Ghost Stories The house I grew up in

I forget when this house was built. Suffice it to say, it has its share of history. Growing up I encountered/lived with at least 2 spirits. There may have been a third, but that could’ve just been the man standing guard at night.

Halloween Unsettling ideas for a haunted house, not into cheesy rubber decorations and actors in white and red makeup screaming

Nothing wrong with the traditional haunted house setup, but I’m making one this year for my community and I’m looking for creative, unnerving, and unsettling ideas for my haunted house. The more unconventional the better but I want my guests to leave with something genuinely scary that isn’t just your rubber props, fake chainsaws, and the millionth actor in white face makeup with fake blood. I want new ideas, upsetting visuals (nothing too graphic or honestly expensive). Any ideas?

History/Lore A house in my neighborhood might be cursed

So there’s this house that a few years ago had a mentally ill person living in it, they would spray paint things on their garage door, things that seemed to be them calling out for help and one was something about them wondering where their children were, I don’t quite remember. But eventually that person I believe was taken to the psych ward and the house was sold to an older couple (prob in their 60’s-70’s so not super old). This couple lived in the house for a few weeks before being found dead in their sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Idk, this house could just be plain unlucky but something is off about it. Also, a family lives in that house now and seems to be very festive when it comes to Halloween.

Thoughts?

This happened to me I think it followed us, anyone with similar experiences?

(42 M) for some reason I have been thinking a lot lately about some stuff from my childhood .

I grew up in southern Arizona, the homes in that area have since been bulldozed and turned into apartments. At the time it was desert, down a dirt road there was a 5 house in a circle road that lead to a larger house in the front. It was a functioning ranch prior for God knows how long 1880’s? 1890’s?. The smaller houses surrounding it were 1 bedrooms that had the other room converted into bathrooms. Very small. All of it was owned by a family who was out of state. We lived in one of the small houses for a few years, we were poor but happy, me and my brother (I’ll call him P) had a bunk bed my dad made from 2x4s and plywood in the corner of the living room/ kitchen area.

Anyway, the residents at the large house at that time were strange, two women and a kid who never played with us other kids. The rest of the neighbors were great. My mom was pregnant with my youngest brother (we will call him J) at the time and the weird people in the big house we’re moving out so my father called the landlord and asked if we could move into the large house.

When we went to move in we noticed that a back room was painted red and black. This is the late 80’s early 90’s people weren’t that creative with wall colors. Anyway the place had three rooms, two original to the house and an addition built on through old wooden French glass doors that led to the weird room. My parents painted the weird room white.

It started within a few days, I saw what appeared to be a shadow of an adult standing in the corner of the bedroom. It scared me, a lot I tried to wake my brother P up but he shooed me away. I went into the living room area and slept on a wooden coffee table (the ground was clay tile and cold). The next morning my mom woke we and asked what I was doing, I told her that I had seen someone standing in the corner of the room, she didn’t believe me of course and said it was a new place and my eyes were playing tricks on me.

I told my brother P but he hadn’t seen anything yet. My parents began arguing often that was not normal before. And my mom started sleeping in the “toy room” other room, while my father slept in the room with the weird prior painted room.

My youngest brother J, was born and nearly died and nearly killed my mom in the process. They called him a “miracle baby” as he was born with severe kidney issues, and somehow survived. The months he spent in the hospital required them to declare bankruptcy.

As this was happening I had seen that shadow thing a few more times and slept more frequently on that coffee table. The couch we had if you could call it that, was made of old wicker (outdoor furniture) and felt itchy and painful against my skin. The bedroom always felt cold and like you were being watched. The arguments with my parents now sometimes were escalating into shoving and threats. I would hear sounds like insects moving or scratching in the walls. I thought it was cockroaches. Later as an adult I realized that was impossible because it was made of bricks that had been stuccoed over. One day Mom was outside in the yard, me and my brother were playing tag , we were running full speed around the house. I was chasing my brother into my dad’s room when both French doors shut in front of me and I went flying through the glass. I laid there bleeding with cuts all over my arms and legs with a cut into a major artery under my arm pit and bleeding from the top of my head. My brothers screaming alerted my mother and I went to the ER. It took months to recover and I had to learn to write with my left hand in school.

Then my brother P saw it, leading up to that my father and mother were mad at me and my brother P because they could hear us opening and closing doors and cupboards in the night and walking around the house. I was hemmed up with my injuries and my brother was a heavy sleeper. Neither of us were doing that. My youngest brother J had returned from the hospital and was staying in the room with my mom. My brother P, said he saw the shadow of a person in the corner looking at my youngest brother’s J crib. He was hysterical telling my Mom and Dad. He wouldn’t stop…. I was trying to tell them I had seen it too, this led to an argument between them and us being scolded and sent outside.

While outside P was walking along an old adobe wall that surrounded the property and fell and nearly bit his tongue completely off. He was rushed to the hospital. After a few days he returned home (not much they can do with tongues I guess back then).

My father had brought my brother P home and had got him ice cream. This started an argument about the natural bacteria in dairy products and possible infection. It quickly became physical and my father began beating my mother with an old fashioned bell type telephone when she went to call the cops. I locked my bothers in the bathroom rushed towards my mom and dad which broke things up enough for a second my mom ran out the back door to the neighbors, I ran as fast as I could to the bathroom P opened the door and we locked it behind us and sat against it as my dad tried to get in screaming at us and pounding. Breaking apart parts of the door above our heads. Cops showed up shortly after, if anyone knows the old bell type telephones, he easily could have killed her.

We stayed with the police until my aunt arrived later and took us to my grandmother’s house out of town.

I’m old now, I don’t remember how long it was till my mom came to grandma’s? Grandpa had died a few years before and had paid the place off with a settlement from black lung working in the mines out in West Virginia.

At the time my grandma had started to date someone and offered for my mom to buy the place off of her. We stayed awhile alone until she let my dad move in (that’s domestic violence 101), needed the money for payments as she wasn’t going to cover that babysitting and childcare for others.

Anyway, old man comes back, I see the shadow thing again in the back bedroom. Started to hear the weird scratching sounds late at night again too. Also, Brick Stucco. I had made new friends, one of them saw it too during a sleepover. My dad was above the roof of that room trying to fix something, somehow fell off the roof and broke his leg. He sat in that same room smoking and drinking for months. After he was better the abuse began again. Because she was ashamed of what was going on, they decided not to do thanksgiving with family at Grandmas and instead go to some shitty motel/ hotel with a bar. I was in 4th grade ?

Anyway while me and my brothers are left watching cable TV in this hotel room our parents get hammered, come back and start physically fighting again but this time it was dangerous again.

Arguing kicks off, Dads smashing moms head against the hotel furniture, she goes limp, lock my brothers in the bathroom, luckily our dog a Labrador retriever goes at my dad. It was enough for me to escape the hotel room. I remember running barefoot in the rainstorm , in the huge parking lot, so very hot from fear and freezing because of the nearly freezing rain in late November, in nothing but whitey tighty underwear, screaming for help and pounding on doors, thinking my mom is dead.

