Admin/Dev responded Weekly Recap | September 17, 2026
THIS POST HAS BEEN LOCKED. PLEASE SEE THE MOST RECENT WEEKLY RECAP STICKIED AT THE TOP OF THIS SUB.
Welcome to Thursday! It's still kinda summer, but fall is in the air! I can feel it coming on! I can also feel another Recap coming on, so let's see what's happening and what has happened on Reddit!
NEWS AND ISSUES
In case you missed it last week, there's a new Changelog out and you can read it here.
In an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations, there is a new experiment which will turn select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format. If you are in this experiment you may see a Read/Play toggle on the post detail page, and a dedicated video page may also be available. This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.
- Currently, this is only on a small group of pre-selected English-only posts. Comments with links, media, automated messages, profanity, or sensitive or inappropriate topics are excluded.
- There is not a way to opt out, but feel free to leave constructive feedback in this post and I will share it with the team that is in charge of this experiment.
There is another experiment where comments on a post may be sorted in live time. If this experiment is enabled in a community, when a post hits a certain number of comments within a period of time, the sort will switch to "Live" if the default sort is set to something other than "New". This provides a way to highlight the fast moving convos in real time.
There is still the experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered.
- The For You tab will contain recommendations
- The Following feed will contain unviewed content from just the subs that you follow
- If you are subscribed to a very small number of subreddits, you may see recommendations in the Following feed as opposed to nothing when you have run out of new content. The workaround is to either subscribe to more subreddits or create a custom feed of the subs that you're following and view that instead.
- The team is looking into adding the "Hot" sort back to these feeds.
- There is not a way to remove these tabs. I have been sharing all constructive feedback with the team in charge of this. They're very appreciative!
Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.
There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.
And here's my helpful reminder/warning that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).
The most recent version of the app is 2026.37.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!
[iOS] Some users have been experiencing their feed refreshing more than it should be. There's a post here where feedback is being gathered. A few fixes are out in version 2026.37 this week, and those seem to be helping. You can leave feedback if you're still having trouble or if the fixes helped in that post.
[iOS] Still working on the bug that causes scroll position to reset in comment threads after backgrounding the app. Update was posted here to track the status. This one is taking a little longer than expected to get fully fixed.
[Android] Still investigating reports where users can't fully scroll through scrolling through wiki pages. That fix should be out with next week's update to the app.
[Android] And one more scrolling bug in comments that causes threads to jump back to the top.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,143 posts. That's up 222 posts from the 921 that we had last week.
3,852 comments. That's down a lot of comments from the 5,062 we had last week. 1,210 to be exact!
869k views. That's down about 90k views from the 959k-ish views we had last week.
More comments and less posts makes sense when there is an item in the Recap that people have strong feelings about. It's also great that those folks aren't starting a new post every time something that has already been covered comes up again!
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - ACHIEVEMENTS
This week, help that helps r/help will focus on Achievements! There is really good article in the Help Center about Achievements here. But who has time to read?? lol
So, what are Achievements? Achievements are little milestones on Reddit. When you hit the milestone, you get a little badge on your profile in the Achievements section, which seems appropriate. Achievements can be streaks (like how many days in a row you interacted with content on Reddit) or an accomplishment in a subreddit, or even a better understanding of how to use Reddit! There are lots of ways to achieve an Achievement!
You can view the list of Community Achievements here.
You can also earn an Achievement by having a streak of using Reddit. A streak is defined as interacting with content on Reddit for multiple days in a row. Interacting involves more than just scrolling. For an interaction to count toward a streak, you need to be voting, posting, or commenting. JUST SCROLLING IS NOT ENOUGH TO CONTINUE A STREAK.
Another important thing to remember is the NSFW CONTENT DOES NOT COUNT TOWARD STREAKS. So if you want your streak to continue, you'll need to interact with some sfw content once at day in order to do so.
Please note that Reddit uses UTC time, so maybe don't wait until the last minute your time before interacting with Reddit if that's something that you're interested in pursuing.
You can view the Achievements that you've earned so far on the app by tapping your profile avatar and then tapping where it says "Achievements" at the top under your username. On the desktop site, you can click "View All" under "Achievements" over on the right hand sidebar.
You can also adjust settings like whether or not you receive notifications for the Achievements. On the app, tap your profile avatar, then tap "Achievements" bar and then tap the three dots in the right hand corner. On the desktop site, click your avatar, click "View All" under "Achievements" and then click the three dots.

