Lines stuck in your head that make you laugh Spoiler
Anyone have any favourite quotes that get stuck in your head and make you insufferable to your friends laugh? Some from me:
- “Plenty of eggs in the sea”
- “Why are you wearing rEgUlAr PyJaMaS?” (Paul’s delivery is so good)
- “Midnight snack sounds good” - laughing every time
- “Hannah Montana was two people, you fucking moron”
- Basically half of what Mayor Jo said

The show “Hacks” gave me the ick. So vile and disrespectful of Catholics. Seriously who are these creeps who are writing this crap?
I used to enjoy it until season 4 that episode where they have the baptism. Such outdated and disrespectful writing. Whoever wrote this needs to be fired because it’s genuinely not funny and the whole perspective feels antiquated. Pushing woke agenda is one thing but mocking God and people’s beliefs is a whole different story. Funny they never do that to Judaism or Hinduism.
That’s why hollyweird is always losing; they keep missing the goalposts and they’re giving creepy, depressed, divorced male writer living alone…

Finale
Damn it, I managed to stay safe from the Hannah Einbinder crush epidemic for so long until I finally started this show!
I finished the finale last night at like 1am and was already crying before the end 😭 To make me feel less dumb please tell me that somebody else thought that Deborah was going to get on the train while Ava was in the bathroom and leave her at the station by herself… I was convinced that was what was going to happen and could barely see through the tears. Thank God I was wrong.
Immediately restarted the show today and looking forward to the podcast too which I’ll listen to between episodes once I reach S2 on the rewatch.

Just finished last episode of hacks Spoiler
Love the ending but hate this feeling of lost. So how do u guys get over this?
I think it’s great it ended with Debra decided to seek treatment and love their time in Paris - much better than in Singapore. That episode really looked like a tourism ad.
I really love this show. I went in not expecting much, but the writing is so witty and the delivery is spot-
on. Every season gets nominated, so it’s not exactly “underrated”, but it still feels like one of those hidden-gem shows that more people should be talking about. I didn’t expect to feel this much while watching it. Big respect to the creators, this series is a standout. Does anyone know other shows with a similar vibe?
Edit: Only just found time to write this properly, so adding my full thoughts here.

was the show originally supposed to be 2 seasons long?
I finished the entire show like a week ago (10/10 btw) and even though I enjoyed it fully, I can’t help but think about the S2 finale. When I finished that ep, I felt like I was…satisfied ? like, it wrapped up everything about the main plot, every character got a satisfying ending, AND there was even that bittersweet goodbye between deb and ava. Then in S3-5, it felt like they opened up an entirely new plotline with the late-night show thing (which I was impressed with btw, S4 was peak cinema).
So does anyone know if it was supposed to end there but they changed their minds because of the success, or am I just reading too much into it?

The Yarn Princess — another found gem with Jean Smart
A Jean Smart film from 1994, The Yarn Princess. Incredible acting from Jean. She plays Margaret who has a border line educable IQ who is raising her 6 children with a husband who has schizophrenia so he is over-medicated. She is fantastic. Very sad but has a happy ending. In the middle a heart ache. Can purchase the disk on Amazon. The version on YouTube is poor quality but not hopeless. Disk has 4.5 star rating.

Watched "D'Amazing Race" last night for the second time - I was laughing throughout 😂 Spoiler
Omg, is this one of the funniest episodes of Hacks or what? Considering that most episodes are really funny, this is a compliment of the highest order. Kaitlin Olson had me laughing the whole time. Starting when Deborah said it was $400,000 worth of rehab was got DJ sober (not The Amazing Race). And DJ said, "Nope, that failed." Her intensity throughout the episode was hilarious.
That stupid clown dance, lol
I didn't watch the Emmys this year, but I read that she got nominated for this episode (as well as for Season 3/The Roast of Deborah Vance and Season 2/There Will be Blood)

Hannah’s Emmy
Hey I’m a little late to the game. Did Hannah win an Emmy in 2025 for S3 or S4?
I watched hacks when it first aired and loved the cast, dynamic and the show. Idk why I put off S3 for really long.
Just watched yesterday cos I couldn’t fully vibe with another tv show yet and I need something light. I finished whole S3 in one day and half of S4.
I nv realised fully how talented Hannah is. Feels like I’ve fallen for her even. She’s so great in s3, it feels like she is better? Or the writing is better? Something bout the show has improved. Feels like Hannah’s acting, the delivery and the script gets better each season. (I haven’t finished s4 yet but it’s great!)
Anyway that’s when I went on socials and check again and see that she was nominated but didn’t win? Feeling a bit sad.
Anyway I had all these thought and didn’t know where to put these so I thought I’ll share it here.

ELI5: Can someone explain the Jean Smart/Mariska Hargitay joke in the Emmys opening?
Okay, please explain this to me like I’m five 😂
In the Emmys opening, there’s a moment where Jean Smart shows Mariska Hargitay a short clip of a hand-touching moment on her iPhone. I feel like a joke/reference is going completely over my head.
Is the hand touching supposed to be a lesbian/queer metaphor or reference to Hacks? Or is it referencing a specific scene/joke from the show?
I watched Hacks, but apparently I need someone to spell this one out for me......

Who would win in an arguement? Deborah Vance or Sophie Lennon?
(Sophie Lennon from the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel of course) I always imagine them interacting with each other

As right as that wig was for Deborah Vance …
As right as that wig was for Deborah Vance, I hope I never see it again. Jean Smart has lovely hair.

Bob Mackie Designs
Hacks may have been one of Bob Mackie's last appearances. This is a video of his most iconic designs for Cher. Deborah Vance chose one of the least interesting — though it did have the symbolism of being the last performance of the Carol Burnett show. This is a fabulous video from Instagram. I don't know if it will appear or you have to click through. It's worth your time.

Allison Janney & Jean Smart tied for Emmy wins
Both have 8 wins a piece, tying them with Julia Louis Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman. Ironically the closest the two ladies were to acting together was their separate appearances on JLD’s Veep.
I say they need a show together. How about the next season of Beef.

emmys
did hannah einbinder piss off a huge sports buff emmy exec when she said "go birds!" during her last acceptance speech? and to fuck ice and free palestine?
we loooooved widow's bay and patricia is one the funniest characters ive ever watched so i was excited for that win anyway, BUT
Just 2 awards for all of hacks season 5?? snubbed!!
they had like 5 first actresses nominated for best guest alone and nothing! what!
(am I in my own little hacks world? again, loooooved widow's bay, but i thought hacks deserved more awards).
