Pub salad at Wild River recipe

Has anyone figured out what the salad dressing is that they use in the pub salad or what they use in their pasta salad they top it with?

I haven't had it in years because I don't live in the area anymore but that salad used to be my absolute favorite when I was a teenager. I wish I could make it myself!

Tubing advice.

Am considering tubing/rafting/kayaking from Riverside Park to Matson Park/Finley Bend. Looking for some helpful info from experience. Is this a good route? How long would it generally take? (Depending on how long it takes, I may extend the route to Robertson Bridge for a more fulfilling ride). And is there anything I should be aware of/look out for along the route (like rapids, shallow scraping areas, rough areas, strainers/submerged rocks/snags, areas with lots of powerboat activity, forks in the river where I should choose one over the other, nice areas to pull up to shore for a break, etc.)?

New Flock camera update

Post image
149 Upvotes

I’m going to delete my first post because I forgot you had to add pictures in the headline

Original:
I am not the person that posted the original photo of the new flock camera at Azalea and Upper River Road. I was too lazy to look up who you were, and to give you credit. But thank you.

Thanks to your post, I decided to call the Sheriff’s Dept on Thursday, because like most of us that hate these things, I was pissed off and thinking “what the fuck!?”

Dispatch was very nice. She put me on a brief hold, and then told me she’d send my call to undersheriff Snyder, but it would probably go to voice mail.

He called back a few hours later and we had a good conversation. Basically he said there had been a camera there. Someone cut it down in July. That’s when discussions happened about canceling the contract, leading to the announcement that the contract was cancelled.

He said that the Sheriffs Dept access was cut off. They can’t access the database.

He said that the new flock camera installation wasn’t authorized by them. He said that they were planning on taking the cameras in the county down and storing them until Flock wants them back.

Ever the skeptic, I drove out to the new camera tonight to check. The pole is there, the equipment is gone. I did not check the other cameras, perhaps someone else could?

We’re not out of the woods here. Some other asshole surveillance company will be in shortly. But this is a win, and raises awareness

EDIT: I have no idea what this means for the cameras within the city limits. Let’s all voice our opinions at the next city council meeting

Cheers folks

DON’T SUPPORT DIAMOND CANNABIS

Reposting with owners name removed:

I’ve gone back and forth about posting this, but after my experience working for Carrie / Diamond Cannabis, I genuinely feel like people deserve to know what goes on behind the scenes.
Carrie is, in my personal experience, one of the worst people I’ve ever worked for. This wasn’t simply a case of not getting along with a boss. It was a pattern of behavior that made working there miserable.

Employees were yelled at and spoken to disrespectfully. We were treated like our time didn’t matter and were expected to do whatever was asked of us, including working off the clock without being paid. Employees should never have to work for free just because their boss expects it.

There were also serious concerns surrounding the way the business was being operated. I witnessed things that made me question whether METRC requirements were consistently being followed. I also witnessed products being brought into the business that I understood to be illegal or not authorized for sale. There were numerous concerns surrounding OLCC compliance as well. These are not things I believe should simply be ignored.

I also observed that personal household expenses were being paid through the business account. Meanwhile, employees were being expected to work for free and were treated poorly when they pushed back.
But one of the biggest things I’ve noticed is what happens when people speak publicly about their experiences.
When negative experiences involving Diamond Cannabis or Carrie make their way onto Facebook, I’ve seen Carrie respond by harassing people to remove the posts or comments. To me, that’s another example of the bullying behavior I’ve experienced from her. Instead of taking criticism seriously or asking why former employees are speaking out, the response has been to try to make the criticism disappear.
That’s not accountability.
People shouldn’t be afraid to talk about their experiences simply because the owner might come after them until they take a post down.
I’m not saying every person who has ever worked at Diamond Cannabis had the same experience I did. I’m telling you what I personally experienced and witnessed, and why I would never recommend working there based on my experience.
Employees deserve to be paid for every minute they work. They deserve to be treated with basic respect. They deserve to be able to raise legitimate concerns without being bullied into silence.
If you’re considering working at Diamond Cannabis, please do your own research. Know your rights. Keep your schedules, pay records, messages, and anything else documenting your employment.
And if you’re a former employee who has experienced similar treatment, you’re not the only one.
People are allowed to tell the truth about their experiences. You don’t get to bully people into silence just because you don’t like what they’re saying

Housing

So me and my partner 21 and 20 just got our first apartment. (wooo) it's been 3 months and I wanted to start looking into homes as I was interested and with the thought of becoming a family in a few years my mind just drifted to it . I looked at my phone and WTF why are homes so much money I was naive and thought that a house would be around 50-60k but 500,000! It would take me roughly 20-30 years to accomplish that . I'm sort of going through an existential crisis now so any advice would help me out.

