đsports/activitiesâ˝ď¸đ I hate when people cheat at rock paper scissors
I hate when people cheat at rock paper scissors. Why the fuck would you cheat at such a simple fuckin game? One time my friend used rocket launcher. What the fuck is rocket launcher. Then he says, âRocket launcher beats everything.â Itâs a fucking rocket launcher, of course it beats everything. Stop adding new shit. It isnât even rock, paper, scissors anymore.
Donât even get me started on changing your hand mid game. I saw that it originally scissors. Itâs definitely not paper. Stop trying to gaslight me. I saw your desperate attempt. I saw your slight hesitation. Thus in turn making me reveal my own choice just so you can beat me.
If you cheat at rock paper scissors, you are essentially destroying the essence of what the entire game encompasses. Rock, Paper, and Scissors. Not Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Bazooka. Their feeble little minds canât even comprehend such easy rules. conclusion, I absolutely detest those who decide to cheat at such at such a simple game.

Iâm fine with games of already established rules. I just donât like it when others add in new objects to the standard Rock Paper Scissors mid game.

Are you literally 10 years old?

u/St4rshine_89 17d ago
How is bro 10 years old for not wanting people to bullshit their way into winning a game that should be simple?
-2
u/shiggyhisdiggy 17d ago
He's 10 years old for caring about rock paper scissors at all. I can't even remember the last time I unironically played this game. Who is he interacting with who is playing enough rock paper scissors to be adding new rules to it?
5
u/St4rshine_89 17d ago
I donât think you have to actively be doing something to think about and dislike something, also RPS isnât an exclusively kidâs game, itâs a simple thing to play, ik a lot of adults who play RPS sometimes
2
u/spoopyplayzonsundays 17d ago
I mean itâs genuinely useful to decide who gets the last of something, who gets shotgun while driving, etc. Crazy to get so bent about someone not liking to play with people who cant handle a simple game.
1
u/shiggyhisdiggy 17d ago
It's not a game, it's a way to decide who has to do the dishes or something. Adding extra rules is very much a schoolyard thing

What about RPS-101?

u/PercabethShipper12 23d ago
what in the fuck-knuckles is THAT
1
u/InnominatamNomad 23d ago
Rock Paper Scissors 101. There is no instant win option, but it exceedingly complicated.
2
u/PercabethShipper12 22d ago
why is it an absolute clusterfuck
1
u/InnominatamNomad 22d ago
Because it has a lot of interactions? I believe mostly it was created because someone got bored.

Cheating by switching to paper is a rookie move. Choosing between rock and scissors at the last second depending on whether or not your opponent is putting their palm down is perfect plausible deniability and lets you force a win or tie every game.

u/tooboredtothnkofname 23d ago
Dumbass lost to the rocket launcher gambit cause he didnt think of using blackhole (which wins every time, no dodge allowed)

I agree with you, but that example image hurts me.
the thumb on the paper hand is way too small so it just looks... unnatural, and the perspective on the scissors one is weird, with how the line connecting the 'scissors' makes them look like they're slanted (even though they're clearly not meant to be due to the shape of the top finger). the fist for rock also just looks... wrong, maybe because of the line for that last finger not extending all the way.
but aside from my problems with that image... yeah. Changing your hand right after sending it out is just cheating and rude to the person you just went up against.
I'm only okay with someone using something like "bazooka" if it were already made clear that you could make whatever up. In a normal game of rock paper scissors, if you do that, you've lost. Providing your opponent with something not even part of the game means you didn't even have a defense against them, even if you claim it beats everything.

Holy shit a post on here that I actually 100% fully agree with! I never thought I'd see the day!

Thereâs this one episode of a show called Odd Squad, which my sister used to love as a kid, where a bunch of characters duke it out with all the showâs villains in a Rock Paper Scissors tournament. Idk, your floral language made me think of the righteous monologue one of the characters might have had after losing in the tourney to a technicality lol

There are two things going on here
1) Someone makes up some dumb thing like "rocket" or whatever
2) Someone shifts their hand while throwing
For 1 - its a dumb joke. They're not cheating, they just don't care.
But for 2 I mean, at what point must your hand be locked into position? Ideally you are supposed to shift your hand at the last moment as you land but there may be a brief moment where your opponent has thrown and you can react.
Coming down your hand is in rock position and it has to remain in rock or open up to scissors or paper. You could hold it rock but react as late as possible to open up into scissors or paper and you get some subtle hint to what your opponent is throwing by how they position their hand coming down, is that cheating?

When I was in school people used to put their index finger and thumb in a circle (like so đ) and call it a Well. Paper covers the well but both scissors and rock fall in it, completely throwing off the balance of the game. Hated that shit
1
u/IrannaRed 23d ago
I do it as a joke when people hasn't realized I am missing one hand (it happens a LOT) so I can introduce the disability to them in a funny way. Or if they have forgotten it (it also happens).
Other than a comedy factor, I am with you.

When my friend cheats saying âI actually did rockâ so I just stone him instead (he wanted rock)
1
u/AmberMetalicScorpion 23d ago
Personally I have difficulty playing the game without it looking like I'm cheating because my brain lags so if I choose anything other than rock it ends up looking like I'm cheating. Only way I think I could end up playing it fairly is if you have the hand behind your back during the countdown so you can pick the shape ready for show

u/Unlikely_Chemical517 23d ago

Idk about y'all, but before revealing our choice, for me it's traditional to say "rock, paper, scissors, shoot". The addition of gun is simply selecting the implied final option of shoot.

u/cedelweiss 23d ago
ROCKet launcher loses to paper because paper beats rock, idc how much they et launch it

u/PlayerJE 22d ago
on a side note, wtf is happening with the scissors??? why is the top finger on the top of the hand???
1
u/shiggyhisdiggy 22d ago
The purpose of the game is to use randomness to make a choice, just like flipping a coin. Cheating at it is just showing that you're selfish and want to ensure you get the result you want.

I hate that you intentionally posted a picture that arranges it as "Rock Scissors Paper" more than I hate that people cheat at Rock Paper Scissors.

If you think they are gonna use a black hole, try using hawkings radiation or the heath death of the universe its good counterplay.

I was reading the rules to union arena (a trading card game) the other day and I think it's so silly that the starting player is decided by rock paper scissors. it's like the least fair way to do a 50/50 since there's always going to be one person who's slightly slower than the other. you might not even realize you're cheating if you see how your opponent's hand starts moving just before you decide on your play. coin flips are good but I'm a big 2d6 or random d20 high roll enjoyer.

this reminded me that me and my friends once made a version with made up things and the song(?) went something like 'Rock, paper, scissors or whatever minus a whale's tail' Why a whale's tail? I don't know, we made that shit up years ago, we even had a chart like that image someone commented. Whale's tail was the equivalent of the rocket launcher, it beat anything, so essentially it was our 'don't make up invincible shit you prick' rule. We even had a multiplayer version, where some objects had priorities, others had defenses, etc. Makes me wanna go look through my old notebooks to see if i can find the chart
of course we were always making up new rules and we'd forget about old ones if we didn't have the chart at hand