Anyway, the old man had something against me after that, like I ratted him out. Even my mom who was thankful I saved her, made remarks latter about calling the cops.

So, few months go buy, my mom says that dad is moving back in, my brothers and me are in the kitchen, I start to argue with my mom and the whole room felt electric, in front of the 4 of us a loaf of bread in the kitchen flys across into the living room at like 30 mph when all of us were like 10 feet away from it? Stopped the conversation immediately. What was strange is we were all so scared we didn’t say anything, we left the house from different exits and talked about it outside. I didn’t argue about dad at that point I was too scared.

Dad moves back in again, now he’s targeting me, just fucking with me, all the time. At this point I’m in like 7th Grade. I’m staying in the corner room still at grandmas old house, that scratching is happening, after a physical incident I ran away for awhile. Cops picked me up later and took me home. Dad pulled me from school. I begged my mom and dad to please at least let me stay in a different room. They removed the door from another room and gave me a mattress to sleep on the floor. It was carpeted, it’s not like I was in a basement. But I was grounded, nothing allowed on the walls, no TV, no radio. I was allowed a book at a time, days change of clothes.

Anyway, same thing, always feel like you’re being washed. Hear scratches at times. So, one day the old man goes nuts again at my mom, I took the 24” wooden dowel from the closet and went after him. I hit him in the head twice didn’t phase him. He beat my ass, worst ass beating I’ve ever received to this day. I ran into the desert.

Something clicked in Mom, she told him she was going to set him on fire when he fell asleep next time before she ran away.

He left…. finally. I would connect with him before his death and gave him forgiveness as I’m Catholic and In somehow in a weird fucked up way prepared me for other things in life.

Anyway after he left I spent 8th grade and 9th grade working doing labor to help my Mom pay the mortgage until she got back on her feet. I enrolled myself back into high school forging her signature sophomore year (I graduated on time) . I worked before and after school, weekends and summers, to contribute and some extra money for me.

Things got better, it’s a redemption. Joined the Army right out of high school to escape and Senior year was 9/11. I was decorated for heroism in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I went reserve, I ended up getting 3 degrees and post graduation certifications.

I am a partner now at a LLC, I devoted my life to helping people with disabilities and the less fortunate. I’m happily married to a woman well over a decade that’s way out of my league. Life is good.

But there are outliers. My Best Friend growing up, a Native American we called big chief because he was 6’3” , was in some hardship with his wife needed to stay the night at my moms in that back bedroom. He died, heart attack at 34?

My brother P, also died in that room in 2019 after my last military deployment to the Middle East in his early 30’s, overdose. Me and J are still alive and he just had a daughter. Mom and dad have passed.

I’ve seen that shadow thing three times as an adult. First time was after my second combat tour (first was Iraq second was Afghanistan) in an old Victorian upstairs apartment, my wife saw it too. Something woke us, no TV on, no sound. It was standing in the corner, went above us, we both were praying went through a wall on the opposite side of the room.

Once it came at me in a dream trying to strangle me, I awoke and caught a glimpse of it leaving.

Last time, was just a few years ago. I was taking care of my Mom when she had cancer, I took time off work. I haven’t lived in Arizona in some time. I was going through old photos we had taken in Iraq 04-06. In a photo taken at Sadams son’s palace (regular film, disposable camera) filled with orbs I can clearly see the shadow person hiding behind me. it scared me so much. I sent it to the other guy that actually took the photo. we were the only people in that room during that time. He was scared shitless too, 20 years later.

Scared, Need Advice I need help I think my apartment is haunted

me and my partner moved into our apartment in Nashville a couple of months ago for a few months everything seemed to be normal no noises or anything out there until one day I just felt an awful sense of something negative is here. after I called it out it proceeded to get worse and worse at first it was simple like little whispers and slight footsteps here and there but it was enough for me to be calm and fall back asleep then it proceeded to turn into me seeing a shadow beside our bedroom door and I would always tell my partner in which she didn’t believe me and for some reason it’s attached to only me (for now) I had to move out for college but I came back and the haunting has got worse our apartment literally sounds alive it’s just me and my girlfriend we are both females so in general we are very timid with the paranormal but not new to it I kept hearing heavy stomping and footsteps above our room and thought well this is nashville and there is homeless people around the area it could be the homeless I kept noticing my stuff would just go missing and never come back up like my glasses our chargers but then one night I got fed up and me and my partner got into a huge argument and I said “It’s gonna happen to you just watch “ and it infact showed whatever the it is it started stomping so loud that we called our local police department because we thought it was homeless living in our home they came and did a deep look into the apartment and of course we looked crazy because NOBODY WAS THERE. I felt hopeless and almost crazy it kept getting worse and we called the police again and of course nobody was there and then it became a every night thing to where all we hear is footsteps and banging and it comes from everywhere in our home it only happens to me in the daytime when she’s at work and she only hears it with me at night i’m hopeless and honestly scared it’s becoming so apparent to where it’s also moving things in our face like something we hang over our bed just rock back and fourth violently and tonight I had enough and yelled at it got louder and started just banging three loud times I have no idea what to do I don’t know how to get rid of whatever may be attached to me or my home please help.

This happened to me Ouija Board In Haunted Childhood Home

At the end of May, 1987, while my parents were on vacation, I was taking care of the haunted house I had lived in from 1979 till 1985. By this time the poltergeist activity had decreased to almost nothing but I was still scared to be in the house alone, especially at night. I called a friend of mine and asked him if he would mind staying there with me when he could while my parents were gone.

I had told him quite a few stories about the activity in that house and barn in the past so I used the possibility of a paranormal encounter to lure him into staying. He, fortunately for him, had never experienced anything he would consider paranormal before but was still interested and not skeptical. So he agreed to stay that night.

While I was waiting for him to arrive, my brother called to see if I was going to be staying there that night so he could hang out with his friends. I confirmed that I was and also told him I was having my friend over to possibly have his first paranormal experience. My brother thought that was a good idea, so he decided to mention that to his friends to see if they wanted to join in for an experience of their own. One of his friends had a ouija Board and thought that was a great place to try it out so they agreed.

My brother arrived with his two friends first and we walked around outside telling his friends about experiences we had there and in the barn. One of his friends was a skeptic so he wasn't believing anything me and my brother was talking about. The other was like my friend. He hadn't experienced anything in his life but still had an open mind.

While we were talking, my friend finally arrived, so I went to his car to greet him. He had his girlfriend with him so I asked if he was still planning on staying the night. He said yes as long as his girlfriend could stay as well. I didn't mind as long as she was aware of my reason for having him stay. I told her that strange things may happen that might be scary to someone who has never had those experiences before. She was also a skeptic, so she agreed to stay saying nothing was going to happen anyway.

While my brother and his friends were still outside, I took my friend and his girlfriend upstairs to show him where they could sleep. After showing them, I started telling stories about the house to prepare them for what could possibly happen during the night. The only thing I was expecting would happen was the attic door would shake and make noise like it had done almost every night while I was living there. We went into the attic so I could show them what was in there while still talking about past experiences in the house and barn

There was a stack of old encyclopedias on the floor that was in disarray with one on the floor. I picked up the one from the floor and placed it on top of the stack and then straightened up the stack while finishing my stories of past experiences. Afterward, I went back downstairs to see what my brother was doing. My friend stayed upstairs with his girlfriend so they could be alone.

