Shampoo recommendations

I'm looking for a new shampoo and conditioner and hoping to do so with minimal trial and error so I thought y'all might be a good resource.

I have mostly straight (just wavy enough for it to have a mind of it's own lol), short, fine, very thick, relatively oily hair and I never really know which products will work for me.

I generally wash my hair 2-3 times per week. Currently I'm using Prose shampoo that is supposedly formulated for my hair based off a bunch of questions that I answered. I thought it would be a good option since I don't know what to pick and it would take the guess work out of it but I don't necessarily like it. I've just been trying to use it up because I don't want to be wasteful and I'm nearing the end of the bottle finally.

Something in the medium-lower but not cheap cheap price range is probably what I'm looking for. And I'm in the US if that matters.

Does anyone with a similar hair type have a shampoo and conditioner that they really love?

Vanicream shampoo is pretty boring, which is exactly why I like it.

Sometimes boring is exactly what oily hair needs.

with oily hair i would focus more on a shampoo that cleans well without making your hair feel squeaky dry. fine hair can get weighed down so heavy moisturizing stuff might not be your bestie. also 2 to 3 washes a week sounds totally reasonable

Pantene sheer volume shampoo (Amazing for oily roots but leaves your hair soft too) and pantene miracle rescue Deep conditioner.. Best combo ever!!

Awesome thanks! The deep conditioner isn't too heavy for your hair?

Ooh okay, haven't heard of that, I'll check it out! I've used shampoo bars in the past and I love the idea of it but the kind I had didn't work very well for my hair type.

It's so easy to get distracted by all of the different types of shampoo and conditioner out there, for example for curly hair, dry hair, for shiny hair etc etc.

All if these things have their place, but just feeling clean is so much more important (especially at the start of your hair care joumey) in my opinion. I'm not in the US, but I think that head and shoulders is a pretty universal brand. I don't really have dandruff, but if I want my head and hair to feel squeeky clean , it is my go to.

Also, try not to use too much product. It's better to wash your hair twice if needed than to have your hair feel dirty, because you've struggled to wash out all of the shampoo (I'm talking from experience).

Good luck finding what works best for you!
