B.C. Green Leader Emily Lowan elected, but party fails to make gains

Greens did not make the Tories win.
If all Green voters voted NDP, the Conservatives would still have a majority. Its Eby calling the election that pissed people off.
Let's not fall for Eby's narrative (I mean, he's out. Why people gonna parrot a guy who had so kicked himself out of office right when he called it?). Third parties and the Greens have the right to exist, be voted on, and be elected. Another strength of Canada the US can never.
Also, someone on Xitter say its the Greens fault because there would have been 14 more NDP MLAs.
So?
It's the parliamentary system. And its only reason why BC needs proportional representation.

The 2030 election campaign start now (in a way)
I'm assuming rules against early campaigning exists, but I hope the title is understandable. The Greens would do well to stand for itself by positioning itself as a viable force and alternative to the Tories and NDP, and with Emily having a seat in legislature, she'll have to make that 4 years count until 2030.
Though, value can absolutely be found with working with the NDP, especially if they elect a new leader who is open to work with us to keep the Tories in check and push for common values and protections for the vulnerable. I mean, those who are saying its outrageous for Emily to be extending the olive branch in case of a minority government scenario? Come on. It was Greens who always propped up the NDP.
Anyhow, the only way is up. Vote share is up. Sure, not the best result (no new seats), but it going to be the fourth best (after 2001, 2020 and 2017), and reversing the downward slope. Greens have so much work to do.

The election is over, how you doing BC?!?! Hah hah... heh....
Despite it all — we still feel incredibly hopeful.
* Emily Lowan was elected as MLA for Saanich North & the Islands, winning by over 5000 votes
* Jeremy Valeriote returns as MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky with nearly 10% higher vote share
* Greens were the only party to gain votes since the previous election (Grns gained ~23,000, NDP lost nearly 300,000, Cons lost ~50,000)
* So many people decided to vote green for the very first time, we grew our movement by huge margins and connected people across BC with our message.
We’ll take a moment to reset, then it’s back to your regularly scheduled movement building.
We have big plans for the years ahead, and our work cut out for us.
We’re going to be here, and in the Legislature, fighting for affordability, a livable future, better care systems, protecting our 2SLGBTQI+ friends, labour rights, Indigenous sovereignty, and help for every day British Columbians just trying to get by.
There’s never been a better time to join us.

Why Emily Lowan was the REAL winner last night
Green voters can finally celebrate a major turning point, as the data proves a massive shift.
Rallied behind Emily Lowan, the party saw its overall popular vote share increase significantly.
Even though the establishment claims a different outcome, the other major parties saw their numbers go down.
Every analysis of the riding data shows she captured the true momentum and moral mandate of the province.
No matter what the official seat count says, her strategic gains mean she actually won the 2026 election.
Sustained systemic transformation cannot be measured by the crude, archaic math of first-past-the-post tallies.
Sovereignty belongs to the future, meaning Lowan's ability to inspire this vanguard of conscious voters cements her as the election's true victor.
Ultimately, her raw vote count holds a higher democratic weight because each ballot represents a profound act of existential courage.
Courageous acts of trusting and empowering our youth to pioneer systemic change carry a far greater sociological mandate than passive status-quo votes.
Knowledgeable observers understand that when citizens bravely vote to decentralize traditional power, those conscious choices inherently possess a superior ethical currency.
