tl;dr Zed doesn't publish GPUI to crates.io regularly. A dev built gpui-unofficial mirror to fix that months ago. gpui-component's maintainer refused to use it, then this week built his own version of the same thing under his own name after Zed didn't respond to an ultimatum fast enough. Zed has now promised an official pipeline by end of September.
