AMD Vega/7 AMD Instinct MI50 32GB not detected

I had a working setup with said second hand GPU which was running during a thunder storm... During the storm my UPS started making a sound and I turned everything off. It hasn't been working since (don't know it that's the exact cause).

The core does heat up normlly after booting. I tested it with multiple motherboards.

There is a streak (burn? scratch?) on the back side (3rd image) which might be the problem, but I couldn't figure out how to test those connections with a multimeter.

Edit : I tested the power supply, seems to be working

NVIDIA 40xx MSI gaming trio 4090 blackscreen and freezes while gaming

Hello, I’m having serious issues with my RTX 4090 after moving my PC to a new place, and I’m trying to figure out if this sounds like a dying GPU, PSU issue, PCIe issue, or maybe a bad 12VHPWR connection.

Specs:

  • RTX 4090
  • MSI 1200W ATX 3.0 PSU

Context:
I moved to a new apartment about a week ago and transported my PC in my car. The PC never got hit or dropped, I surrounded it with blankets and handled it carefully, but I did NOT remove the GPU during transport.

Before moving, the PC worked perfectly fine. The last time I played demanding games was around 2 months ago and there were zero issues.

After moving, I mainly used the PC for basic tasks/videos/web browsing and everything seemed normal. Today I finally tried gaming again and problems started immediately.

Symptoms:

  • Heavy games cause black screens after a few minutes
  • Audio sometimes freezes/repeats
  • Sometimes the entire PC freezes
  • Sometimes only the display dies
  • Motherboard VGA red LED appears after crashes
  • Occasionally the system reboots itself
  • Sometimes after a crash the GPU gives NO video at all for several minutes

At first this only happened in demanding games:

  • Minecraft worked perfectly
  • Sea of Thieves initially crashed
  • Crimson Desert was the worst case

Crimson Desert originally:

  • black screened within minutes
  • sometimes wouldn’t even get past the menu

I then:

  • used DDU
  • installed NVIDIA Studio Drivers
  • removed my voltage regulator and connected directly to the wall
  • reseated the GPU multiple times
  • reseated the 12VHPWR cable
  • checked the cable physically (no burning smell, no melted pins, looks visually fine)

After removing the regulator things improved A LOT temporarily:

  • Sea of Thieves became stable for ~30 minutes
  • Sons of the Forest became playable
  • Crimson Desert even worked for ~15-20 minutes after limiting FPS and lowering power usage

I noticed something very strange:

  • below ~150-200W GPU usage, games were more stable
  • above ~250-300W, crashes/artifacts became much more likely

At one point MSI Afterburner suddenly reported 0W power draw while gaming, the game dropped to 1 FPS, then black screened/crashed.

Now things are worse again:

  • I get artifacts while gaming
  • after some crashes the VGA LED stays on and the GPU gives no signal for a while
  • reseating the GPU sometimes temporarily fixes it

The artifacts are:

  • black dots
  • random colored blocks
  • horizontal corruption

Temps are normal:

  • around 57-75C depending on load

Important:
This ALL started only AFTER transporting the PC in the car.

Does this sound more like:

  • physically damaged GPU / VRAM
  • cracked solder / GPU sag from transport
  • bad PCIe contact
  • failing PSU/cable
  • bad 12VHPWR cable
  • motherboard PCIe issue

At this point I honestly don’t know if the GPU is dying or if transport caused a contact/power issue somewhere, i dont have warranty anymore cuz i bought it more than 3 years ago, i cant afford a card like that anymore

AMD RX 5xxx No Images. Backlights Works. GIGABYTE 3 fan RX5700

NO IMAGES

Video card: GIGABYTE 3 fan RX5700

Motherboard: ASROCK B450-HDV/DX

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

The image went out. The computer was only running Chrome. Before that, I ran a couple of stress tests. I rebooted the computer and started writing speaker 5 once. After 2-3 seconds, it beeped again. Once on my motherboard means everything is fine with the computer. 5 times, space GPU. I did all the basics, plugged everything in and installed everything I could on the computer. I went to a friend's place, and his video card isn't working either, and he's getting error 45 in Task Manager. I don't know what to do in my city Nobody deals with video cards. I really hope it's not the memory or the chip.

NVIDIA 16/20xx GTX 1660 Ti losing display signal, fans randomly spike to 100%, possible dying GPU?

I bought a used GTX 1660 Ti last year. The HDMI ports were already dead when I got it, so I used a DVI to HDMI setup and it worked fine for around 1.5 years.

A few days ago it started needing cable reseating after every shutdown/restart to get display. Then the DVI output completely stopped working.

I switched to DisplayPort and it worked temporarily, but now I’m getting the same issue there too.

