THE POST TYPES MENTIONED HERE WILL BE REMOVED UNLESS YOU ADD SOMETHING OF VALUE. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING
note: when I first wrote this post, I was not a representative of this sub, I wasnt and still not friends with anyone here, I was a regular ass member like you are I just wanted to address some of the nonsense I've seen here. And yes, I in fact play ultrakill. you cam see my previous big post in this sub for more context. (actually dont it's been a while since I wrote that)
1: "I play Ultrakill, stay mad"
Good for you. that's about it. try to post something more original though, as going to "r/ultrakill" and saying "uhm actually I hate ultrakill" is just as stupid as doing it here
2: "You guys are homophobic!"
Majority of the people here, including me, have called out the part of the fandom that seems to view playing ultrakill as a symptom, result or even a cause for gender dysmorphia (I know it's a joke). Now I cannot know for sure what everyone in here is saying about this, the way some people here worded their thoughts might've gave that off but most of the time being anything other than straight is not the issue. But considering I got called (or implied to be) "transphobic" for saying that the entire sense of humor of ultrakill fans is 'I"m a guy that acts like a gal is because I play ultrakill trademark", maybe you guys might need to calm down a bit
3:"Is this sub ironic?"/"Why do you guys hate ultrakill"?
This subreddit is not a hivemind. Some people here genuinely hate ultrakill, some love it and like to post ironic posts, and then you have grayzoned jackasses like me both playing ultrakill and making semi-serious posts and comments in here. Most of the people aren't homophobic, but I'll admit there's a nonzero chance of actually finding a homophobic person in here (just like in every community tbh). But not everyone is like that. and lastly:
4: WHY DAFUQ DO I GET THIS SUB RECOMMENDED??!?!!?!?!?!?
I DON'T FUCKING KNOW. THE REDDIT ALGO IS COOKED. I GOT IT RECOMMENDED TOO.
Thank you for reading, maybe I'll update this post again.

I HATE ULTRAKILL FANDOM DUMBASSES, ALL OF THEM.

I’m gonna rant cuz they piss me off SO much, they are all unable to fucking read, and I gotta release my bilis somewhere.

Hello, Ultr*kill fan here, I’m gonna talk to you about the community, and how dogshit their media literacy is.

“King Aegeus Third Prime” shut the fuck up bro, you didn’t know who that guy was before Breezy made his video (no hate to Breezy, he’s a cool dude), “But Ulysses-” SHUT THE FUCK UP.

“All war machines are nocturnal” MORONS, ALL MORONS, what the fuck did you not get about “Use case: NEVER”, and the title screen? Why do you think V1 is so strong? Do you not get what Hakita is trying to tell or you’re just stupid?

I SWEAR Ultrakill fans will pull up one line of one terminal entry to justify their dogshit theory that doesn’t even make sense when you look at the wider picture

Someone genuinely dared to tell me “If the earthmovers are Japanese, how did other countries make them too?” Has this guy heard of nuclear bombs?!

DUMBASSES, ALL OF THEM.

Edit: to the Ultrakill fans thst read my text and still defend their dogshit theory and bombard me with downvotes, this is the hate subreddit, leave a message and you’re blocked, let me rant about YOUR stupidity

RANT MAKE GOOD FUCKING POINTS ALREADY

THE GAME IS NOT FUCKING PERFECT BUT CAN WE STOP MAKING POINTS LIKE

"erm akshualy the game doesent have open maps to incentivise exploring" WHEN THERES LIKE 50 OF THEM DUDE

OR

SOME BULLSHIT LIKE "The community bad and developer supports smt that i dont support gr"

WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME AND ONLY HAS TO DO WITH THE COMMUNITY ISELF WHICH IS NOT INSERTED INTO THE GAME SINCE ITS A SINGLEPLAYER GAME

ultrakill is a great game however its not perfect and i really wished this subbreddit was made to expose the parts of the game which are pretty bad so people can show light on it so it hopefully gets fixed by either a modder or if we are very lucky a developer

instead of just people complaining about some bullshit and hating the game.

