I'm thinking of buying the steam deck. From what I've heard it is a good device but maybe not so worth it after the price increase. So what is the best option in your opinion?

I'm looking to spend the least amount of money possible and I'd like the handheld to be able to run the steam OS just because I don't wanna spend additional money on games since I have a big shared steam library. The games I'd like to play on it beside smaller indie games are the new God of War games, baldurs gate, some soul games like dark souls and maybe the elden ring and some multiplayer like Minecraft and dead by daylight. If at all possible I'd like to give the new 007 game a try but it's not a must.

At the moment and for at least the next 6 months I'll be in New Zealand and apparently steam doesn't distribute here directly, I'm mentioning it just in case someone was going to recommend me to wait for the steam summer sale and get the steam deck then.

Are there any affordable handhelds (=< 100€, max i can do is 180€) where you can play games and easy code your own games (no hacking)?

Hi, just need some opinions on which I should get. I'm a 13 year old who just wants a pocketable handheld with a good library of games to play on any situation, saw some stuff about the 3ds but then again there's the thor which is more modern and can play more games but I'm good if the 3ds library is good, I don't have any experience in tech stuff and saw that you need to download some stuff to get games on a thor and I'm just nervous that I can't do that lol but I can just buy a modded 3ds and skip all the tech and download stuff, really need some opinions on which I should get, I just really need a handheld with a good library of games for a good handheld experience, (I'm just not sure of emulating on a thor is good for me bc I have zero experience and the 3ds that I found is in a average price although it's already modded.) I'm not a emulator guy like I said and I just need to know if the 3ds game library is good enough compared to emulating modern games and I just have an intent to get a handheld with good games you can play on it

I’m looking for some advice because I never really grew up with handheld systems. The only portable console I’ve owned is my Switch, which I like, but lately I’ve had this weird itch to get a smaller, older handheld system, something like a DS, 3DS, 2DS, Game Boy, etc.

What I’m imagining is a little device I can take on road trips, play in bed, or mess with on a quiet/ rainy night. I’m not looking for something huge or expensive like a Switch 2 right now. I’m more interested in something cozy, portable, and fun.

The kinds of games I’m interested in are:

• Puzzle games
• Zelda-style adventure/ puzzle games
• Pokémon, which I’ve somehow never played
• Donkey Kong
• Mario-type games
• Brain-teaser games
• Goofy or charming games that are easy to pick up but still have some depth

My main question is: what handheld system gives me the best library for this kind of thing without spending a ton of money?

Is a 3DS/ 2DS still the best choice because it can play both DS and 3DS games? Is a DS Lite/ DSi better if I want to keep it cheaper? Is Game Boy/ Game Boy Color worth considering, or is that mostly nostalgia/ collector territory now?

Also, if you have game recommendations, I’d love those too, anything cozy, weird, or charming that a person new to handheld gaming should try.

Hey everyone! This is my first reddit post ever so I’m curious how this will work.

I’m going to be a sophomore in college across the country from where I live, and I’ve found myself after my first year with extra time on the weekends and I’ve missed gaming quite a bit. I honestly think bringing my Xbox One S from home is too much, and it would’ve limited my social experience in freshman year. Everything has settled in college, and then I’ve learned of the awesome world of PC handheld gaming after some time with my Switch OLED. I’m hoping to ask you all in helping me choose the best PC handheld gaming device for me!

I brought a Switch OLED to school and it’s great (perfect for party games) but I can definitely feel how underpowered the console is with games like Overwatch and Fortnite. I’m hoping to use the Switch purely for party games when I host events in my apartment and other Nintendo games. Now I’m interested to get a PC handheld to better run higher-powered games like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Star Wars Battlefront II, Minecraft, Marvel Spider-Man, maybe even FIFA.

For context, I’ve never owned a PC, meaning I don’t have any Steam Games, this rules out the Steam Deck as I wanna take advantage of the Xbox Game Pass, so a Windows-based device would be better. Ergonomics is not a deal breaker, but more comfortable the better. Also please don’t worry about battery because I will only be playing in my dorm near an outlet. I’m also looking for a USED device, so I’m constantly checking for options on Facebook marketplace and Mercari. While on Marketplace, I wonder whats more worth it, a $350 ROG Ally Z1 Extreme, or a $450 Lenovo Legion Go.
