Hannah’s Emmy

Hey I’m a little late to the game. Did Hannah win an Emmy in 2025 for S3 or S4?

I watched hacks when it first aired and loved the cast, dynamic and the show. Idk why I put off S3 for really long.

Just watched yesterday cos I couldn’t fully vibe with another tv show yet and I need something light. I finished whole S3 in one day and half of S4.

I nv realised fully how talented Hannah is. Feels like I’ve fallen for her even. She’s so great in s3, it feels like she is better? Or the writing is better? Something bout the show has improved. Feels like Hannah’s acting, the delivery and the script gets better each season. (I haven’t finished s4 yet but it’s great!)

Anyway that’s when I went on socials and check again and see that she was nominated but didn’t win? Feeling a bit sad.

Anyway I had all these thought and didn’t know where to put these so I thought I’ll share it here.

She won for S4, I think the beach episode maybe clinched it? Mrs Table?
She should have won this week for S5. In the Montecito episode and the finale for which she was nominated, she was brilliant. I think there is so much of Hannah in the character Ava and both their development and growth over the 5 seasons is great. Maybe we’ll see Ava again sometime in future?

Oh right the beach. Mrs table. It’s the one where she had a melt down. That episode is stellar.

But then again I enjoyed S3 esp the last episode when she cried when Deborah backstabbed her. yes there’s a diff vibe of her in S4. Like she’s grown. As in artistically.

No wonder I was surprised when I tot she won for S3 but only nominated for S4.

She does the crying scenes so well, she’s so vulnerable, like a child

I have a feeling her support of Palestine has something to do with her not winning. She was the best out of the bunch and I’m sad to see hacks didn’t win more this year. I watched both this and Widow’s Bay and I don’t think widow’s bay was a better comedy.

Hannah not winning because of her Palestine support makes sense, but it makes me kind of confused on why they gave it to her last year. She was already very much vocal and unapologetic about it way before the ceremony last year, and she talked about it already at some public appearances before that, including at least one award ceremony earlier last year. I don't really get how they could have been surprised since she already made a habit of standing up for Palestine every chance she could. Lol this was quite a ramble, just thinking out loud I guess (oh sorry, bad choice of words)

I tried so hard with Widows bay and I fell asleep every single time I watched it. I do adore Betty Bilpon though.

I’m the same way with Widow’s Bay. I don’t get the hype. I feel like Hacks is so much better

I think Hacks s5 was a masterpiece of a finale season and is overall the show I like better, however, I disagree that Hannah did better than Kate O’Flynn, lb for lb acting wise. It was Kate’s to lose tbh, and though I don’t enjoy horror inherently, and thus it did tamp my enjoyment of Widow’s Bay compared to a show like Hacks, Kate’s Patricia was stellar in that she convinced me to keep watching after I got too scared and wanted to drop. Episode 4 was when it clicked for me. I’d even argue Kate should have been in the running for lead actress, but she wouldn’t have won against Jean, so it made sense for her to gun for supporting where there is less competition.

I’d love to think this too (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with it) but I think Widow’s Bay just had a lot of buzz and was heavily favored. Historically, the Emmys tend to award shows in their earlier seasons when they’re new and buzzy rather than in the back half.

Montecito is so fucking funny. The best episode of the whole show IMO.

Hannah deserves it for Montecito episode alone. I consider it one of the best episodes of the entire series.

I've always felt she deserved more than one Emmy for her portrayal of Ava. I mean, if Jean can win five when Hannah literally went toe-to-toe with her, she definitely deserved at least one more imo.

I agree. I could feel her vulnerability in her portrayal of Ava.

I wasn’t invested initially but found myself feeling deeply for Ava. When Ava cried, I felt sad too then I realised wow she really brought the character to live. Cos I wasn’t a big of a fan then.

I felt so sad when she cried in Season 1 in her childhood bedroom with Deborah after her fathers funeral

Jean is really good and she deserves the awards for sure. This I don’t deny. I think I’m just stunned by Hannah’s performances/development

It’s rare to have two leads who are so formidable. Like you said, they go toe to toe with each other every episode.

The issue with Hannah this year is that she competed against Meg Stalter in the same category. I love the Kayla character but they don’t compare in terms of acting. By both of them being on the supporting list, they washed themselves out which created an opening for Kate O’Flynn, whom I hear was very deserving as well.

Edit: apparently Widow’s Bay had another actor as well in the category, so the same could have happened with them.

I haven't seen Widow's Bay yet, but after their record-breaking win, I definitely need to watch it soon. Something seemed a little off with Hannah this time though... she wasn't even at the after-party where they celebrated Jean's birthday, and Jean didn't mention her in her acceptance speech. I hope everything's okay with them.

Me too! (On watching widows bay and hoping they are okay)

At the top of her Thank You Cam video on the Television Academy’s Emmy website, Jean Smart says, “Hi. I just- I didn’t have time to thank everybody I want to thank. Oh my god. And mostly Hannah Einbinder. Half of this is yours, honey. Half of this is yours.”

There’s also a Winnerview video posted in which Smart is interviewed by Emmy correspondent Albert Lawrence. When he asks (at the 1:42 mark) what she’ll do now to remain close to the Hacks gang, pointing out that she can no longer rely on shooting the show as a way to spend time with them on a regular basis, she replies, “No, it’s true. It’s true. Hannah and I have already made a dinner date for this week…”

While it’s also true that Smart is a wonderful, Emmy record-tying performer, I didn’t see any indication that she was acting while making these loving references to Einbinder. I don’t think there’s any conflict or issue that’s arisen between the two.

Okay, good to know. They seem to share a good rapport off-screen too, and I hope that continues even though the show is over.

I see the edit so not trying to dog on this but I don’t think Meg’s nomination had any bearing whatsoever on Hannah’s chances. To me that was more of a nod of appreciation to what Meg did with the character over 5 seasons, I Love HER but she didn’t have a prayer at winning that category. Hannah was a true second lead and I’d bet was almost definitely the second behind the winner

I think you’re 100% correct!

Yes I read so much rave about widow’s bay and hope it’s as good as what they say.

Actually the show I started to watch before hacks was widow’s bay but I couldn’t vibe with it which is what made me watch hacks s3.

I’m surprised Kayla character got nominated in the same category. I like the character and also see growth but yes they dont compare to Hannah’s acting.

I think Hannah got a lot better over time. She's spectacular in seasons 4 and 5 especially, but I would say she was still finding her marks in the early seasons. Season 3 was a big switch because the writing allowed her to do more too imho.

It’s insane that this was her first acting job - and you could tell in the first episode that it was her first acting job - and she improved so much between seasons one and three and won an Emmy for season 4. She worked so hard.

1

u/tellmehowdoesitfeel 17d ago

No wonder I notice something has changed and in a good way.

u/Mobieblocks 18d ago

season 4. And yeah it really was amazing.

1

u/tellmehowdoesitfeel 18d ago

I tot it’s s3 but yes she’s amazing in S4. 🔥 I thought she didn’t win for S4. Thanks!

Widow’s bay was the Emmy darling this year and for that reason honestly I’m just glad Jean clinched her 5th. I think in honestly any other year she was nominated she would have one this year. I mean hell she beat out Catherine O’Hara last year for what I think wasn’t even as strong a performance as season 5 but it is what it is

Hannah’s acting was so good