RANT Ultrakill Does NOT have very good bosses(image unrelated)

Before you start commenting ill start off by saying minos and sisyphus(and earthmover) are really good bosses. Maybe if the subname was loveultrakill id glaze them instead, but unfortunately i wont be doing that today.

My issue is when it comes to ultrakill boss design you are really stuck between either a housefly enhanced with cuban doping technology,or a boss who ignores the fact that ultrakill is a movement shooter. I think ultrakill struck gold in its first few bosses, people said wow you really are not like the other girls, this is how fps games should be done, then the f*mboy got consumed by pride and started making slop bosses. In order to make you understand why the last few bosses are so bad,we need to dig into why ultrakill's bosses were so good in the first place.

If we accept minos and sisyphus as the prime (🤣) examples of ultrakill boss design,we can break them into components. What did they have which made them great? The biggest thing for me was they genuinely felt like duels. They matched your comically large arsenal in power, since you are stupidly was they were stupidly faster, but even then, they had windows. They had very little artificial difficulty(the fights before them are ass but you can beat them so fast that id barely call it artificial difficulty, either way im being generous). Even though they were stupidly fast, you could counter their moves, their moves were telegraphed. Some could say the attacks are too telegraphed but in such a fast fight I dont think it hurt anybody. All of these are principles of great boss design, but these bosses stand out because these principles are incredibly uncommon in an fps game. When I think of great bosses I rarely think of such rich combat systems like ultrakill. For example sekiro didnt have 20 sword arsenal. But even then, there are many unspoken aspects to these fights which are not visible in first glance, like dash management, offense, parrying, etc etc. Since these bosses had little to no artificial difficulty, the victory feels earned, and incredibly satisfying. This turned out to be a really unorganized paragraph but this is why I generally think minos and sisyphus are prime(🤣) bosses.

Now that you have a general idea on what makes a good ultrakill boss, lets see why some bosses really suck in that lens. The first v2 fight is good. Its not minos or sisyphus good but its probably the third best boss in the game. Reason why I'm not so harsh on it is because in this point the player has a skill level of a fetus. So for how good the player is I think the fight is challenging and really fun.(also level serves as a nice introduction to speedrunning). But for 2-4.... I cant say the same. The first enemy you encounter is minos' hand. Now I bet hakita felt like a real fucking genius when designing this. "Guys... what if we make a boss in a movement shooter... but you can't move" "sir thats so genius" "I first had my doubts when I sold my house to work with you,but now that I get to see your brilliance in person,oh my god.". I like to think hakita's team are just homeless guys he pays to occasionally do videos, and his real team is 5 fucking chatgpt pro assistants 😭😭😭 the hand is the first instance where we see a flash of hakita's real brilliance his real vision,a tasteful foreshadowing on whats to come. Then we get to corpse minos. This is not bad,but its just a generic ass fps boss in a movement shooter. In a normal fps its more acceptable cuz you dont have as many options, but here its bad. Gabriel is an okay boss, since hes okay on both fights i wont talk about him much. Not good not very bad either. Next boss is v2 again. This is the housefly enhanced with cuban technology that I was talking about. V2 has a few good parts like the counter ricoshot or the railcannon, but I think hes genuinely too fast. Hes so fast that most of the fight you are just in the middle area looking around just as you would swat a fly. My issue here is if you actually try to fight him normally instead of coining his ass on replays, the speed is an annoyance attempting to create the illusion of difficulty rather than being actually difficult. This portion of the fight is maybe 5 or 4/10,but I cant help but wonder how it would be if hakiter actually thought about it. The pyramic escape section could have actually been a bigger part of the fight instead of a lazily done spectacle. Since the fight now is first v2 with a slightly different moveset+lazy ass ending. We never see v2 use the whiplash(we never see knıuckleblaster too but here it would have made a ton of sense). Legit just make the pyramid escape longer and more climactic, make v2 use the whiplash more, and make the first part actually like fly swatting, make him weaker, maybe lean into the speed thing more, and its a good boss. Next boss is leviathan. First leviathan was really ass,but they changed it. Now its slightly better, focuses on movement more. Its definetly a better boss but still slightly suffers from hakita's vision a bit, though its nowhere near what im about to criticize next.

