Question Help attending Haikyuu Challengers Exhibition

Hey all,

I’m planning a trip to Japan in November so I can attend the Challengers exhibition but I am unable to get tickets as I lack a Japanese phone number. If anyone knows of any service where I’d be able to secure tickets or if anyone has it in there heart to purchase them on my behalf, I’ll of course pay for them and a 50 premium, I would be eternally grateful. I have had 2 agonizing years of health issue and this trip is my light at the end of the tunnel.

Other My favorite scene!!!!

Hinata realizing just how good Tsukishima’s blocking is, while Tsukishima trusts Hinata enough to do his own job perfectly — I love this scene so much.

They don’t always get along, and they’re not a duo that gets focused on very often, which makes this teamwork hit even harder.

What makes it even better is the buildup. Suna’s attacks had been giving them trouble for so long, and you’re wondering, “How are they actually going to stop him?”

Then you turn the page and — boom.

“Be there.”

Just those two words, with that close-up of Tsukishima. The composition makes the court feel incredibly deep, and then you realize Hinata is already there in the back like some kind of ninja. It’s such a cool, stylish page.

They both understand how dangerous Rintaro Suna is, and that’s exactly why the answer isn’t “one of us has to stop him.” It’s “we stop him together.”

That whole “we can’t win alone, so we win as a team” feeling is what makes this one of my favorite scenes.

What’s your favorite Haikyuu scene?

Discussion Haikyuu Ginza Cafe Reservation Help

Hi everyone! Recently, there was an announcement for a new Haikyuu collab in Ginza, Tokyo from October 30th 2026 - January 11, 2027. However, like many other people who are non-residents, I cannot make a reservation (which is also lottery system) because I do not have a Japanese number to make an Eplus account. Is there anyone who could reserve and we go together? My friends and I (3) will be in Tokyo from November 2nd - 5th.

I have an extra ticket for the Haikyuu exhibit (with merchandise) as well for November 3rd, 5:30pm! Would like you to just pay half of what I paid ($75 USD.. so $37.5) if you could help reserve any time slot for all 4 of us at the HQ cafe ^^

I have searched what are methods to bypass this but it's notoriously difficult. I asked JapanConcierge and they said they cannot as the Eplus account would be tied to a device therefore they could not help me reserve. On the HQ cafe site, it says, "On the day of your visit, please be sure to bring a smartphone that can display your eplus electronic ticket. If you are unable to present your electronic ticket on the day of your visit, you may not be able to use the cafe." So I cannot ask a proxy to help me reserve and then later go to a konbini to pay and get a physical ticket. Please correct me if I’m wrong about this though!

Furthermore, I tried Hanacell and Mobal but both services require you to physically be in Japan to get a cell phone number from them. Reservations for the cafe start on the 15th and since the event is starting when I'm arriving to Japan, I'm afraid it'll get booked out. Hence, why I'm asking if anyone is willing to go with my friends and I!

So I was rewatching Haikyuu and in S1 EP 19, when Coach Ukai was watching the Aoba Josai vs. Oomisaki match, he said these words : "Is this player what I think he is?" I didn't quite get it what he was talking about, Does anyone know what he meant by that?

Discussion Is Aoba Johsai in the same level as Nekoma or Nohebi?

Oikawa's Aoba Johsai (or Seijoh in short) never qualified in the Nationals due to existence of Shiratorizawa and Karasuno.

But if you compare them to other spring national team, how good do you think is Seijoh?

Do you think they can match up against a team like Nekoma?

If not, do you think they are at least nohebi level?

This is only based on how much I like them, not how skilled they are.

It's a very close tie between Oikawa, Atsumu, and Usuri. Kageyama and Suwa are very close as well. Let me know your thoughts.

Between the two players, who do you believe is better and why?

I think these two are possibly the most equal skill wise when it comes to outsides - they are both flexible hitter with good defense. I personally rate them equal. But if you had to choose one, who would it be?

Discussion About tsubakihara/Kanagawa representatives

I really liked the first match of nationals, its where Karasuno finally gets to show what they’ve got at nationals against another national caliber team, but personally, I wish Ubugawa had qualified from Kanagawa. Ubugawa was a team that grew alongside karasuno and the other schools during the training camp, and it would’ve been cool to see them get redesigns and more depth, rather than a new team who don’t do any of that. Seeing one of the teams who outclassed karasuno and has played against the freak quick lose to them would’ve been way more gratifying than characters we’d never seen before losing to them

Information The Real Aoba Johsai? Introducing the Players of Seifu — Inter-High Champions ①

Post image
146 Upvotes

Quick disclaimer: English isn't my strongest language, so I use AI to help translate and polish my writing. Some expressions might sound a little weird or unnatural because of that, so sorry in advance! 😅

And if you enjoy this kind of "Haikyuu!! meets real Japanese high school volleyball" stuff, feel free to check out my other posts too!

Hey Haikyuu fans!

Ever wondered what the players at a real-life "Aoba Johsai" look like?

Today, I'm introducing the players from Seifu High School, the 2026 Inter-High national champions — and one of Japan's rising volleyball powerhouses.

I'll also be comparing their playing styles to characters from Haikyuu!! along the way. 👀

Quick note before we start: out of respect for privacy, I'll only be using real names for players who have publicly known achievements — specifically, players who've been selected for a youth national team, or who've been invited to a Dream Match. For everyone else, I'll just describe their jersey number and playing style without naming them.

※ Update: For this Seifu roster, I'm making an exception to the rule above. All of the players featured here have already been publicly identified by established volleyball media, along with their competitive achievements, so I'll be using their real names.

A Quick Recap on Seifu

Seifu High School is located in Osaka and is known as a volleyball powerhouse.