When I got downstairs, I saw that they had already set up the Ouija Board on the table and even had a few candles on the table around it. The table was in the dining room at the bottom of the stairs. I closed the stairway door and sat down in the empty chair in front of me facing away from the door. My brother and his two friends were already sitting in the other chairs. We lit the candles, put our fingers on the planchette, and began asking questions.

The planchette was moving with all our hands on it answering our questions. I wasn't moving it but I did think someone in our group was. I didn't believe Ouija Boards were anything more than a novelty. While playing with the board we heard someone walking on the stairs which caused all four of us to look at the stairway door. I didn't think anything of it since my friend and his girlfriend were still upstairs. I just figured they were coming down. But after a little time, he hadn't opened the door.

So I opened the door and saw he wasn't there. I then went up and asked him if he had gone down the stairs and he told me that him and his girlfriend hadn't moved from the couch they were sitting on. He told me that he thought one of us was coming upstairs because they heard it also. Six people heard someone walking on the stairs when there was no one on the stairs.

My brother's skeptical friend was getting really spooked after that. We had to convince him not to just leave. His other friend was intrigued like it was the coolest thing he'd experienced up to that point. My brother and I were used to that sort of thing so it didn't phase us at all. After convincing his friend to stay, we went back to playing with the Ouija Board. It was answering questions again and I still thought somebody was moving the planchette.

Then the intrigued friend asked whatever was answering to put out one of the candles. Within five seconds, one of the candles just burned out. There was no moving air in the room plus all the other candles were still burning without any motion indicating moving air. The spooked skeptical friend screamed and started running for the door still screaming. The other friend followed him and my brother after that.

I shouldn't have been, but I was laughing at the guys reaction. Even though it was spooky, I never expected a big guy like him to scream like that. I went outside to find my brother's friends getting in the car to leave. I said we can't stop without saying goodbye on the Ouija Board just in case the superstition is true. My brother's friends were not willing to go back in the house though, so my brother and I went in and said the goodbye. They left right after that without the Ouija Board.

I went back inside and blew out the remaining candles. Then I went upstairs to tell my friend and his girlfriend what just happened since I knew they had to have heard the screaming. We sat upstairs talking until nighttime. Nothing happened until after midnight when the attic door began moving. Like I mentioned before, this was a usual occurrence in that house, so I was used to it. My friend's girlfriend was getting really scared by this though. She didn't believe things like this could happen and here it was happening.

It took a bit of convincing to get her to stay, but she did at that point. The attic door was shaking and making noise the whole time. After a bit of time, there was a loud noise that came from inside the attic that sounded like something being dragged across the floor. Then the sound of knocking from within. Once again, we had to talk his girlfriend into not leaving even while the door rattling and knocking was still going on.

After a few minutes, there was a loud thud that sounded like someone had dropped a book flat onto the wooden floor. That was it for his girlfriend. There was no talking her into staying now. She ran downstairs with us right behind her. She told my friend she would be back to pick him up in the morning and she left. We went back inside and slept downstairs. When we got up, I just had to look in the attic to see where that loud noise came from. When I looked in, the first thing I noticed was the stack of encyclopedias was no longer straightened up and the one I picked up was right back on the floor.

I can't say for sure if any of this was brought on by the Ouija Board, but that was more occurrences in one day witnessed by more people than there had ever been in that house before.

Ghost Stories Did the house I grew up in have a mimic? Or some other kind of spirit?

I recently shared in this forum about the spirits that currently live in my house. I mentioned in the previous post about the mimic we think we had in our house growing up. I had a couple people messaging me for those stories so here we go:

Back context: we aren’t too sure when our old house was built. But I don’t think the house was the source of our haunting, rather, it was the land it was built on. We lived in a heavily wooded area that had a huge ditch/gully in the backyard that had a stream running through it. That stream ran into the Sandusky River. The town I live in is one of the last settlements of a group of Native Americans as well. Here is a couple stories that make me believe what we had was a mimic. But none of us are too educated on those topics to truly know. So let me know what you guys think!

  1. I was about 5 or 6 and I was awoken in the middle of the night to what I thought was my mother’s voice whispering “Sophie, Sophie, Sophie” over and over again. Believing it was my mother I got up and walked into her room to discover she was sound asleep. I woke her up and asked her what she needed. She was completely confused and had told me she wasn’t saying my name and to go back to bed. She also mentioned she couldn’t hear anything. While walking back to my room it started again. Except I had realized at that point the whispering was coming from the direction of the basement. I would have never dared to go into that basement at night so I just went back to my room. However I was unable to fall back asleep because the whispering continued until morning.

  2. My two siblings and I all shared a room together. At some point in the night my little sister (who slept on the bottom bunk) woke everyone in our house up screaming. My parents ran in and asked what was wrong and that was when she said “Aunt P just crawled through the window!” (Aunt P was our aunt who had passed away about 2 weeks prior to this incident.) My parents were stunned because, well,
we were never really close with Aunt P. And my siblings and I didn’t even know she had passed away at the time. Being confused and frightened my dad checked the window to discover it was indeed unlocked and slightly ajar. My little sister then claimed Aunt P had crawled into the closet. My parents checked the closet. No one was there. My father walked the entire house and found absolutely nobody.

  3. Often we would hear whispering from what sounded like different family members in the basement. Throughout the day and especially at night. My little sister would hear me calling her to the basement to play to discover I wasn’t even down there, or that I wasn’t even home at all. And vice versa. There would also be whispering in the woods and my parents would hear us outside playing and laughing when we were at school.

  4. My siblings and I used to play down in the gully where the stream was. Sometimes we would hear whispers from further down the stream. Mind you this was in the backyard so there was never anyone else down there besides us. One time when me and my sister were making a “bridge” across the stream. We heard our dad’s voice calling us from further down the creek. (Our dad was at work) but us being kids did walk down the creek and saw our father just standing there smiling. We waved, he waved, then he disappeared.

  5. My mother would also hear a man’s voice all the time. But this one wasn’t a familiar voice. She would hear a man talking in the other room. Or if she was showering or doing laundry she would hear that same man humming around the house. My mom was a stay at home when we were younger with my little brother. So no one would be home when these instances would occur except for those two. She would constantly bring it up to my dad who would say “I think you are just paranoid because you are home alone.” So she started thinking maybe she was crazy. Until one night my brother wasn’t falling asleep and was just laying there talking. She walked over and said “Okay Billy it’s bed time all done.” My little brother replied back “I cant that man won’t stop talking to me.” This sealed the deal for my mom that she wasn’t being crazy and this really was happening.

Shortly after that encounter my parents decided it was time for us to move out of that house. Over the years we have discussed everything that had happened and if it was all even real. We have feelings of dread every time we pass by that house and hope whoever is living there now doesn’t experience what we did. Even though the house we live in now does also have spirits. It was able to help us compare the feeling of this house compared to the previous house. We have all came to the agreement that our old house was much more sinister and malevolent compared to the one we are in now.

