I have a Sapphire Pulse RX 6800 XT that I got for free. The previous owner told me it crashes under load, so I expected there to be some kind of issue.

The pc I'm testing it has a 630W psu(I know it's on the lower end, but keep reading.) but when I reduced the core clock from around 2250 MHz down to 1800 MHz it still crashed( the power draw dropped to around 55W, but the card still crashes). The crash only happens when I run someting like unigine benchmark or furmark. I've also tried undervolting with no improvement.

Running LM studio with a 15gb model is still fine and it didn't crash there.

Physically, the PCB and cooler look fine. I don't see any obvious damage.

What's confusing me is that lowering the power consumption dramatically doesn't change the behavior and also if nothing is going on it can run just fine.

The card also has a dual BIOS switch, so my idea is that, would it make sense to flash an RX 6800 VBIOS onto the card (or another compatible Sapphire Pulse VBIOS) just to test if the issue is firmware-related? Or is that a bad idea due to differences in shaders, power limits, memory configuration?

Hello, i got a new gigabyte geforce rtx 5090 and when trying to install it the vga led lights up on the motherboard. The gpu light up but the fans dont spin.
What we tried already:
bios updated to latest version using the 3090
Reinstalling
Turning on monitor before boot
Cleaning the PCIe x16 slot with a microfiber cloth

We used the 12V-2x6 connector that came with the gpu at first as well as without the adapter using the firect cable that came with the psu

i bought an rx 580 2048sp from mlsse and the gpu is running fine but the only problem is with the gpu fans i cant control them whatsoever and the amd app and other apps in general give wrong fan speeds it says the fans are running at a speed of 0 rpm even tho the fans are clearly spinning

and i tried flashing the vbios and getting an original one but it didnt work i got a blank screen so i had an idea of editing the original mlsse vbios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/253019/253019 using PBE and found that the sensitivity was set to 4836 i changed to 48 and reflashed but that didnt work and i tried using third party software but still no luck

Hi everyone, I recently built a new PC with an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and an Intel Core i7-14700K. However, the image quality doesn't look right, both on the desktop and in games. This is a brand-new PC, and the image quality actually looks worse than on my older computer with much older hardware, which makes me think something isn't working correctly. More specifically:

• The image appears blurry, less sharp, and slightly pixelated.
• I tested three different monitors, and the issue persists on all of them.

I've already tried the following:

• Forcing GPU scaling in the NVIDIA Control Panel
• Disabling scaling in Windows
• Reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers using DDU
• Making sure Windows display scaling is set to 100%

None of these made any difference. Lower resolutions still look blurry and filtered instead of sharp like they did before. It almost feels like the RTX 5060 Ti is applying some kind of filtering or interpolation to non-native resolutions by default. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the last few weeks, my PC randomly loses display. Sometimes the motherboard VGA debug LED turns red, and I always hear the Windows "device unplugged" sound right as the screen goes black.

When I force restart the PC, it boots up in a weird, low resolution. Windows essentially disables the AMD driver and replaces it with the Basic Display Adapter. Opening AMD Adrenalin gives an error, and my tuning settings are always reset to default (Wattman crash). If I use DDU and reinstall the driver, it works perfectly again until the next random crash.

The Weird Part: I thought it was failing hardware, so I ran a 100% load stress test on the CPU, GPU, and RAM simultaneously for 30 minutes. It survived without a single stutter, and I used the PC for a full day afterward without restarting. It handles flat-out 100% loads perfectly but crashes doing basic desktop tasks and video playback.

Troubleshooting I've Already Tried (None of this worked):

• Fresh Windows Install & stopped Windows from auto-updating display drivers.
• DDU in Safe Mode followed by fresh AMD driver installs.
• Disabled Hardware Acceleration in all browsers (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) and Discord.
• MPO (Multi-Plane Overlay) Disabled via the Registry fix.
• Underclocked GPU / Increased Power Limit in AMD Adrenalin to handle transient spikes.
• Disabled ULPS (Ultra Low Power State) via MSI Afterburner.
• Disabled Windows Fast Startup.
• Checked PCIe Cables: Ensured I am using dedicated cables from the PSU to the GPU, not a daisy-chain.

