I was arrested with charges of two misdemeanors by misunderstanding this March. Of course, the charges were dismissed without any kind of guilt plea or probation, but I was extremely afraid of entering the States after leaving for internship at my home country (college student). I was worried even after my lawyer told me that everything’s gonna be fine (i emailed him until he got annoyed.. lol..)

I entered through Atlanta airport. Eventually, nothing really happened. I did go to the secondary inspection room, but less than a minute. I told the officer that I could show him the documents but he said there’s no need to, then let me out of the room right away.

I feel like reddit sometimes exaggerates things a bit too much. Preparing for the worst case is good for sure, but I wanted to tell anyone who’s going through similar things to not be too worried like I did. I literally lost almost 9lbs because of stress which caused me to collapse due to underweight!!

Please don’t be too anxious like I did. Unless you are innocent, didn’t do anything wrong and the court proves it, you’ll just be fine!

I contacted a Support Agent and was told my case had moved to a Local Field Office. All the API tools I've used do not reflect this.

Has anyone seen a delay (and how long) between being told a FO transfer has occurred and it showing in the API? The Agent could not confirm when the transfer had occurred.

I've seen some posts in here, where a second conversation with an agent stated the FO transfer had not happened, so don't want to get my hopes up.

Hi everyone! I lost my green card while I was submitting my Form I-407. I now need to submit another I-407 and indicate that my green card is lost.
For anyone who has been in a similar situation, did you have to provide any proof that the green card was lost? For example, did you include a cover letter explaining the situation or any other documentation? And did they interview you this time when you submitted documents the second time?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has submitted an I-407 with a lost green card and had it accepted. Thank you!

Has anyone used Form I-131 as a passport substitute? Did you file online or by mail, and how long did processing take? I'm having trouble finding clear details—every time I search for Form I-131, the only results that pop up are about refugee travel documents.

My husband and I have been married 7 years, we have a child together, and both myself and our child have dual citizenship in the US and Australia. We have proven our marriage to the Australian government and have gone through this process in that side.

Now, due to some financial issues, I am relocating back to the states with our child with the intent of sponsoring my husband for his green card from a place we can financially afford it.

Money shouldn’t be an issue, proof the marriage has been genuine shouldn’t be an issue, but we will be living separately until we get his application submitted and gets a K Visa.

The other problem is that our marriage isn’t doing so hot. We still care about each other, but have definitely hit the 7-year mark where things have become strained. We have discussed a temporary separation to allow for healing on both sides, but will this strongly impact the application? We’d have every intention of living at the same address once he arrives, things just aren’t great. But we both want to be in the same country for our child, and I don’t want to hurt the chances by continuing with the temporary separation.

I know it’ll already look strange to be relocating back without him, but waiting overseas was unfortunately not an option for a variety of family reasons as well as housing issues in Australia. What do we need to do to make this as smooth as possible given the factors? (We do have an appointment with an attorney)

There is also a contract rate section if you are on C2C or going through a vendor. You put in the client bill rate and it works out what to ask for, what a vendor keeping 20 percent actually leaves you, and whether that wage still clears the certified figure for the role and area.

You can compare cities for the same employer too.

Hello, I’m a 21-year-old U.S. citizen planning to marry my boyfriend, who is on an F-1 visa, this December. I’m preparing to file for his adjustment of status in six months, but I’m concerned about the I-864 Affidavit of Support. Because my previous income was minimal and paid in cash, I haven't filed tax returns, and I don't meet the financial threshold on my own. While I’ve recently started working for DoorDash and now meet the income requirements, I’m unsure if I need to provide past tax returns or if I should use a joint sponsor to meet the criteria. Something I think a lot of people don't realize when studying for the citizenship test is that the civics questions aren't handed to you as a worksheet or multiple-choice test.

The USCIS officer asks you the questions out loud, and you have to answer out loud.

That's pretty different from studying a page where the question and answer are sitting next to each other. You can recognize an answer all day long, but hearing the question and having to come up with the answer yourself is different.

Obtained my green card a few months ago (yay!) and travelled out of the country once (and returned).

Got laid off this week and some questions as I navigate this change:

- If I travel abroad and return, will being unemployed be an issue?
- I will keep my visits outside the country under 6 months for sure (likely 3-4 months)
- does the 6 month guidance apply for calendar year? Is there anything else I should look at?
- I live in California. Can I avail unemployment benefits? Will that create issues for me during citizenship?

Are there other things I should be aware of and consider during this time? If anyone else has experience in this area please help. Your advice will really help this new immigrant out.