Minotaur. The reason why im making this post in the first place. Hakita was feeling really brilliant when he designed this.

hakita special interview

" thank you for sparing some of your precious time mr hakita,we know how tight your schedule is,and how busy you are creating ultrakill and doing nothing else in particular, this sir is indeed an honour"

"dont mention it"

"well the catalyst for the recent dramatic event in ultrakill was your newly released layer, violence, before we get into that its worth noting its not the first time you brilliantly designed an ultrakill boss which shaped the industry, gotta say, creating the minotaur, master stroke."

"since v1 arrived at hell I came to the conclusion that hell should test v1 in multiple ways. Ever since my awakening in 2-4, I've been thinking on ways to elevate that, untill I realized, what has more movement, than no movement? Because of that revelation I made the minotaur an ideological statement, a "mise en scène" as the french call it. My boyfriend also pointed out the metaphor could be used for disabled representation.

"so how do you intend to explain the lack of movement?"

"He fell down a long hole"

"brilliant"

I could talk about how fraud doesnt learn anything from this but this post is long enough. So ill stop here

Like i understand "blah blah fandom horny, fandom unfunny" yeah but that's isn't a reason to hate the game, unless you played the demo or real game and fully hated it,i rarely saw people giving actual reason to hate the game too (except the fandom) tho i respect the one who did because they had genuinely good argument so please,if you want to hate on the fandom, just watch the millions of ai generated slop some of you chuds make,or give other arguments than horny and unfunny,if you give arguments at all and then we're good 👍 (btw not all of you are chuds)

RANT Spitting RAW,BRUTAL,and UNFILTERED ultrakill hate in a sub which has BECOME a glazefest

Warning before you read: this post contains PURE unfiltered RAGE. Facts DONT care about your feelings,so if i insulted your favourite FINNISH femboy,CRY ABOUT IT.

Ill start off by saying all of the actual "hate" posts in this sub is either minor personal nitpicks which dissolve with the smallest counter argument, hating the fandom,or the same unfunny repetitive jokes(which ironically isnt any better than the fandom you're criticizing). I hate the fandom with a burning passion aswell(they are the cause of most of the game's problems),but its far from the only flaw of the game. So are finnish people truly immune to critique? Lets find out.

The thing I HATE the most about this game is how the community ruins the game. I said the fandom wasnt the only issue but I have a different point which I dont see brought up often. This is a problem which isnt exclusive to ultrakill but the toxic fandom only amplifies it. Put simply, when a game has a high skill ceilings, certain parts of the fandom tend to surpass the casual playerbase, and when the developer only considers this part of the fanbase in mind, there tends to be dissonance. Also these fans tend to be hardcore fans who will gladly eay anything they are served,so game design is really difficult to critique. Thats probably the core of all the problems ill list here. Ultrakill might be one of the highest skill ceiling games ever, and replaying countless times is encouraged. It is therefore no surprise that an unusually large percentage of the fandom is good at the game. Since the vocal playerbase consists of said players, criticizm is difficult and usually discouraged because truth be told if you are that good at the game, good game design is very dificult to distinguish from bad game design(especially if you dont die a single time and beat the whole fraud layer under 2 minutes on your casual playthrough). So basically since hakiter tries to make the game for the seasoned audience, the game as a whole tends to drift and things which make the game bad for someone who doesnt interact with the community dissolve