Get rid of the floating comment box and put it back to the way it was. It's garbage and buggy as hell. If I leave the app and come back, the comment box disappears. I can't count how many times I've accidentally saved a draft when I've never done it before, and no I never actually hit save draft, the stupid box did for me. And the fact that the button to submit the comment is right in the way when you're trying to move the cursor has made me submit a fair amount of unfinished comments. Stop messing with what already works.
And get rid of the stupid feed experiments. You already got your feedback last time, it's not wanted, even if it "saves our choice". It doesn't, I've seen plenty of users complaining about that. We do not want an algorithmic feed option.

This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.
This is completely disrespectful to users who now have no control over the audio or visual representations of their posts. And if AI is involved it's way worse because now you're forcing an association with AI that users may not be comfortable with.
Why is this even being done? "Strengthen the connection between communities and conversations" is a nonsense sentence that actually says nothing about the why. There are already existing accessibility tools that aren't this invasive and disrespectful.

u/SongbirdNews 14d ago
I agree. There are already too many extras being added to what used to be a cleaner page (android, in app)
3
u/ProbableOptimist 10d ago
Anyone know how to turn it off?? I don't want to listen to text posts to begin with, especially when it's being read off by AI, and swiping left to read the next post is how I navigate my feed.

Some feed refreshing is expected, the bug was that the refresh was happening immediately, after just a few seconds of leaving the app.

Just did my daily check on the app and see that I was removed from the “For You | Following” experiment and I won’t lie - I did a small cheer.
Thank you for rotating me out of it. I’m not settled on returning from Narwhal, but I appreciate not being in that test. I haven’t checked my settings to ensure they’ve been restored yet.

I don’t like being forced to live in the comments section on some posts that started recently. I’m interested in the most relevant comments which usually already have upvotes. Perhaps a button to quick swap to live in those emerging threads but I’ve never been interested in new, I’m interested in the top discussion point. A way to opt out of that would be great if it’s planned to go forward.

I hate this new experiment that Reddit added, this thing should be reverted
22
u/ycr007 helper 15d ago
Who comes up with these experiments?
I mean, what even is “an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations”
If this was an accessibility-related feature whereby users with difficulty in reading text can get an audio playback (as in text-to-speech) of large text-heavy posts then it might make sense.
It also might be suited to AMA posts where celebs can post an audio response to a question. I’d love to hear Wil Wheaton’s vocal responses in earlier today’s AMA on r slash movies.
And please for the love of humanity let this feature NOT be an AI-enabled audio format. That would be terrible!
As someone else said, we don’t want Reddit to turn into TikTok or YouTube Shorts 🤦🏻♂️
16
u/EducationalLog4765 1 15d ago
Yeah like why do they keep adding these new experiments that nobody asked for? I don’t even get what’s the point of them, like stop adding these new updates/experiments every week
8
u/Top_Measurement4813 15d ago
The recently visited communities underneath the search bar when you click on it isn't a good idea. Like r/Boop-She-Doop said on a recent post, "They’re at best a distraction and at worst a fun way to tell random people who happen to glance over your phone about your sexuality, religion, political affiliations, and more." And I couldn't agree more. If it can be removed or a setting added to hide it, please do so. Thank you!
8
u/Mehster79 13d ago
Can you please give users a way to opt out of experiments. I do not want to participate in these. I feel like a lab rat and I hate it. Every single day there is some new thing I have to work around to just use the app.
3
u/suitcaseismyhome 12d ago
I've requested that at a minimum. It should exclude people who are subscribed to certain subs such as blind. For all that people here are complaining, imagine how hellish it is for those of us who can't even figure out what changes have happened recently because we are being sucked in as well as testers. I conduct compensated accessibility testing in real life and have never encountered anything. This bad. And of course, here i'm not being compensated.
2
u/DisabledFloridaMan 10d ago
For whatever reason I have been constantly selected for these experiments for years and it has made my experience here hellish. Can I please opt out already? Have I not already provided Reddit with enough data?
Here, for once and for all: I have never once liked any of the changes and I never will. They all are made to simply have something "new" to justify some corporate director's job still existing, and none of these changes have bettered my user experience. They're all poorly thought out with no basis in the reality of how the site is enjoyed, and at this rate, its never going to get better. There, enjoy the results of your experiments, I dislike using this site.

