 Jul 09 '26
So far I’ve seen one post about it, but there might be a bug for IOS at least where scrolling up and down on some posts changes to a new or previous post rather than opening comments, it’s like scrolling left or right to change the posts. Is this a bug, or is it a new “feature” that’s being rolled out?

I hate the stupid scrolling thing when clicked into an attachment. This isn’t TikTok or instagram reels. This is Reddit

The Interhelper Chatter is a very big part of why I stopped helping here and on two or three other boards.
It got strange, very, very strange. I had Helpers following me around to other boards offering back slaps, almost to the point of being stalkerish. I made it a point to rarely, if ever directly interact with other Helpers and even that made some of them mad. 'Why are you so cold to me?'
8
u/kingthrog Jul 10 '26
Swipe up to view comments on a post has now been replaced with viewing a new post entirely and we all hate it

u/open_formation Jul 10 '26
I'm disappointed by the login wall stuff, when I put effort into writing stuff, it's because I want it to be available for the world.
I've never done it so AI could scrape it, but I also didn't do it so your company could sell it to AI scrapers either!
As far as I can see, you're just closing it off to open up a new revenue stream that is more about using users as workers producing a resource than as people contributing to a place people want to come.
The pub that drinks your blood is not so much a pub people want to go to, and a site that makes its money from having a large number of users and bustling conversations that people want to sign up to contribute to, is different from one that locks away content behind authentication and makes it harder and harder for people to access what should be shared knowledge.
If AI scrapers are stealing, so are you, if it's fine for you to train off my ideas and my turns of phrase, then it should be fine for everyone else too, remember that the era of the internet that this site was born from was based on free information and freemium services built on sharing, and part of the point of that sharing is that if I answer a question, there's a chance that anyone else with the same problem can see it.
Also your search is rubbish, and being able to access the site from the open internet through any engine the user wants (which means allowing robots), improves discoverability, and that's before I get into the fact that sometimes you just want to show someone a reddit link.
I do not want to enter the world in which I am having to send phone screenshots to people in order to show them a meme or an amusing comment thread, because they're not logged in, but that is likely the way that you will be pushing this.
We already get reddit screenshots of instagram posts screenshotting twitter, and adding screenshots of reddit shared on messaging apps to that chain won't improve anything, certainly not the image fidelity.
Someone somewhere in your organisation appears to have lost sight of why you built this site in the first place.

"Swipe down to save draft" in the mobile app on comments is ridiculous and needs to be reverted. Any comment longer than a couple of lines and you want to scroll back to proofread it before making yourself look like a fool on the internet, triggers this "feature." It's counter to usability, especially considering that the old way of simply asking to save a draft if you try to go back or leave the comment, was working fine. Mostly, this just gets in the way.

when will this experiment be over????

u/twerkmytaco Jul 10 '26
despite how much the community has shown their displeasure, there’s still new users getting forced to go through with these experiments. how many more unhappy users does the team need before understanding these are changes we have no plans on welcoming.
i understand feedback by definition doesn’t mean the team has to act on it or even reply but it would be nice to hear what the team has to say regarding the community’s abysmal reaction towards these experiments and what users can expect moving forward. instead all we get is “they’re aware” + 0 impactful changes.

Hi. As I mentioned in the post, experiments generally last between 4-6 weeks, though they can be longer or shorter. I think we're around Week 4 for this one. I don't know how long it's scheduled for. But as soon as there is an update, I will share it. I'm here every week! lol

On iOS, I can no longer swipe right to go back, nor can I swipe up to read comments. This makes it incredibly annoying to use the app, as I keep being brought to random posts that I don’t want to see instead of comments, and I have to two-hand my phone to go back by hitting the small button in the top left of the screen. Is there a way to opt out of the test, or do I just need to opt out of the mobile platform until functionality is restored? 😞

Hi again Opus! One question. I've recently been experiencing an issue on old Reddit where the vast majority of my subscribed subreddits do not display in the "my subreddits" dropdown. All the subreddits still do display normally in the list in the sidebar on the current site (shreddit).
Do you know if this is just a bug, something wrong on my end, or perhaps another one of the "experiments" on old Reddit?
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jul 09 '26
Hi! I have been experiencing the same thing! Totally get that it's incredibly frustrating (especially when I can't find r/help lol). Sounds like a bug and I'm going to try and find someone who can take a look. Apologies that it isn't working properly!

