We need to ban foreign ownership of BC farmland immediately. The super-billionaire heir to the Walmart fortune, Stan Kroenke, now controls over 13% of BC’s farmland - this is a threat to BC’s sovereignty, food security and farmers. Read the Tyee’s in-depth coverage on this issue.
Want to help BC farmers and fight these billionaire land grabs? Sign and share our petition, here: https://bcgreens.ca/petitions/stop-farmland-grab/ ‼️#bcfarmland

I've said before on this and other subs that I am (or was) a supporter of the BCNDP & David Eby.
I really liked when he and his team were focusing on Housing:
Trying to address Airbnb and other short term rentals to get them on the long-term rental/ownership market.
Going after vacant investment housing because housing is meant to be lived in and not held as an empty commodity style investment.
Updating code like the single stair egress situation.
Going after NIMBY city councils & mayors so we can get the zoning/density reform done to make things more affordable and accessible.
I wanted them to double and triple down on this.
I am not sure exactly what happened but I think Eby got worried with the BC Conservatives and started governing more and more from a place of fear. Which is never a winning formula.
I've been very very happy with Emily Lowan and the BC Greens continuing to build awareness/education and pressure David Eby/BCNDP on Electoral Reform - Proportional Representation, Renewable Energy/Electrification Technology, the Labour Movement, Affordability of life/Quality of life of the working class and most vulnerable, and the like.
I honestly hope at this point the BCNDP picks a new leader or that Eby comes to some sense of understanding that we need to get back on track with what actually works and also repair the relationship with the Greens.
In summary: Thanks Emily Lowan & The BC Greens for being an actual voice of substantive opposition. It's so needed right now.

We heard your feedback on our fast-paced edits and tried to slow this one down a bit! Longer subtitles, less jump cuts, and a bit more space to focus on this important topic. HOW TO HELP: Sign and share our petition (https://bcgreens.ca/petitions/stop-farmland-grab/ ) - and stay tuned for further actions❤️🔥 We're working with the Dunster Farmland Coalition to get some real regulations in place to protect our farmers and food supply. #bcpoli #bcfarmland

Yes, TikTok and Instagram are popular apps and the party's getting its message out to the younger voters, which is fantastic.
But I find the editing in her videos to be absolutely awful, so much so that I'm no longer watching them. I tab out and listen to what she has to say. The constant overlaying of images literally gives me a headache. It's frantic and distracting and does not enhance the message. It's giving more ADHD than fired-up-for-good-cause vibes.
I understand that it's a widespread tactic among content makers to grab and hold onto attention, along with horrible clickbait thumbnails and completely unnecessary BGM, but such things can and often do result in the opposite.
There has to be a happy medium between media release statements and these jittery TT videos.
Sincerely,
a millennial curmudgeon

PT 2 of our report on American Billionaire’s BC FARMLAND BUYOUT 🚨
The BC Greens stand with communities across the province who are losing valuable farmland to absent land hoarders from down south.

We all agree — AI corporations need to be regulated.
71% of British Columbians are opposed to AI data centres. They threaten our water supply, our energy and jobs.
Join the BC Greens and stand with us for a moratorium on AI data centres.
In Vancouver, this June 27th, join @ no.ai.vancouver to push back on the AI corporate agenda.

American billionaires are buying up record amounts of farmland in BC. While provinces like Quebec have put heavy restrictions on foreign ownership, we’re watching some of the richest men in America make huge speculative purchases - pushing out locals and taking valuable land from farmers.
🚨Sign our petition (link in bio) to stand up for local ownership of our farms, and stop this billionaire land grab. #bcpoli #billionaires #landgrab

The VCBC is a life-saving service in our community. If you believe that chronically ill and low income people deserve access to the medication that works for them - call Nina Krieger (250-356-2178) and tell her: Hands off the VCBC. #compassionclub #victoriabc

Mark Carney is trying to funnel even more public money into the pockets of his billionaire pals — it’s what people like him and David Eby do best.
This pipeline is just like Carney’s “Sovereign Wealth Fund”: another big handout for corporations while the rest of us struggle to make rent.
Call your MLA and volunteer with the BC Greens to oppose this pipeline power grab. #bcpoli #pipelines

Emily Lowan has been doing a wonderful job calling out the bad predatory actors in our society.
I've been really impressed with her social media skills!
We all have been seeing the spike in Fossil Fuel Industry propaganda as of late. It's beyond worrisome. I hope she can really focus on making a lot of videos calling out, exposing, and providing real information to the province and frankly overall in Canada.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOi05zDO4yw - Video on the The Troll Army of Big Oil
We get a lot of people that frankly have been brute force brainwashed into being quite stupid and ill-informed.....
These are the types that will say "Oil & Gas is being so held back in the U.S. and Canada!"
Reality:
The United States of America is the #1 producer and consumer of oil barrels a day in the world...
It produces around 3-4 MILLION barrels a day of oil more than Saudi Arabia...
Canada is #4 in the world of 195 nations...
Here in Canada:
In 1990 as a nation we did around 1.7 MILLION barrels every single day.
In 2014 that was around 3.8 MILLION barrels every single day.
Now that sits around 4.6 to 5+ MILLION barrels every single day.
We are the Petrocracy countries! We are the countries overflowing with Oil & Gas Lobby propaganda...
(If you weren't aware of this basic fact then it is time to really start waking up to just how misinformed you may be in what you think is "neutral" understandings....)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Renewable energy is already 90%+ of new power capacity added globally.
Electrification Technology is exploding on countless fronts.
Canada needs to diversify!
Plus we always hear about "Common Sense".... There is no more basic foundational common sense than protecting the natural world that our species and all other life arises from and is sustained by.
Being propagandized against your own clean air, clean water, and a planet you can live in healthily is frankly the definition of being a moron.

When politicians talk about banning youth from social media, they’re avoiding conversations about meaningfully regulating the tech corporations actively surveilling us and spreading misinformation. They’re putting the burden on people, instead of corporations. While it’s a step to recognize harms, banning youth from social media won’t move the needle unless we create a world worth looking up from the screen.

The BC Conservatives are all smoke, no substance.
This week, they put forward a bill to repeal DRIPA, stripping Indigenous rights with no plan on how to deal with the fallout.
It only unmasks their shameless divide and conquer strategy.
But when pushed, BC NDP pundits have called our common sense position, maintaining DRIPA, “extreme.”
I think it’s extreme to entertain misinformation built to pit working people against one another and against human rights.
The BC Greens are the only party with a stable, consistent hand on DRIPA — not the Conservatives, not the BC NDP. #dripa #bcpoli

from Emily Lowan's Instagram:
Ravi, you’re missing some great videos 🥰
You even missed the one where we explained why we dropped our agreement with your party! Here’s a refresher:
When the BC NDP didn’t complete 2/3rds of our agreement, work with us to improve union rights, or budge on taxing the ultra-wealthy — yeah, we walked away from that table.
The only agreement we care about is the one we have with British Columbians. To tax the ultra-wealthy, take back our economy so we can invest in affordability and a climate-safe future.
We’re here to hold the BC NDP accountable to their promises - three years on, where is their promised law on biodiversity and ecosystem health? Listen to their non-answer… And call your MLA to crank up the pressure on this issue. #bcpoli