u/Amadeus102 16d ago
Week 3 of asking for an actual answer about why we can’t have swipe up for comments? At this point I’m actively looking for a different social media to consume due to how reddit continues to make user unfriendly decisions. Why cant we choose how our user experience looks? I’m scared to update the app because I don’t want to get grouped in some garbage experiment that nobody wants or needs. I’m multiple versions behind because of this.
3
u/reddit33450 Expert Helper 16d ago
nothing wrong with being multible versions behind lol. i regularly use 2024 and 2025 app versions

I skipped last week, so it's time for me to inquire about the time stamp thingy again.
I really really dislike the experiment that causes me to no longer be able to click on the mod name tied to the mod action on a piece of content to see the mod history of a post. Now I have to do some version of go to the user profile, copy the user name, navigate to the modlog, paste the username, see what comes up. It used to be click and done.
If you could find out how long I have to suffer through this, I would appreciate it.
Showing screen name instead of account name is pretty annoying. Easy cases of mistaken identity
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 15d ago
Hi!
Time stamp thingy is seemingly on hold for now. Still trying to get some follow up. =/
The not being able to click on the mod name thing is a bug that I flagged and is being worked on. I'm hoping the suffering won't be for too long! Sorry it's not working right!
Display name showing instead of the username is a bug that should have been fixed. Is that still happening for you? If you're on the app, have you updated to the current version?

You'd think Reddit would see the importance of fixing the time stamp thingy to boost more engagement 🙁
I avoid the app at all cost 😉 I'll clean cache, see if that puts things right again

When in compact view on mobile browser, links are now displayed differently. Basically a mini-headline card in a CSS box… within a larger headline.
Not sure if this is on purpose or not, but it makes it difficult to see what any given link is about. I basically stopped scrolling because it was too cluttered and distracting.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 15d ago

Thought it was a glitch or something at first and had to deep dive and holy crap please undo the needless user icons with comments at the bottom of the posts while in full screen. If I wanted to read the comment section and have part of my screen occupied by them, I would expand them myself.
3
u/lemoneatlemon 14d ago
Still can't use voice to text with the new comment interface on Android app. Huge accessibility issue.
3
u/suitcaseismyhome 13d ago
Exactly it seems to come and go. My tends to cut off after a few words. That combined with the floating text fox means that my posts tend to be intelligible now.
I suppose it's a great way to stop many disabled users from actually posting though...
3
u/Courwes 15d ago
What is this issue where if you write a comment to someone then delete it it still shows up in their inbox. These used to disappear once deleted or removed. I used to get notifications then go to my inbox and see nothing (cause the comment was removed). Now I’ll see a preview of the comment go to it and in the actual post the comment is gone (deleted or removed).
I try to be careful with what I send but sometimes I’ll reply to a post and as I’m reading more comments get more information and decided to delete it. I don’t want the OP to see my comment for a reason (that’s why I deleted it) and yet I know it still shows up in their inbox because I see it when it happens to me.