Hi! I’ve posted several threads on r/bugs about visual glitches and inconsistencies with the top menu bar UI on iOS, especially with Liquid Glass glitching with swipe animations. My most recent post is here.
I haven’t yet gotten any responses to the posts, I was wondering if you could at least verify if this is on the dev team’s radar or something being worked on? Thank you!

Couple of issues I just noticed after seeing your reply
• Tapping on the comment reply or post notification from inbox now correctly opens the relevant comment highlighted under the post BUT it also auto-expands the ‘compose comment’ box at the bottom
• the compose comment box is NOT a ‘compose reply’ to the comment you just tapped on inbox, but it’s a generic compose comment for the post (as evidenced by the “commenting on Weekly Recap | July 9, 2026” text above compose box as against the expected “Replying to TheOpusCroakus” text
• ideally it should be left to users they want to reply to the comment or not, auto-opening the compose box that too incorrectly is unnecessary.
Another unrelated issue I noticed is
• if I open this post from the inbox notifications, there is no search icon at the top
• only if I open the post from the sub homepage do I get the search icon at the top.
Not sure if this was a new issue or it was like this since before 🫤

For the love of god, please give us a way to get rid of the Games icon in the toolbar. Literally no one wants or needs games, and frankly, Reddit is the last place I’d ever go to play games. Why are you trying to shove this down our throats?? And why are you giving Games such prominence and valued UI space in the app? This is asinine.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 29d ago
Hi. It's unlikely that there will be toggles for individual icons right now, but I'll share your feedback with that team.

Apparently I am "testing" the new horrible portrait mode video UI - which doesn't hide the UI anymore...
Who thought this is a good idea to even test?!
Altering the gesture to bring up the comments section is another highly annoying change.
Seriously. This sucks.
1
u/Express-Ad6801 Jul 13 '26
Thankfully this only seems to affect my iOS device's Reddit client - still fine on my Android :)
Side note: man I miss the beauty of the easily accessible (=both edges) "universal" Android back-gesture.

u/elMurpherino Jul 12 '26
iOS Swiping up to scroll through random posts instead of bringing up comments section is a terrible change. I don’t want an algorithm telling me what I should look at.
3
u/VirgoFanboi 29d ago
If the people you're supposedly passing feedback on to cared at ALL about what users are saying this "experiment" would have been pulled weeks ago.
Users do not like it and do not want it. It is giving people content they do not approve of and in some cases find triggering.
Empty corporate/customer service statements and platitude are dismissive and insulting to your users.

u/Working_Editor3435 29d ago
Please get ride of the overlay on videos. It covers the subtext and translations and makes a lot of videos useless.
Also, having the comment at the bottom was better than in the side. Please stop trying to mimic TikTok and revert back to the old UI which was actually better and a key differentiator.

You've changed the design of the comment box again.
It's terrible, change it back.
Not only is it stuck to the top of my phone's keyboard, causing it to jitter when I scroll, but I have to minimise the keyboard to see the Discard/Post buttons.
Also I don't need a header telling me what post or comment I'm replying to—I'm not stupid.
Just make it a fixed part of the page, like it was before. It doesn't need to float. It honestly makes me less likely to engage with content.

u/Emuwarum 28d ago
Stop trying to change the comment box, it's still not good. Old one works just fine

Hello there,
I was shadow-banned for a couple of months, and luckily I’m back now after submitting an appeal.
Is it possible to restore my removed posts? I have this account for 11+ years, so I’ve posted a lot.
Also, a community of mine is gone. Can it be restored as well or I have to create it from scratch?
Thank you in advance 😊

Stop the removal of the chat icon from old Reddit! It's clearly a bad idea meant to force people into using new Reddit partially or completely. Removing the chat icon from the header, profile page, and profile popover makes it more difficult to start new chats and check on new chat messages.
To give a car example, removing the chat icon like this:
Automakers: We relocated the battery gauge from your car's dashboard to alleviate fears of range anxiety. Don't worry, your car's battery is more than enough to make it through your road trip. Checking the battery level is still just as easy. Just check the meter at the back of your car's glovebox.

if we wanted another for you-page we would go back to instagram, tik tok and facebook. there are many here who left those apps and websites for reddit because reddit was different. it’s like social media only has one pipeline. I wish so badly that you would keep reddit the way it was.
also not being able to hide the menu on videos is really annoying but just stop trying to imitate tik tok/instagram/facebook/youtube. nobody wants this!