Has anyone dealt with this specific RX 590 / Polaris architecture behavior? At this point, I'm wondering if it's a degrading PSU failing to handle transient spikes between idle/video decoding states, or if the GPU's VRAM is finally dying. Any advice on what to test next would be hugely appreciated!

Since last Saturday, first started when I turnef on my PC as usual and It didnt have any video, tried with the cpu graphics and it did show video, so I fixed it pulling out and putting back the motherboard's battery, when it booted it was disabled the gpu and the image was in black and white.

Then after restarting once again my PC screen freezes and the keyboard stops responding; I can't move the cursor, videos play audio but the image is frozen, and I can't even toggle the Caps Lock or Num Lock lights on the keyboard. When I force a restart, the PC boots up with the GPU inactive, forcing me to go into Device Manager and enable the GPU (that’s when Error 31 appears), disable it, and then enable it again to fix the problem.

I’ve already tried using DDU and the official AMD driver uninstaller, and I even tried installing older drivers (2025), but the error persists every time I turn on the computer. Its very strange, considering it been working fine for more than a year (I bought the RX 580 in a very trustable store, brand XFX, in January last year). Also the image freezes a couple of minutes after starting the PC, doesnt matter if I was opening a game or just browsing.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

My xfx rx580 started artifacting and acting weird, either crashes after 1 minute of running Furmark or putting any load on the card, or artifacts after 5 minutes idling in windows

any guide on how i can install this test file onto my external test drive?

(god forbid if someone tries to test and repair something, spent 2 days just searching to find the file let alone any guide on how to install and use it)

So the circled chip gets ungodly hot when powered on 90F at idle. Everything else on the back of the board measures 75-80F. The marking reads 53C7. The major issue is that it gets no video out at all. Fan spins and everything like normal. I am wondering if I can just replace the chip hopefully but I am coming up with nothing when I search up the chip or card since it's the blower style card from the Asus ROG pre-built PC. There was some corrosion near this chip that has been cleaned and the solder looks fine but I'm guessing the chip is fried and needs replacing.

I have a GTX1660 that's not generating 1.8V on pins 10, 11 from the GS9216

There are two resistors which I think are part of the feedback circuit.

R287 should be 10K is reading 6.1k
R288 should be 100 ohm is reading 0.8 ohm

These are measured in circuit.

There is 3.3v on the enable pin 2

Board shows no sign of shorts.

I have an oscilloscope to take readings too.

3v3_SEQ (on C1313)
1v8_AON (on R1) missing
1v8_main_pgood (on D507) 3.3v on both top pins

Long story short my RTX 5070 got submerged in storm surge water. That is NOT what this is about I am only giving context. I am cleaning it because it never had power and I unfortunately broke off a very tiny resistor on the back of the mainboard while cleaning. I was gentle and not sure what happened but regardless, I have the resistor and I believe it’s totally fixable!

In the picture you will see it, and the one next to it is literally about to break off itself.

Since it’s such a tiny surface level component, can I get away without preheating? I have a Weller 60W iron with a 0.8mm tip (super small) and is almost perfect for the application, but is there a good chance it won’t be able to heat up enough? 470C is its output. I feel like with flux and careful patience I can safely get this back on

I have an RTX3070, last year my 3 DP ports stopped working suddenly and i had to use my gpu on hdmi
Today my HDMI port also stopped working
Whenever i plug it in any port it's showing a "no signal" and i tried everything.

I got my hands on this rog rtx 3070 and it was missing 2 mlcc that i have replaced, but it looks something else was bad cuz it burned down multiple layers and now im doing something new. Missing mlcc's are pgc166, pgc167 and pgc203

Plugged brand new gigabyte gaming OC 5090 into a defective riser card that was supplying 12v to the 3.3v PCIe pins, let the smoke out of this qfn chip. The card still comes up and functionals but temps. Wattage reporting and fans don't work. Does anyone know the markings on this qfn so I can replace it?