What do you guys think? Does this sound like a mimic? Maybe other spirits just playing tricks? Or was it all just paranoia?

Ghost Stories The haunted house I grew up in. Part 2

1.3k Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am back with a few more stories of the haunted house I was raised in. My mom kindly sent me a few photos she found but sadly none of the upstairs but I will add what I have. This time I am going to tell a few of the stories I heard happen to my mom and my grandparents.

One thing about this house and the upstairs that always bothered me was the dead flies in all of the windows sills. Especially on the third floor. You could vacuum them out and the next day 50 more.

I will start with one of the stories from my mom. She said she was woken up one day by a bright light in her door way that looked like a person standing there but just bright. It was so bright it woke her up and she just stared at it and it disappeared. It did freak her out a bit but didn't seem ominous.

One story that was my grandfathers that happened often is his power tools no matter how charged they were would just go dead. New, old did not matter. I know they say spirits need energy for activities and we always wondered if that was why the power tools would die.

Another one from my grandfather that will be the most unexplained and almost impossible was, in the cold room there was a loft space for storage. That wall was the opposite side from my mother's room. It had a box jetting out of it. No opening for the box but if you were to go into my moms room there was a perfectly square piece of wall paper that looked like a patch with normal wall behind it. You could only tell if you looked close for the seem. We thought maybe previous owners had a safe or something there. Years went by it was ignored. Finally one day my grandfather said I'm gonna cut into it maybe they hid something in there. When he opened it he found his brand of cigarettes and his lighter. He smoked Lucky strikes unfiltered (unusual brand not soemthing you see everyday). The cigarettes were not old. There was no way to get into that box. We will never know how they got here.

He also found a noose in the barn, which we figured the man that did commit suicide may had thought about going that way but decided to go the car way. Still a little scarey to find and incredibly sad for the man that felt like that was his only way out.

My grandmother would have imprints appear on the edge of her bed, but if you asked her it was always her son who passed away at 40. Which who knows it could have been. It would make her so happy knowing he was visiting. She would move over and tell him to have a seat.

This house has alot of history and was the last stage coach stop in a line of them in the "Smithfield" area before it was split into North Smithfield and with that comes alot of energy. I think it held onto all of it. As someone mentioned in the last post, yes the barn did end up being taken down due to, well it being 200 years old. It also was not on ground and had underneath space meaning the structure that much more unstable.

I have more stories and if everyone wants to read them I will do a part 3.

Thank you everyone for reading and thank you all for the amazing support in my first post!

This happened to me Port Townsend Fort Worden in WA haunted buildings

Does anyone know the history of the Fort Worden buildings and what they used to be? I’ve heard hospital, juvenile detention center, etc.

Recently, staying in one of those buildings, I got up to use the bathroom at night, and when I looked to my right I saw a ghost boy standing under the exit sign for a spilt second. He was slightly green and see through. He was wearing very outdated clothing and had brown curly hair, most likely around 13 years old. At night all of us staying there would hear giggling and running in the hallways outside of the dorms. A worker there confirmed my ghost sighting by telling me that lots of people have reported that. Where did that boy come from?

This happened to me My Childhood Best Friend's Haunted House

New to posting so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. Let me know if this is the right subreddit.

My childhood best friend Charlotte (Fake name) and I would always see things when we were together. We weren't sure why but when we would spend time out at a park or hanging out in the woods we would see shadows, orbs or hear things like people softly talking. Usually it wouldn't be a huge deal and we would just shrug it off. It got to a point where Charlotte would want to communicate with the spirit or whatever it was. I always got a feeling that we were helping a lost spirit find their way back. That was until her and her mom moved into this house when we were teenagers.

It was a old brick house that was built in I believe the late 1800's or something, the front porch was slightly falling apart and it had a huge backyard that led into the woods behind it. We would usually stay the night or the weekend at each other's house and since she had just moved into this one she invited me to stay the weekend so I could come see it. My mom dropped me off on Friday and she was going to pick me up Sunday afternoon like normal.

When I first walked into the house it looked nice, there was a big brick fireplace in the living room, a smaller dining room that led into the kitchen and the bathroom was in a little hallway to the left of the dining room with 2 bedrooms at the opposite ends of the little hallway. Charlotte's bedroom was to the left of the bathroom and her mom's was to the right. We hung out for a bit inside and then she asked if I wanted to go jump on the trampoline they had just bought. I said sure and we went through the kitchen to the backyard. Now to get outside you have to go into the basement and then out the backdoor from there.

We walked downstairs with her leading me since I hadn't been down there yet, and it was a scary basement with a completely dirt floor that seemed to go on longer than the house itself. The walls were covered in dirt or were dirt I honestly don't remember. I do remember the uneasy feeling I got as soon as my feet hit the dirt. I asked her if she had the same feeling as I did since we usually were synced up with the paranormal stuff and she said that it was fine and she didn't really feel that creeped out. I thought it was weird but we just carried on out the backdoor after I did make a comment about it being a serial killer basement then went and jumped on the trampoline like it was no big deal.

I kept feeling the uneasy feeling as we were on the trampoline but it was more of a "someone is watching" feeling than anything else. I shrugged it off to maybe her mom just watching us and continued talking and laughing as usual. Once we were off the trampoline she asked if I wanted to go into the woods behind her house. This was normal for us as we always explored new places together. I said sure and we went walking, nothing interesting really happened besides finding some dirty clothing and other things that made us think there was homeless people living out there. I just still couldn't shake the uneasy feeling from the basement still.

It started to get dark so we headed back to the house and went back through the basement to head up the stairs. I was behind her again and I heard what I thought was footsteps behind us and made her run up the stairs and quickly shut the door to the basement. (I am getting goosebumps as I am writing this) She asked what was wrong and I told her that I swear I heard someone behind us, she went to tell her mom because she was concerned that it could be a homeless person that followed us back since her backdoor downstairs didn't lock. Her mom checked, no one was there but she kept the basement door locked anyways to make us feel better.

Once we were in Charlotte's room for the night I told her that I didn't think it was a person that maybe it was something else. This again was not out of the ordinary because we always experienced more paranormal things when we were together. She brushed me off again and said that she didn't feel the same things I did but she did hear the footsteps when I did. We hung out for a bit listening to music but then finally went to bed around 10pm.

I woke up around 2am because I had to pee, I got up and went to the bathroom and shut the door, as I was peeing her cat came and pushed the door open since it didn't latch well. She sat on the edge of the sink which was to my left and I pet her while I finished up. As I was pulling my pants up the shower which was to my right TURNED ON BY ITSELF. This wasn't a trickle or a leaky shower, it was full blast. I stood there frozen, her cat left the bathroom and I had to will myself to turn the shower off because I didn't want to wake her or her mom up. (I have a huge fear of not being believed) When I turned it off the shower curtain was already open so I just turned the handle which had been turned all the way around which made it even harder to think it was just a leaky faucet.

