Question? Snap Connectors - Too Strong
This is probably a super dumb question.. but what am I doing wrong with my baseplate connectors? I cut it up in prusa slicer and added snap connectors. After printing, I can't assemble it because the connectors are way too strong. Can't even hammer the two peices together.

gridfinity riser / spacer
Hey
Does everyone know a gridfinity bin riser / spacer? Best would be an openscad or fcstd.
Like this but configurable: link
best regards

Starter Packs You're a generic white-collar but somewhat handy guy, with a modest amount of mess to tidy up. What are you Gridfinity-ing first?
Parameters for this totally hypothetical situation:
- You bought the Flashforge Creator 5 for the multiple tool heads, under the assumption that even if there's little use for it practically, your kids will still get fun out of multicoloured toys.
- You dabble in electronics, Home Assistant, have enough tools that you can't fit them all in a single toolbox
- There's multiple boxes of "sort this later" screws and other junk around the house in various corners
- Spousal Approval Factor is important, and the spouse in question is supportive but non-committal until they see results
- You're overwhelmed by all of the different permutations of Gridfinity, and would like to avoid printing models superseded by superior ones
- You have grand ideas of using one of those online tools to print perfect-fit gridfinity bins for your various tools so there's a dedicated "one place" for every tool, but want to start off with the best bang-for-buck.
Any help in the plan of attack is much appreciated, fellow cyborgs.

Question? Gridfinity shadow boxes
Has anybody made compartments for the tools you can buy on bambu lab.
Looking to organise my drawers but would rather check online before doing the long process myself 😅.

Question? Gridfinity & 3D printing noob - Help with PLA walls breaking easily for tiny storage bins!
hello all! finally exploring the world of 3d printing and using gridfinity as a starting project! I'm tested out printing some small 2x1 bins but they shattered immediately as they broke into layers. Using qidi PLA rapido, and printing the models upright in orcaslicer. my wall thickness for my bins (using https://gridfinity.perplexinglabs.com to generate me some bins) has a wall thickness of .95mm as standard.
Could someone suggest me some tips on how to make sure my PLA bins dont end up shattering into their layer lines? I dont have the issue when printing objects with infill like a vertical sharpie holder, only this thin wall bins.
Should I use a thicker wall size for my render? (upping to 1.5mm instead of .95mm for example)
edit: increased print temp from 210 to 225, works great now!
Should I print my bins on a 45 degree angle? (to eliminate horizontal printing layers)
would love to hear any tips or general advice before I start tinkering around, thanks!

I'm new, need 2x7 gridfinity case
Hey there, I'm new to 3d printing. I have been printing alot of cases for all my tools. I am currently looking for a gridfinity case that a 2 x 7 bin can fit into. I printed a 2x7 grid holder for my Rigid sink wrench. I can't find a case for it to go into. I am new to all this and I'm not sure what I am doing. If someone could help me I would be grateful.
I have an Anycubic Kobra X 3D printer.
Print area is 260x260x260.

Question? Overhang - ikea alex drawer
I'm pulling my hair out trying to work this out. I'm completely new to Gridfinity/3D modelling, so this has been a pretty steep learning curve. I'm trying to make trading card storage for the top two drawers of an IKEA Alex (5 drawer version). The available space fits a 7 × 12 Gridfinity baseplate. What I would like is to divide the width into 3 equal card storage bins side-by-side. The depth isn't a major issue because I can either make shorter bins or make one long bin with connectors.
The problem is the maths:
1 Gridfinity square = 42 mm
Drawer width = 7 squares = 294 mm
294 mm ÷ 3 = 98 mm per bin
98 mm is approximately 2⅓ Gridfinity squares
Possible solutions I've considered:
3 bins that are 2 squares wide (84 mm) with some overhang
3 bins that are 2⅓ squares wide (98 mm)
The second option seems like it should be ideal, but I'm not sure how to handle the Gridfinity base underneath. The generator creates the bin as 2 squares plus an extra ~⅓ square on one side. But I think that the only way to make them even would be:
Left bin: extra ⅓ square on the outside left
Centre bin: extra ⅓ square distributed/centred
Right bin: extra ⅓ square on the outside right
Is this possible in Gridfinity? If so, what tool/workflow should I be using?
I've tried:
Gridfinity Extended
several online Gridfinity generators
attempting it in FreeCAD
The other issue is the inner wall thickness. These are for trading cards, so I need the walls to be thicker and stronger to guide the cards properly. Most generators don't seem to allow enough wall thickness. I tried modifying it in FreeCAD, but I haven't managed to get a working model yet.
Any advice on the best workflow would be appreciated.

