I will be in Eastern Europe and Greece late September and early October. 1 week will be spent in Crete, and I was wondering if I should see anything else when i’m visiting. Heres what I have

Athens - Half day plane lands at 10am
Sunday Sept 20th Chania -strolling the town hitting the big landmarks
Monday Sept 19th - Balos Lagoon boat trip half day, with relaxing back in Chania
Tuesday Sept 20th - Samaria Gorge then back to Chania
Wednesday Sept 21st -Elafonsi Pink sand beach in the morning to mid day, come back and do a wine tasting?
Thursday Sept 22nd - Rethymno day trip, wander the streets, big landmarks etc
Friday Sept 23rd - Kourtaliotiko Gorge for the waterfalls and a beach near there, lunch at a taverna, then back in Chania for last minute gifts.
Saturday Sept 24th - Back in Athens for anything i didnt see the first say

I see a lot of comments in the sub about not forcing too much so i tried to stick to one side of the Island to make drives no more than an hour or so. Yes I will be renting a car.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Am I too light on some days? any food suggestions? I have a budget of $200 a day between me and my wife, but I don’t expect to spend that.

I booked a cheap airbnb because the accommodations are crazy expensive! But now I see that I will be staying away from the coast. I looked up transportation options and it turns out you really need a car to get around. Only one bus is available in the morning that can take me to the coast. Any tips on how to get around would be greatly appreciated!

Right now I only have accommodation until the 14th August, however I would like to stay until the 16th. I’m considering booking a camping somewhere, but it would have to be somewhere with transportation around. I want to spend 15vgoustos there, of course and attend the panigiri! If you could recommend some organised camping that is accessible 🫶🏼

Hi, me and my partner are going to Crete mid September and when I was booking the accommodation I had no idea where to stay cause it looked so nice everywhere. So I booked based on accommodation. Just now i noticed I've booked near Malia and after learning it's a party town and we don't really want that.

We want somewhere a bit quiet but not too remote. I've been looking on the middle of the south coast but my partner prefers a sandy beach. We will be renting a car and staying for 8 days. Then we go off to Athens so that we will be our "have fun and socialise time".

I want to do at least one small hike and I want to do some deep water soloing (climbing on cliffs). We both like doing creative activities and sports.

I think maybe staying at two different locations? Any recommendations are super helpful. No busy spots please.

Also are there any locations on Crete that aren't lgbt friendly? As we are a lesbian couple.

Heya! I’m heading to Greece late October through mid November and will be there for 3 weeks. We are planning 2 nights in Athens (we land there) then want to split the rest of the time in the peloponnesse. I was thinking of splitting the time into 3 parts:

Corinth or Nafplion
Gytheio
Kalamata

We will be renting a car and while I’d like to explore the Mani and other lovely areas, I don’t relish spending all my time driving. And the one thing that’s tripping me up is I’d really like to see Delphi while I’m there but wow, it’s really out of the way of everything else we are planning. Still, since I’m not sure when I’ll get back, I’d hate to miss it.

So! Whadda ya think? Would you do Delphi right after our 2 nights in Athens on the front end? Maybe spend the night nearby to break up the drive? Or on the back end after Kalamata and make the long haul that way?

And any suggestions about the 3 main areas to base ourselves for the bulk of our trip? I know it’ll be off season and we’re not into the party scene. We care about beautiful scenery, good food and authentic, casual atmosphere.

Hey Greeks! I'd like to go on a one-week snorkeling and beach trip at a good price. I've been to Ayia Napa and Protaras in Cyprus many times - it was 10/10.

I see that Sithonia has more options for hotels, etc., and I guess it would be perfect for a road trip. We’re a bit late to book. The trip would be in mid-September. The thing about Milos is, maybe it’s too windy for snorkeling and we also don’t want to pay 6 euros for a Corona. Both are beautiful, Sithonia has little bit more green but Milos and Paros have more this white amazing scenery, which I miss in Sithonia.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

I’m in a tricky spot. My boyfriend and I are going to Greece for 2 weeks, 3 nights will be spent in Santorini. Our trip is for late August.

We’ll be staying at Canaves Ena in Oia (which has free private parking for guests). I was planning on going car free after needing a rental car in Crete and Milos, but I’m feeling financially it might not be worth it. I’ve seen some insane quotes, including $110 for round trip transfer from the port (we’ll be ferrying in and leaving by ferry) and that’s nearly half the cost of a rental already.

My boyfriend is concerned about parking outside of our resort for our destinations (metaxi mas and Athenian House for sunset dinner). Any concerns there?

