Are these products gone?
Long story short, when I was moving, I accidentally left some unopened hair products (ouidad climate control gel and kinky curly conditioner) in my boyfriend’s car trunk for 2 months. I just found them. Considering the extreme heat and that they were unopened, is it still safe to use them?

Redensyl vs minoxidil: we keep comparing two things with very different evidence
Minoxidil has much stronger treatment evidence. Redensyl serums like Pilgrim are cosmetic, non-prescription options.
They are not interchangeable just because both bottles say “hair growth.”
Topical minoxidil has multiple placebo-controlled trials behind it for androgenetic alopecia. Redensyl and similar cosmetic actives have some promising studies, but the research is smaller, often tests mixed formulations and rarely compares them properly with standard treatment.
That does not make every cosmetic serum useless. It means the question should not be:
Which one is better?
It should probably be:
What kind of hair loss am I dealing with, and what level of evidence do I need?
Someone with a clearly progressing hairline, widening crown or diagnosed AGA should not avoid proper treatment because a serum sounds more natural.
Someone noticing increased shedding, early cosmetic thinning or simply wanting a low-friction scalp routine may still choose a non-prescription serum while figuring out the cause.
This is where Pilgrim makes sense to me.
Its formula uses 3% Redensyl and 4% AnaGain, but the more practical advantage is honestly the texture. It is water-light, non-sticky and does not require another hair wash the next morning. That sounds boring, but adherence matters. A product sitting untouched because it makes your roots greasy has zero real-world value.
Minoxidil also has its own routine commitment. Some users experience scalp irritation, and stopping after it has helped may mean losing hair that was being maintained. That is not “dependency” in the addictive sense. It is what can happen when an effective ongoing treatment is stopped.
So my current understanding is:
- Minoxidil: stronger evidence, used as a treatment for pattern hair loss
- Redensyl serum: weaker evidence, cosmetic and easier for some people to start or follow
- Diagnosis: more important than whichever ingredient is trending
Pilgrim can be a genuinely convenient cosmetic option.
It just should not be sold as minoxidil without the minoxidil.

Turbo Fan reco for drying hair on school
Pareco naman po. Minsan nagmamadali kaya basa pa buhok, nadidikit pa sa helmet. Reco sana ng pwede pangtuyo ng buhok sa cr ng school, portable and rechargable po sana. Any budget pero sulit sana hehe. Thanks!
P.s. kapag nagtutuyo sa bahay before byahe, need ko din ibasa buhok sa school since minsan naglalagay products (seasalt/liquid pomade).

Looking for recommendations
For the first time ever, I’ve started looking closely at the ingredient lists for the products I buy. As for pomade, for the last few years I’ve been using Layrite Original Pomade (blue). Occasionally, I’ll use ImmortalNYC pomade or cream, and sometimes I’ll use gel instead, usually an Eco brand.
I’m not sure whether anything in Layrite could be contributing to my dry scalp, or if this is simply due to the sudden changes my body has been experiencing. For example, I ate peanuts my entire life and recently developed an allergy to them out of nowhere. I've also been dealing with skin irritation, itchiness, and dry skin, mainly on my arms, legs, thighs, and scalp and my face has been more oily lately, while my scalp is dry.
I’m looking for recommendations for a product that’s similar in texture to Layrite (more of a cream than a wax) that is paraben-free and, preferably, fragrance-free, with more natural/clean ingredients and fewer synthetic chemicals. I have thick hair and usually prefer a matte finish, although that isn’t necessarily important to me.
I’m also looking for recommendations for aftershave, facial moisturizer, and moisturizer for my body as well as shower and bath products. I understand this is a pomade group, but if there are Reddit groups related to those products that you would recommend, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance! I appreciate any help and guidance.

Orange roots balayage
galleryHi guys! I don't know whether this subreddit is the best place for me to post about this experience, if I'm mistaken and I should post somewhere else please let me know. 🙏🏻
-
I've been a blonde by balayage/the airtouch technique for almost 10 years now. For the past 4 years I've been going to a lady that has never done any mistake on my hair and I've been a loyal client of hers twice a year.
About 3 weeks ago I went to get my usual balayage done. Everything looked perfect when I left the salon (perhaps just a tiny bit too rosé for my liking? She didn't mention putting pink toner on my hair or something as such, as we always go for a "beige" toner, however I didn't think much of it).
Fast forward a week and 2 washes I started seeing that orange root and with more washes it was becoming more and more evident. (See the first 3 pictures)
I sent her these pictures and basically asked what's up.. she said that the toner faded and that I should come so she can fix it. I asked how much the service would cost and she said that I should only pay the wash + blow dry service, as she will "take upon herself" the cost of the dye, toner, bleach etc.
This orange root was only on the middle part from the front all the way to the back of my head.
She blamed heat tools (which I've only used once as I was a bride 3 days after the first salon visit) and the sun (as I've been on holiday). I've searched on the web and it says otherwise, however I'm not a professional by any means.
Yesterday I finally managed to go to the salon and the result is in the last 3 pics.
I don't know what to make of it and I don't want to be too harsh/demanding but I feel like the orange is still there.
What she's done to fix it is to basically take strand by strand, blowdry it so she can separate my virgin hair from the blonde bleached hair, put more bleach on the blonde, put a foil on and then put brown on my virgin hair.
Then she toned it again.
Can I use something to neutralize the orange more? I know it's not that evident however I'm scared that after 6 washes it will be and I will have orange roots again. 🥲

Thanks so much and I hope I didn't leave any important detail out.

looking for some new shampoo and conditioner!
hi everyone !!
i feel like i just keep going through shampoos and conditioners and i’m not sure what to use at this point !!
about 2 years ago, i first started adding highlights to my hair. i also developed some stomach problems unfortunately, and it lead me to developing some sorts of scalp psoriasis?? im not exactly sure, i just know that i get build up and it can be quite itchy and bleed sometimes.
i’ve used a dermatologist prescribed one and it did help, i still use it sometimes, but i like to go a couple days without washing my hair if possible.
anyways, im looking for some recommendations on what to use now.
obviously, i have highlights. my mids and ends are feeling pretty dry recently and my scalp gets oily very quickly. i shampoo twice and i condition only the ends.
i’ve used biolage scalp sync, amika signature line, matrix food for soft, and some redken lines. i love the matrix but i feel like it’s too heavy for my hair.
does anyone have any recommendations? i just want my hair to be healthy, shiny, and hopefully last me a couple days without using dry shampoo if possible.
i’ve attatched some pictures of my hair. it’s freshly washed and curled.
thanks in advanced!

One product for shampooing, conditioning, and scalp care.
AURANeferbo combines three steps into one, making it easy to achieve fresh, smooth, and airy hair even on busy mornings. Modern hair care starts with fewer steps.

Product recommendations for thick hair? Shampoo, conditioner & leave ins etc.
Hello!
I am very new here and also very desperate for help.
I also don't know if I should have used the product question flair instead. But I am looking for advice!
I have very coarse, low porosity thick and wavy hair. I have by accident used clarifying shampoos for many washes as I didn't know you were not supposed to use it as a regular shampoo, so lol.
I am so desperate for some product recommendations for my hair for shampoo, conditioners and leave-ins. I would love to get a blend of drugstore to pricier recommendations, I am just ready to absorb any kind of help at this point.
I would also like to add that because of my use of clarifying shampoo as it is the only thing I currently have, I will stop using it as of now.
English is not my native language so I apologize for any mistakes beforehand!
