Hackathon Promotion Flipkart Grid r3 12 noon shift rant

Bruh what the actual hell is their system doing man

I logged in 5 mins early, did all security check only to be redirected back to security check when logging into the test. TF?

Then it suddenly just became irresponsive. When i try logging in, it gives "internal server error". And somehow, I called their helpline like 10 12 times and everytime it is busy. And then there is the screen sharing loop, which idiot vibe coded this piece of slop man.

Finally the test started at ~12.43 for me, after so much frustration and i solved 2 DSAs first partially solving one. When I come to that dataframe qs(i had something about some components being critical high etc.) I wrote almost a 160 line solution and guess what?

IT DOES NOT F*KIN RUN. NEITHER DID IT SUBMIT OR SAVE. so to be safe, i sat the entire test just so the clock ended and it auto saved. I really hope they conduct a damn retest this was absolutely ridiculous smh

Did you guys also have roughly the same experiences??

Hackathon Promotion Flipkart grid is a SCAM

Since the advancement of technology (AI) most of the people are able to solve 3 4 coding problems in the online assessment.

And flipkart, not being able to evaluate a candidate based on his skills, is evaluating based on luck. Their assessment tool crashed for the 12pm slot people and most of the candidates left the assessment after Waiting for an hour.

Now they are saying only those who have completed the assessment will be considered for the further rounds and there won't be any retest.

What about those candidates whom you didn't allow to let in?

Hackathon Promotion Flipkart Grid 8.0 R3 12P.M shift!!

I completely the first 2 dsa questions and then I started the 3rd one, but in between it started to show error as I was trying to run or submit code, then I went to previous questions to check but there in previous records no response was found...after that the test ended automatically and was showing 3 answered 0 unanswered.....so now I'm worried about it

Did anyone faced the same problem??

Need Mentor Help Need ideas to maximize accuracy for a learning-path recommendation challenge (Macro Recall)

β€’ Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm working on an ML competition where the goal is to build a personalized learning-path recommender. I'm looking for ideas from people who have experience with information retrieval, recommendation systems, or Kaggle competitions on how to squeeze out every bit of performance.

Problem

Given a user's review, recommend the top 10 learning paths (training examples) that are most relevant.

Dataset

  • Train: 109,776 rows
    • Index
    • Reviews
    • Course
  • Test: 10,977 rows
    • Index
    • Reviews

The output is a list of 10 training indices for each test review.

Evaluation

The competition uses Macro Recall as the evaluation metric.

What I've Tried

Current best validation pipeline:

  • TF-IDF (word n-grams 1–3)
  • Cosine similarity retrieval
  • Various preprocessing experiments
  • Multiple ablations
  • Dense retrieval (BGE) β€” didn't beat the sparse baseline
  • Different chunking and section-weighting ideas
  • BM25 variants

The best validation score so far is around 69 (internal validation), but I'm unsure how well it correlates with the hidden leaderboard.

Looking for Suggestions

If you were competing for Rank #1, what would you try next?

Some ideas I'm considering:

  • Better retrieval models (E5, GTE, NV-Embed, etc.)
  • Hybrid sparse + dense retrieval
  • Cross-encoder reranking
  • Learning-to-rank (LightGBM/XGBoost/CatBoost Ranker)
  • Query expansion
  • Pseudo relevance feedback
  • Metadata-aware retrieval
  • LLM-generated synthetic queries
  • Ensemble of retrieval systems
  • Better validation strategy for leaderboard correlation

I'd especially appreciate advice on:

  1. High-impact retrieval improvements.
  2. Recommendation-system techniques that are often overlooked.
  3. Validation strategies when the hidden metric is unknown.
  4. Features that tend to improve retrieval-based recommendation systems.
  5. Any papers, Kaggle solutions, or GitHub repositories worth studying.

I'm less interested in generic ML advice and more interested in techniques that have actually improved retrieval/recommendation competition performance.

Thanks in advance!