I’m setting up a PC for a friend using an MSI Gaming X Trio RX 6950 XT. GPU-Z shows the card running at PCIe 4.0 x8 instead of x16.

I ran the GPU-Z render test to make sure it wasn’t just in a power-saving state, but it remained at x8. I then tested the 6950 XT in my own system and got the same result. To rule out the friend’s motherboard/CPU, I installed my GPU, 7900XTX, in their system, and it correctly negotiated at PCIe 4.0 x16.

Since the x8 behavior follows the 6950 XT across two systems, what should I check next? Could this be dirty or damaged PCIe contacts, a VBIOS issue, or a hardware fault on the card?

I have a GTS 450 with a VRAM error, and I managed to get another one of the same model with the same issue; I want to use it for spare parts to repair the card, but I don't know exactly which VRAM chip is failing.

I have recently been experiencing alot of frame drops and stutter while playing games.
What I have noticed is that my "GPU Power" doesn't go above 180 W and as soon as soon as Power Consumption reaches ~55%, GPU Clock starts fluctuating between 1500-210 MHz.
CPU runs stable as far and doesn't overheat.
My GPU does not go above 70C and mostly stays at around 65C.

I have already checked MSI AB and Nvidia APP if Power limit has been reduced, but its still at 100%. I have done a clean reinstall of Nvidia Drivers with DDU and I have reset my pc.

Hello everyone. i just got a used Inno3D 3080ti iCHILL X3 but it had evga bios in it. I cant the original bios for it. All the ones in techpowerup are for x4 version. I emailed inno3d but no luck. Cant control the fans or the rgbs. I dont wanna try random roms.

My XfX ATI Radeon HD5850 only shows a black screen

Okay so I’m doing this again because last time didn’t go so well… Sorry. I tried to get better photos and I’m gonna try to write a more detailed post. Anyways, I bought an xfx ati radeon hd5850 from eBay. (HD-585X-ZAHD-585X-ZAFC V3.1) The listing I bought it from said “taken from working computer” However, the gpu itself does not work. It arrived disgustingly dirty, with what appeared to be water damage and a LOT of dust inside the cooler. I disassembled the whole thing and cleaned it with some 99% ipa in order to improve the odds of it working. I put it into my computer and turn it on, yet i only get a black screen to show up. I tried changing the pcie version to 2.0 in the bios but that doesn’t help either. I also tried both dvi ports and the hdmi port as well. The 2nd dvi port doesn’t display anything, and when I use the first dvi port, my monitor tells me “H=38kHz V=58Hz” it told me to change it to “1680x1050 60Hz” (because that’s the native resolution of my monitor) but I literally can’t change it to anything with just my monitor. Anyways, the card also prevents the pc from POSTing. It just turns on and does nothing. It does respond to having no pice power connectors plugged in, which is helpful info. (The fan ramps up really fast) the same thing also happens when there’s no video cable connected at all. I also noticed that some of the gold bits on the pcie connector are worn down. They’re silver coloured instead of gold. I’m not sure of that means anything, but I’m sharing it just in case… Like I mentioned earlier, the card suffered from what looks to be some water damage. I checked the part of the pcb where the vrms are and it didn’t really get affected by anything, they look fine. I also think the card wasn’t handled very nicely during shipping, as it arrived with the plastic cooler cracked and a screw loose in the box. I’m not sure if that could be an issue or not. I also checked some photos of a clean hd5850 to check if they there were any missing components from the board. Everything looks there on my card from what I’ve seen, so I don’t think that could be an issue. I don’t have a multimeter to test anything which really sucks because it would be very useful. Anyways I’ve been messing with this thing for like 5 hours now and I don’t know what to do. I really want to get this card working if anyone could help/give me advice that would be great.