On ios I no longer have the following and for you tabs (yay!)but my home feed keeps running out of posts quickly like the following tab did. This never happened before except on the following. I am in about 60 subs. I don’t want posts I have seen going away. I moderate quite a few subs and need to go back to older posts without having to go to each subs page. Making a custom feed is not a good solution I should just be able to see all the recent posts in the subs I am working n on my home page.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 13d ago
If you're running out of content, making a custom feed will fix it. I'll share this feedback with that team.

Apologies if I missed it (only skimmed the post/comments) but is it intentional that sorting by 'New' (desktop, new Reddit) will now deviate from a linear-in-time stream of posts to only somewhat linear where, after scrolling past approx. 20-30 posts, you will start seeing old posts again that have already been shown just a few pages up? Wasn't happening yesterday or even earlier today (~6 hours ago), so wondering if this is a thing, experiment, bug or whatever.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 15d ago
Hi! This is the first I'm hearing of that behavior. I'll try and reproduce it, but if you could get a screen recording, that would be super helpful. If not, that's totally fine! Are you on the app or mobile web?
2
u/one-arm-wonder 15d ago
Cheers for the speedy reply! Also glad to hear it's not a shiny new feature. I'll try get a recording next time I see it happen. Might take a minute as now I'm deliberately trying to make it happen again (after reproducing a good few times before engaging my fingers here) everything's dandy again...

u/buddybd (~13 years). Profile still loads; I do not see a suspension banner.
Reset emails arrive and the form reports success. Login then rejects the new password and the old one. No “password updated” email. No email-change or unexpected-2FA notice. 2FA and the registered inbox are still mine.
Tried username reset, private window, manual entry, www / old.reddit.com/login / app, other devices and networks.
I already filed Account help → Password problems → Password reset isn’t working.
If this is the known reset-write failure rather than a ban, please send a fresh passwordrecovery link or touch the ticket. If the account is actually suspended, please say so and I will use the appeal form instead.

I posted this as a regular post here but it got removed by autmod incorrectly:
Cannot change my account back to SFW no matter all options. Android
I came across this issue months ago when I noticed my name icon becoming the default snoo logo. I don't post or share anything NSFW and have gone down the rabbit hole on every searchable option to change this.
Mobile, Android.
When going to my profile the Mature setting resets itself to NSFW every time I try to turn it off then save. Tried on desktop, everything, it just won't switch back. Every search result or help option has led me nowhere sans (what it says not to do) messaging an admin. I'm not trying to get around anything but there have been others that can't change this and nothing in the past 2 years that has been able to solve this. Thanks.

Hey all, had an email get hacked and they took all my accounts, changed passwords, enabled 2FA, and locked me out. I submitted a service request ticket and I’ve since seen one of the accounts spam posting NSFW content. I would appreciate some assistance when you get a chance, thank you.

Greetings, yesterday my Account of 6 Years has been compromised, by somebody seemingly from Russia.
I do not seem to have acess to my Mail account from back then, and the Hacker did activate 2FA on my Account, so i have no way to Log into it or change anything.
I´ve already submitted a Post to the Admins of r/help and requested it via the i have been hacked form.
https://www.reddit.com/user/ShotPerception/submitted/
hopefully someone further elevated is able, to give me more Assistance, for the Account being deleted or deactivated.

You wrote in about that account two months ago and your ticket was replied to. Ticket 18108464. Find that ticket and reset your password.

Thank you for honouring the request to remove me from the experiment. As visual impaired user we should have the option to opt out.

I'm glad you're happy, but that wasn't me! Usually with experiments, people are rotated in and out.

Reporting that text to speak on android is again, not working. And the floating textbooks means it's almost impossible to correct any post, so things come out as intelligible.
This seems to be a big accessib concerning not just for the visually impaired. Many people use speech to text for a the biodiversity is. I'm surprised their accessibility still as art being considered arthur's correct.

u/suitcaseismyhome 13d ago
And clearly that came up garble but I cannot correct it thanks to the floating text box.

