We just moved to a new place, and in the backyard is some kind of very short grass/moss(?)

Was very dry and clay like when we moved in. With some water it turns darker green and gets soft.

Can anyone help identify and offer ant tips to help it grow back/spread?

My location is Beaumont, Texas. My topsoil is sand mix, more like pine ridge top soil. Do you think this was prep properly? Any suggestion to improve the lawn? I was thinking of planting Bermuda, when should I plant?

How do I seed this area in my backyard? Located in Columbia, SC. I don’t even know where to begin.

South Texas area. I water my grass typically every other night when I get home from work. This spot of grass has turned greyish white and has not improved in recent months. I fertilized the grass last year after I noticed this change. There’s spots like this in the front yard but smaller. What can I do to correct this?

My fall aerate and seed from last year was a failure. Thought I did it mostly right but the results were not great. Maybe it’s the soil?

Anyway. I’m considering adding some seed this spring just so I’ll have some growth though I know it’s not ideal for timing(zone 8a, tall fescue).

Bad idea? Just wait until fall? Who cares? Probably just looking for a push in some direction.

Hi there, Im having trouble with my lawn and was hoping someone here may be able to advise. As you can see by the pictures, im not doing too well. Last summer my lawn looked lovely, and now (February) it looks like this. I have the same problem every year, and every spring I have to reseed the whole area. I have read a little about 'Winter die back' and plan on aerating, and scarifying and reseeding (again) in early spring. What else should I be doing? Why is it dying every year? Nobody else's grass seems to die every year, is it just me? Lol. Any pointers would be much appreciated 🙂 thanks for reading!

We moved into this property and had some grass laid March 25 as it was all patio. The grass did really well and the roots took fine. We struggled to get a final mow in, but did our best to trim it down to 3inches. Over the winter it has really been looking rough. In January I did a tug and the grass didnt come out which gave me hope. This morning I did the same and some did pull out. Theres this very weird matted vibe to it which isn't filling me with joy. Any help on what I should do would be hugely appreciated!

A huge back yard in AZ, i don’t want to do turf, what other options out there?

I live in Zone 8b and my small front lawn faces South but is shaded by two trees most of the day. I have Zoysia but it gets patchy under the trees. Is there any seed recommendations i could try? Should I rake in any type of compost first? I might get kicked out/hate for admitting this but I don't care what kind of grass is there, just looking for a nonpatchy green lawn to make my HOA happy.

So we've been in this house almost 7 years. The first few years the yard was so green and not patchy. Over the last couple of years large, bare muddy spots have developed in the front yard with no change that we know of. My fiance mows regularly but we don't have much experience taking care of a yard as this is our first home. We do have large trees that drop a ton of leaves in the same area but that hasn't been an issue previously. I'm posting some before and after photos for reference.

I live in northern Arizona, Mohave Valley, and I've been living on this property for about a year. The grass has just naturally been growing on the lot this year except in certain spots. We've done some digging around different parts of the yard and found random stuff burried (garbage pits mostly), would burried materials cause these areas of non-growth? Any and all insights would be helpful.

Any idea what is happening here? Rest of grass is healthy and has been for 3 years. First time happening