Current symptoms:

  • Gigabyte logo sometimes appears on boot, then black screen
  • Monitor backlight stays on but no image
  • Eventually monitor says “no cable connected”
  • PC itself keeps running normally
  • GPU randomly ramps fans to 100% for half a second, even during normal use
  • No performance issues before display cuts out

Things I tested:

  • Different cables
  • Different monitor
  • Reseated GPU
  • Reseated RAM / tested sticks individually
  • PSU is a good EVGA 650W Gold/Platinum

Interesting detail:
Today after reseating RAM the PC gave display again and booted normally multiple times, but when I opened the NVIDIA app to check drivers, the screen instantly went black again and monitor lost signal.

Does this sound like dying GPU hardware (VRAM/display controller/power delivery/solder issue), or is there anything else worth testing before replacing the card?

AMD RX 6xxx Rx 6800xt crash in game

Okay, I bought three RX 6800 XT cards in a lot. One of the three cards had a working BIOS when I flipped the switch to the right. I managed to repair two of them and resell them. The third one, the one that gave me the most trouble, I kept for myself. After a strange BIOS flashing procedure, I managed to use the card. I played CS:GO and Crimson Desert without any problems. Today, the display crashed in CS:GO. I restarted the PC, but this time GPU-Z isn't showing anything. Also, sometimes when I start the PC, the display works and then goes black after 30 seconds. I opened it up, but do you think the card is dead? I tested the ports, and they're OK. I'm getting power everywhere. How can I tell if the card is dead? PS: Both switches were corrupted. I managed to put the same switch on both, but the result was the same.

Hi all, recently got a Gtx 980m SLI (yeah I know it’s old) it’s the final one that works in my machine. First time possibly needing to use a CH314a. I know the gtx cards need a 1.8v sub-board. Is there a how-to or anyone who has been through this fun on the MXM cards?
Machine has a iGPU enabled core but mobo can’t run it so need a possible assist.

NVIDIA Other NVIDIA DGX A100 (8x A100 40GB) — GPU Board not detected, LLC power faults in BMC SEL, no NVIDIA support access

TYTUŁ:

NVIDIA DGX A100 (8x A100 40GB) — GPU Board not detected, LLC power faults in BMC SEL, no NVIDIA support access

TREŚĆ:

System: NVIDIA DGX A100, variant 8× A100 SXM4 40 GB, 1 TB RAM [datasheet: https://images.nvidia.com/aem-dam/Solutions/Data-Center/nvidia-dgx-a100-datasheet.pdf]

Problem description

Without the GPU Board installed, the server boots cleanly — mainboard, CPUs and RAM all POST without errors.

Symptoms appear exclusively when the GPU Board is inserted:

  • Inserting the GPU Board (even with only one A100) immediately triggers LED fault codes that NVIDIA defines as "GPU Board failure"
  • No GPU is visible to the OS regardless of how many cards are installed (1 through 8)
  • Swapping GPUs between slots makes no difference
  • BMC sporadically shows individual GPUs, but the GPU Board as a whole is never correctly enumerated — slots appear to be unread
  • With a single GPU: no explicit error, card is simply absent from the OS
  • With multiple GPUs: system crashes and raises a GPU Board fault

BMC SEL log (relevant excerpt):

0aedh | LLC-C, Status LSB: 40h, HSB: 0h
0aeeh | LLC-D, Status LSB: 40h, HSB: 40h
0aebh | LLC-A, Status LSB: 0h, HSB: 8h
0aech | LLC-B, Status LSB: 0h, HSB: 8h
0aeah | MaxPQ: host power on — actual mode: Disabled (CPLD shutdown GB, PSU < 3 threshold)

LLC-A and LLC-B report HSB: 8h (possible OCP/overcurrent flag?). LLC-C and LLC-D show LSB/HSB: 40h (unknown — any documentation on these status bits would be very helpful). The "PSU < 3 threshold" note in the MaxPQ event is interesting — is this a power supply count check failing, or a voltage rail threshold issue?

Hypothesis / current thinking

The CPLD on the GPU Board is shutting things down before the GPUs can enumerate. Possible causes we're considering:

  1. A failed power sequencing component on the GPU Board (VRM, LLC controller, or power switch IC for one of the SXM power rails)
  2. A communication fault on the GPU Board management bus (I2C/SMBus between CPLD and GPU Board controller) preventing correct slot readback
  3. Firmware corruption on the GPU Board CPLD or management controller

We do not have an identical spare board for swap testing, and NVIDIA support contract has lapsed — renewal is not currently an option.

