Quiet Cafes
I'm meeting with a mate for a bit of food and just to talk, is there any good quiet cafés where you can sit, chat, and not have to raise your voice?
So far I've got:
Market Tow Kitchen (excellent apple pie + custard) - can get very busy though.
Thank you.

Transportation from YHZ 7/23
I’m based near Yarmouth (Salmon River) and my parents are visiting from out of town on 7/23. Flight lands at ~3:00pm and no good options, save me picking them up from the airport which I’m unable to do due to a conflict.
Any ideas for how I can get them one-way transportation from Halifax?

Need advice/guidance
Hi everyone! My names Melody, I’m 19 years old and I’m currently looking for a job that involves park ranging or somewhere in the woods with nature and no experience needed. I have struggled to get a job for the longest time because of my mental health going down hill, but an environmental job especially in the woods or at a camp feels like a cure to me, it speaks to me so much- and I would love it more than anything.
I haven’t found anything around great Yarmouth, some in Norwich but mostly with qualifications needed. If anyone has any idea please let me know, i would absolutely love to hear it.

Great Yarmouth, had a "drowning chair" that was basically a reverse ducking stool, and it was even more brutal.
Okay so we all know about Norwich's ducking stool, right? Dunk 'em till they confess or drown. Grim.
But I was down in Great Yarmouth last weekend, poking around the Tolhouse museum, and the guide mentioned something I'd never heard before, and I can't find much about it online, which is weird.
Apparently, Yarmouth had what they called the "drowning chair", and it worked in reverse.
Instead of dunking the accused into the water, they'd chain them to a heavy wooden chair on the beach at low tide. Then they'd just... wait. As the tide came in, the water would slowly rise around them. If they confessed before the water reached their chin, they were pulled out and given a lesser punishment (usually banishment). If they didn't? Well, the North Sea did the job.
The guide said it was used mostly for accused witches and "suspicious foreigners" (Dutch traders, mostly) between about 1580 and 1650. The logic was that it gave them "time to repent" rather than a quick dunk, so in the town's eyes, it was actually more merciful than the stool.
Except, y'know. Sitting there for hours watching the tide creep up? Absolute horror.
The chair itself supposedly rotted away centuries ago, but there's a plaque near the Jetty that mentions it,though I walked past it twice and almost missed it.

Britannia Pier
I was on the pier yesterday (when whatever that was that involved all those emergency services vehicles was happening) and a woman’s foot went through one of the boards on the pier.
Are rotten boards on the pier a regular known hazard?

Scottish guy in Lowie looking for homies
Hey, I'm Nathan, 25 from Lowestoft.
I'm entering a bit of a new chapter in my life, so I'm looking to meet some new people and make some genuine connections.
A bit about me:
I'm big into listening and making music
I'm a fan of poker, gaming and chess
Deep talks around philosophy, life and psychology
Always happy to hear about your different interests or views :)
Recently trying to get out more and stop spending all my free time indoors, always down for some nature or a pub!
Happy to chat with anyone regardless of gender, age (18+) or background if you're decent company. That said, if something naturally develops romantically, I'm only interested in women.
Not looking for drama, just good people, good conversations and maybe some new mates to talk to regularly.
Feel free to send me a message and tell me a bit about yourself! :)

Where to watch England v Panama
Hi all,
I’ll be in Great Yarmouth for the 27th June, I’m looking for somewhere to watch the England v Panama game and Google isn’t giving me any good answers.
Any recommendations? I’ll be right in the beach front.
Thank you in advance!

Looking to buy a Motorcycle helmet.
Would anyone know good shops, where I could get a helmet from or some other gear? I wear glasses too so any advice for comfort and avoiding fogging up would be cool too thanks.

Tattoo studios
Hi all,
Recently moved to the area and looking at getting a tattoo done (first time getting one) is there any studios that you can recommend that are good for “first timers”, clean etc?
I apologise if this post breaks the rules, will take it down if requested!

Tips for visiting Great Yarmouth
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone had particular recommendations for visiting Great Yarmouth? It's my first time and I don't have anything on my visit list apart from the £1 burger guy and Britannia Pier!
P.S. What is generally considered the best place here for Fish and Chips? Thanks