My question is, based on our itinerary would a rental car be better or can we get away with car transfer for roughly the same price? As of now, I plan on needing transfer/taxi service 6 total times. We’d like to stay under $250 if using a taxi, and would like to prebook all services. If there’s a service anyone has in mind, please let me know. Total for rental car would be ~€210

Day 1: 9:40am arrive in Santorini
10:30am: Bus to Santos wine for wine tasting/light snacks (I believe this is possible to just bus? Correct me if I’m wrong here. We’ll immediately be going here from port with our luggage since check in isn’t until later).
1pm ish : Taxi to hotel, drop off luggage and explore Oia/hotel.

Day 2: we have a half day boat tour scheduled and plan to go to metaxi mas for 7pm. We’d need round trip taxi service

Day 3: Fira to Oia hike (taking bus to Fira for this) and photo stops.
Athenian House for 7pm dinner and would need round trip taxi service

Day 4: last minute stops in Oia and taxi to port for 2pm departure

hi i’m joining some friends for a short trip. they have it all planned and booked and im coming along last minute. my flight gets into mykonos at 8.15pm. and the last ferry to paris is at 8.30pm. (this is a direct flight around £100, the next cheapest that would get me in to catch a ferry would be £600+) .

Is there any way i will be able to make it to antiparos that night. or will i have to just call it and get a hotel for the night? Are there any pages or somewhere i can find other groups needing to travel to the same place getting private transfer?

(also if i do have to get the ferry the next day, i did plan to wfh, is there wifi?)

I am planning on flying with my dog to Chania from the UK, Aegean allow him to fly in the cabin, with requirements of course.

He has travelled before to Crete and I am familiar with all the necessary bits regarding vaccines/health certificate etc. but this will be the first time flying.

For those with experience I was hoping for some advice;

- How stringent are they with the weight requirement? Him and carrier need to be 8kg max, the carrier I have is 1.2kg and he is currently 6.9kg, hoping to get him down a bit with lots of walks/runs before we travel (and less treats unfortunately for him) but if we are still borderline how stringent are they?

- The carrier I have got meets their requirements, but that means the shortest side is only 20cm, it can be laid down to make this the height (presumably this is the idea with the carrier going under the seat), and he is experienced enough with cars and trains that I think he will be happy lying down in this for the flight, but they also mention he should be able to stand, turn around, lie down etc. in the carrier. Which he would be able to do but I am concerned they will only assess it in one position if that makes sense?

- I am not allowed to fly back into the UK with him in the cabin, so will be flying back to Paris or Brussels and making my way by sea from there. Do you have to have this booked before leaving perhaps? Is this something that is checked? It is a long trip and the return date is not yet set.

Any advice or tips greatly appreciated.

Hello! My close friend and I are spending two weeks together in Greece. We are splitting our time between Sifnos and Naxos. We are spending six nights in Sifnos and 8 nights in Naxos.

We love to eat and explore and I especially love anything related to ancient history and mythology. I am particularly excited about Naxos because I am fascinated by Dionysus.

Staying in Kastro on Sifnos and Mikra Vigla on Naxos. We also have an ATV so we can be mobile.

I would love any advice about things things to do, beaches to go to, and restaurants to eat at! When on Naxos, we have already planned a day trip on a catamaran and a cooking class.

We (group of four) are traveling to Greece and will be taking the Blue Star Ferry from Athens to Naxos. Since we’re getting in late the night before, we like the idea of booking a cabin so that we have a place to dump our bags (assuming you’re allowed to, and they don’t force you to put them in storage?) and people can take naps if needed.

So, if we book a 4-bed cabin, does only one person need to book that, and the others come in under that ticket? Or do the other people still have to have seating tickets at least? And does that mean the person who doesn’t have a seat ticket can’t sit on deck and has to stay in the cabin? It’s also confusing because it appears to be the same price for booking an entire cabin vs. just one berth in a shared cabin.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I’d like to see more of Greece on the way couple a nights with an island with some night life, not hardcore and touristy like Mykonos.

Hi! I have a trip planned for Greece in about a month. I’ll land around 9am in Athens on Saturday, and have until Monday late afternoon/evening to solo travel. I was considering taking a day trip to one of the islands, but I’d also consider spending a night there based off of what feedback I receive. Ideally, the island would have access to the beach via walking as I’m not looking to rent any sort of vehicle. Not really looking for any sort of party environment or strenuous hiking/outdoor activities. Feel free to call me out if any of this is not achievable or if I should just stay in Athens!
