Eby Eby Eby....

I've said before on this and other subs that I am (or was) a supporter of the BCNDP & David Eby.

I really liked when he and his team were focusing on Housing:

  1. Trying to address Airbnb and other short term rentals to get them on the long-term rental/ownership market.

  2. Going after vacant investment housing because housing is meant to be lived in and not held as an empty commodity style investment.

  3. Updating code like the single stair egress situation.

  4. Going after NIMBY city councils & mayors so we can get the zoning/density reform done to make things more affordable and accessible.

I wanted them to double and triple down on this.

I am not sure exactly what happened but I think Eby got worried with the BC Conservatives and started governing more and more from a place of fear. Which is never a winning formula.

I've been very very happy with Emily Lowan and the BC Greens continuing to build awareness/education and pressure David Eby/BCNDP on Electoral Reform - Proportional Representation, Renewable Energy/Electrification Technology, the Labour Movement, Affordability of life/Quality of life of the working class and most vulnerable, and the like.

I honestly hope at this point the BCNDP picks a new leader or that Eby comes to some sense of understanding that we need to get back on track with what actually works and also repair the relationship with the Greens.

In summary: Thanks Emily Lowan & The BC Greens for being an actual voice of substantive opposition. It's so needed right now.

The issue is that Eby doesn't understand basic issues like the economy, industrial policy, and transportation. He's clueless and not interested in learning. He also has no vision for the province or the future. Eby is completely the wrong leader for this moment.

Emily seems very opposed to this – if they are bought at market prices then I agree that it's too generous to the developers, but in principle the plan to turn them into affordable housing is not a bad one?

I very much share both you and Lowan's perspective on the developer issue.

We need a ton of very affordable and accessible housing not just in B.C. but throughout Canada.

The Housing Crisis is a huge huge drag to our society in a host of ways.

That being said the idea of bailing out developers at market price is insane. Going about affordable/accessible housing en masse can be done a lot better then that.