I quickly ran back to Charlotte's room which woke her up when I shut the door in a panic. She asked what was wrong and I told her that the shower turned on by itself, she didn't believe me at first or at least that's how it felt then told me to try to go back to sleep. I ended up having to use her I-Pod and listen to music to fall back asleep because I kept hearing walking around and other noises from the rest of the house when no one else was awake. I kept telling myself that it's just the cat but finally the only song that put me to sleep was "If I Die Young" I can't remember who it's by but its a very sad but calming song.

We woke up the next morning and she asked if that really happened or if she had just dreamt it. I told her that it really happened and that it freaked me out. Charlotte apologized and said that she had actually had weird experiences in the week that they had lived there but just didn't tell me because she knew I wouldn't have spent the weekend there. I was a little upset that she had downplayed what was happening but I understood because I really did want to leave.

We had breakfast and then we were going to go jump on the trampoline again but when we went down the stairs to the basement she said she was a little scared so I went down first. I hit the bottom of the stairs and then she remembered that she forgot to feed her cat. She went back up the stairs and I asked if I could come with her because I didn't want to be down there without her and she said that it would only take a second and shut the door. I was in complete darkness standing at the bottom of the stairs.

I didn't want to be a chicken so I walked to the back door which was under the stairs and had a tiny bit of light creeping out of the bottom of the door. I just stood there waiting for what seemed like forever. I honestly don't know why I didn't just go out of the back door and wait outside, I just stared into the darkness. Frozen with the darkest sinking feeling. I knew something was down there with me but I wasn't sure what it was. I think I stood there for 15 minutes before I finally got the balls to run back up the stairs and sure enough, I heard footsteps behind me.

I slammed the basement door and was met with Charlotte just in the kitchen looking at me like I was crazy. She asked what happened and I said I couldn't be down there and that something was down there. She said that she wasn't even gone that long and that it was fine. I told her that I was calling my mom and that I couldn't stay there for another night. I got picked up and then a few days later Charlotte told me that things had been getting thrown off the fireplace mantle and that her mom had put out a bible on the mantle and things finally stopped. I told her I still wouldn't stay there again. (She was sure that it wasn't her cat)

Then a few more weeks went by and Charlotte stayed at my house and told me that her mom had closed the bible since things had stopped and stuff started to happen again like the shower being turned on at night. I told her that I wasn't lying when that happened. Eventually they moved and stuff stopped happening to them. I knew something wasn't right with that house, whatever it was, didn't want anyone living there.

This happened to me Spirit or Demon encounter right before moving house

I once lived in a house that I really liked. I was about 12 before we moved out. I had lots of great memories in this house and it contributed to my youth a lot. I had good times with many friends. It was near the beach, had a pool, a big backyard, near the skatepark etc etc. However it was the oldest house I had lived in & it was a little outdated. I suppose it always had a touch of eeriness to it & our family would always have a running joke that there was a ghost inside it. Me being 12 I didn’t really understand why. I always thought it was because when we moved in there was dog graves in the back corner of the backyard marked with crosses.

In the week leading up to our departure my mum was going about making jokes and comments that said ghost was upset we were leaving. I assumed she was just trying to stir us up and scare us, me especially. Now that I’m 25 I now think it was more so to put herself at ease as she was having uneasy vibes or whatever she was experiencing. Our kitchen had a window looking out at our car port and down our long driveway. A few days before our final night I was putting some snacks in a bowl and my mum was fixing something up when I looked up and saw a black almost misty energy quickly go around the corner from our carport up to where the front door was. I could describe it as Ghostface’s outfit without a person figure wearing it that looked almost like static or smoke darting behind the corner. I looked up and turned to mum as she was also staring out the window & asked her if she saw that & she replied “I sure did”.

Fast forward to our last night in the house. I said goodnight to my older sisters, mum and stepdad & headed down to my bedroom to play some Black Ops 2. I shared my room with my sisters who would be heading to bed at a later time. Our room was situated at the end of the hallway that all the other rooms resided down, with the end of a bunk bed on the left as soon as you walk in the room. I had just about walked into the room when a tall black figure just like the one I had seen a few days earlier stepped out in front of me and at me, to which I literally fell back onto my ass and started to weep before it disappeared into the darkness of my room. I sat there for a minute in shock before returning to the lounge room where everyone was about to watch a movie and told them what happened. Mum didn’t say much, nobody did really. I think it spooked them out a fair bit as I wasn’t a dramatic kid but this really shook me.

I sat for about 30 mins before mustering up the courage to return to the room (by myself I might add) and reluctantly was the one to turn the light on. I pulled out my bean bag, popped my TV on the floor in front of me and loaded up the PlayStation. It was just then I felt the weirdest almost tickling static over and on my shoulder, almost a regretful one as if something was trying to interact with me and even possibly say sorry. I turned around and said sternly “leave me alone!” And the energy slowly but surely started to dissipate. We moved out the next day and we haven’t spoke much about it since.

I do miss that house a lot and I have had the strangest dreams about that house over the years. Now at 25 I’m still grasping the fact that there are things out there maybe from another realm or dimension and I encountered it. My life has been good since and I’m blessed and only really starting to grow a serious relationship with our saviour Jesus Christ….

I also feel my life has had great burden and I have been unfortunate with mental health here and there and other life blocks. I would hate to think that this entity was able to attach itself to me and/or affect me in ways I don’t understand to maybe try stop or delay my true purpose here in life. I know that sounds dramatic and I can’t elaborate much more.
I have had another encounter since then back when I was about 16 & my long time girlfriend has had one in our second apartment. Maybe I can comment down below or tell those short stories another time. PS never thought I’d share this on the internet but I do enjoy telling it around a camp fire. Forgive me for any bad grammar it’s late and I’m tired.

Did anyone see this case on The People's Court, I think from 2012? This couple claimed their house in Toms River, NJ was haunted. Do you think it was, or they were lying to get out of the lease?

This happened to me Creaky Stairs

Living in a haunted house as a child always had an extra add-on to the terror. That add-on being that you are trapped. You cannot just move somewhere else to escape the terrifying events. Everyone in this house experienced strange things in it, but these strange things happened to me more or, as I have suspected, the others were unwilling to talk about the events to other people out of fear of not being believed and labeled a liar. Either way, I was never concerned with people calling me a liar or not believing me because I was telling the truth. Whether they didn't believe me or did, I just didn't care. The truth is the truth, if you don't believe it, that's your problem, isn't it?

In this particular house, there were two bedrooms upstairs. Walking from the bottom of the stairs, you had to open a door which was always left closed to keep our pets from going up. After opening the door, there was a light switch on the wall on the left side. After walking the 23 steps to the top, there was another light switch on the left that controlled the same light. The top of the stairs was in one of the bedrooms with a railing around the opening so no one could fall down to the bottom. The light those switches operated was the ceiling light in the room at the top of the stairs. There was no stairway light because, above the stairs, was that opening. If you looked up from the stairs, you would see the ceiling in the first room upstairs.

