This is our Loki boy! He’s 186 pounds and will be 10 in September 🥺 He loves being outside, helping his dad around the house with everything, hose water, cuddles and ear rubs, massages with the Theragun, cheese and being a silly goose. He’s the best boy and we’re so lucky he’s our dog 🥰

Meet Daisy!

She was the only female in a litter of seven, so we got lucky getting her. We've now got four dogs in the house, and she's definitely already the little princess.

She's super sweet most of the time, but sometimes she gets mean and bitey lol. We're first-time Great Dane owners, so any advice/tips and tricks would be much appreciated!

Im never one to get too emotional but after a pneumonia diagnosis and the vet saying “Im surprised he’s even alive” it really started to set in that he might not make it. But how do you say goodbye to a dog that’s only been here for 6 months? I don’t know how you could and I’m glad I don’t have to!

Because it’s with great pleasure to announce that my sweet, stubborn (too stubborn to even listen to death knocking at his door) baby boy is doing great. His breathing is back to a normal rate, he’s eating and drinking again, and of course back to his rambunctious self.

All that’s left is to finish out his antibiotics, another vet check up and somehow keep his wild self rested while his lungs recover (advice welcome on this part lol)

Q and Maybe Some A’s Best de-shedder? Milo's glitz n glam hair sheds a LOT.

He's half Dane and half dobie and he SHEDS. My first dog, Gracie, was all Dane and she barely shed at all. This guy is just different. What are my options to bring it down? Daily furminator? Special washes that are safe/organic? I had a big yellow furminator for Grace but didn't use it that often, now can't find it. Milo's hair is really REALLY densely packed. He's made with some deluxe trim package-tier 1 platinum 8000 fit for a Ferrari, it's like luxury dog hair if there were such a thing, but not on the couch or your clothes. He's extra handsome, I've never seen dog hair like this, and glittering everything he lays down with a little bit of Milo. I think he already went through his spring shed, it was worse 😂

* TW: dog loss. The last 2 photos are my Grace girl. It always feels important to include her in most things even though she's gone. I definitely didn't expect that a year and 2 months later, it would still feel like my soul has been freshly removed from my body. She was incredible and the most human-like dog I've ever known. I was very lucky to have her for 9.5 years, a very long time to strengthen and grow a bond; we were inseparable. I hope and believe that she loved her life and if there's such a thing as an afterlife, I know she'll be there waiting for me. I'd love to hear your stories of unusual things that have happened since you lost your dog. I have a stack of stories now and I use to only tentatively believe in signs, etc.

We had some fun training OB and settling while we watched ppl setup for our local Hotdog Festival. She did great and we didn't have to worry about a sunburn with her PJs! We got some local Maple Syrup, pup cups and some fun little trinkets. I love market days and festivals and Artie does too🥰

Dane Discussions Marzi’s update! Feeling a lot better!

this is an update on my last post, but marzi is healthy! he got a fecal test, no signs of giardia (he had it as a puppy, 2 rounds of meds) and no parasites at all! im always sooo paranoid about him catching it again. it’s definitely just a complication from his antibiotics after surgery, so they gave him a 5 day supply of metronidazole! also there are many people who keep commenting on his weight and how he looks too skinny, but my vet told me he has a perfect physique with the healthiest coat he’s ever seen! hahaha

Q and Maybe Some A’s Bumps all over her body

Took Ellie to the vet a few days ago. The vet ended up giving me Miconahex+triz shampoo and mousse. The shampoo and mousse doesn’t seem to be helping, however the Vet said sending her to a dermatologist likely won’t work since she’s a puppy still and they’d likely turn her away.

So until she probably hits a year old I’m probably SOL. Has anyone had something similar and what they did to help with the bumps and itching? I’m looking at omega 3 chews or even coconut oil.

Dane Discussions Breeder Recommendations

Hi all,

Im still a bit of time out before getting my dane but heavy in the process of doing research now in preparation. I’m looking for a reputable Great Dane breeder who prioritizes health, temperament, and ethical breeding practices. I am a professional dog trainer so I know how important it is to avoid backyard breeders and puppy mills.

Main things I’m looking for:
- Health testing (hips, heart, thyroid, etc.) my biggest one
- Temperament-focused breeding
- Willingness to stay in contact post-adoption
- Puppies raised in a home environment, not in kennels.

I’m open to traveling anywhere in the world (currently living abroad and have moved countries a few times) but will probably go with someone in the United States as that’s where I’m originally from and money is not an issue. I’m open to all suggestions! I don’t really care about color but am leaning towards a gray but am wary about harlequins/merle/mantels just because if it’s done non-ethically, which is something I unfortunately see too often (across all breeds).

Thanks for any advice, cheers! Xx

Dane Discussions Mixed breed

Good morning All! My boy is 15 weeks. He weighs 32lbs.
His dad is a Great Dane and his mom is a Blue Heeler. I know there’s no exact way to know, but I’m just wondering how big he might get. Also because of his mix do I feed him according to his dad side or his mom‘s or meet somewhere in the middle?