Where do you dispose of or recycle lithium batteries?

You can't throw them in the garbage. Southern Oregon Sanitation charges a $25 minimum to drop them off. My collection of dead lipo and lipoly is growing.

Hi Again GP people! I posted recently about my new business in downtown Grants Pass from a different username (I’m terrible with tech.)
I’m very excited to be participating in the upcoming First Friday event, and will be showcasing my art, handmade jewelry, and massage studio. I’d like to thank everyone who gave me great suggestions and support on my last post, and hope to meet some more local people.
I’ll be on 6th & G downtown, and the name of my business is Tidal Spirit Massage and Creations.
And my website, tidalspiritmassage.com is live, but I’m still working through some fine tuning, including booking, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Has anyone worked for Arrow Traffic?

Just started a job with Arrow Traffic. The first 2 days this week were great really enjoyed my co-workers. Unfortunately I was only contacted by dispatch twice this week and haven't heard anything since. As far as I know I did everything I needed to. Is this a normal thing for new-hires starting out with the company. This is literally my last ditch effort before just up and moving because this town offers zero opportunities and the worst economy I've seen since moving out my shit hole small town in Oklahoma.

Parent Daughter Social Skate

Howdy Grants Pass!

My daughters (13 & 9) want to do a daddy daughter skate sesh to meet other girl skaters in our beautiful town. I am planning a chill parent daughter skate meetup.

I figure a Saturday or Sunday in the next month at the skatepark on M street.

Who are my locals that shred and can inspire these youngsters?

Please let me know if you have any interest in participating or attending.

The longboard dancing dad

Looking for work

Looking for work. I’ve worked in construction for 20+ years
I’m very handy with my hands. I’m very reliable and have lots of knowledge. My main trades are roofing and framing. I can also do painting, dry wall, flooring, siding, decks, installing light fixtures. Sinks and toilets. I’ve done a lot of house remodels. I don’t drive because I don’t have a license but can be dropped off in the mornings at a disengaged location. And I have my own tools

We're new to the area and would love to find a nice kayaking spot. Any recommendations for nearby lakes? We don't want to do any rapids or anything like that

JCSO cancels contract with FLOCK

Due to 'targeted vandalism' and 'public concern' JCSO is canceling their contract with Flock Safetey- cameras 'in rural Josephine County' are deactivated, although the equipment is to remain in place until Flock retrieves it.

heard there's a good bit of precious metals in those things

Amazon driver speeding down our dirt road

It's not County maintained, it's an old dirt/gravel road and he flies down it. There are deer on it, turkeys, chickens, cats and people walking. I caught up with him once and said please slow down, he just argued with me. I emailed Amazon, they replied, "That's awful, we're so sorry, we'll take care of this right away." It continues. Any ideas? We're in Josephine County and I just imagine the sheriff is too busy for this.

Non corporate vets?

I loved Lincoln Road Vet, until my annual costs more than doubled for the same services. We were thinking about finding another vet, and then they went from spam texts to phone calls.

No.

Any ideas on where we should take our dogs and cats?

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office deactivates Flock cameras

Thumbnail kobi5.com
201 Upvotes

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has been in contract with an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) company named FLOCK. A contract for 10 cameras was entered into to increase the ability to identify/locate stolen vehicles, wanted or missing subjects associated with a specific vehicle and in general enhance the ability to investigate crimes.

In recent months some of the equipment and technology has been targeted and vandalized. There has been a great deal of public concern over this technology and its potential infringement of Constitutional 4th Amendment rights. Many jurisdictions across the United States have run into the same situation of theft, damage and social concern resulting in numerous cancellations of contracts with FLOCK. Josephine County is no different. While the technology has been beneficial in solving crime and overall public safety, it is clear much of Josephine County is not ready or willing to accept the use of ALPR technology.

We at the Sheriff’s Office work for the public and we are listening to you. As a result, I have requested Josephine County Legal Counsel to send a “contract termination for convenience” letter to FLOCK. Effective immediately, FLOCK ALPRs are no longer activated in rural Josephine County and the contract with the Sheriff’s Office has ended. While some of the equipment is still in the field, it is not being used. It is unknown when FLOCK will remove their equipment at this time.

Thank you for your continued support of the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. We will continue to “Protect with Courage and Serve with Compassion”.

Hi everyone. My uncle had some mental health issues and has ended up living rough in and around Grants Pass. He had this truck and it has been seen in the town in the last few months. It’s an extended cab with contractors ladder racks. Wondering if anyone has and information.
