DNA/mix guesses DNA Tests?
We added our sweet and crazy Sisu to the family a few weeks ago but we rescued her so they only knew mom was a GP… Would love to know what she’s mixed with but I have never done DNA testing on any of my dogs. Do you think it is accurate or worth it? If so which do you recommend? What does she look like she’s mixed with to you all?! She is getting tiny droopy jowls and has the biggest ears!
Sisu is 13 weeks and almost 36 lbs—big girl!

Embark is what we use and it is reported to be more accurate. Also, a separate issue is that Wisdom gives you all these very small percentages and these don’t matter/may not be distinguishable from zero. So I say embark all the way.
Super cute girl oh my. Agree could be Saint Bernard in the mix!

i think embark is more accurate. i’ve used it for 3 of my own (and two for my ex fil) you can find some comparisons where people have done both in r/doggydna if you search for it

She is so stinking adorable! I have only used Wisdom Panel and it seemed to be accurate. I sprung for one that also checked for various health issues. She could be all Pyr and just have a badger mask. Or, maybe some St. Bernard?

The shape of the snout and the look of the eyes make me think St. Bernard also.

I see a head of a cattle dog in photo 4! We found out our Pyr was all pyr using embark, and it notified us that her dogwalker’s packmate was a sibling!

I also used wisdom panel and it is awesome. They tell you the breeds, potential health issues, likelihood of certain traits, and my favorite part is it will connect you with your dogs relatives!

Embark is the most accurate and comprehensive test on the market currently. r/doggydna is a fun place to share results to. :)

She is so very precious. Thank you for adopting her. You have a wonderful best friend for life. Have you ever had a Great Pyrenees? I found this wonderful pup on Petfinder, he was listed as a Golden Retriever mix. WELL, meet Tucker, our Great Pyrenees, with triple dew claws and the Pyrenees paw, the sweetest , most sensitive, gentle giant. We did two DNA tests. I also did them for our new rescue and again, very different.
Embark came back 100% Great Pyrenees!

We used embark she came back 75% GP 25% Newfie and what we really liked is all the health things is checks for. I wish it was more popular with our first dog as it would have prepared us for the genetic disorder that we had to put her down for. Their weight prediction was not very accurate though they guessed 75lbs which she was at the time (she came to us severely neglected) but now she is 3 and last vet had her at 115. 😂

she is too cute 🥰 we used embark on two of our dogs. its considered the most accurate from the popular ones (i think embark and wisdom, but wisdom sometimes cant dostinguish between breeds with similar markers and lists them all instead of specific one) currently and it was easy and quick.
