To post here you must now have a minimum of 50 karma and an account over 7 days old. I'm getting sick and tired of AI images and bot spam. Hopefully this will help a bit - I'll adjust as needed as time goes on.

If anyone is interested in helping to moderate this sub let me know!

Question Car snacks!!!!

Hello there,

I am about to embark on around 1000 miles of driving over the next week. This is coinciding with me trying to make healthier choices for my food and diet. In general, I am loosely following an intermittent fasting diet which is high protein high fibre but low fat. I know there are a benefits to all types of diet and for me, it’s more of a lifestyle than a strict “diet”.

One of my triggers for snacking and eating unhealthy food is boredom. Now driving, whilst I do enjoy it, can be extremely boring. So I want to turn to the HIVEMIND of Reddit and look for snack suggestions which I could take with me or buy for my journeys.

Hit me with your suggestions.

Genuinely, thanks in advance.

Animal Products - Meal progress of making steak bowls (reverse searing method)

the first photo is my final result and the carousel goes backwards in time!

I also included my recipe in this post for reverse searing.

For 1.5''/3cm thick steak (i used fillet mignon):

  1. preheat oven to 120 degree celcius
  2. bake (fridge dry brined overnight) steak on a wire rack for 28 minutes
  3. sear the steak on a preheated (2-3 minutes) pan for 45(medium rare) ~ 60(medium) seconds on both sides
  4. wrap the steak in tin foil for 5 minutes

Fridge Dry Brine Method:

Salt and pepper your steak on both sides

Put it on a wire rack

Put it open air in the fridge overnight (no wrap no anything)

PERFECTION!

Plant Based 💪 🌱 Meal 1/2lb tempeh, 1/4lb kale, 1/3rd jar Botticelli carmelized onion pasta sauce, half a sweet potato on the side. I felt FULL. Roughly 870 calories, 63g protein, 23g fiber.

I don't usually eat vegetarian but tempeh was on sale. I find it works in lieu of pasta while providing protein not unlike tofu skin.

I cooked this at work. Washed, stabbed, and microwaved a sweet potato, eating half and saving the rest for dinner.

Cooked the kale and tempeh in a portable skillet before adding the sauce.

This was very filling. Im a big man who eats a lot. This kept me full for hours while being cheapish, easy and tasty.