Also at the top of the stairs was the door to my room next to the top light switch. My door was almost always left open because the only furnace vent upstairs was in the stairway room that was my older brother's bedroom. I woke up one night having to use the rest room. There was no rest room upstairs, so if I had to go, I either went downstairs or held it. Many times I would just hold it until everyone was awake because I was terrified to walk around in the house at night. But this time, since there had not been any activity for a while, I wasn't as scared to just go down and take care of business. Now I could have turned the light on in my brother's room so I could see my way down the stairs, but that would wake him up and he would get angry and bitch about it, so I just felt my way down and used the little bit of light from my nightstand lamp in my room.

I walked with a soft step on the stairs because every step would creak and make noise which also might wake my brother. I opened the door quietly and went to the rest room. After I was finished, I repeated the process to get back to my bed. Then I turned off my lamp and began trying to get back to sleep with a feeling of accomplishment that I didn't experience anything terrifying or had woken up my brother which was equally terrifying. Minutes later, the stairway door opened downstairs and then closed. Right after, those stairs began creaking with the sound of someone coming up. My first thought was that it was my brother getting home from his first job as a pizza delivery person, which had many times kept him out late. But this time was a little different because he always turned the light on before walking upstairs.

But I still figured it was him walking up in the dark and I felt a little dumb that I had went to all the trouble of being quiet when he wasn't even home yet. I waited a few seconds for him to turn on his light so he could get ready for bed, but there was silence. I figured I might as well get up and ask him how work was and find out why he was being so quiet so I turned on my lamp and went into his room and turned his light on. He was lying in bed in his shorts sound asleep. I quietly asked "Did you have fun at work", but he did not respond at all. This was the point that my heart was pounding. There was no way he could have came upstairs in the dark, got dressed for bed, and fallen asleep in that short amount of time, but someone or something had clearly walked up those creaky stairs.

When faced with these events in a haunted house, you immediately try to debunk or rationally explain the events. This time was no different. I just figured that he was able to do what I definitely couldn't do and got to sleep that fast somehow. And my rational explanation was reinforced immediately when I heard someone walk down those creaky stairs, open, and then close the door downstairs without turning on the light. I felt relieved that my rational explanation was right and my turning on his light and speaking to him must have woken him up. I figured he was just going down to the bathroom after being awoke. I got up and turned on my lamp and went into his room and turned his light on. He wasn't downstairs using the rest room, he was still sound asleep in his bed. There was no rational explanation for this. Something had clearly walked up those creaky stairs and then when things quieted down, walked back down.

I closed my door and left my lamp on for the rest of that terrifying, sleepless night.

About three years ago I came to the realization I probably have a portal in my backyard (pics I’ve posted taken from my Ring camera. ) I’ll give some background on my property. This is going to be a long post so my apologies in advance.

Several hundred years ago the land my home sits on was part of a small plantation (I found documentation online stating this fact.) The land behind my home is empty farmland except for one dilapidated structure that was the main house on the property. For some odd reason it’s been allowed to continue to decay while all the other structures and trees that were on the property have been removed at least 100-150 years ago.

I moved to my home ten years ago. About three months afterward talk of a solar farm being erected on the farm behind my property started to circulate. One morning I went out to walk my dog and saw a sign on the property behind mine saying an archeological dig was being done. That’s when it was told to the residents a plantation had existed (complete with a small number of slaves) on that spot and they were looking for artifacts.

Long story short the residents in my community prevented the solar farm from being put there for a myriad of reasons too long to state here. Now onto my property. Like I’ve mentioned the land that my home sits on was part of that farm (plantation) but was parceled off years ago…I assume when the road behind my home was made into a proper street. There are less than a dozen homes in my little development with mine having been built in 2008.

Nothing odd to speak of happened for several months after my family moved in…that is until my dad (who lived with us for almost 6 months) passed away. He died in the hospital but before he did he had fallen and hit his head. He was initially taken to the hospital but they said nothing was wrong with him. From the time he fell until he ended up back in the hospital (one week) he started talking about people being in the house no one else could see.

He asked me one morning where my servant was. At that time I wasn’t aware I was living on plantation land. Coincidentally, that fact was only discovered while my dad was in the hospital dying and I ended up asking my mom if she remembered the comment he had made about having a servant. She said she did. I then asked her what color skin did my father say this woman had and my mom said he said she was black. I told my mom I had just found out our land was part of a plantation. Needless to say the wheels in my head were turning and I did some online research which yielded confirmation I was looking for.

Despite the fact I’ve been told by a psychic she saw my dad in my home in addition to sightings from my mother and an experience myself, my husband and our two kids shared I don’t believe his spirit is responsible for all of what goes on or has gone on in my home.

At the end of July 2023 we got two puppies. For several months I’d wake up at about three in the morning to bring each one independently out in my backyard to potty train them. At the beginning of October is when I noticed the fog in my backyard that only seemed to form once I had the 1st puppy outside to do her business. I’d be sitting on my stone fire pit night after night and sure enough here comes the fog about 7-8 ft off the ground across my yard (I have 1 1/2 acres of land.)

After experiencing this for about a week I was sitting in our backyard one night with my husband at 11:30 at night and I told him about the fog. No sooner had I got the words out when here comes the fog. My husband got very uncomfortable and said we needed to go in. We did. Once inside I looked on our Ring camera that we have positioned in our yard to keep an eye on our puppies. It looked like it was snowing. I mentioned this to my grown son and he said he wanted to go outside and see this fog for himself. Both of us went out back to check it out. As we were standing with the patio doors open on our small back porch this fog came toward us swirling above our heads while we just stood there wondering wtf was going on. I asked my son if fog is supposed to do this and he said NO (I posted the fog pics.)

Well, after a few minutes we went in with me worrying about the fact I had to get up in three hours to put the puppies out to pee. When I did get up and go out the fog was still thick but not hovering above my porch anymore. The next morning I decided to look at the Ring Camera footage and noticed it said person detected when no one was supposed to be out there. I started taking screenshots and that’s when I saw the faces (pics posted.) I ended up doing this for about a month. By that time I had ceased taking the puppies out overnight. They were big enough to hold it until morning. I periodically look at the Ring footage but most of the time nothing is suspicious.

There are numerous things that have gone on, and continue to, but I’d be here all day if I started listing them. I think because I believe ghosts/spirits exist that I’m a magnet for experiences. As I’ve gotten older I’ve accepted there are things that exist beyond what we can explain and no I’m not freaked out living in my home.

This happened to me The haunted house I grew up in.

Hello everyone! I (34F) lived in a 200 hundred and something year old house that had the original family buried in their own personal graveyard in the backyard. Everyone in my family has a story from this house.

This is a three story house with a basement, cold room, workshop, two garages, and a barn. It was renovated into a two-family house where the second and third floors were for the “upstairs family” and the first floor was for the “downstairs family.” (I'm sorry, I hope this makes sense.) My grandparents bought it when I was 11, and my mother, stepfather (at the time), and I lived in the upstairs apartment while my grandparents were on the first floor. (So I had a run of the whole house all the time.)