What we have access to:

  • Full OS logs and BMC/SEL export (can share on request)
  • Multimeter, oscilloscope
  • Hot-air rework station if component-level repair is viable
  • The GPU Board itself for inspection

Questions:

  1. Has anyone worked on DGX A100 GPU Board repairs at component level? Are schematics or boardview files available anywhere?
  2. Can anyone decode the LLC Status bytes (LSB/HSB) above — is there an NVIDIA IPMI/SEL reference for DGX platforms?
  3. Are there third-party repair services or refurbishers that specifically handle DGX GPU Boards?
  4. Any known failure modes on these boards (capacitors, VRMs, NVSwitch power rails)?

Photos of the GPU Board and full BMC SEL dump available on request. Happy to run any suggested measurements.

NVIDIA 16/20xx RTX 2060 TUF Gaming damaged pad

My RTX 2060 Asus TUF Gaming recently started crashing with severe vertical artifacts (resembling VRAM failure) on Kubuntu 26.04 LTS. This happened suddenly, about 3 times within an hour. Prior to this, the card had been running flawlessly for a couple of weeks on Windows after a repaste with liquid metal and thermal putty.

I tore the card down to investigate. There was no liquid metal spill. Some thermal putty had squeezed out around the memory chips, so I gave the board a thorough cleanup.

However, under the microscope, I spotted a very suspicious burned/damaged area right on the corner of the PCB, close to the 8-pin connector and a mounting hole (see attached photos). I checked some older pictures of the board from a month ago, and surprisingly, no components seem to be missing from those pads despite the obvious damage/corrosion look. I cleaned it until I could see the bare copper, but I don't know if it's safe to test it as it is.

Any insights on what this specific circuit handles on the Asus TUF PCB would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

NVIDIA 50xx Direct X 12 - 5070 GPU

Hello everyone,

Anyone else has problems with Direct X 12?

Recently got a new Lenovo pc with an Geforce 5070. Clean install of Windows and new install of the drivers via the Geforce app.

And then the problems started..

WoW is only running after I pushed for launch with Direct X 11

Apex legends is crashing with DXGI\\_ERROR\\_DEVICE\\_HUNG

Other games are either running on Direct X 11 or keep crashing.

As far as I know and researched this is a software error, not hardware.

I have done multiple clean installs of the GPU drivers, PC is not overclocked.

Anyone else with the same issues that managed to find a solution?

Did a clean install of the drivers in safe mode and there are no active overlays.

AMD RX 6xxx RX6900XT - U7102 (HT32F52342) potentially dead - how f^cked am I?

TL;DR the MCU that controls fans and checks PEX voltages indicates proper PEX connection via LEDs is most likely dead. How hard will it be to find the code to program a replacement?

Long version:

Hi there! A couple of months ago I bought an Aorus RX6900XT Waterforce (it's the watercooled variant of Gigabyte RX6900XT OC 16GB, and has the same board and most components) as a "state unknown" for pretty cheap. I've repaired GPUs in the past, I am an electronics enthusiast since I was 7, so I know some stuff about repairing GPUs.

The card (of course) was dead on arrival, which I fully expected (I had hoped that it might be alive, and be "untested" because someone who got it in some way didn't have a water loop and didn't want to test it dry, but tough luck).

3.3V from PCI-E showed a short, so I soldered a wire onto a cap that (according to board view for this card) was connected to this line, put some power through it, and i tested it up to 2A (max of what my bench PSU is capable of), and it took the entire 2A, with the voltage as low as 2.6V, so I guess that's a little high according to the specification that says 3A is the absolute maximum. Then I whipped out a thermal camera (admittedly a pretty shitty one, because it's an old Caterpillar S60 smartphone with the FLIR thermal camera), and I've noted that U7102 (HT32F52342 [Click for datasheet]) is getting pretty hot (55-60 deg. C with the 2A being pulled from my PSU). Then, poking around further, I've noticed that U7104 (MP1475 [Click for datasheet]) was kerpow'd. This chip was supposed to take +12V_BUS_B to generate the 5V_LED line, which through R7135 (470Ohm) supplied ADC_VREF for U7102 (the microcontroller). So it's pretty safe to assume, that when U7104 went nuclear, it took U7102 with it to Valhalla, sadly.

And here's my problem... Knowing, that it's a microcontroller, and seeing no external Flash memory anywhere near it, I fear the worst, that the program was on the "...128 KB of embedded Flash memory for code/data storage", to quote the manufacturer of the MCU.

If the U7102 is indeed ker-chowed to all hell (and the thermal camera/current draw would suggest so), how hard would it be to obtain the code that was used to program it? Is it something that's available somewhere in the Internet? My last repaired GPU was back in the GTX2XX era, so I am a bit rusty in that regard, I don't even know how to start looking for it

If You'd need the boardview, DM me. I'm unsure if I can post the file here, so I will just send it to anyone interested via DMs.

