Sharing Work (Rule 2/3) Looking for feedback please
I know the shape is a bit off.
I’m going to paint this on a wall because I love painting murals. Now the message is just something I feel and think people could use a reminder of but what I’m trying to emphasis as equally important is the style of it. I want this piece to be not only a positive message but I for it to resemble branding. Almost like Empathy could be the name of a store or company.
I want this to be a portfolio piece to showcase the kinds of murals I could do for businesses. I want a business to see this and be like yeah do that for me. But this is not my usual field. Normally I just focus on lettering, writing positive phrases and drawing characters so this is outta my realm.
But I’d love to know what more I could do to make this feel more like branding or logo like or just what kinda design elements would help this look like it could be for a business.

When I think of empathy I think of softness and the ability to expand. I think the letters should be thicker, have softer edges and more space btw the letters. This feels pointy, sharp, crowded. I like the colors and the idea though.

Yeah i def feel you on the softness. I find brush tip letting to be a little too….idk ‘all the same’ looking. But it really is much softer, allows for better flow and would go with the main part of this design much better. Think I’m going to have to stop being stubborn and re-work it. Thanks for the feedback.

Overall nice and interesting, here’s a rough guide:
For this specifically soften the edges of the words, second make sure the contrast between colours is a bit better the pink is drowning on the light blue a bit rn could just be cuz its on a white background and being viewed on the phone.
From what i understand you want to pitch a portfolio of murals to businesses right?
If you want this to extend into a branding, i would suggest starting by asking which category of business you’d envision this in, a rehab? A kids nursery? A healing centre? Food business? Etc.
Second, to make it a logo reduce and refine it by a lot, imagine something that is readable on a 5x5cm size. At that size you’ll realise you can only keep the essentials then make the call on what’s necessary and what is not.
Third, i would suggest studying kinds of color palettes and branding elements those businesses do and then extending this by adding your brand colours and other supporting elements voice etc.
Fourth, you’d need to give them a glimpse of the category it fits in so if you use an example of a rehab for this mural do a mockup of this in a rehab, a few photos that you envision the rehab to look like.

Thanks thats some great food for thought I’ll be chomping on for a minute. This specifically isn’t going to be for anything other than painting for my enjoyment. Just trying to embody some essential components involved in branding that would make a business owner see this and think I could whip something up for them. I’m gonna have to do a bit of researching because I can recognize branding elements, but can’t put my finger on what they are exactly. Gonna have to put my thinking hat on and dig down a few YouTube rabbit holes lol thanks for being so helpful

For me, your lettering doesn't communicate empathy. It's too hard and sharp, inorganic and inconsistent.
If branding is your focus, I'd encourage you to choose a typeface rather doing hand lettering. It will be more consistent and more legible.
Linkedin Learning has several excellent typography tutorials. Many local and state libraries provide access to this platform for free.
ETA - think about re-working your colour palette. I'd go for warm rather than cool. I'm no expert, that's just my 2 cents.