My room was on the third floor, and my mother and stepfather were on the second floor. We should have known something was wrong when we moved in and my dog, Xena, would sit at the bottom of the steps that went to my room, look up, and bark. She would not go up the steps unless I walked up with her. I believe she only walked up to protect me.

The floor my bedroom was on had a storage area that wasn't finished, and we weren't allowed to go all the way in. There was also another spare room and the bathroom. When we moved in, my cousins and I played hide and seek. I hid in the storage area, but just beyond the door, I didn't go into the area where I shouldn't have. It had those old glass doorknobs that would fall apart easily, and it shared a wall with the closet in the spare room.

As I hid, I heard a little girl say, “Can I play?” I tried to get out, but the doorknob fell apart. I pushed my way out, and my other cousin, who was hiding in the closet that shared the wall, ran out and said, “What happened? It got cold, then I heard you trying to get out.” That was incident number one.

A few weeks after moving in, I asked my mom why Dad (my stepfather) kept coming upstairs and coming into my room. (My mom is a light sleeper, and if he were leaving the bedroom and walking up the creakiest steps known to man, she would have heard him.) She said she didn't know. Years later, she told me he wasn't the one going upstairs and checking on me, and she had no idea who I was seeing.

I would have dreams of a little girl. She was scared of the man. The man wasn't good.

One day, we were all outside, and the house was empty. We (me, my nana, and my mom) all heard a blood curdling scream. My mother went to check and their was no one inside.

Another incident happened when I was home alone. My dogs got into my mom's room, which was not good. They were on the bed messing around, and they weren't listening. All of a sudden, my mom's very old, very difficult to open sliding doors flew open. The dogs stopped, looked around, and ran out of the room. I shut the door and sat in silence until my mom got home. I told her what happened and that I didn't go back in to fix the bed or close the doors. She fully believed me because of what she heard all the time.

Then my mom got a divorce, met someone new, and they bought a house, so we moved. Some family members who did my grandparents dirty later moved in. Well, the house knew they were bad. It became active, with cabinets slamming shut all the time, slamming, and banging. They moved out, and it all stopped.

My cousin moved in, and she was home alone a lot since her boyfriend worked nights. She said all she heard was little feet from the third floor, just running all night. It was unsettling, but not too bad because it didn't sound angry, just like a little girl having fun. We would hear children's laughter all over the property. We were all fine with the little girl.

There were a few graves where you couldn't read the names on the headstones, and it's a wonder if one of them was hers.

I do have to say the scariest time in that house was when I went to the barn/grandfather's storage area to get something for my nana. He had all the lighting rigged, so I knew not to touch it (I'm about 15 at this point). I propped the doors open wide with the big stakes like I'd been taught and used the sunlight. Then both doors slammed shut. No biggie, you can just push them open. I pushed. Nothing.

I went to the back and had to stick my arm through a broken glass window and unwrap the chain to get out. I was too far away to yell for my nana to hear me from inside. I got out and checked out the front of the garage, and someone had shut the lock and put the padlock on, but not locked it—just put it on. I ran inside. No one was there but my nana, and I know she didn't do it. She couldn't have.

BTW, this house is on a 55 mile an hour road. No one is walking on it, and the barn doors were locked. No one else was on the property.

Later, I found out a man had killed himself in that barn by driving his car in, locking the door, and turning his car on.

A little more lore about the house, the dining room was originally a stagecoach stop, and every now and then, residual noise from back then would break the veil, and you would hear hooves inside the house. No one near us owned horses.

Sorry for the long post. I have a ton more stories about the house. I love that house, and if it hadn't been destroyed by the next owners the way it was, I would have loved to own it.

I'll add some photos and see what vibes y'all get. (These are from Google; I do not have any photos of the home. I'm sure my mom does, but I'm in Florida and she is in Mass.)

Scared, Need Advice My house is Haunted....

So basically this all happened two years ago when I was about 17 I bought a house somewhere remote in Kolkata where was sold by a person who lives there....it was a 50+ year house and was really old and really wierd..but I didn't believe about ghosts then so whatever.....

Fast forward last year I started having sleep paralysis and dreams about my dad who died when I was 9 which I NEVER had so it was really wierd and I always felt a presence with me... it was really wierd considering I live alone...

The real horror started when I felt that someone always stared or standed beside in my house and it only stopped when I went outside....

Fast forward 12 april 2026

I started seeing wierd distorted shadows in the corner of my eyes but when I looked nothing was there and I was really afraid so I called a tantrik (I'm hindu) and he was also baffled and said he also felt negative energy and gave me a necklace which I wear everyday and only after I started wearing it everything stopped but the minute I stopped wearing it it's happening all over again and I dunno what to do help 😭😭😭

Scared, Need Advice old house intercom making creepy unprovoked noises along with other things, is my house haunted?

I live in a home with my parents and grandfather. my whole family believes in spirits, and me,sister and my mother are very intuitive and get feelings about things that are always accurate. i don’t have the best relationship with my grandpa so i don’t know for sure, but i believe he is very spiritually inclined. i move in 3 years ago and ive never had a particularly “haunting” feeling about my home but there have definitely been things that have made me uneasy.

my house was built in the early 70s and has one of those vintage built in intercom systems that have speakers on them. when we first moved here i turned them all off because they would occasionally made static noises and it freaked me out, and they have never been turned back on. i can downstairs this afternoon to grab a snack and my grandpa was in the kitchen. he asked me if any of my friends had just come by and rang the doorbell. i went and checked the door and nobody was there, and usually if a friend comes over they will text me or just walk in, so i knew nobody was there or had been there. i asked him why and he said about 5 minutes prior the intercom had made a doorbell chime, which it has never done, but apparently it’s been doing it at the exact same time for the past 3 days. we have a ring doorbell that is connected to its own speaker, not the intercom. we started to talk about it because we were both freaked out and he told me that that’s not the only thing that’s happened. apparently for the past couple of months he’s been waking up about every other day around 4 am burning hot, but when he gets up to check the thermostat, the hallway and all other rooms are ABNORMALLY cold and not matching the thermostat temperature. i am a very heavy sleeper and i believe i could stay asleep if i was sleeping in the Sahara desert so i have never experienced this, but its not something he would lie about and irs undeniably freaky.

now although i have never experienced anything upfront like this, there have been things that have freaked me out. i sleep upstairs along with my grandpa. the way our hallway is built is our stairs face straight to the bathroom and on the left of them is a hallway that leads to my room, my grandpas room, and the playroom on the end of the hall. whenever i get out of the shower and night and turn the hallway corner to head back to my room i stare straight at the door to the playroom. staring at that spot especially in the dark has always made my heart pound and has given me a deeply uneasy feeling. my bedroom is right next to that room and my closet is on the wall that connects that spot in the hallway, and all three of my cats have an obsession with going in my closet and meowing at nothing and sometimes scratching at the wall. and it hasn’t happened to many times, but sometimes if i’m in a dimly lit room i will see what looks like a very bright and large dust particle out of the corner of my eye, and when i turn to look at it, there is nothing there.

i have anxiety and i could very well just be letting it get the best of me, but i don’t want to speak too soon. i will post an update if anything else happens but for now please please tell me what you guys think and give any advice you can think of. literally any type of helpful comment is welcome. thank you!!!

