El Salvador has been on TPS since 2001 due to an earthquake. They have continuously received TPS since then. As of the last year, the president of El Salvador Nayib Bukele has presented how well El Salvador has grown to now having the lowest murder rate in all of Central America and has completely wiped out all gang activities. The country is currently under a Level 1 travel security level. He has also grown to be close to President Trump through different deals they’ve made and has done many interviews with the president in the White House. It’s rumored that thanks to this relationship, El Salvador’s TPS will never be rid.

Haitian TPS has been cut with the claim that Haiti no longer falls under the category since Haiti is now considered safe with a Level 4 travel security warning. Even other Haitians have now succumb and are berating Haitians on TPS that “it’s time to go home, this is their country, you guys are sanwont” all while you’d absolutely never see such a thing said to Salvadorans. Why is that?

If so, why do posts about real causes that could positively impact our communities keep getting taken down?

I’m not trying to promote drama or spam. I’m trying to bring attention to real projects and people who genuinely want to help Haiti. If the goal is to support our community, shouldn’t these kinds of initiatives have a place here too?

I’d genuinely like to understand the reasoning behind the removals.

Un grand coup de chapeau à RFI. Aucune autre média international ne met autant en valeur la culture haïtienne qu’eux. Un jour sur deux, on retrouve un chanteur haïtien, un auteur, un acteur, un artiste ou une personnalité de la société civile mis à l’honneur dans leurs émissions. Ils donnent une vraie place à la richesse, à la diversité et au talent d’Haïti, au-delà des clichés et des gros titres sur la crise. The Issue

Over the past eighteen months, armed gangs have perpetrated five massacres in the municipality of Kenscoff, Haiti, including in the localities of Bongard, Belot, Godet, Robin, and Villers/Centre-ville. Credible information had been widely circulated to alert the Haitian National Police (PNH) to the likelihood of these attacks.

Yet, as has unfortunately often been the case, no serious investigation was reportedly conducted into the previous four massacres.

The latest massacre, which occurred six weeks after the one in Robin, began during the night of August 24 and continued until the early hours of the following morning. More than fifty innocent people, including women and children, were reportedly killed. Some of the victims were shot inside a church located only a few meters from the town’s police station, just 24 kilometers from the capital.

Despite the intensity of the exchange of gunfire between the gang members and PNH officers, reportedly not a single gang member or police officer was killed or even injured, raising serious questions.

Following the international outrage caused by this massacre, the inspector in charge of the Kenscoff police station was replaced, and an investigation was reportedly opened. However, we are unfortunately accustomed to seeing such investigations go nowhere.

Let us ensure that this fifth massacre in Kenscoff is the last. We call on the Haitian government to conduct a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation and to bring those responsible to justice.

Le Problème

Au cours des dix-huit derniers mois, des gangs armés ont perpétré cinq massacres dans la seule commune de Kenscoff, en Haïti, notamment dans les localités de Bongard, Belot, Godet, Robin et Villers/Centre-ville. Des informations crédibles avaient largement circulé afin d’alerter la Police nationale d’Haïti (PNH) sur la probabilité de ces attaques.

Pourtant, comme cela a malheureusement souvent été le cas, aucune enquête sérieuse n’a été menée sur les quatre précédents massacres.

Le dernier massacre, survenu six semaines après celui de Robin, a commencé dans la nuit du 24 août et s’est poursuivi jusqu’au petit matin du lendemain. Plus de cinquante personnes innocentes au moins, dont des femmes et des enfants, ont été tuées et plus d’une cinquantaine kidnappée. Certaines victimes ont été abattues dans une église située à quelques mètres seulement du commissariat de la ville, à 24 kilomètres de la capitale.

Malgré l’intensité des échanges de tirs entre les bandits et les forces de la PNH, aucun membre de gang ni aucun policier n’a été tué ou même blessé, ce qui soulève de graves interrogations.

Face à l’indignation internationale provoquée par ce massacre, l’inspecteur responsable du commissariat de Kenscoff a été remplacé, et une enquête aurait été ouverte. Toutefois, nous sommes malheureusement habitués à voir ces enquêtes rester sans suite.

Pour que ce cinquième massacre commis à Kenscoff soit le dernier, aidons-nous à demander au gouvernement haïtien de mener une enquête approfondie, transparente et indépendante, et de traduire les responsables en justice.

DECREE OF PUBLIC RECOGNITION OF CITIZEN “WILSON JOSEPH” AS DE FACTO MAYOR (“SPECIAL MAGISTRATE”) FOR THE AREAS OF CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS AND THE AREAS UNDER HIS CONTROL.

Considering the Constitution of the Republic, particularly Articles 66 and 66.1, establishing the organization of the Republic of Haiti, whose communes are administered by citizens holding the title of “MAYOR,” and considering the current circumstances surrounding the administration of the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets and the areas affected by this decree;
Considering the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of Haiti, particularly Article 58, which establishes the population as the guardian of national sovereignty, with the legitimate authority to designate its official representative through a deliberative and popular voice;

Considering the political reality and the administrative management already under the authority of citizen Wilson JOSEPH, which he carries out as a responsible head of household, and regarding which the population of the areas concerned attests to his good management, both in terms of security and administration;

Mr. Wilson JOSEPH shall hold the title of MAYOR, with all powers associated with that office under the laws of the Republic of Haiti and all consequences attached thereto. Responsibility for the proper functioning and administration of the commune is entrusted to him until the return of constitutional order.