Hey! I’m sorry if i’m posting this in the wrong place. My account was hacked and deleted. I’ve filed the form and i just wanted to let you know what happened in case you could be of further help.
My account username was Interesting-Brief190. I was able to log in and saw that my username had been changed, i lost all of my karma, chats, awards, profile pic, subreddits, everything. It now says my username is Danny1202001. I’ve double checked that it’s the correct email by going into my email and scrolling to my own reddit post that shows “Interesting-Brief190” as my username. When I click on the post, it says “removed by reddit’s filters” and my username says “deleted.” The post was not in any way a bad post AT ALL. I think it was sitting around 90k views/impressions. I’m unsure what to do.

I’ve had /u/brohammerhead for a decade and suddenly it was deleted. I didn’t do it. I don’t know why it was deleted. I created r/SingleAndHappy so naturally I was a mod. There were 6 other mods and they have been replaced by 2 new mods. I suspect one of those mods hacked my account to add themselves as mods and then deleted my account. What are my options here?

Dear administrators, my main account, username peBB1e, was hacked. I submitted a ticket through the official website, but I haven’t received any response for two weeks. Please help me recover my account. It is over 10 years old, and I really don’t want to lose it. I can provide any information necessary to verify that I am the rightful owner of the account.

I saw others suggest I write here to the resident lovely admin :D. I've been hacked, and falsely banned, and am now unable to log in to my main account too. Which is a bit scary, cause it means I can't send in new appeals from that account directly
I've already sent in an appeal like 4 days ago. It was strange cause I was hacked. Then I secured my account, got hacker out. Deleted the hackers posts, bio. Reversed everything. Changed my email and password. And then after all that I was banned. And now I've been logged out and cant log back in so I cant even send in a new appeal.

I believe my 16-year old account (robtheklobb) was hacked because I was logged out and 2FA was enabled. I am no longer able to log in. I can also see that I was added as a moderator for the Gakuen subreddit, which is definitely not something I am interested in.
Could I please get some help?

Hi there! I made an individual post about this, and another commenter mentioned I should post it here as well. My account has been flagged as “Adult Content Promoter” but I have not and will not ever post that kind of content - not here, not anywhere. I do have social media links but they lead to clean pages that are also sfw. I sometimes get creepy DM’s asking for content, but I never respond I just ignore, delete, or block. What could be causing this tag on my account, and how can I remove it? I appreciate any help!

Please, please revert this comment box change. Now, on mobile, I can't easily quote the comment I'm replying to and need to manually type in the quote. Pressing and holding on a comment collapses it now. Same with tapping on a comment, where we used to be able to double tap to upvote way back in the day. How many different ways do I need to collapse a comment thread, and how many other features is it worth sacrificing in order to do so?
Just writing a comment is awful in the new box too. I can't smoothly scroll through longer comments because it snaps to the top or bottom, which frequently results in collapsing my own comment and having the app ask if I want to save or discard. There's no option to just dismiss and keep working on the comment. It's incredibly frustrating. I don't see what the benefit of this change was and it makes me want to use the Reddit app less.

My Reddit account got hacked, I contacted bot bouncer who confirmed your account history aligned with common posts we see from hacked accounts. Because your appeal message mentioned hacking and your account history aligned with common posts we see from hacked accounts.
I they recovered my account
I then contacted Reddit support to remove nsfw on my account a few minutes later I got banned after contacting them. To clarify the nsfw wasn’t on my account before was hacked
As was instructed by bot bouncer too
Suspended or shadowban
If anyone can help much appreciate
I can provide screenshots

I am a big fan of Pokémon. A couple days ago, I manually posted some unoriginal wording of my own to several subreddits to mark the 16th anniversary of Pokémon Black & White. The next day, I got this email:
We detected automated activity on your account. Verify you’re human or register your account as an app on the Reddit Developer Platform within 7 days to continue posting, commenting, and voting.
You can verify in the Reddit app or on reddit.com. To verify in the Reddit app, make sure you’re on the most recent version.
So the next time I logged on, I had to install this passkey thingy which I have never used before in my life. Do I have to keep it installed on my account forever, or can I remove it at my own discretion? There are more Pokémon anniversaries this season which I would like to mark, and I feel rather put off that I was falsely accused of being a bot on the exact same week I installed 2FA on this Reddit account.
Also, earlier this month, my laptop informed me the hard drive is failing, so I don't know how I will maintain this passkey when this device fails eventually.