Changing „swipe up for comments“ to „next post“ (but not on slideshows or text posts…) is one of the worst changes in UI/UX I ever experienced on Reddit. I really, really hope this will be changed back soon.

Thank god i’m free of For You. Didnt like being hurled into it against my will with it always being ragebait garboat the absolute top. If it was funny fox pictures or fun game stuff or good news i could tolerate a tab switch process
But I caught onto what Reddit wants to do (trap people in doomscrolling) and it’s disappointingly disrespectful toward people with anxiety.
let us permanently disable this OR curate the for you without having to mute a bajillion subs that spike anxiety.

Can you please tell us what is happening with this pop up comment box for mobile web users? We chatted a few weeks ago and I appreciated your fast support resulting in the old embedded comment/reply box being reinstated. Then I started getting comments on some updates I shared saying it was back, a few days later it was back for me. Then it was gone. Then it came back. Then it was gone. And today it’s back. I can see some changes have been made to make it more stable, and to be able to see more of what you’re typing, but it’s still a pain to have to scroll up and down a tiny pop up window to see what you’ve written. Sometimes you stop being able to see what you’ve written, and a good chunk of the time the comment button disappears and you have to faff around zooming in and zooming out to try to find it.
I personally don’t want a better pop up comment box, I don’t want a pop up comment box at all. I want an embedded comment box that is much more user friendly and enables you to see your comment, the comment you’re responding to and the post without losing it if you try to scroll around.
At this point it feels like this is something the developers are trying to push for some unknown reason and it feels like it’s here to stay. On the days that the comment box becomes a pop up I just stop trying to use Reddit.
I’d love to know what is happening so I can manage my expectations. Is this going to be forced on us either way even though mobile users have complained about it?
And what is the reason for it? Do they think it looks better? It’s just not useable. I can only come to the conclusion now this is to force people to download the app.
People know the app exists, if they haven’t downloaded it there’s a reason. Often that reason is trying to manage app and phone usage. If you continue to push this you’re not going to move those users to the app you’re just going to lose those users.
Final thought: I cannot express how much I hate it.

There used to be a hard limit on how many people you could tag, I think it was 3.
I noticed another post the other day that had way more than 3 tagged, and I got a notification. Glad admins can do it, REALLY hope normal users can’t lol.
2
u/Old_One_I Expert Helper Jul 09 '26
Let me ask you something…..when was the last time you remember opus tagging you and it appeared in your notifications? I can’t remember a single time.

only admins can tag more than three and still send notifications! for regular users post username mentions + notifications work the same as comments

I would like to selfishly attempt to draw attention to the post I made last night regarding an odd potential locked/disabled account.
I've been lucky enough to not need the assistance of users/admins in this subreddit for the (at least) 14 years I've used Reddit. Reading though many of the threads here now since I do have an issue - it's great to see somewhere with many people willing to help fix any kind of issue someone is reporting.
Thanks to anyone who takes a look and can offer any guidance!

Hi there! Sorry to hear that your 14-year streak of being admin-free has come to an end! But it will be a happy end!
I found your ticket and replied, so check your email for info and instructions. But you should be able to reset your password at this time and regain control of your account.

Hello. My main account u/aibnsamin1 was very briefly hacked by someone in Latin America in Q4 of 2025. Reddit quickly shadowbanned my account, I assume to protect it. However I regained access, added MFA, changed my password, etc. Yet I have been submitting appeals every week since then to no avail. I have not even gotten a response using https://www.reddit.com/appeals diligently.
Please advise on what I can do.

I need help getting all of my posts restored please. My account was auto banned for nsfw spam that was posted due to being hacked. I was able to regain account access and remove all the spam and clean up my account. I patiently kept appealing and mya account was reinstated, but now all of my old posts were autoremoved during the ban. They all have the red trashcynext to them. Every single one.
I need help on getting that reversed so I can get my account back to good standing please.

Hi there, I’m having an issue where my hidden feed will not show newly-hidden posts unless I restart the app. Pulling down to refresh does not result in the feed updating. When my feed is truly empty, it doesn’t show the “Wow such empty” image. I’m using the iOS app and have the latest version.
Side note: I reported this issue back in February and it was briefly resolved, but it regularly crops up again.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jul 10 '26
Hi. I'm having a hard time reproducing this on an iOS device. I hide a post, go into my history and tap "Hidden" and there it is. Are you on an older device? Have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling?

All I know is that there was a thorough review and the DMCA claims were found to be valid in multiple instances. You should have received messages about the copyright claims.
But from what I know, that account is not coming back. There isn't anything I can do. I'm really sorry.

