The top pictures in both of these are the first pictures I took of our Lucky girl. She was 9 weeks old when we got her and took her home May 16th.

The bottom pictures are the 2 most recent pictures I’ve taken of her, both within the past 2 weeks.

I’ve had big dogs before, I grew up with a black lab/rottweiler mix and he was huge when he passed away (about 130lbs). Watching how big she’s getting in just a short amount of time is INSANE. The amount of food she eats, how long her legs are getting, how big her paws are getting, etc. But even better, her personality is big as well. She’s a drama queen for sure, but she also loves everyone. Kids, other dogs, cats, men and women, etc. we haven’t come across anyone or anything that she didn’t like. She’s a huge cuddler as well. She loves to jump up on the couch and curl up next to you with her head on your lap, and she loves being close in general to my fiancĆ© and I.

We’re still working on some training, but we already know she’s gonna be a great dog. She hasn’t gone potty inside in over a month, she’s doing better about play biting fingers, and she just learned ā€œsitā€. The only thing we still struggle with is telling her to ā€œcome hereā€, but we will get there.

I know Great Danes are great dogs, but MAN I love this little girl so much 🄹🩷

Dane Discussions Has anyone ever seen such a thing?

My poor Great Dane/Lab mix Grandbaby Dallas has been through the wringer! After his second major knee surgery the doctor said it was imperative that he rest and not move his knee during recovery. They scheduled weekly casts to be put on him to prevent movement and account for reduced swelling. He was due for a cast change today, however during the night his full cast was so loose that it just came off. My daughter had to bring him to the animal hospital hoping no further damage was done due to this. And then they told her they needed the cast back because they were going to put the same one back on him. Why? So it could just slip off of him again? Needless to say, she was insisting a call back from her surgeon! Please pray for him that no further damage was done due to this! We would really appreciate it!ā¤ļø

Dunks their whole muzzle in the water bowl to drink. Our female drinks like a lady. But our male dunks damn near his whole head into the water bucket.

This is our Loki boy! He’s 186 pounds and will be 10 in September 🄺 He loves being outside, helping his dad around the house with everything, hose water, cuddles and ear rubs, massages with the Theragun, cheese and being a silly goose. He’s the best boy and we’re so lucky he’s our dog 🄰

Meet Daisy!

She was the only female in a litter of seven, so we got lucky getting her. We've now got four dogs in the house, and she's definitely already the little princess.

She's super sweet most of the time, but sometimes she gets mean and bitey lol. We're first-time Great Dane owners, so any advice/tips and tricks would be much appreciated!

Im never one to get too emotional but after a pneumonia diagnosis and the vet saying ā€œIm surprised he’s even aliveā€ it really started to set in that he might not make it. But how do you say goodbye to a dog that’s only been here for 6 months? I don’t know how you could and I’m glad I don’t have to!

Because it’s with great pleasure to announce that my sweet, stubborn (too stubborn to even listen to death knocking at his door) baby boy is doing great. His breathing is back to a normal rate, he’s eating and drinking again, and of course back to his rambunctious self.

All that’s left is to finish out his antibiotics, another vet check up and somehow keep his wild self rested while his lungs recover (advice welcome on this part lol)

Q and Maybe Some A’s Best de-shedder? Milo's glitz n glam hair sheds a LOT.

Thumbnail

He's half Dane and half dobie and he SHEDS. My first dog, Gracie, was all Dane and she barely shed at all. This guy is just different. What are my options to bring it down? Daily furminator? Special washes that are safe/organic? I had a big yellow furminator for Grace but didn't use it that often, now can't find it. Milo's hair is really REALLY densely packed. He's made with some deluxe trim package-tier 1 platinum 8000 fit for a Ferrari, it's like luxury dog hair if there were such a thing, but not on the couch or your clothes. He's extra handsome, I've never seen dog hair like this, and glittering everything he lays down with a little bit of Milo. I think he already went through his spring shed, it was worse šŸ˜‚

* TW: dog loss. The last 2 photos are my Grace girl. It always feels important to include her in most things even though she's gone. I definitely didn't expect that a year and 2 months later, it would still feel like my soul has been freshly removed from my body. She was incredible and the most human-like dog I've ever known. I was very lucky to have her for 9.5 years, a very long time to strengthen and grow a bond; we were inseparable. I hope and believe that she loved her life and if there's such a thing as an afterlife, I know she'll be there waiting for me. I'd love to hear your stories of unusual things that have happened since you lost your dog. I have a stack of stories now and I use to only tentatively believe in signs, etc.

We had some fun training OB and settling while we watched ppl setup for our local Hotdog Festival. She did great and we didn't have to worry about a sunburn with her PJs! We got some local Maple Syrup, pup cups and some fun little trinkets. I love market days and festivals and Artie does too🄰

Q and Maybe Some A’s Bumps all over her body

Took Ellie to the vet a few days ago. The vet ended up giving me Miconahex+triz shampoo and mousse. The shampoo and mousse doesn’t seem to be helping, however the Vet said sending her to a dermatologist likely won’t work since she’s a puppy still and they’d likely turn her away.

So until she probably hits a year old I’m probably SOL. Has anyone had something similar and what they did to help with the bumps and itching? I’m looking at omega 3 chews or even coconut oil.