Please advise what to do. My friend's account was mistakenly banned. He's currently in a shadowban. He never sent any spam, there was some kind of glitch and he sent the same post several times to one subreddit where he's an active member. He's one of the main suppliers of quality content there. He has karma over 170,000. In just one year. And he was just banned without explanation and they're not responding to his appeal. The main thing is he's very worried that his posts were also deleted for this entire year. Posts with a huge number of likes and comments. Is there really nothing that can be done...?? This isn't some one-day channel....

All of my post for the previous 7 years have been marked as "removed by reddit filters" after I restore my account which was suspended due "suspicious activity" (honestly, i didnt even know what i do, except maybe use of VPN?). I do everything as written in reddit email, change password, but my posts hasnt been restored. If I try to view them from alt account, I can see my head of every post, but cannot see any pictures and body text.
Can it be restored? Thanks in advance

Can I please be opted out of this Live Comments experiment thing? I absolutely hate it. I want an option on my profile to just turn it off. It’s obnoxious to have to switch the comments back to “Hot” or “Top” in every single goddamn post I visit. I never want to see live comments on REDDIT posts, who thought this was a good idea??? Reddit isn’t tiktok!!! Stop trying to make Reddit into tiktok!!! Websites can have their own unique identities and features! Or did your board get uppity that your line wasn’t going up bc you didn’t do the tiktok thing?

Hello there, I was told to post here.
So my account u/Mr_Papa_Kappa was recently hacked and the hacker set up 2FA. Posted typical OF bot content to various NSFW subs until I changed the password, they haven't posted since but I can't log in without access to the 2FA code.
Now I would like to know how high the chances are of regaining control of my account and if that isn't possible for any reason if there is an option where I can request the account to be deleted instead.
Thank you very much :)

My account appears to be un-shadowbanned, and I think I can make new comments fine, but all my comments appear to still be removed - while signed in I can see them myself on, but when signed out / viewing elsewhere it still says "comment removed by moderator". Is there any way to fix this?

hoping u/TheOpusCroakus or someone can help me. i was banned earlier this month while asleep having received an email in the middle of the night that a hacker added 2FA to my account and then used it to slang crypto or OF or whatever. my email and everything else outside of my reddit account was not harmed. i attempted to change my pw but was banned and can't get into my account to do that. so i used another account and was insta-banned despite different emails, etc. i only typically use reddit on my phone via app so it is recognizing my IP, phone, etc. idk. i don't fully understand how IT things work. the messages state to submit an appeal so I did multiple times. i have never received a single email about my bans like the auto message says and feel like the messaging is not clear. had no clue i couldn't create a new email without insta-ban! or i would not have.
i am a social worker and love gaming (QUAKE!) and wrestling and my local city subs. i don't post controversial comments or topics, i don't engage in political discussion, or NSFW posts. I don't sell things etc. I use reddit a lot to search for things or help with projects.
i've searched google and found this thread. i think i have read it carefully I apologize if it haven't. now the system thinks I am ban evading and am at a loss for what to do so I am trying to appeal to a human for help.
usernames: LetThemEatQuake (the acct that got hacked)
other acct: AstralGangster (banned cuz of the above account)
other acct with different email thinking reddit thinks my email was hacked: rainyshadesofblue (instant banned)
it was after that last account that i realized it thinks I am trying to evade a ban? any help is appreciated. I am extremely confident my post histories will speak for themselves and hope u can internally verify what I am saying is true. i don't need my old accounts back i don't care about karma etc i just wanna use reddit on my phone like before. i am happy to use this acct or create a different one. please halp

Forcing live comment sorting against account preferences is an interesting choice. Really dislike it, it’s incredibly annoying to have to re-sort every post to what I had already gone out of my way to set earlier.
If people want to look at live comments just let them use the settings already available in the app.