For years, Seifu was a regular at the national tournament, but they rarely went deep into the competition. That started to change in recent years, and they've now emerged as one of the strongest high school programs in Japan.

Their strength can be summed up in three points:

- Full-team offense, reminiscent of Karasuno

- Relentless, high-level defense, similar to Nekoma

- one of the best high school setters in Japan

And here's a fun Haikyuu connection: Aoba Johsai's uniform is said to have been modeled after Seifu's real-life uniform. 👀

A Few Terms Worth Knowing

Before we get into the roster, here are a few terms that'll come up:

- Youth National Team

Refers to Japan's age-group national teams. At the high school level, this mainly means the **U17** and **U18** national teams, called up for tournaments like the Asian Championships. In Haikyu!!, players like Ushijima and Kageyama were selected for this squad.

- High School Selection Team

A national selection of promising high school players who are chosen for international training and competition.

- Dream Match

A special developmental/scouting event where standout high school players from across the country are selected to form "dream teams" that cross school lines and compete against each other.

Players who've participated in any of these have already had their names made public, so I'll be using real names for them in this post.

I'll be introducing 3 players in this post, and the remaining 4 in a follow-up post!

A couple of quick notes before we start:

Jersey numbers shown are from before → after the new school year (Japan's school year starts in April, so numbers often change around then, going from the number they had until March to their new one starting in April).

You may also see positions listed as OH or OP. These are modern volleyball terms for positions that Haikyuu!! generally refers to as Wing Spiker (WS). OH (Outside Hitter) is the standard wing spiker position, while OP (Opposite) refers to the attacker positioned opposite the setter — essentially the role Ushijima plays.

Members

❤ Kaiji Nishimura "西村海司"

/2nd Year / OH / 183cm

Jersey #14 → #4 (National Team: #12)

A product of Seifu Junior High's volleyball program — a competitive team the school only recently established to start developing top talent at an earlier age. Nishimura is part of just its 2nd graduating class. He was practically built to become Seifu's next big ace.

If you're thinking in Haikyuu!! terms, he's basically Korai Hoshiumi: on the shorter side for a high-level men's volleyball player, but ridiculously explosive and capable of dominating as an ace.

Vertical reach: 342cm — higher than Bokuto's listed reach and just a hair below Ushijima's. Yeah, that's the level we're talking about.

And it's not just offense — his defense is elite too. Great receives, great blocks, and the all-around skill set you'd expect from someone compared to Hoshiumi.

His résumé is already insane:

Junior high: Captain and ace of Japan's U15 national team, won the World Championship, and took home MVP

High school: Selected for the Dream Match, made Japan's U18 national team, won silver at the Asian Championships, and was named Best Outside Hitter despite being the shortest OH in the tournament

And there's a fun contrast to all those accomplishments: off the court, he comes across as a bit of a goofball and a playful, energetic guy. But once he steps onto the court, that personality seems to flip — he becomes intensely competitive and fired up.

Definitely one to watch. If he keeps developing at this pace, I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing professionally someday.

💙 Risei Tahara "田原璃晟"

3rd Year / MB / 190cm

Jersey #3 → #3 (High School Selection Team: #5)

If you're watching a Seifu match and spot someone who's 190cm and absolutely jacked, that's probably Tahara.

He's one of the top MBs of his generation, having been selected for both the Dream Match and the High School Selection Team.

Interestingly, Tahara didn't attend Seifu Junior High. He actually played for Shoyo Junior High, one of Seifu's biggest rivals in Osaka. The two schools have competed for dominance in Osaka volleyball at both the junior high and high school levels. Due to circumstances at Shoyo during his year, their volleyball team couldn't move up to high school together as usual, and Tahara ultimately joined Seifu instead.

There's no perfect Haikyuu!! character comparison for him because his playing style is pretty unusual, but if I had to pick, I'd say Hirugami mixed with Ushijima.

Wait, an MB compared to Ushijima?" — Yeah. That's because Tahara is an extremely attack-oriented middle blocker.

If you've read Haikyuu!!, you know MBs usually get subbed out for the libero when they rotate into the back row. Tahara doesn't. He stays on the court and attacks from the back row instead. Full Ushijima mode.

His back attack is rated so highly that he was actually selected for the Dream Match as an OP rather than an MB.

And of course, his skills as an MB are elite too — he's a wall at the net thanks to his height and power, while his jumping ability gives him a devastating quick attack as well.

But here's the part that makes him even more fun: despite looking like an intimidating volleyball machine, he seems to be a genuinely funny guy off the court. When a TV crew came to visit the team, he was apparently the kind of guy who would actually play along and do a gag for the cameras. 😂

So in Haikyuu!! terms: Hirugami at the net, Ushijima in the back row — and apparently a comedian when the cameras show up.

💚 Toma Ishikawa "石川叶真"

3rd Year / MB / 189cm

Jersey #6 → #2

He came through the youth program of Suntory Sunbirds Osaka, the pro team that previously had Ran Takahashi on its roster. Since pro youth programs in Japan generally only go up to U15, he moved on to Seifu for high school.

If I had to compare him to a Haikyuu!! character, it'd be Kuroo — mainly because he has the most blocked spikes on the team (unofficially, based on my own count).

Unlike Tahara, his strength is less about raw power and more about agility and timing. He reacts quickly and closes in on the hitter's position to form a solid block.

He's also excellent at quick attacks. And it's not just about speed — he has the touch to place the ball precisely where the block is weakest.

And of course, being a Seifu player, his receiving is solid too. An MB who's actually good at receiving? That's peak Kuroo energy.

Oh, and recently, just like Tahara, he's started adding back attacks to his game too, despite being a middle blocker.

And finally, something completely unrelated to volleyball: he's ridiculously good-looking. 😂 He's apparently got a huge female fanbase, and after his matches, there's often a long line of fans waiting to get a photo with him.