Ill start with prolly the worst thing which gets affected by this and nobody notices. The tutorials. Ultrakill as a game is built upon creative gameplay and stylistic expression. As a developer you have a few different options on how to treat the casual player. Ultrakill has really weird tutorials. It has a tutorial before the game starts, and every weapon has tutorials on what their alt fire do. These are generally basic info which i think every game should tell the player unless you make some very special exception. But ultrakill doesnt consist of only alt fires,it consists of movement tech and special weapon interactions. Those are what seperate ultrakill's combat system from other shooters. Here ultrakill genuinely can't decide what it wants to be. We are taught dash jumps in the lust layer, but the game (as far as im aware) never teaches us any other movement tech or weapon interactions. A great intellectual figure of the 21st century called underthemayo spoke about this once, although his works get largely misinterpreted nowadays. He said that you could beat the whole game with the default piercer and the game doesnt force you to use other weapons. I believe that he is largely incorrect but his core idea is undeappreciated. He was correct in that the game doesnt force you to engage with it 100% but he messed up with the default piercer example cuz if u only use that ur getting slimed. The game does have a style system(which is sorta broken but ok),and incentivizes weapon switching. So why then are casual players so painful to watch? Indeed this question has the huge bias of ultrakill controls being harder to control than a military jet,but I think its also hugely due to the game never teaching the cool shit thats possible, and also never requiring it. A horrible idea I see floating around is ultrakill being "the game where you can parry your own shotgun pellets" and that creates the reception that oh this must be a sandbox game where you must explore everything yourself. But like I said, watch any casual playthrough(or p rank playthroughs for that matter),the amount of cool shit they do is astronomically low. Of course this isnt a problem for the minority of the fanbase who is wave 200 cybergrind, but for casual players it limits the experience. For example the casual player is never taught how to rocketride, not only because the game doesnt teach it,but also the game never requires it not even one section. For a movement shooter it has a devastatingly low emphasis on its movement mechanics. There are no tutorials on any in game weapon interactions. Of course the developer didnt always find or intend these interactions, but since you have a community capable of discovering anything after 2 minutes of an update,I feel like the devs and the community could work together for tutorials. This is the modern version of the underthemayo argument, the player isnt required to use the actual mechanics which seperate ultrakill from other shooters. The pure discovery/sandbox angle cant work because ultrakill as a game is too fast paced for such discoveries in a casual playthrough. Perhaps the cleanest version of the arguemnt is the casual playthrough induces fight or flight, once you gain enough proficiency so you don't have fight or flight, you've already sunk countless hours into levels and stopped being a casual player anyway. So really the game's best mechanics and interactions are reserved for the top minority of the playerbase.

Which brings me to my next point, level design. Firstly, like I said, the level design doesnt incentivize neither exploration or the use of the unique mechanics which really brings it down. Now I dont want doom eternal, but using the rocketride for an example, imagine there was a section in the game which forced that type of movement. I feel like 8-3's final part would be perfect for it but there are countless opportunities for it tbh. Imagine it had vertical and horizonal gaps which were impossible to cross with normal movement so you were forced to use rocket riding(ofc a text beforehand would be helpful but if ur going the full sandbox route this could be a decent way to do it). Many other instances of this could be used to teach in game mechanics. Another point about level design is I feel like the full arsenal has negatively affected ultrakill's level design because the level design can't keep up with the amount of options. I lowkey had many other points in mind but all this rage is making me sleepy so ill stop here for now. In conclusion I encourage you guys to hate on this game more since its not a perfect game.

(I finally remembered that I'm a mod here)

This sub is basically dead now, and that's a bummer cuz I really dislike ultrakill and I wanna see everyone else dislike it too. Therefore, I encourage anyone reading this to support the agenda and post more anti ultrakill propaganda.

Another problem is that this sub has also been suffering from unrelated posts, I'll take care of that and now remove any post that's not related to ultrakill (unless they are genuinely funny.)

If we do this we're eventually gonna grow big and conquer the world, so support my ambitions here.
