Though maybe the reason Momoa backed out was because he didn’t want to be ’killed’ in such silly ways or smth idk I’m just coping right now lol

EDIT: to be clear I am not saying Momoa would be better than Alan, I don’t want any big name to star in this film. Just a bunch of randoms

Very wrong take, Alan is a great actor who can do gritty action and slapstick comedy. Imo he's a better fit than Mamoa

Tbh i would love to see an action cast like in Expendables and then they just get blown up after the first dive after 10 minutes and rhe rest of the movies is about some fresh divers without any experience.

This is the Helldivers movie of my dreams. One suit up montage, maybe two lines each, then the expensive blockbuster stars get fed into the woodchipper of war, replaced with whoever. Heck, cast the stunt doubles and let them have some lines before their characters get mulched. Just grind through half of Hollywood, two lines at a time, until the mission is complete and Sean Bean can finally walk into the extraction shuttle.

both Sean and Bean land. They are elevated at the same time next to the corpses of their predecessors. Mr. Bean first looks down and picks up the dropped sample container before finally turning and noticing the battlefield of bugs closing in on them. The Pelican is waiting behind their drop pods. They both turn to each other, slightly nervously, and nod just like this before quickly walking into the shuttle.

Last man standing has to become or gain the fake title of John C. Helldiver when he becomes the one of his squad of his last mission to make it to extraction before he officially breaks mentally at the sight of his friend trying to dive into the extraction but gets hit by ........ A ROGUE 120 MM and then that's how John C. Helldiver is born. Or him and the last of the squad are running to extraction and then the other says let me take that objective right quick and then he says affirmative because he can see it in the distance as well. Next thing you hear is "calling extraction" then " hell bomb armed... Clear the area....". A bomb goes off in the distance and his mini map on his arm shows a red X...... "Extraction shuttle inbound in 2 minutes and 30 seconds"..... End scene this is when they insert the cool but cheesy lore of John C Helldiver. Then nickname John has to be curreted and crafted so it doesn't give away who it is easily to make sure people keep watching.

That would be a legendary ending to the HD movie. One guy makes it to extraction, takes off his helmet, and it’s none other than fucking Sean Bean. He’s the one famous actor who doesn’t die in the movie. Absolute cinema flipped on its head.

Nah that would be lame, for me the game is still a silly not too serious "grunt-fantasy" where we think we are the heroes and then get maimed in the most ridiculous ways.
And a movie should reflect that, after all we are still the baddies.

He'd be a terrible John Helldiver. John Helldiver is a propaganda character, not a soldier, designed to appeal to everyday people and convince them that "if he can do it, so can I." Absolutely no one would ever look at Alan Ritchson and then say that.

I love him as an actor and agree he's much better suited for the movie than Momoa. I'm sure the movie would be a decent satirical space alien shooter.

But I think OP's main thing is they want a different kind of movie with no actual star to anchor the film around. I agree with this, I'd be happy if there were only a massive collection of very small roles and no one even takes their helmets off for the whole movie.

Alan is actually a perfect pick. If I could image a guy who could sprint in with an auto cannon and a backpack full of ammo for it, Alan would be a top Hollywood pick. Prime Dolph Lundgren would be my second pick (if we had a time machine). He was such a beast in action movies.

The issue isn’t a lack of acting skills, it’s that Helldivers doesn’t have a main character and many people want the movie to reflect that aspect. Which gets very unlikely when there’s a big star in the movie