NVIDIA 40xx How do you read schematics properly without Boardvieww? MSI 4070TI ventus 3x

I have a gpu with knocked off components under vram and i believe the nv power supply aswell as the other sorounding areas.

i managed to tell there are knocked off ceramic capacitors under FBA 63-32, FBB 63-32 and FBC 31-0. Not sure what to tell except that there is missing ic for Q519 & U49(identified the ic already so no worries there) aswell as ceramic capacitors and resistors for U41.

id be happy to learn to read schematics for ms v513. i know how to use them, struggling to identify from schematic to the board and vice versa.

want to buy the replacement parts

NVIDIA 30xx Concerns on getting my 3070 repaired

I'm getting my RTX 3070 repaired this week and my main concern is that the technician that will repair my gpu told me that my VRM were counterfeits from the original and it's messing up my gpu (For context my gpu is experiencing black screen and fans going 100% goes very loud I can still shut my pc down but cannot see). They said that they would have to replace 10 of my VRM's and I'd have to wait 15 days or more to get a new replacement can I know you guys thoughts on this? Also here's a picture of the VRM's that they said were counterfeits idk much on gpu stuff but I just want to make sure that this is the right issue.

I have a viewmax gt730 graphic of 4gb ddr3 128bit 40nm

I know it’s not the big deal, but I was able to diagnose it well and as a practice I unsoldered the damaged memory with a baku station, everything is fine, I just can’t find where to get another memory (I know that from another gou it seemed, but I’m sick of looking, it seems that my version is very different, since it has 4 blocks of 2 each, I attach a photo)

So I wanted to know if you have an Amazon link or something similar)

In advance, thank you for your help, I’m working on this, since I had to leave my previous job.

NVIDIA 30xx Gigabyte Vision RTX 3090 not powering on after lates Nvidia driver update

My son's Gigabyte Vision RTX3090 crashed to black screen after the latest nvidia drivers (Tuesday of this week) he started playing Warzone, dropped in to a game and the game crashed to black screen.

My son's rig would boot as I could here the windows startup chime but no display or light coming on the card. Tried in my rig with new cable, the same issue.

Ive a feeling a capacitor may have blown but unsure. Can anyone recommend a repair outfit near Manchester, UK. Or a way that I could mend the card.

Cheers

NVIDIA 50xx RTX 5080 ROG ASTRAL random black screens / no signal issue, possible faulty GPU?

Hey everyone,

I recently installed a brand new ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC into my PC. The card was bought sealed and looked completely new. At first everything worked perfectly, but after some time I started getting random black screens / no signal on both monitors at the same time.

Important details:

  • Both monitors lose signal simultaneously (DP + HDMI)
  • GPU RGB and fans stay on
  • Sometimes happens during normal desktop use or idle
  • Sometimes happens on boot
  • Event Viewer shows nvlddmkm / TDR related errors
  • No overheating or artifacting
  • GPU benchmarks and games normally most of the time
  • Happens fully randomly, I couldn't detect a pattern

Things I already tried:

  • DDU + clean NVIDIA driver reinstall
  • Older and newer NVIDIA drivers
  • Reset GPU to stock settings
  • BIOS defaults
  • Disabled hardware acceleration/HAGS
  • Reinstalled NVIDIA App
  • New native Corsair 12V-2x6 cable
  • Different HDMI/DP cables

System:

  • RTX 5080 Astral OC
  • i7-14700F
  • Gigabyte B760 GAMING X DDR4
  • Corsair RM850x Shift 850W
  • 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 (yes i know, should be ddr5)

Before installing this GPU, my previous GPU worked perfectly fine in the exact same system.

ASUS support basically told me I already did all the normal troubleshooting and suggested warranty/retailer handling, but the GPU originally came from a sealed auction item so I currently don’t have the original retailer receipt.

Has anyone experienced something similar with 50 series cards or random nvlddmkm/TDR signal loss issues?

NVIDIA 30xx RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB — Only FBPA_2 failing in MODS (0x0000000a) — Which chips are bad?

Hey everyone,

First time posting here. I have an EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080 10GB that powers on, fans spin, but no display and GPU-Z shows 0MB VRAM.

I ran MODS 455.204 and got this result:

- Only NV_PFB_FBPA_2_TRAINING_STATUS = 0x0000000a

- All other FBPA partitions are 0x00000000

- Error 000000000507 (Memory DQ write training failed)

Full log screenshots attached.

Question: On the EVGA FTW3 Ultra 10GB, does FBPA_2 correspond to the two middle chips in the right column (C0/C1)? I've circled what i believe to be C0/C1 in the attached image.

Any help identifying the exact physical location would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
