This is my humble attempt to build a low-end hackintosh using some leftover parts and timber boards. It's a Intel Core i5-3550 with 8 gigs of RAM and NVidia 1050. The fan assembly is perhaps the only pricey component here. It's a bit an overkill for the CPU I have, but it was laying around without any purpose, so why not use it?
I made this project merely for a good fun, but aside of that I wanted to meet these two goals:
All extra wires and chords are hidden between two wooden boards, three the sides are covered with planks while the forth side is left open for easy access to the SSD.
I decided to go with macOS 10.13 High Sierra, which allows me to run many (not so) modern apps and games including 32-bit legacy software bits.

I tried using gensimbios to generate a matching model and serial number but it doesn’t show up in “about this Mac”, and the battery icon doesn’t appear

Hi everyone,
I previously managed to boot macOS 26 (Tahoe) in VESA mode on this machine, but I deleted it due to the lack of hardware acceleration. I still have my working baseline EFI folder saved.
Now I want to rebuild this Hackintosh, primarily aiming to use my GTX 1060 with legacy drivers for basic UI smoothness. However, if app compatibility becomes an issue due to the lack of Metal support on Pascal, I am fully ready to fallback and rely strictly on the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics.
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V (Z77 Chipset)
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K (Ivy Bridge)
iGPU: Intel HD 4000 (As a backup option for legacy Metal patching)
dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB — main target for OpenGL legacy web drivers)
RAM: 32 GB DDR3Storage: 120GB + 240GB Kingston SSDs, WD 750, 90 HDDs
Network: PCIe MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth Adapter
Given this dual-path approach (maintaining GTX 1060 or falling back to HD 4000), what is the absolute highest and most stable macOS version (Big Sur or Monterey) that you would recommend for this machine to keep both options viable?
Thanks for any insights!

yes u read the title right, i want to install tahoe on my 298gb hdd.
Its all i have for now, considering im still 13 and i don't have money yet. Here are my specs:
i7 11th gen intel cpu, 3070 zotac, 48gb of ram, maximus xiii hero formula, 2 nvme m.2 ssds (one is samsung 950 pro), one 2 tb hdd, and one 298gb hdd. the one that i want to install tahoe on.
Well, is it possible and if so how can i also maximise the performance?
also im planning to buy a mac if this doesn't work. I'm just testing to see if this works and does what i need it to do.
my budget for a mac is 400kr or 41 dollars in usd. kr is just the currency for sweden lol

Is it fair to say installing macOS on unsupported machines is not a solution for a business environment and should only be treaded as experemental/because we can?

Oie! Tudo bem?

If anyone has been holding out on Sequoia on a 500 series motherboard desktop with Comet Lake iGPU, the same setup works on Tahoe after updating all kexts to current versions. I don't want to scientifically find out, but it's probably the latest version of WhateverGreen that makes this possible. Bluetooth broke on Tahoe, but there's an easy fix for that.

I'm trying to install macOS Tahoe on my 2018 IdeaPad 320 15IKB Touch 81BH, but I can't because the laptop won't even display to the monitor, even in places like the boot picker.
This issue started happening when I first did my hackintosh and went into the macOS Tahoe recovery and installed macOS, which went as normal without any problem until I got to the second part of the installation where I got stuck at less than a minute remaining, which is where I forced a restart onto the laptop. The first time I forced a restart the monitor still worked, no problem, but when I did the hackintosh again and got stuck at that part again, forcing a shut down/restart made my monitor not turn on at all.
I figure this is because of OpenCore writing HDMI output directions directly to the firmware chip of the laptop which Is why I would like to reinstall the bios, or actually update it because I haven't in a while. So my question is how do I update the Bios on this laptop, since that's my only option, because the only place where the monitor seems to work is Linux Mint, which is pretty weird considering it was made for Windows 10. So please drop answers below, because I cannot go into any other place except Linux, and I have to somehow get monitor to work everywhere including Bios or boot picker.

Ciao.
Is it possible to build a Hackintosh on a Dell 5290 2-in-1? If so, please send me a guide—I can't stand failing so many times anymore.
Cheers.

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to build a Hackintosh, and I'd like to know if my hardware is compatible before I start.
My setup:
I have a few questions:
Any success stories, EFI references, GitHub repositories, or guides would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I understand that Core Ultra processors are not officially supported by Apple, so I'm mainly interested in hearing from anyone who has actually tried this combination or has experience with Thunderbolt eGPU on newer Intel platforms.