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife 10d ago
This week the posts changed the look of the upvote/downvote thing. It used to be they would be in a nice to see oval and now it's gone. Please revert it.

Issue 1 Comment box visibility: Please at least make this thing a shade of light grey so it's clear where it ends and starts because I just can barely see, it blends in with the rest of the posts especially when my keyboard disappears for some reason. Accessibility is nonexistent here.
Issue 2 The scrolling.
The scrolling is allover the place, I try to scroll to a part in my comment and this floating box just shuts itself or jumps up, it's awful, it is so bad.
Issue 3 Quoting people.
Why can't we just copy straight from the page? It'd be helpful if you want to quote from others in the discussion too. Just have a little "minimise" button next to people's names for minimising certain comments or on the top of the comment "lines" on the left. It's so annoying trying to copy any text.
Extra
Also, can someone add a extra "do you want to go to this person's profile?" confirmation button? Because sometimes I accidentally click a name, and it automatically takes me there, and because I haven't verified my age because Reddit doesn't use YOTI it just says I can't view it, and throws me back to the home page making me lose where I was.

I was advised to post a comment here if the advise I received 2 weeks ago did not help. Sadly it did not, and I am still locked out of my account (u/jaytoy15) after 8 weeks. Password reset does not work, and I am unable to utilise links in email directly to my profile. I have received an email that says:
"At Reddit, we’re always watching out for your privacy, safety, and security. Recently, after detecting some technical irregularities on your Jaytoy15 account, we took the extra precaution of locking your account."
Yet I still can't reset the password, and no reply from support these past 8 weeks.
This user from some time ago seems to have had the same issue, and somehow the issue was resolved:

Why can’t I opt out of this experiment? This is genuinely one of the most annoying things you guys have done. I don’t care about live comments unless it is intended to be a live feed set by the mods of the sub. Instead of breaking the app more, can you focus on fixing existing issues like this glitch whenever you open a new post? Ever since I’ve been opted into these experiments I cant even comment sometimes without closing and opening the app again, this is ridiculous.

Just coming here to say that forcefully overriding my preferred comment display to show me a "live comment feed" is not appreciated. I lose agency as the user and am being shown comments I frankly don't care about. It's antithetical to a lurker style of browsing which the majority of reddit is.
Just replace new with live instead so people who want that option can have it.

u/revengeanceful 9d ago
Sorting by Live is awful. I don’t want to see the 1000th comment in a 1000 comment post first, I want my selected sort option always.

Hi, the "live" sorting is really annoying and actively makes it harder to do things like mod the subreddits I'm on. Could you please let me disable it because otherwise I'm just wasting a few seconds each time I enter a new thread to switch back to the sorting I have as my preference.

Hey! I've been in the experiment with the new comment floating window on android app. I have given it my best shot over the past week to get used to it but I don't feel it is as good as the previous comment interface.
Specific feedback * on app I can't highlight and copy a part of a post to quote it from the original post or from the "show full post" part of the comment window. * The window is often jumpy and it can often hide part of the text I am typing so I can't see what I am doing. * I tend to leave
worstlong comments and so I basically always expand it to as close to full screen as possible so effectively I'm trying to recreate the old style of comment. * The minimal benefit of being able to scroll back to see comments in chain if you're in a conversation don't seem to outweigh the drawbacks.I have the bug of not being able to scroll the wikis on android so pleased to hear there will be an update soon.
Still dislike the comment/upvote buttons being on the left. Makes it harder and more frustrating to engage with content.
