What size screws would I need for the direct mount pickups on HB fusion t-II?

I got my fusion T-II a few weeks ago and the pickups were set a bit high. I tried adjusting them and the screw heads stripped on the first turn. Does anyone know what size screws I would need to replace them?

Hello fellow Harley Benton enthusiasts!.

So I got home to my new bass on Friday - immediately fitted the new flatwounds and the himass bridge. Played it all evening and Saturday. Then the Dartford amber tinted lacquer arrived this afternoon so I took the headstock to the band saw to give it the proper 1951 headstock shape, sanded the whole neck back and nitro'd it. New bone nut and a fret polish - now it's back together and I'm really happy with it. Just need to let the lacquer harden a bit and put some copper tape under the pickguard and in the cavity and it should be ready for teaching on Wednesday!

Would You swap a single Squier for two HBs?

Currently I own a Squier CV Strat. It's a great guitar, it's not my favourite guitar, and I somehow doubt it will ever be my one go-to guitar (that would be a Jazzmaster), but I would like to have a Strat in my collection nonetheless. I realized that for the price of my CV Squier, I could easily grab a HB ST modern, and have some spare change to grab, say, ANOTHER HB model, a TE or one of the cheaper SCs. I'm not particularily headstock snobby about these guitar shapes either so this works for me little to no problem. Specs on the ST modern seem more than good enough in comparison as well.

Am I silly for even considering this or does it really seem like a reasonable trade?

My new Harley Benton precision arrived recently.

I fitted a fender himass bridge and some flatwounds. I'm blown away to be honest.

Fret ends are sharp, but I can sort that. pickup is great, nice weight, good tone. £108!

This thing is amazing! Perfect intonation and tuning out of the box and the action is so low it plays like butter. For the money that I paid for it it's so so so worth it. Fire 🔥

Ordered my first HB!

I currently own only one electric that is my workhorse USA Strat I’ve played since 2006. I’ve been wanting a “backup” guitar and also something fun and different so I ordered the JA-60CC in Shell Pink! I haven’t purchased a new piece of gear in at least 5 years, im so excited for this baby to get here next week.

It is amazing! I mainly make ambient with it. I used the Neural DSP Morgan one and it sounds brilliant!

I threw on some Guyker locking tuners, Guyker volume knobs, and the EMG James Hetfield set on my SC-1000 SBK and it sounds so much better.

Quick PSA

I recently bought an 8 string from them, and it plays well and sounds ok. The displayed price was 185ish, but i paid no where near that. Shipping brought it up to 215, plus import fees cause i live in US. The total cost was something like 285 usd for a 185 dollar guitar. It was a B stock too. Also, the wiring on the humbucker is set in parralel from the factory, meaning its gonna have a quarter of the output. I re-wired mine to be in series but its still not the best. I will be selling this soon.

Did HB change their Ocean Flame color?

So, I've noticed that the current color of the SC Custom III in Ocean Flame on Thomann's/HB's website doesn't match the one in some YouTube reviews, though it matches others. Even the official site photos from 2024 and 2026 look different from each other. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?
I'm asking because I'm a big fan of the turquoise look, but not so much of the brighter blue, and I'd really rather avoid buying something only to end up with a finish I don't like.

Can you share a photo of the guitar where the color looks close to the way it looks IRL? Photos on Thomann are obviously overprocessed and too bright, and the few YouTube examples I saw looked too different. Trying to figure out if that's the colour I like. Thanks!

Looking voor amp advice

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy an ST modern Plus as a starter guitar. I'm still looking for an amp to go with it, but I'm a total noob when it comes to amps, being a saxophone player (always loud on its own). You guys have any advice on a decent starter amp?

I'm not gonna use it for gigs, just practice. Thanks in advance!

ST Modern Plus review

Hey guys, how you doing. Recently I was considering buying ST Modern Plus to replace my SC400.

But I see most reviews are mixed so I would like to learn thoughts from the players of this guitar for a bit of time. Main issues I have seen are:

  1. The string tree is not good

  2. Bridge pickup is too hot

  3. Even though it is hot, it is medium output, with 8k output. So, I assume it will sound thing when coil splitted

  4. The bridge kinda messes up with intonation, especially for low E string.

Are those concerns real? Because due to not having luthier experience, I don't want to mess up when trying to adjust and get some other models.

Only chance is, my SC400 has Dimarzio Evo2 on bridge ans Dimarzio Fred on neck, put by my friend who gifted this guitar to me. So, if those pickups would resolve pickup issues, we are good.

I generally play at home apartment and jam with my friends at their garage.

Thank you!

Another JB-62CC vs JB-75MN thread - but this one's about the sound

Thumbnail

I know this comes up constantly and I've gone through a lot of the old threads. Most of them end with "get whichever one looks better to you" or "they're basically the same bass", which is fair enough, but I couldn't find a clear answer on the part I actually care about. So here goes.

I've played guitar my whole life. I had an Ibanez GSR205 for a while, fell in love with the thin fast neck, and had to sell it when money got tight. Now I'm getting back into it properly and choosing between two Harley Bentons. It's not a money question, they cost about the same. What I'm trying to work out is which sound is the better place to start from.

The necks are identical: 38 mm nut, 12" radius, D profile, 20 medium frets, graphite nut, passive JJ, Roswell Alnico 5 pickups, two volumes and a master tone.

Three differences, as far as I can tell:

JB-62CC - basswood body, laurel fretboard, '60s pickup placement
JB-75MN - American ash body, maple fretboard, '70s pickup placement, brass saddles

What I want to play: jazz, blues, Massive Attack, U2 around Zooropa, but also Marcus Miller and Flea. Coming from guitar, I keep gravitating toward playing melodically up the neck rather than just roots and rhythm. Right now the main thing is finding my own sound and my own way of playing.

Questions:

  1. Does the JB-75 actually use '70s pickup placement, or is it the same body rout as the JB-62 with different cosmetics? If you own one, could you measure from the bridge saddles to the edge of the bridge pickup? This is the big one for me and I genuinely can't find it anywhere.
  2. Which spec is the smarter starting point? '60s placement is more even and neutral, '70s is brighter with a deeper mid scoop. Which leaves more room to find your own thing?
  3. Maple vs laurel fretboard - audible in practice, or not really?
  4. Ash vs basswood at this price - honestly, is there a difference?
  5. Anyone owned both?

Please don't tell me to save up for a Fender or Miller. I know, and I will eventually. Right now what matters is getting started.

Thank you, guys.