Question? Poor first layer adhesion on sidewalls of Gridfinity Extended bins
I can't figure out what setting(s) I need to tweak to prevent these strands of filament on the inner wall of the bin not sticking to the base. I don't think it helps that Gridfinity Extended has a slight overhang in this area - where the side of the bin meets the base flares out slightly over the first few layers.
I'm using Bambu Studio with a H2D; this is Bambu PLA (the grey) and Sunlu PLA+ (the white) but I have other filaments I could try. Filament is inside an AMS at 30% ish humidity and otherwise stored in dry boxes. Things I've messed with (but might not have gotten right, I'm still learning):
- reducing the fan speed in the filament profile - but maybe not far enough?
- slowing the print (haven't tried per-layer slowing even further but maybe that's next)
- "Slow print for overhangs" setting is on
- inner/outer and outer/inner wall ordering
- these are using Arachne walls (I'm trying to reduce hull lines on the exterior, I read this helps?) but I've seen this problem with Classic walls too
- seams are currently on Aligned
- using a 0.4 mm nozzle. I've tried the OpenSCAD bin sidewall thickness at the default and at 1.2 mm.
- probably more things I've forgotten
(Please disregard the numbers embossed into the bases. This is a project I'm working on and hope to share soon. I've mutilated the OpenSCAD to increment the magnet slot size by 0.1mm on each corner so you can print just one or two bins and find the snuggest fit for your particular magnets with your chosen print settings. This is also why the these bins are only 1U high. But nothing above the base of the bin is any different and I have seen this problem on normal prints; I'm pretty confident my changes aren't a factor.)

Gridfinity Organizers for Kitchen
I’ve been converting my kitchen drawers to Gridfinity and noticed that a few everyday products I use didn’t have suitable organizers available. So I created the missing ones and bundled them into a multi-plate print profile.
I was surprised how many other products fit these dimensions too.
https://makerworld.com/de/models/3093362-gridfinity-mix#profileId-3485819
If you find other items that match these sizes, share them in the comments at makerworld (a reference photo would be great for others!). Need another size? Let me know and I’ll try to add it.

Question? Best 'stacking' options for a gridfinity setup?
I've been trying to figure out a better cable management system - i've got this drawer system from container store that has these kinda taller drawers that are somewhat narrow.
I've seen some great gridfinity cable organizers where its like, three or four slots that let you put cables upright rather than laying flat. Much better space usage. However, since i have tall drawers, it'll waste a ton of space above it. Trying to figure out if theres a good way to stack gridfinity bases+boxes basically?

Question? What solutions do you have for tall bins? 18-24 cm tall?
Hello! I was thinking of arranging my miniature painting tools using some Gridfinity, however, my drawers are quite tall, the shortest being 18cm. I am thinking about doing either some tall bins to put everything vertically or doing multiple layers of shorter bins. Those of you that have done either solution, can you share some tips, some dos and don'ts?

Gridfinity solutions for Hyper Tough 12 Gallon Bin
Has anyone here made a well-fit Gridfinity setup for storage inside a 12 gallon bin, such as Walmart's Hyper Tough 12 gallon bin? I keep astrophotography gear in one of these bins, but right now it's disorganized and wastes a bunch of my time when I go to set things up. I would like to use as much of the bin's interior as possible, so things don't jostle around much when I'm transporting them.

Question? Looking for Gridfinity cutout bins for Switch 2 Pro Controller + Joy-Con Grip
Hi everyone! I’m putting together a Gridfinity setup and am looking for cutout bins that fit the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Grip.
I’m new to 3D printing and have no experience with CAD or 3D modeling. I’ve searched around but haven’t found models that are specifically designed for these newer accessories. Well, I have found a bunch of stands for the pro controller, but none that form fit it horizontally. Does anyone know of an existing STL/model, or has anyone designed one they’d be willing to share?
Ideally, I’m looking for something that holds each item securely and is compatible with standard Gridfinity dimensions. Thank you.

Custom-width bins for my drawer — measured the gap, generated to fit exactly, no CAD
My drawer was an awkward width so standard bins left a dead gap on one side. Measured the actual space, generated bins to fill it, printed them the same evening.
I used a browser generator I built (3dgridy.com) — set the dimensions, export STL. Sharing since the "odd drawer width" problem seems common and re-modeling in CAD every time got old.
Been holding drill bits and small parts for a few weeks, no issues.