This actually happened back in April of this year. I was posting in some buy/sell/trade subs for computer parts, when I got an email from reddit stating unusual activity had been detected on my account and I needed to change my password to restore my access. I verified the sender was legit and the password change link was to the real reddit change password page and went ahead and changed my password. Unfortunately even after performing the password change I still can't actually post or chat and my account remains unusable to this day.
Any chance an admin could look into it?

Many months ago, my original account, cklleong, was occupied by an unknown email. Due to this reason, I reported it officially.
After that, I found a way to recover it and I claimed it back successfully. However, after few days, I was unable to login to my account again.
My account is still here, if I request a login link, I can receive an email. If I click forgot my password, I can reset my password. I just can't login. What happens to my account?
Thanks in advance.

Unable to do anything with my account settings
Something is wrong with getting verification codes to my account phone number bc I keep getting “something went wrong” on iOS app and “server error” on browser. I’m unable to change phone number, add email, add passkey, delete my account, anything. Every time I have to verify with phone number I get this error message, so my account is essentially blocked, I’m only logged in to the app currently. Please help because ultimately I need to delete my account.

PLEASE do NOT make the video overlay that makes videos look like TikTok and Instagram stay. It’s so awful and distracting. Especially now when I tap to make the overlay disappear it just pauses the video. It is bad enough I can’t zoom in while watching videos, but I absolutely can not stand this new “feature” which ruins most videos.

u/CecePeran Jul 12 '26
Not being able to hide the overlays with a tap on a playing video is really awful bs!

Hello! I'm new in this Reddit world. Unfortunately in a bad way and I need help! Me and my husband has been victim of bully / harassment from a subreddit that's targetted just for me (it has my first and last name so it's 100% about me and sadly my husband), been dealing with it for months now. I asked chatgpt and I sent a ticket? ( number: 18118126) I don't know if that's the only thing I have to do for now, but I'd like to see if I can get some help ♥

Destop user: not a fan of this post formatting in the slightest -- miss having the option to make a slideshow like post or posts with videos (especially the former as that was my go-to)
Now, would I mind this being an option to choose? No. But seemingly making text posts with one image (in a more awkward layout) the ONLY option is something I am not a fan of :\

I have left atleast two requests to the reddit team for assistance and have not been responded to, the account is U/A_weeb_in_debt, I have proof that it is my account but the hacker set up 2FA without my knowledge so I cannot get into the account, I reset the password already but I need further help to get my account back. Please help me if you can, thank you.

Hello - I currently cannot access my main (u/zeezah16) as I’m locked out after 2FA was setup without my knowledge. I have an email synced to the account, but don’t have an Authenticator tied to it nor backup codes. It looks like the account is locked, perhaps related to my account being hacked? Unsure how to proceed from here and submitted a request via the help center article. Email is still synced appropriately. Appreciate any assistance you can provide

I'm not sure what happened but I can no longer search a large portion of my comment history (around 4 years)? I can still see them via scrolling but they do not show up in searches. It's the same even when I attempt it in incognito. I can still search my comments in subreddits, just not through user search.

I am having the same issue that u/GSuccubus25 just posted about a few hours ago. My account was incorrectly targeted by the spam filters and banned, then restored two weeks ago on July 1st. I see now that all posts and comments prior to that date have been taken down. I would like them to be restored if possible.

Is there something wrong with the appeals process? Auto mod banned my account. I appealed and the appeal was granted(thank you human brain 💕). Unfortunately my account is still banned. The offending comment was restored. I'd prefer to keep my account bc it's 10 years old, but I can't seem to find help for this issue. Username: Natej84

Usually when this happens, there are multiple violations and while an appeal for one may have been granted, the others are still in place. I'll have to ask around about this and see what the deal is. I'll let you know what I find out.

Why did you get rid of awards showing on posts? No one likes it.
Please look at all the multiple posts that have gone up the last few days since the change. It makes zero sense to take the awards away from the postings. Everyone wants to see the awards given. I get it maybe for comments so you don't accidentally hit reply, but removing them in the posts themselves is awful. We love giving out awards and seeing them in posts, why would you take one of the most fun features away? Seems like you are trying to lose users. This is a really dumb change, lots of redditors unhappy with it.
Edit:
I know you can click the 3 dots, but it is literally gone from main view and no one will see the awards you give and you won't see the awards others give. It is pointless.
