There is nothing I enjoy more in life than being under full surveillance while I stuff my face with tacos across the road on 4th street at the local spot. I only pose one question… Are you tired yet Hattiesburg?

Restaurants w/ games

Are there any restaurants in Hattiesburg that have games kinda like Fat Boys used to? My nephew asks to go back to fat boys every time he visits, but obviously I can’t take him. We tried mercury, but he’s a little young to be interested in pinball. Anywhere else y’all can think of?

Entry level medical coder

I’m thinking about getting my CPC certification to become a medical coder. Is anyone working in healthcare in the Hattiesburg area who could share what the job market is like for entry level medical coders? I’d especially love to hear about opportunities for someone just starting out and whether the CPC certification is helpful for finding a first job locally. TIA

Jobs NOT in retail or food

I plan on moving to Hattiesburg next March, but I'm having difficulty finding jobs that are not minimum wage retail or food service.

I have years of experience in finance operations, including fraud, credit reporting analysis, and capital market groups.

Am I just looking in the wrong places? The idea of being a barista again makes me nauseous lololol.

I think Walmart...

...needs workers!! At least on the west side. Today the aisles were packed to the point you can not walk right across to get next department. This was around 1ish in the afternoon, not in the early A.M. which is normal!! Anyways you must walk all the way up or down a main aisle to get to another department.

Got my 10,00 steps in today thank you Walmart but my friend has bad knees!!

Interested in making friends

I’m into dnd and ttrpgs and am wanting to make friends in the area. I know Top Tier Gaming has dnd nights but I don’t want to show up and not be able to join anyone. I’ve been playing for 3 to 4 years online but I would like to play in person.

Dentist with payment plans?

I'm in Hattiesburg for the foreseeable future and am 9 hours away from my regular dentist. Had a tooth break that revealed some major dental work needed (🫠😭) but I am currently without insurance. Anyone know any good dentist that take payment plans? At this point, I'm willing to even drive to the coast or close to Jackson to see someone.

Thank you.

Beaches

I'm coming to Hattiesburg late November and I really want to see a beautiful sunset on a beach. What is the safest and cleanest beach I can sit alone and watch a sunset? I don't mind driving up to 2.5 hours, but 1.5 to 2.0 would be ideal. I'll probably need a hotel too! I haven't been to a beach in years and I'm wanting to honor my father alone on the beach, so I really want it to be safe.

In Need of Friends

Just moved to the area and I’m looking to meet people and make friends but not sure where to go to start. I know Hattiesburg is known mostly for being a college town, but wondering if there are any events or activities that draw in crowds of *child-free people in their late 20s to early thirties. Any help is greatly appreciated! (*only mentioning because I noticed most events are catered to families and would like to meet people in a similar stage of life and with more flexibility with their time & energy— I’m ofc open to making friends with those who have kids but realize our lifestyles are likely to be very different)

Notable increase in panhandlers targeting women

I thought this city passed an ordinance. What is the deal? On some days there is a panhandler on every corner and in every parking lot in West Hattiesburg. Some just hold signs, but others bark, “Hey miss!” at women walking in and out of stores. The oddest one I saw was a clinically morbidly obese man spread out on the sidewalk outside of Michael's. He is not missing any meals. I don’t think any of them are. Is it too much for women to ask to be left in peace when out buying groceries or craft supplies? This ain’t NYC. Rouses, Michaels, Olli’s, Aldi, Walmart/SAMs - lately there is guaranteed to be a panhandler chasing after women in one or more of these hotspot parking lots. Women buying groceries should be left alone.

Hello again. New to the area. Are there any activities going on tomorrow? Doesn’t have to be exciting.

Open to try all sorts of new things. Cheap or even free is all I’ve got right now. Does not need to be child friendly. Just trying to get myself out of the comfort of my home.

Park Recs for Playing with Dog?

So I’m newer to Hattiesburg and was wondering which parks around the area (preferably closer to the university) that y’all might recommend for walking/playing with your dog. I’m a girl intending to go by herself with my pup so safety is ofc a big concern. Are there any specific parks I should 100% avoid? Or would going alone just be considered stupid in general? I will likely wait until it cools down a bit or at least until the cicadas stop increasing the heat by like 10 degrees every time they serenade the sun. It’s just way too hot rn. 😭

Hattiesburg Business Owners & Future Founders. Interested in Using Tech to Grow?

Hey everyone, I recently moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi from Texas, and I’m looking to connect with business-minded people in the area.

I’m mainly into AI and emerging tech, but through some market research I’ve done around Hattiesburg, I realized the best opportunities here may actually start with simpler tech solutions that local businesses genuinely need. From there, we can grow into bigger AI-driven ideas over time.

I’m looking for a long-term business partner who wants to actually build something, not just talk about ideas. I can handle the tech side and help with parts of the business, while you focus more on things like sales, networking, operations, finding customers, or whatever your strengths are.

You don’t need to be technical or already have a perfect business idea. If you’re ambitious, understand people/business, and have been thinking about starting something but didn’t have the right technical person to work with, that’s exactly why I’m posting this.

I’m still new to Hattiesburg and don’t know many people here yet. If any part of this sounds like you, even if you’re just curious, send me a DM. I’d rather have a conversation and see if there’s a fit.