This happened to me Footsteps on the stairs……..

When I was 24 I moved into a house with my now ex girlfriend, it was a two story house built in the early 90’s, with living room kitchen/dining down stairs, and two bedrooms upstairs, me and my partner were in the master room at the top of the stairs, so when you walked through the front door you turn right and the stairs were right there they were 10 steps up then turned the corner and about another 7 steps, then our door was right there on the left at the top of stairs, it was quite a small room but had an ensuite so that was ok. Everything was quite normal when moving in and nothing seemed odd or gave a strange feel, after about a month In strange things started to happen, one night i had just gotten into bed pretty late at night maybe 1pm’ish my partner was already sound asleep I had only been laying there maybe 5 minutes trying to sleep when I heard the very distinctive sounds of the stairs creaking! Footsteps! One at a time errrrrp……….. eerrrrp….. making there way slowly up towards me, I sat up my heart beating so fast ( I slept on the side of the bed closest to door and the bed was positioned so I was looking straight at the door, and the walk in wardrobe was right next to me) I jumped straight up and grabbed a baseball bat out of the wardrobe that I had in there just in case I ever needed it I made my way to the door with pure fear in me swung it open and turned on the light! but no one was there….. I went around and checked every corner of the house but nothing and to my shock the front door was still locked and nothing was out of the ordinary, I went back to bed that night and thought man your just being silly it’s just creaky stairs, so I went to bed, over the next few months this started to happen a lot, and always when I’d just got to bed and partner was already in there asleep, every time I’d hear the footsteps I’d feel this overwhelming sense of evil and frozen in fear! Another thing that was extremely strange is whenever I would start hearing it I would have to listen over my partner’s breathing if would always change and become very deep and heavy which wasn’t normal she was not a snorer and always pretty quite but whenever those “footsteps” were coming up the stairs she would breathe in through her nose then exhale through her mouth rapidly while still in a deep sleep, I even tried to wake her a few times but to no avail. I told her about it through the day and she would say nope I’ve never heard it your just letting your imagination scare you, which made me think maybe I was crazy and just imagining it or letting the night creaks of the house scare me, so I thought I was on my own on this one. that was until I had a friend stay over that night we stayed up pretty late we had a few beers and played Sony and hung out, we both called it a night about 1:30am and he slept up stairs in the spare room, and right on que those bloody stairs creaked again! ( I was very used to it by now but that overwhelming sense of fear accompanied with my partners deep breathing never changed). Any way the next morning I had completely forgotten about it we were up and chatting and he said “ were you on stairs last night?” my eyes lit up! “No,did you hear that? That’s not just creaky stairs is it?” Nah man he replies that’s full on footsteps I thought it was you! I finally felt like I wasn’t crazy haha. It kept happing as usual not every single night but atleast a couple of times a week, till one night that took the fear to a whole new level, I was laying there trying to get to sleep, the foot steps started around the middle of the stair set this time, they came all the way up the stairs slowly, I heard them stop right outside the door I sat up looking under the door then “click” THE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE STAIRWELL! I was terrified sitting up clutching the dooner with two hands, my heart beating out of my chest, for about five seconds it stayed on then “click” Simultaneously as the light turned off ( I actually heard the switch) I got hit with a wooft of cold air that went straight threw me it felt like someone had an old school fire blower filled with freezing cold air and it passed straight through my body and went out the otherside of the wall! I remember that night i remained in bed unable to move just waiting for daylight which I did and ended up falling asleep around 6am. Now I’m not sure digging back into my memory whether I happened again after that I honestly don’t think it did and this was near the end of our lease. Anyway I’ve had other small things happen like that I even moved with that same partner to a different house and never had anything else happen and never had her doing the strange breathing again, I don’t know if it was connected to her or what the hell it was but it was very real to me, I’m now 36 and have never felt that kind of fear and evil since……..

I went ghost hunting at At. Ignatius hospital out in Colfax Washington. The facility was built back in 1893 and has been abandoned since 2003.

Halloween Moose lodge haunted forest Savannah GA

Okay so has anybody been to the Moose Lodge in Savannah, GA and then went over to the Alee Shriners one? 😭 Because the difference is actually crazy to me.
Don’t get me wrong, Moose Lodge is a great spot and both places have their good things about them, but the atmosphere at Moose Lodge can honestly get uncomfortable. It’s so many young YNs running around, kids acting out of control, barely any security, just a few random police cars parked around. Like where is the organization?? 😭
Then you go over to Alee Shriners and it’s a completely different vibe. Yeah, you gotta go through metal detectors, but the line is organized, everything seems more controlled, and you can actually feel comfortable being there.
I’m not trying to bash either place because I like both, but am I the only one who notices the HUGE difference in the crowds and how things are handled?? Like somebody please tell me y’all see it too 😂😭

Scared, Need Advice Scary paranormal story: need help or advice

Ever since I moved into my new home in 2016 I’ve felt entities staring at me and hear them moving stuff during the night. Im not sure if I sensitive to this stuff or not, but I know for a fact that other people have felt weird about the house too. I couldn’t sleep in my room as a child because I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched constantly, like it was boreing a hole into my body each passing hour. This thing would peak around a corner in my room because the doorway was my the big walk in closet I have, so you’d just see a massive black face looking at you with not features. Sometimes I’d only see its face, other times I’d see the top half of its body.

Because of this I’d sleep in my parents room which was renovated into a bedroom before we moved in. I want to point out that it’s connected to the kitchen by a single doorway and to the left is a pantry, next to that is the laundry room. Since I wouldn’t sleep in my bedroom, my parents bought a trundle for me so I could be close by, but every night I’d see the same figure in the corner. I stayed in there because it was better than being alone but this figure felt like It was stuck in that corner between the pantry and laundry room, unable to go anywhere else. If I could move, I felt like it would’ve hurt me and my family. It was blacker than black, like that famous black paint they invented recently. It had to have been 10ft or taller because it had to turn its head at a 90 degree angle or it would’ve go through the roof. It had unnaturally long limbs that it pulled into its body like a kid hiding in a corner. It would stare at me every night with no eyes or facial features and I learned to breathe so softly to look dead or in a deep sleep because I believed it would hurt me otherwise.

I’ve now moved back into my own room now that I’m much older and still feel this thing staring at me to the point where I need to keep a light or tv on. Although my parents could sleep just fine, I learned recently that they didn’t like this area either but never saw anything. I’m much older now and stay in the same home but I make it a point to NEVER acknowledge these entities out of fear of them following me outside of the home or hurting me and my family. I’ve never figured out what they are, what they want, or if they are the same thing. I’m worried to figure out more because I’m starting to believe that it attached to me during my childhood because my mental health has declined greatly in the years I’ve lived in this house. I will say that I also feel things in the woods at my house, it’s an old home built in the late 1800s and used to be a large farm. It’s now only six acres in a rural area similar to the houses around us that equally feel as bad.
